Downside is ofc at things that rubber banding is bad and the thing that when you are very ahead they start dying in the back because they have huge acceleration, top speed and no turning or bigger gravity when they jump, overjump and crash :D Also the ones that are first becomes slower than they should be because poor Frank Malkov is 2 laps behind :D I modded the game by removing rubber banding and actually when Jack Benton does not crash at the start and becomes first in the first round - you have big problem in caching him when you have slow car. As a veteran Flatout player I'd say Flatout UC is the overall best. Flatout 2 can't really compete with that because most of the issues it had were fixed in UC. And also it's not really comparable as UC was build on FO2. However the soundtrack of FO2 still might be one of the best racing games soundtracks of all time till this day. Most of the people that would prefer FO2 over UC have mostly nostalgia reasons which is understandable.
I am playing FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage on my Xbox 360 right before beating FlatOut 2 on PC, and holy molly, I am absolutely LOVING this game. It is, by far, the racing game that I had more fun playing, and I've played a lot of good racing games, like Forza Horizon (1, 2, 4 and 5), Need For Speed (MW, U, U2, Carbon), Midnight Club LA, and the list goes on! And I've never had half of the fun in all of these games compared to my experience with FlatOut 2 and Ultimate Carnage. I highly recommend these games, and I agree that they're extremely underrated.
This game is fire 🥰 Have been playing 1st and UC roughly for about 10 years now and I still love those games! And on UC you can still occasionally find some online lobby. I have even heard that on the FlatOut 2 there are still at least 5 servers, that are nearly full of people.
Great video. I only recently discovered the Flatout games. I used to love Burnout games especially Burnout 3: Takedown back in the day, somehow the Flatout games completely passed me by back then. But I actually think Ultimate Carnage may at least as good if not better than Burnout 3. I really like Wreckfest too as well, great fun, maybe just as playable as Ultimate Takedown but the soundtrack lets it down for me. Be good to see a ranking video from you on the Burnout games.

I always thought Ultimate Carnage was just Flatout2 with minor graphics upgrade, but I prefer Flatout2 because of brighter visuals. It is my favorite racing game together with Dirt2. It has very active multiplayer, but to make it work you have to follow some instructions.
what's cool is how steam has just updated flatout ultimate carnage to work with steam deck and they removed the stupid games for windows live crap that gets in the way, added achievements and fixed some bugs, just a few days ago on the 7th of march. this game is again playable without having to download games for windows live workarounds just to open the game let alone save your progress.
Cool yeah but not cool they added trophies like Call of Duty .... What i would rather love is to make the AI from the drivers more challenging and harder .
@@Ezdine_G8261 Yes stupid achievements "trophees" like that was suddenly needed they even added it on Flatout 1 ..... seriously who are moaning for that ? Surely not people from 35-55 yo's who not care about it . Playing a game is to vent and enjoy after a working day/school day/or being sick ...who sincerely care about those achievements tbh ? Same goes to who really cares someone played for xxx hours a certain game ? The Flatout original was amazing back in the day. I couldn't believe that launching your driver would be allowed in a game and that it could be so addictive. I spent hours on the high jump trying to get out of the stadium and was truly amazed when I did. I wish a revamped combo of 1 and 2 would hit the modern consoles.
@ironbutterflyrusted no lol, i always loved watching the arena gamemode (i think they were called derbys or something) and just loved all the wreckage going on like it was a tv show lol
@@caingamin2 🤣🤣🤣just me then👍 Yeah excellent replays, somebody actually put some thought into it. Reminded me of the original "Dukes of Hazard" TV series, with the "General Lee".
I am a HUGE fan of the Flat Out franchise and I have to say I think the PS2 version is the best of them all. The car physics have a bit more realism to them than other console versions. The cars look better on the tracks, too. The way they kick up dirt and and run on different surfaces seems a bit more realistic as well.
The physics, handling and damage modelling of the OG Flatout has a special place in my heart for me, and for sure making it my number 1. Put many hours in that game as a kid with my bro, and still love revisiting it every few years or so now. UC is no doubt is a solid game too. We don't talk about Flatout 3 & 4 lol
I never had those issues with the original flatout. I kept replaying it all day, everyday. There are no issues with turning. The awesome music that I listen to to this day. There were no flaws or issues in my 10 years of playing the game.
