    I ordered an Epiphone 335.
I have several old Gibsons I love that I bought 50 to 60 years ago. I can’t afford a Gibson now but I can afford this.
    I’m pretty excited about it.
When I started playing no one collected guitars and no one wanted used guitars.
    So they were cheaper.
We didn’t have much money but I could afford a used Gold top, an es 175 and a Les Paul SG.
They are wonderful instruments but I’m
    Looking forward to this 355.
My main axe is a Strat. I can and have replaced it when stolen on tour.
I can replace the 335 too
But I could never afford to replace my old Gibsons.

I would never want to have a guitar worth over $5,000 just to enjoy guitar, It would make me feel materialistic. One of those guitars that would only be used and kept at home and I would feel that if anything went wrong it's likely to never get another one. Not just that but it's not enough to say that the Epiphones sound bad for what they are, even if Gibson is still sounding better. My main two guitars are the Player Series Maple HSS Stratocaster and the Epiphone Sheraton Pro II 335 and I'm never in the slightest wanting to buy American guitars. I'd rather have a Fender tube amp to make a greater difference.

Just got my Epiphone last week. I was disappointed to discover it did have a thicker neck. You actually pointed that out to my but after I had ordered it. After setup and a couple of days playing it I’m beginning to change my mind with the neck. I’m actually loving it. The tones are incredible. I can only compare this against my Gibson LP signature T 2013 model with slim tapper neck. I agree 100% with your assessment regarding slim tapper vs rounded C. What I was nervous of is that I had an inspired by G LP Special in TV yellow. It had the 50’s fat neck and I could not get comfortable with the neck. Shame because the P90’s were killer good. Anyway I was hoping when the ES335 arrived that it would not be as thick as the 50’s style. It is not. It’s somewhere in between. Great review. I found this video extremely helpful. Oh and I also agree that I can not tell the difference in tone between my Gibson LP with Classic 57’s vs the new ES 335.

Glad you like it, David. I’ve found that different necks tend to affect how I play more than anything else. If I’m playing something more soulful or music that’s based in Jazz or Blues, the thicker neck really helps me play accurately. It’s a weird thing to describe.

@@IkeGuitar exactly. Not hard to understand your comment. It’s exactly the way I feel. I’m definitely keeping the ES. Thanks again for the great info and videos.

@@davelinstead4052 I am very close to pulling the trigger on this ..basically, I am concerned about the neck because I can't tell what it means. The Marty Swartz guitar is kinda talking to me. The older trad pro's with the " Improved " headstock also.. eh I could get one cheaper but also I hear the neck is thinner. I wish I could just go play one of each.

I love my sheraton pro ii but I definitely hear a difference and when you went with the overdrive the Gibson was so much better, No one can argue the custom Gibson finishes are colour options are just 100% better.@@IkeGuitar

Too deep of a thought for a Chinese made guitar

Nice comparison!! I just bought the same guitar I liked very much .... could you tell me the measure of your pickups from the strings on both pick ups? I appreciate!! Thanks, Paulo

That’s super subjective. But typically I just raise or lower depending on what I use the guitar for. More cleans and jazz they will run lower. If I like them hot they will be higher.

It is a hard choice to make. The Epiphone offers so much for the price factor. The Gibson I respect as they pay their workers a good and sustainable wage, but it does not mean you get the best as a player!

Depends on the workers. The people actually building your Gibson guitar make between $18,000-$40,000 ( most much closer to that 18 sum). The other departments, IT R&D Legal head of sales ect can make low 6 figures and the rest is for the share holders.

Not for me buddy, I'm sticking with my two All-American Pro Apple Pie Uncle Sam Strats.
Love them both, and every day I salute the one with the Indian Rosewood neck, grown right in downtown New Delhi, Oklahoma...or something.
Then I pledge allegiance to the neck, of the Canadian Maple of America.
It's the least I can do.
