You go girl. I live in Western North Carolina and this has been horrific. My husband became a prepper overnight. I've been a prepper since 1999. He laughed at me for stock in supplies. My stock piling saved my daughter and her children in Asheville. The hand crank radio has kept her in touch with outside. You keep preaching. People need to hear this. God bless you.
Yes, my son is near Greenville NC and they are still without power. They are eating their emergency food. I am so thankful they have it.

There are people, right now, in Tennessee and North Carolina, who prepared and are able to help their family, friends and neighbors. What would the people who are now receiving help from those who are graciously sharing their preps had not prepared? Are the people who are criticizing you sending help to the folks who are in great need right now? I think not.

This is why local and state governments for decades, have asked people to be prepared to survive for a few days, minimum to a preferable two weeks, if possible. Takes time to go out and do assessments in roads that probably are not that accessible, figure out the size of the areas, how many people, who needs what and who needs priorities. Am sure many of the North Carolina people were comfortably stocked, but their supplies got wiped out with the unexpected hurricane floodwaters. Had a friend whose married husband had a small group of people going out to the hills, on weekends, for years, preparing and stocking up as a bug out spot. Had moved out of state and was included on that list anyways. Said my gratefulness but should anything happen, I would fight to be with my daughter and grandkids. Ended up a massive wildfire went through that area and burned everything they worked for. Unless they would have buried maybe six feet under, there was no way with that fire to save their supplies.
No need to apologize because you aren’t a sugar coat the truth kind of person. You were NOT fear mongering or exaggerating the truth.. We all have time to stockpile and prepare all year long. God will take care of us, but we must use wisdom and the brains God gave us..

From living near Houston and the Gulf Coast, I've always been a prepper for hurricane season (May- October).
I am never in those long lines the day before a storm.
My friend in North Carolina is safe. However those around her are in dire need. The roads are all washed out and Ashville is completely isolated. Thank God my friend was prepared.
My in laws east of there were lucky with just trees down and just a few days without power. The chicken farm is okay.
My sister is just south of there, lost power, ate most of stockpile. But they are better now. She realizes her stock level needs to be increased.

Thank you! My husband is a cop. It's upsetting the amount of times he has to put his life at risk for people that could have prevented the situation they have to be saved from.
I know is job is to protect and serve, but there is a difference between an emergency situation and putting yourself in a bad situation because of stubbornness and stupidity.

There are many kinds of emergencies, including personal ones. When my husband lost his job and my kids were little babies, a well-stocked pantry fed us until he found another job. Years later, when he was seriously injured in a car accident and off work for 7 months without pay, that pantry helped us get through. When Hurricane Harvey hit, we had to evacuate to higher ground to a friend’s house. We were able to bring food, water, our generator, and cans of gas with us to help out her household. Please prepare: life is full of uncertainty.
We went thru Harvey as well! We didn't stock up then. We do now!

Tawra, you are not a fear monger. You have always “preached” being prepared for any and every emergency-fire, flood, snow, tornado, hurricane, loss of power, job loss. And you tell people how to save money while they stockpile and how to cook economically.

I don’t know why so many people think the government has an obligation to save or provide for people in disasters. The Supreme Court has ruled several times law enforcement does not have a specific obligation to protect you. I am sure this decision applies to emergency services as well.
I agree with the moderator you need to prepare for the worst and keep yourself & your family safe. You cannot depend on the government to bail you out We are approaching a time when this nation will face some catastrophic. A lot of people are going to die because they were not prepared properly.
Well said. I learned as an accident investigator that four patches of tire about the size of your palm are the only thing holding your car on the road. Just a sheen of water can break that hold. It amazes me when people drive into water and then scream to be rescued as they are being swept away. Yes, I know, I would be the first to help them but could they not drive into the water in the first place? Your car's weight will not matter. Watch the video's of the semi's being swept off the road during Helene.
The government should be by the people and of the people. I think the government (all of us) should be helping all of us. Clearing roads, repairing infrastructure and providing medical help and yes food.. but ofcourse we as individual households should prepare too.. it isn't all or nothing. Both government and individuals have a role to play in widespread emergencies.