The first one eas one of the game we had when the kids and I still lived at home. Loved it. There was one track that had forested hills above it that were a blast to explore
I loved flatout 1, I raced so much I grossed over a $1,000,000.00 dollars in racing by hitting everything an comming back on passing ever car on the track to take 1st place an beat the game by unlocking everything! Bring carniage back an more awsome destrucution too! Miss those days!!!
i remember playing flatout 2 when i was like 4 to 5 years old in windows 7, it was my favorite game and still is to this day, no racing game can compare.
flatout 2 was the ONLY racing game i played growing up.. like literally age 5 to age 16 while i had a potato computer? the best game i ever played i d say still
Ayo, finally someone who isn't idealising FO2 over FOUC. I spent countless of hours playing that game and beating my scores in destruction races in the 2nd mode. Also you didn't say in the video that compared to FO2 they have added 4 new A.I., a lot more destructible scenery, and a few cars
I’m a big fan of racing games but overlooked this series for whatever reason 😐 Thanks for drawing my attention to it. I’m enjoying Wreckfest right now so I’ll have to try and pick up a few of these some day.
There was a version of Flatout 2 on the PSP that I played a bunch of. Ultimate Carnage is the only one I play nowadays. Built my first PC to play it, among others. Such a damn good game. And so is Wreckfest. Both are gems.
What I love about the FOUC and all 3 Flatout games is the destruction really affects your vehicle....if you break some wheel axle, you will have way more difficulty to hold to the pavement, if you break the doors or hood, your speed is affected, it is as realistic and outrageously out of touch with reality it is without a doubt the best racing game ever.........almost all other racing games feel like you are driving a bullet which is slippering over a buttered pan.................this game you actually FEEL THE WEIGHT of the car whenever you are maneuvering, at the point you move along the car because you feel dragged by it..............and BTW, this games should be played only in PC.....can't understand how someone can use joysticks to play racing games.
Nah, only real thing that happening is without wheel you'll lose speed and acceleration, everything else is placebo. But, fouc have handling damage exclusively for multiplayer, and with that you actually have breakable handling and suspension
@@AIFT_Staff no, if you break an axle or your tires start to wobble, you lose a lot of traction, and you barely can turn your car (at that point you have to either use the walls to turn, other cars, or constaly get out of the track and respawn to keep running)
I started on Flatout Head On which was basically Flatout 2 ported to PSP & that was probably my most played game on the PSP. I didn't have a pc until 2018 & I still went ahead & bought UC off steam & still play it every now & then today. It's a great game. Sad it died bc of Flatout 3. That basically killed the franchise imo.
wreckfest is just... mid. its not flatout, it has no soul, you wont ever say "god damn DiKsHooTer, gotta take him out", no, its just a random npc driving random npc car doing random npc things.
Showing all flatout games, playing UT99 soundtrack as background music for one of them. My man :) Anyway my favorite is Flatout2 for its physics. Ultimate carnage is much more fancy indeed, but has much less sophisticated physics. Okay, in FO2 cars weight was unreal, but I really loved it. The big jumps, and how spectacular crashes were possible with that physics. I hope for a Flatout2 remaster some time in my life.
Flatout ultimate carnage is not only the most best game but my first ever game I could never thank you enough for putting that masterpiece into first place 11:19 PAUSE!!
I only played 2 (as a kid, like 10 years ago) and UC (more recently), and I love both. Music wise, I prefer 2, but everything else is better in UC. Probably the best part are 4 new opponents, so there are always 4 more cars to destroy on the track! :D
Great video loved it, I‘m currently playing flatout 1 bc I want to make a video about all games and I really love it. As a child I always played flatout 1 & 2 and since then I fell in love with those two games. And Wreckfest is a also a really good racing game!
