But its extremely hard to flare jump since you have to hold M1, M2, Ctrl and Space AT THE SAME FREAKING TIME.

This demonstration has been redone because the flare guns now apply 7.5 seconds of afterburn (down from 10 seconds) and the afterburn damage has increased to 4, for a total of 8 damage per-second.

I love that a detonated flare blows people up, its a nice touch.
The only weapon in TF2 that deals more damage to yourself than to the enemy. (23 vs 37)

Rockets and airblasts pushes them back but they can be detonated
Stock sticky launchers cant destroy stickies
Melee hits and bullets also destroy stickies

Not as powerful of a launch as the Thermal Thruster, but I prefer this thing regardless due to its drastically shorter cooldown. Not to mention, being able to put in about 20-35 damage from mid-range plus afterburn annoys the enemy at worst and finishes them off or sets them up for an Axtinguisher kill at best.
Probably my second favorite secondary, after the Panic Attack.

rebalance idea:
- remove damage penalty, the mini-crits are already fine.
- adds +20% damage against buildings.
- adds bonus damage against airborne players. (20% to 50%).
new downside:
- projectile damage is affected by range. (only on impact the explosion stays the same).
These are bad ideas.
Additional damage against buildings is redundant, since the Dragon's Fury is already arguably Pyro's best single target anti-building weapon (it deals a flat 75 damage to all buildings and passes through them, allowing the Pyro to shot through a sentry and hit the Engineer behind it).
Bonus 50% damage against airborne players is, without air blast, and extremely situational damage buff that, even with the removal or the damage penalty and stacking all the bonuses, is significantly less powerful that the Flare Gun, which is also vastly less situational. (30 x 1.35 x 1.5 = 60.75 damage against an airborne burning target vs 30 x 3 = 90 against a burning target).
Worst of all, adding damage fall off makes the weapon utterly superfluous. The whole point of flare guns is to accommodate Pyro's weakness of having such a short effective range. Having a flare gun with damage fall off defeats the entire purpose of a Pyro equipping a flare gun.
Why would anyone want to run your proposed Detonator over his other secondaries? Its burst damage potential is more restrictive yet still weaker than the Flare Gun and the Man-Melter, isn't as cheap and easy to spam as the Scorch Shot (though that's a problem with the Scorch Shot), it's building destruction is moot compared to the Dragon's Fury, and with damage fall off, the one thing it has over the other flare guns is detonator jumping, but since the weapon would be so weak as a gun, the player might as well just equip the Thermal Thruster.
The only Pyro secondary worse than this is the Gas Passer. Someone could have convinced me Space Guy Online came up with this.

Yes, you can use it like a rocket, and shoot at people's feet to ensure they take the damage.
@@FieryBlazer9 Not quite - the Scorch Shot deals splash damage on impact, not the Detonator. The projectile must be manually detonated with M2 for it to deal any splash damage; otherwise, it fizzles out on contact.

The hardest to use correctly, you mean. But yeah, it just doesn't have the power of the standard Flare Gun or the brain-dead ease of use of the Scorch Shot.

I love the Detonator, the extra air it gives you and the utility it has is wonderful, but it just can't compete with the Scorch Shot because it everything the Detonator can and is infinitely more intuitive, practical, and deals much more damage with direct hits, can be used to flare-jump, deals less damage to you when you do it, even if it's less air on the jumps, and it is quicker to dispose of stickies. It's actually sad. :/
I mean... say you have a floor with stickies. If you just got there and have maybe a second of reaction time to dispose of them, half the time the Detonator's manual detonation mechanic is going to screw you over. With the Scorch Shot it's just point and shoot, and it's done. Even the manual detonation, which requires much more skill to properly use, does not correctly reward players with more damage over the Scorch Shot, so it's only real advantage is detonating it up in places that are above you. That's it.
I wish that valve would nerf the Scorch Shot, and just make it deal less damage or something, whereas they would slightly buff the Detonator's overall damage. This would benefit the class a lot and promote players to use both weapons, instead of just the Scorch Shot, while we hipsters grumble with our precious Detonator.

@@mysticaltree4875 With Scorch Shot, however, you can destroy stickies AND flare jump. Also it deals more damage, can push enemies and you don't need to control its explosion radius.