I agree with what you said 100%. Common sense seems to be gone. Those who think you’re in the wrong have issues. I’m very grateful for you and all the information you provide. Whether its cooking, stocking, saving $$, and paying off bills . If we ever have to evacuate, I will be taking as much of my stockpile as possible and our bug out bags.
My inlaws are right outside of Asheville and now wishes they had stored water because their house was unscathed but they had no water, no electricity, and no way out to get them! Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Saw a lady on tv who refused to evacuate with her infant child. She had to be rescued and I feel she is guilty of child endangerment. A parent should never put their child at risk. You do not need to apologize. You have been such a good influence on people. You remind us to save money and stop wasting money. You tell us to be prepared. You don’t have to apologize.

Don’t apologize…. I rarely comment but some people will just never never get it! We’ve had a stockpile since 2000. Single income… stay at home mom and raised 6 kids with a deep deep pantry. I’m 67 and down to me and hubby and still do it.

You are 100% right! I've been fortunate that I've never experienced a disaster/emergency. BUT, because I am prepared and have my stockpile, it meant that I was able to help others nearby that were hit by emergency situations. I live in a small apartment, and I use every possible space for storage (it's amazing how creative you can be when you make it your goal). Also, I buy extra when things are on sale, and have slowly built up a stockpile. It didn't happen overnight, and I didn't wait for the emergency to arrive to start preparing. Everything you teach about in your videos is 100% correct. We don't do this out of fear (I have to eat and drink and use toiletries every day ANYWAYS, so buying a little extra each time isn't doing anything crazy.) We do this so we can take care of ourselves, our family, and our neighbours if need be. We are instructed by God to prepare wisely Proverbs 31.

I appreciate you speaking the truth. I am so tired of people making excuses. I don’t expect the government to take care of me and mine. I expect me and mine to take care of ourselves and hopefully be able to help our neighbors too.
I have been thinking the same thing. Even our government has told us to prepare for at least 2 weeks since September 11. We lived through a pandemic, I thought people would listen then. Keep preaching. Yes, some houses would be damaged by floods, but their neighbors would be able to share if everyone was prepared. I know that the mountains of NC have weather related issues, I lived for 20 years near there. There are snow storms in the mountains too and people are unable to drive down the mountain. There have been terrible floods in the past, yes many years ago, but we need to learn about the history of the places we live so we know how to prepare. I feel awful for the folks, praying for all. Besides food and water, this disaster showed us the importance of keeping some cash at home, since all the ATMs were down and everyone was only taking cash. There is a reason I try to live within a mile of an ER and a grocery store!

"Pearls before Swine" sadly some are ruled by feelings because they lack I.Q. It is a greater sin to take offence where none was intended. It is because I'm a big softie on the inside and I care for others that I Urge them to PREPARE for the worst and hope for the best. Some of my loved ones are woefully under - prepared, yet if we all do it our chances of survival are greater, you don't need to be a genius to know that, if your all up in your feels imagine how great you would feel being able to actually help someone rather than just send thoughts and prayers alone. 💜

Some people just love showing their ignorance so please don't bother apologizing to people who refused to pay attention unfortunately they could be in this position next time. I have heard so many people say that they're eating from their stockpile and have juice and water that they had stocked also many have been prepared for household items and personal supplies.

I’m NOT prepping for end of world… cause frankly I do not want to live in a bunker for years…. But I prep for snow, or earthquake, hard times, power outages or quick evacuation… those things happen! And I don’t want to be a burden to others. Or possible a blessing to neighbors… plus… when power goes out, I’m good for at least a long while… just sayin…. Bible has many passages of being prepared. For His return or food shortages. Joseph stocked wheat for years… preparing.
We are supposed to have so we can give to others when its needed.

I wish people would remember the people in Tennessee who are being ignored by the government.
I believe in a stockpile, but I now see how mother nature can take it all in a blink of an eye.
That is why it is important to balance saving supplies and money so that if all your stockpiled physical items are suddenly gone, you have some money put aside to help you get back on your feet. As this hurricane showed, disaster can strike hard and fast in the most unexpected places. No single method of preparation is foolproof.

Im one of those you have helped immensely! In a tiny one bedroom apartment have a stock pile. I dont have much but my friends are taking a trailer of supplies to NC from MN. I will be thinning my stock pile to help another in need and still have what i need.....

Start off small. Buy a couple of cans a week. It adds up.
It sure does add up. How to get from point A to point B? Right foot in front of the other, left foot in front of the other. Repeat. Repeat again. Keep repeating. Wow you're at point B.