FO2 and UC are among my favorite childhood games. I just wish FOUC retained the same driving than FO2, because it became too arcady, and the IA is a bit easier to get through too. Also, the mass of IA cars is lighter than the Player car, which is a bit off sometimes how you can send them flying while when they hit you they almost stop their course. But despite that, they are awesome games. And FO1 deserves the play too, the style is a bit different and it’s kind of the predecessor of Wreckfest. Also the OST is quite nice.
Great video I LOVED. Well love lol ultimate carnage flatout 4 is on sale at the moment for £2.24 lol so I may buy it. Have avoided it so far because of bad reviews but.
3 other Flatout games not mentioned in this vid: Flatout Head On: Basically a PSP port of Flatout 2/Ultimate Carnage Flatout Wii: Basically a Wii version of Flatout 3 (and is just as bad) Flatout Stuntman: A mobile game featuring the ragdoll minigames from the main games
Btw Flatout 3 was made by Team6, they didn't give a shit about making a good racing game, they are a company specializing in shovelware. Ironically, Flatout 3 is probably their best work to date.
While I love. love. love flatout 2 despite not growing up with it. I did grow up with the original Stuntman on the ps2 which is widely considered the dark souls of racing games. And for the time (2002) the physics and damage model was like witch craft for the time.
The problem with U. C. is the force feedback, they broke it and replace it with a permanent vibration. That´s why I keep playing FL2. FL2 is perfect with wheel.
I agree with everything in this video, and yes ultimate carnage is unparalleled. One other you should look at (produced by bugbear) is ridge racer unbound. It has its issues for sure, but it does play like a spiritualish continuation. Give it a try id like to hear what you think
Im surprised that you didn’t compare it to burnout series from craterion. Other than that I of course agree with everything else. Nice video of a hiden gem
Been playing the collecters edition update for ultimate carnage. It's so good. Back when it came out, my PC couldn't run it! So i could only play it when at friends house or something.
what i used to like in the game npc drivers making fun by them owns, sometimes u driving last and seeing they do some crazy things and you smashing one of them in the wall
I believe FO:UC had some decent tracks, but I felt many--about 1/2 to 2/3--were a bit too grungy, in the sense that they were not as memorable or catchy (unless into a little more heavy metal and/or scrapyard-styled themes), where sometimes the standard set by the quality of the song sometimes felt a little less or a little off than that of the game's theme. Flatout 2's soundtrack was the king, the fullest that really emphasized a collection of memorable tracks that alone, each peerlessly carried their own weight in creating and matching the Flat Out universe--furthermore how there was not a moment where I thought for any song that it felt like an "outlier" to the set or an extra song added in to make the cut. And with the soundtrack together, it really felt like the effort put into making the collection was real--you felt the dedication, the attention to detail in compiling the soundtrack, as there was seldom a moment in thinking that one doesn't fit and nearly always the moments where the tune becomes the race. In summary, Ultimate Carnage (and even Flatout 1) had some banger tracks, but I believe in combination with the game's theme and representing what Flatout really is, Flatout 2's soundtrack made the cake in solidifying the action of racing, adrenaline, speed, and what is feels, in Flatout and racing, to cross that finish line victoriously.
Yeah, as long as the refresh rate is set to 50 Hz. The motion is kinda juddery if not set to 50 or 100 (the latter being above the limit of the steam deck sadly).
Bro, I played only in FlatOut 1&2, and I liked it, I don't know, what music in ultimate carnage, but music in FlatOut 2 just bomb. I'm very like Yellowcard-Breathing, and in original game music also good 🫡
I am currently playing Flatout 4 and absolutely love it, I am having a blast, and yes I did play 2 a lot and loved that game to death. I can understand that if you don't like it much it's a matter of opinion, but what are you on about with the rubberbanding AI stuff?? Did you even play the game? That is simply not true AT ALL
I'm going to be honest, I recently completed Flatout 4 and I have to say that it's not a bad game at all, but it's true that it's not a good Flatout either. I enjoyed playing it, I think it's a good arcade to hang out, and you can really tell that the developers tried to revive the saga, but they lacked to polish many aspects. I bought it for 5 dollars and for that price it's worth it, it's not a real Flatout but hey, as an destruction derby arcade game it's not bad.
