Haha! Excellent. Thank you so much. If you are ever in the market for vintage voiced humbuckers, the Monty's PAFs take a lot of beating. They were the making of this Tokai sound-wise
Finally I listen to the whole video (not always looking at you though :-) I used the download video & flash add-on for firefox btw. I like to download some videos and you were the 1st one with that add-on . BTW I play a similar guitar (Sunrise by Matsumoko) and it will be 40 years ago that I bought it in November 2020. It was re-fretted and has new Gibson-pick ups since 2007. Happy weekend and I liked your bluesy mood playing on this one.
I don't really understand the technical stuff. UA-cam says I must do it this way so I do it this way. Nobody would blame you for not looking at me....Hahahahahaha. Thanks for stopping by though. I appreciate it. I have just seen your Sunrise. I am going back now for another look.
@@PaulMcCaffreyfmac there are some videos I like to download ("for good"). I am "afraid" some day there will be no more www. as we know it and that you have to spend money for everything. I once started a website of my own. But I got spammed, hi-jacked etc.. I have not done there anything for years because of that. When I see a guitar like yours I always have to think of OTIS RUSH who I saw live in March 1980 (almost exactly 40 years ago). I later bought (mainly) because of him the Sunrise-Matsumoko-Gibson. Not a big name but a very good instrument. Best regards Frank
It is a better guitar than even I recall most of the time. I haven't played it for a wee while and it was pretty much perfectly in tune straight from the wall hanger. As for watching the whole thing your fortitude does you great credit and is very much appreciated here...Hahahahaha. Thanks so much Davie.
There is so much when coming from inside you ( I don't have the right word) when you play. Great playing, bravo Paul. Oh I agree with you, many do not even watch 2 mn....when I like ( like here) I watch all. But of course it's a little long: lucky I have only one 'Paul', as I have other friends I want to see perform. But I enjoy each second of this video. You take care too, stay save, home. Like 11 Joseph
Thank you so much Joseph. I really appreciate your kindness. I didn't realise it was 17 minutes until I had finished and there was no chance for me to cut it off and make it shorter. Shorter next time I promise :-D
I retired one year shy of ten years ago and have only been really sick once in that time, which I attribute to being a homebody. Staying home has it's attributes. So does staying on the couch and noodling on a guitar. Stay well, Paul.
If I could guarantee that AND make crooked politicians disappear I'd never want for friends....Hahahahahaha. Thanks so much z'bill, for dropping by and for the very kind words.
This is one of the Tokai’s I don’t own yet. Next on my list. Appears to be fairly light? I’ve just come off two lower back ops myself, was last at work on 13 December 2019. Good luck with yours!
It's a sweet guitar. Relatively cheap Korean made one immeasurably improved by putting in Monty's PAF pickups as the originals were super hot more suited for metal. It weighs just under 8lbs so it could be a lot worse. Backs are a bugger aren't they? I'm too tall and too fat to ever be right...Hahahahahahaha. I hope yours is good again soon
Oh, hello my friend. I just saw, it's 17mn ( and I am a little busy...). I will come during the weekend, don't want to miss this. See you later. Joseph
I'm very happy to see you here, there or anywhere z'bill. Yeah, the pickups were the making of this guitar and helped it fulfill its potential. Even so this video doesn't fully do it justice because the valves are on the way out on the amp and it is sounding a long way from as good as it can (in fact it has now stopped working altogether :-( )
Another reminder to find & play a Tokai guitar, any years better or worse than others? ... I totally thinks is funny to gig on those "Hit Subscribe And Click On The Bell Icon" folks ... so tedious to hear over & over. BTW I sometimes have to hunt down the hidden comments ... UA-cam can be frustrating sometimes.
Wayne Ridenhour there’s no such thing as “a better or worse” year for Tokai guitars. They are all made to the same high standards, in Japan or China. I believe the model in the video is a made in China model.
On exactly this subject I found this comment of yours purely by chance and don't believe I got any notification. Jim McDougall is both right and wrong. Japanese Tokais are better than those made elsewhere and the price will reflect this. Early Tokais from the .70s, sometimes called lawsuit guitars because they were more Fender and Gibson than Fender and Gibson were at that time can command quite high prices now and are collectable. I would say a Japanese Tokai is good 'out of the box' with decent pickups while those from elsewhere can benefit from upgrades. This Tokai 335 is a Korean one and the pickups were quite coarse sounding so I changed them for Monty's Pafs which are great. Sorry to have left you hanging Wayne
Nice playing sir Paul......wish i could play like you, bro.... Amzing and relaxing solos.....congratulations, buddy. All the best!
Thanks so much for the very kind words. They are much appreciated.
Did just that! subbed and belled! Nice guitar! Warm sound

I love that Tokai Paul and I always watch your vids all the way through...even when it's 17.40 mins long haha. Great video once again blues boy.

Relaxing and enjoyable to listen to. Cool jams, Paul!
Very much appreciated Alicia, as always
Awesome Tokai.....sure puts my Firefly to shame !!!! .......for whom the bell tolls......
I wouldn't bet on it s'bob. It is a dirt cheap Korean one with better PAF type pickups fitted which have made all the difference
hey FM. those monty paf's are sounding extra special coming through your fingers and heart today. play on my musical brother. peace, rich
Bless you Rich, always so kind :-)
