7.3 powerstroke, 5.9 cummins 12v or 24v and 6.6 duramax (lb7, lbz, etc) They also have amazing sound.

Do they remove the particulate filter to sound like this? I think a lot of these engines are from the pre DPF era.
if u just replace the kat or dpf with a downpipe it already sounds good
Plus a Bigger Exhaust Turbine Gives a Lot of Sound ... except, that than the torque goes a little tooo high into revs...
None of them are stock, mostly straight piped
The Mercedes om606 clip was mad the way the black and white smoke mixed

@@bustjanzupan1074 it’s funny you bring me back to this comment, I now own an Alfa Romeo Giulia Q4. I love it so far. It’s beautiful car and a blast to drive. I’m getting comfortable sliding the corners now despite AWD and traction control severely limiting me
Bit disappointed that there is no D5244T Volvo's 2,4l inl-line 5 cyl. engine in the list. Which by stock sounds spectacular.

When I watch an engine sound comparison of any type of a road-legal vehicle, mostly an inline 6 wins (at least for me) 🙂...just imagine an om606 with Yamaha-tuned exhaust system with 6 into 1 equal length header 🙂...maybe nobody would tell that is actually a diesel 🙂
Alfa I5 JTD & Audi 3.0 BiTdi best sounding. I have an BMW 3.0 I6 N57. Sounds nice but too quiet!

Doubt it. My facelift A6 doesn't have soundaktor.
@@v6tex I have a friend who has a 2012 A6 C7 3.0Bi-tdi with the soundaktor and it sounds exactly the same like the one I marked in the video. Maybe Audi removed it on the facelift like VW removed it on the mk7.5 Golf GTD when the pre facelift had it.

Audi 2.5 TDI (AEL) / Volvo D5252T - Great sounding 5-cylinder diesel.
Ford 7.3 Powerstroke.

Special mention:
Scania V8 - Yes, it is a truck engine, but god damn it is a good sounding diesel.
To my ears, the Alphas always sound best, and for cheap, even if you factor in all the repairs, Mercs come in a close second, always lookin so stylish yet so growly, kinda Japanese if I think about it. The VW V10 sounds like a jet aircraft.
7:48 Don't ever do that in a regular torque converter automatic (regular meaning no launch control). The torque converter will overheat and ultimately blow up very very fast, especially with engines that have a lot of low end torque
what do you think happens when actually using launch control in a car with torque converter? Yes it may put load on your gearbox/drivetrain but a torque converters purpose is slippage. You're most probably not gonna overheat your torque converter doing this... Gearboxes are designed to run at high temperatures and have oil to cater for that so I don't know where you're finding this information.

Never heard before about this V8 Ford.
v8 versjon of the 2.7l v6 co-developed by PSA (Peugeot). Found in Range Rovers mostly (when Ford owned Land Rover)

@@Ezzie0304 If you look at the castings on any of these co developed engines whether the 4, 6 or 8 cylinder they have Peugeot, Citroen (PSA) and Ford emblems on them. They were mostly PSA. I work for Ford and they don't have the expertise in diesel that PSA group do ( they certainly used to be the best). It's called pooling resource's and sharing engineering know how.

Volvo D4 is by far the most refined diesel engine if idle sound is the sole criteria: nothing comes close, not even the new mercedes diesel car engines!

Forgot another great sounding diesel car engine. The TDI v12 used in the q7. I drove this car in Forza motorsport 4 and it sounds mean and angry