FlatOut 2 and Ultimate Carnage are legit two of the best racing and overall best games out there.

I always thought Ultimate Carnage was just Flatout2 with minor graphics upgrade, but I prefer Flatout2 because of brighter visuals. It is my favorite racing game together with Dirt2. It has very active multiplayer, but to make it work you have to follow some instructions.
Listening to the flatout 2 UC soundtrack while playing wreckfest 👌🏻👌🏻
The fact that you used Go Down from Unreal Tournament 1999 while talking about Flatout UC is the reason I am subscribing.
what's cool is how steam has just updated flatout ultimate carnage to work with steam deck and they removed the stupid games for windows live crap that gets in the way, added achievements and fixed some bugs, just a few days ago on the 7th of march. this game is again playable without having to download games for windows live workarounds just to open the game let alone save your progress.
Cool yeah but not cool they added trophies like Call of Duty .... What i would rather love is to make the AI from the drivers more challenging and harder .
@@defiraphi trophies like call of duty? are you talking about steam achievements?
@@Ezdine_G8261
Yes stupid achievements "trophees" like that was suddenly needed they even added it on Flatout 1 ..... seriously who are moaning for that ? Surely not people from 35-55 yo's who not care about it . Playing a game is to vent and enjoy after a working day/school day/or being sick ...who sincerely care about those achievements tbh ?
Same goes to who really cares someone played for xxx hours a certain game ?
My god i certainly played thousands of hours Unreal Tournament 1999 , Counter Strike 1.5&1.6 , Quake 3 Arena , etc ... sadly i cannot prove it because Steam or other programms not existed but We as I had real fun at least as the reward was just beer&pizza or other things .
I haven’t even watched the video yet and I think I can already guess the order
5: FlatOut 3
4: FlatOut 4 (heh)
3: FlatOut
2: FlatOut 2
1: FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage
Edit: Booyah
Flatout 2 was my favorite, never played ultimate carnage but definitely going to try and find it!
Only thing I miss in Flatout 2 or UC is snow maps like in first game. Otherwise one of the best demolition racing game I played.
Same here, Ultimate Carnage is my favorite. Also, I 100% agree with your ranking of the FlatOut games, cuz ya know, I believe I think the same way as you bruh.
Oh my god i forgot doing this as a kid, we may not have had much back then but im so glad i grew up with this game
@@caingamin2
Did you do a 360 on the starting platform to make the replays look better ?🤣....been there👍
@ironbutterflyrusted no lol, i always loved watching the arena gamemode (i think they were called derbys or something) and just loved all the wreckage going on like it was a tv show lol
@@caingamin2
🤣🤣🤣just me then👍
Yeah excellent replays, somebody actually put some thought into it. Reminded me of the original "Dukes of Hazard" TV series, with the "General Lee".
Flatout 2 OST are just legendary 👍😁
Flatout 2 is so much fun, very underrated. Although Wreckfest looks good it doesn't live up to the original Flatout 1 & 2. Forget No.3
Sad Flatout & Burnout are nolonger around.
I just got Flatout 1 yesterday!
I grew up with Flatout 2
It has a very special place in my heart as being one of the best racing/derby games I’ve ever played
This ranking was spot on. Just bought flat out 2 on steam after watching this video. Cant wait to go back down memory lane!
What music do you use in the background for Flat-out 3?
the only reason i would put flat out 1 in 1st place is nostalgia
Flatout is just one of the best racing games saga. Totally enjoyable and fun to race and destroy
Ultimate carnage was my chikdhood game is a hiden gem
I can't help but laugh in the beginning of the video talking about Flatout when I hear Whale level from Super Monkey Ball 2 as the background music
flatout 2 was the ONLY racing game i played growing up.. like literally age 5 to age 16 while i had a potato computer? the best game i ever played i d say still
Ayo, finally someone who isn't idealising FO2 over FOUC. I spent countless of hours playing that game and beating my scores in destruction races in the 2nd mode. Also you didn't say in the video that compared to FO2 they have added 4 new A.I., a lot more destructible scenery, and a few cars
I’m a big fan of racing games but overlooked this series for whatever reason 😐
Thanks for drawing my attention to it.
