@@stanleyj.mitchell4851that defeats the whole purpose of having a 12v fridge lmao, if you have solar and the correct size battery you don't even need to worry about how often you open or close the fridge because you'll never get anywhere near the battery going flat
This is exactly why having a DC to DC charger is stupid because it relys on your car running to restock the battery, you SHOULD NOT need to take an esky too 🤦

Packing a fridge with items you want to keep really cold and not needed go to the bottom and things that you want to chill go to the top like lettuce, cucumber, cheese, butter & stuff. This is useful if you don't have a freezer compartment as the stuff packed at the bottom will almost freeze but not at the top. Also an empty fridge can't freeze air so if you take a tin of drink out put a warm one in, keep the fridge as full as possible.

    • @Malc664

I can understand this, our fridge is mounted in the left rear of our prado, the car is parked outside, and the left side gets all the western afternoon sun, our battery soon goes to under the low voltage setting, now we have the proper king's cover, and the window shade, I'm certain we have fixed rgis issue, we leave our fridge on 24/7, we purchased a king's charging system, which runs from the car battery, with heavy cables, through a modulator, to the batter in the rear, thanks your vidoe's are always on point.

My 12 volt refrigerator had an E1 error code. Not sure if error codes are the same for the different brands on the market. Leaving the refrigerator disconnected from current didn't solve my problem. After getting the error code to appear i touched a second button that was opposite of the other on button and the temperature showed up on the display and the error code has stayed off. I made sure that the refrigerator was level because the error code for E1 on one brand of refrigerator was for the fan. I had been moving the refrigerator around reorganizing where I was placing the unit in a different area which could have had a more than 30% pitch causing the error code E1 and problems with the fan. Hope this helps anyone in the future.

You made the same mistake as many campers do. You measured the open voltage at the end of the cable. This is incorrect. You have to do the measurement using the “running” fridge as a load…. Then probe your feed wire with sharp probes to see the voltage. Or use an adapter & probe the connector. The more current being drawn by the load at the end, the more volt drop you will get. This is why you need to use a thick copper cable. The current carrying capacity of a copper cable eg 40A is misleading. Go for 80A cable for less volt drop. See this video link for a better understanding.
