    I'm trying my best with my lab who is nearly 2 and just wants to play with every dog and gets easily over excited. I've put a lot of your training techniques to use and they do work but unfortunately I can't always control the situation and what other dog owners do, especially those who let their dog who is off leash come and run up to mine when I'm trying to train him. It's really frustrating.

    Was so impressed with this video that I had to comment. LOVE that one of the trainers was willing to admit she got too close to the other dog and what she did to correct it. Some trainers can be arrogant and say they did it on purpose but just love the honesty here. 5 stats I would hire these trainers any day

      We live in the mountains, so my pup has had very limited exposure to other people. Being a lab, she wants to to jump and lick and get all over our elderly neighbor when she comes over. I need to focus on training this skill by asking friends to visit and help, day after day.

    So you’re trying to distract the dog with food instead of the other dog. You’re doing that by calling their name. What if they are so focused on the other dog they ignore you? Then what? As soon as my dog sees another dog, they don’t even know I’m on the other end of the leash.

    We have a very similar problem with our Great Dane pup! Although, not just other dogs, smells and sniffing too! We struggle so much to get her attention, to even be interested in taking a treat. Toys are a big one, that's the one thing we can use to get her attention when out on walks and it works 9/10, but gets her quite amped up to the point where she will often start jumping up at the lead and biting at it once the toy goes away, if anybody have any advice on this, please, we'd be extremely grateful!

    We have one 6 month old puppy that has bad scared aggression towards other dogs. My family has dogs but they are also not very well trained and will be aggressive back. What is a way for me to train my dog (and possibly my families dog) to not be aggressive towards other dogs with what we have?

    Excellent video, though I do have a question about around 8:40. As Carol approaches the other dog and she got too close, as she turns away from distraction her hand is closed in front of the dog's nose. was she holding food in her hand to lure the dog away? Apologies for seeking clarification, I just want to make sure. My aim is to encourage the dog to offer the behaviour without resorting to luring.

    What if your dog is not food driven? I have tried every kind of treat down to high reward treats such as cooked chicken etc, but if there is another dog in view, my dog is so overly excited and that dog is all that they care about. (No matter how far away) if they can see them. For reference, My dog's intent is in no way aggressive toward other dogs, but overly eager to want to go play with them. I have also tried special toys and play to distract as well with no success. Thank you!! :)

      @@agnesmeszaros-matwiejuk8783 it's highly unlikely your dog has no food nor toy drive. It's probably a problem in you or your approach, being that you're not engaging enough for the dog or that you let the dog find it's own reinforcement when it choses to do so. Unless in distress, pain or complacency, your dog will be food driven. You could always try to use food when he is really hungry.

    • @bettinalykke5151
      @bettinalykke5151 10 місяців тому +2

      Try not feeding your dog several hours before the walk so it is very hungry when you walk it and then offer high value treats.
      Some dogs have a very high need for social interaction just like humans so that need must be satisfied before you can demand "unnatural" behavior from your dog in the beginning. Try takeing it to the dogpark for at least one hour and then train with it afterwards.

    Try working with your dog in your house with few distractions. Build that relationship and then slowly add distractions as she improves. It’s a process. When my 50# 6 mo old puppy pulls, I turn and walk the other way. It is exhausting, but she really improved with consistency. Good luck!

    Some dogs are hunting dogs by nature so their personality is different. We can't all send out dogs for constant training and need a hands on quick video. The dog focuses on you because you the source of the food.

      You need to look into touch training, also called tap training.
      Deaf dogs have their own methods, so you'll want to use those specific methods. Don't try to force training methods for hearing dogs, as they don't work. Deaf dogs have a whole set of other considerations you'll need to be aware of.
