I saw Dweezel play this tune live, by the end of the number he was crying ...then after a pause he apologized for getting emotional ....this song is that powerful.
I am going through the toughest breakup in my life and this song makes me cry everyday. It’s the perfect song for finality, farewells, ends and breakups. Let’s be alive. Let’s feel life and the human experience more than ever through this very best of Frank. Long live the King. This cover is exceptional. Thanks for sharing.
As great as Al doing "Race With Devil on Spanish Highway" or "Duel of the Jester and the Tyrant" is, when done right, a guitar player can kill ya with just a few notes and nice tone.
Would Frank be proud? Didn't he indicate that no one else was supposed to play this except Dweezil Zappa, or am I wrong? Or did he mean no one else was supposed to record it?
Frank Zappa had said on a few occasions, most recently shortly before his passing but also many years earlier while still quite alive that he didn't care if he was remembered at all. Seeing his music being performed by many different orchestras and young people who weren't around in his lifetime is testament that he will, and is, indeed, being remembered greatly.
On another UA-cam video, a musical band of mostly young millenials were playing another Zappa composition. The thing that struck me most was the joy in their faces as they played this rather difficult piece.
He also said that he didn't want anyone performing this particular song, because it's become such a signature piece of his. I wonder how they got permission?
This is exactly what I'm thinking. I'm glad some younger orchestras play his music. In this special case they might practise to get used to uncommon metres.
I can't imagine anyone close to FZ can be against a performance of this kind of level. BTW even his son Dweezil played this song in concert during recent tours in which he is keeping his father's music very much alive!
A composer like Frank Zappa, also known as Mother Superior :-) comes along only once in a few hundred years. The great classical composers were inventive also. Imagine if Beethoven or Mozart had access to an electric guitar, effects and a recording studio. Maybe they'd sound like Zappa. But probably not. Frank's music came in the beginning of the sixties, a time of massive social explosion. He lived in LA where he had the license to do what he wanted. I first listened to Uncle Meat in 1969 in Bogota, Colombia in 10th grade Spanish class during show and tell. Thank you, Nancy U. for bringing in that record. First time I heard it I thought it sucked the big one. That opinion didn't last long. I have never been the same person since, thank you FZ. Frank continues to record everything and will be releasing more albums for ever!
From the first listening in 1979 until a few minutes ago, this sublime masterpiece has always brought me to tears of joy and surrender as it seems to do to everyone I have ever played it to. I saw Frank several times and Dweezil as well. "Music and Frank Zappa are the Best"
I'm with you Attilio on this. From all I know of Zappa, which is obviously much less than his wife Gail, he would know better than to believe it would be possible to keep people from wanting to play such wonderful music. This I know, he said 'Music is the best'. Someone who respects music that much would want no restrictions on who could play and enjoy his music. If music isn't played, it dies. That's my opinion at least. Thanks for uploading this as well! Enjoyed every moment!!
@@nukiepoo Remember what Frank said on Filmore East about Bill Graham. It's sad that Bill Graham is closing down the Filmore. But I'm sure he'll get into something better. Same with Frank.
Dear Stefano,l think you should be proud of Francesco Zappa as a blood citizen even if he's American born and bred . He's the great Italian composer of the 20th century ,you may gladly put him among the great Italian musicians such as Salieri ,Puchini and Ennio Morricone among others
I feel bad for the guitarist during his great solo; he couldn't do the face melt to any of the orchestra members. Such a great performance from them all. Rock In Peace Frank Zappa
I like the buildup in this classic Zappa guitar solo. To ad an orchestra to it makes a lot of sence since Frank was writing classical music for rockband. I want to hear moore...
I as well miss Frank and how ironic that his music still applies regrettably namely the song “Trouble Everyday”. God when are going learn to just listen and learn from our mistakes as well as from ourselves. RIP your lifelong admirer, Too Tall Schneider.
you are right dude..but this fella' gets it "eyebrows" and all. tough call man..i like the orchestra and their arrangements. i am a mad drummer, who will learn the black page...with MS! was 17 when i heard it. i am now 54! music is the best.
Frank Zappa is the only reason to ever build a time machine

I saw that too. Guess what. A bunch of grown men around me were weeping as well, myself included. Long live Frank, Dweezil and his music.
@@michaelshalom5622 that might have happened to me too. Yeah, might have.
I believe the song was written around the time Dweezil was born….
Dweezil avoided playing the song for a good while. Seems obvious why….

I always do…. Regardless of my state of mind. Music is the best FZ
This song will play in my head as long as I live. Frank has somehow not left us. He is still here.
One Frank song that ALWATYS impresses me and Makes me Cry. I'm 54 now and STILL cry every time i Hear this tune.
This song is so simple that it takes extraordinary musicianship to sustain its beauty from start to finish; The Big Note has it.
As great as Al doing "Race With Devil on Spanish Highway" or "Duel of the Jester and the Tyrant" is, when done right, a guitar player can kill ya with just a few notes and nice tone.
If they don't play this at my funeral, I'm not going.
Best comment ever.
Very funny. Same goes for me.
Jajajajajajajaja ..........very good!!!!
AMEN BROTHER! My memorial better play this or I ain’t going either😊🤠
This makes me cry. Miss you Frank.
It's not sad it's...."FRANK"
I would thumb this up ten billion times
Well done. Usually the covers of this song include rather ham-fisted, heavy drumming. This was more tastefully done. Great guitar work as well.
Frank would be proud! A true tribute to his amazing composing ability
Would Frank be proud? Didn't he indicate that no one else was supposed to play this except Dweezil Zappa, or am I wrong? Or did he mean no one else was supposed to record it?
I loved it when the female cello player looked up to the heavens and smiled ....
@@paulinebutcherbird yes, No one was to record it except Dweezil!
@@AJStenh We seem to be in a minority here. Others disagree.

Frank played this song perfectly and differently every time
This has to be Zappa’s most emotional piece of music.

I don't believe that, wrong modesty. Every composer wants to be remembered

Música que llega al alma y al corazón, nostalgia, filosofía vida y muerte, obra magistral tiempo y espacio. Gracias zappa gracias.
Frank was a incredible human been, inteligente, con humor y una gran bondad que trascendía de su persona.
Pure Genius. Frank will live on through his composition. Love ya Frank. Rest my Friend
Absolutely superb version of Frank's most sublime song. Franks' music lives on and on and will endure as does Beethoven's or Mozart's.
Seen Frank a dozen times back in the day. Dweezil 2 dozen. Very fortunate indeed
Every version of this masterpiece I've heard is marvelous. Each one brings out new emotions. Thanks for adding to this rich canon.
The strings really add something to this Zappa masterpiece. I think Frank would have been impressed by this interpretation of his song!
A very melancholic song.
Probably this is the brightest, kind, beautiful music that the great Frank created!!!
Zappa music always. Now a day musicians need to learn from him
As long as we listen and play FZ's music; he will live on in our hearts and minds forever. Great googly moogly!
Enorme, tremenda, bellísima versión!
Very, very, very good performance. It was a coolest performance. I was affected.
touching , moving , eternal music . that's Frank for ya
