It's a great game with great physics and it makes a lot of fun. Even if it comes of legal age next year. You should know some things: In the air you can't steer. Steer earlier, before you leave the ground. (Edit: That also means if you collect something under your front wheels, you can't steer - be aware of it. It has always a reason. And if you are hit by other drivers, you are not fast enough ;-) ). Boost doesn't only make you faster, it stabilizes you. Use it, if you are loosing control. If you turned your car in the right direction, boost will bring you to where you want to go to. Upgrade your car for good control and of course make it faster. If you played it a lot, you will love the rear-wheel drive cars. You can steer also with the throttle. The music is amazing. Even Nickleback was good in 2006 - unbelievable. ;-) (OK, I hear a lot of Rock, for instance star fm of Nurenberg, Germany, so it suits for me) I play it on Linux. I could boot Windows, but Linux is my working operating system. That's why I sometimes play Flatout 2 even today. Wreckfest isn't for Linux and you know it already - I don't switch my operating system for a small race. Have fun 🙂
I had planned on doing a review and comparison of the 2 games actually. This video was fairly free scripted. I just tend to talk about stuff in the moment.
Just got Flatout 2 in the Steam sale, and it's f*ckin' awful! Only thing good about it is the crash animation and some of the music. But that can't compensate for how absolutely shite the gameplay is. Graphics look like a ps2 game. And the controller support sucks giant arse too. It wouldn't use the steam controller support, so had to use xpadder. The vehicles didn't feel in contact with the ground. It's not even worth a quid in the sale FFS 🥴😅😆
Good thing, that some people are still talking about this game

I'm surprised you didn't mention flatout ultimate carnage which is basically just an updated version of flatout 2

Hi 👋
Just got Flatout 2 in the Steam sale, and it's f*ckin' awful! Only thing good about it is the crash animation and some of the music. Well. The game was released in 2006 on the PS2... Its also old so not everything is going to function correctly with a modern controller.