I follow the work of a hard working homestead gal that is getting this same treatment as you Tawra. Don't you dare apologize to these trolls. They missed the point of her videos too. The point she made was that if you have extra stored you could share with others in various crises. Much like things you have said. And.... she was one of the first to head out and get supplies to the storm devastated areas as you would too.

People's homes floated away, fell apart. They said that the waters rose rapidly during the night so they couldn't escape in time. There is no way to prepare for the worst of what happened to these poor people. For sure, some who were affected by less devastating effects would benefit from having extra supplies of the things they know that they will need but there is no "one size fits all" in this situation. Do what you know is necessary for your own well being people.

For those that prepared and didn't get hit...were the ones out there helping till gov. Got there even if they do. Four days for them to show up when they have hours is horrible. Don't listen to them. It was those that were prepared that saved lives.

I live on SS. We knew that time was coming, and we made the move to an area where we could afford to live on just SS. And yes, I have stocked up. I don't think I am good for a year, but I am good for a bit. Trying to convince my husband that he needs to have more cash available.
If you can for Christmas or birthday or even an Anniversary. Try to get a lock box. Maybe he will get the hint. If nothing else put a little note in there that says for car tire or repairs. For toothaches. You can probably come up with a few more ideas. It would not have to be a major expensive one at first but he would get the hint. Like for myself I live on SSDI so I know how hard it can be. But I have trouble thinking and paying big bills. So if I know I have one coming up. Like a vet bill it’s over a 100.00 dollars so instead of thinking at the time my cat needs her shots how am I going to pay for it. I take and put back 10.00 dollars a month. For I can wiggle around figure out how to save that much. For a month cut bad here and there. And have that ten dollars start a little piggyback to put your change in. If you work with cash most of the time. If he catches on he might like it and decide to sit down with you and see where you can cut back. I try to keep a credit on my electric bill. Even if it’s just a little bit for example if it’s 56.00 dollars I will pay 60.00 dollars

It's extremely important to be prepared ..I've seen so many people who have no electricity because of Helene not even have a grill..so many people freaking out because they have no way to prepare food..don't know even how to build a fire on a pit...it is extremely important to be prepared...it's more important now than any other time in our lives. Being prepared is about more than just stockpiling....we also need to learn basic survival skills. Please don't apologize sister. These are lessons we all need to learn.
We were hit by a tornado this Spring and were without power for over a week. Thankfully, we had a generator. It kept the fridge and freezer going, and we could cook with an electric skillet and make coffee. We were so happy to be able to stay in our home. I tell everyone to have a small generator to do at least this much. We live in town, but that is no guarantee that emergencies won't occur.
I topped up our RX's today, ordered some stockup items and hit the grocery store. With the dock strike , most of the tp was gone. They still have produce but not for long. A good time to eat down my pantry as it is really full.
Even in the time of Moises, GOD told his people to prepare. THANK YOU TAWRA, for all your hard work to keep us informed. The Goverment wants North Carolina property land for their Lithium.

I totally agree with you, you have been Preparing people for a very long time. Some listened and some did not..I have been prepping for years I live in Puerto Rico in an island and thanks to my prepps I survived.. I found your page some time ago and have gotten alot of tips from you.. I live in a hurricane prone island, we went through Maria and many after that and always prepared. they are taking up donations at my job. I'm so glad I have a stockpile so I could donate paper products, food, and toiletries to the hurricane victims that I got on sale. I stopped by publix and got snack packs of cookies, pop tarts,juice boxes half off for kids that are displaced. i got coffee for adults. I live in nc...during hurricane Matthew I was out boiling water on the grill, I think that was the best cup of coffee I ever had because I was so thankful to have it. you're not fear mongering.

Why should you have to a apologize? Seriously, if people don't want to prepare, then they are going to be in shock when a situation happens to them.

Tara For hurricane Ida here in south Louisiana My kids and grand kids stayed with me This is called their safe house. It’s an old house so well constructed on high land My home had much damage but was not destroyed like so many others in my parish and community. My daughter always made fun of me for prepping but we were without power or water for almost a month and they were so happy that we had food and water and that I was prepared My grand daughter and her family lost their home and everything they owned. My daughter and her hubby had so much home damage They lived with me for a long time after Our insurance companies went bankrupt They were so overwhelmed. Feema was also overwhelmed We only got 1200. Per house hold So many after three years are still homeless My heart goes to everyone who goes through these horrors But being prepared is always a good thing. Your advice is the absolute truth