I actualy prefer flatout 2 over uc, but thats mainly caused by nostalgia :D
me too and for all music in game are best than uc
I like 2 more cus its so nice and sunny and the songs are happier
Dude, my TV settings make it look like 2s so called color environment. Yes. It's a thing.
Honestly, I feel that 2 takes the cake here simply because of the soundtrack. It is stellar.
That basically killed the franchise imo.
i love flatout 1 mainly bcs of nostlagia but also bcs of the Intro like
GODDAM bad boys really fits the game
wreckfest is just... mid. its not flatout, it has no soul, you wont ever say "god damn DiKsHooTer, gotta take him out", no, its just a random npc driving random npc car doing random npc things.
Showing all flatout games, playing UT99 soundtrack as background music for one of them. My man :)
Anyway my favorite is Flatout2 for its physics. Ultimate carnage is much more fancy indeed, but has much less sophisticated physics. Okay, in FO2 cars weight was unreal, but I really loved it. The big jumps, and how spectacular crashes were possible with that physics. I hope for a Flatout2 remaster some time in my life.
I wish if Wreckfest has the course of shopping mall and greenhouse through!
It is the best moment in F2UC when you dive in those.
Good video but you missed Flatout for the Wii, Flatout Stuntman for mobile phones and Flatout Head On
Funny thing about Flatout for Wii... it got recycled and turned into Flatout 3. So technically, no, he didn't miss it
Flatout ultimate carnage is not only the most best game but my first ever game I could never thank you enough for putting that masterpiece into first place 11:19 PAUSE!!
Flatout 2 soundtrak might be one of the best soundtracks in the history of racing games.
Idk man I always have a blast with flatout 4,and some songs like hell ride, see you in hell, never die old,etc are great
I have wreckfest and its great, but its not Flatout.
Can we get Ultimate Carnage on xbox one s?
3 other Flatout games not mentioned in this vid:
Flatout Head On: Basically a PSP port of Flatout 2/Ultimate Carnage
Flatout Wii: Basically a Wii version of Flatout 3 (and is just as bad)
Flatout Stuntman: A mobile game featuring the ragdoll minigames from the main games
Nice, just got this on Steam for 4 bucks. And I got 2 for $2! These should be great on the Deck.
Totally missed this serie until 2022. Flatout 2, Ultimate Carnage and Flatout is my rating.
My first flatout game story, I convinced my grandma that Flatout CD is a moovie so she bought it for me, no regrets.
Im surprised that you didn’t compare it to burnout series from craterion. Other than that I of course agree with everything else. Nice video of a hiden gem
Flatout Ultimate Carnage was the TRUE 3rd title, and the last truly great entry.
Flatout 1 and Ultimate Carnage were my childhood
In summary, Ultimate Carnage (and even Flatout 1) had some banger tracks, but I believe in combination with the game's theme and representing what Flatout really is, Flatout 2's soundtrack made the cake in solidifying the action of racing, adrenaline, speed, and what is feels, in Flatout and racing, to cross that finish line victoriously.
the nightmare buzz music is very fitting
I just got FO2 on sale for 2.99 and love it. If you like racing combat another gem is Gas Guzzlers Extreme.
wow what a creative list
Playing Ultimate Carnage on the Steam Deck OLED is one of the greatest gaming experiences PERIOD
Yeah, as long as the refresh rate is set to 50 Hz. The motion is kinda juddery if not set to 50 or 100 (the latter being above the limit of the steam deck sadly).
@@MetalJody1990 i just started playing it it feels buttery smooth for me (:
@@snoopdoggdankkush9285 Alrighty then :)
Flatout 2 is my favorite racing game. I did not know about Ultimate Carnage. I will be buying it immediately!
I just buyed today after watching the vedio even I don't know this game exist
Awesome video!
For me number 1 will always be Flatout 2, it was fun, the cars were cool and the soundtrack was an absolute banger
Bro, I played only in FlatOut 1&2, and I liked it, I don't know, what music in ultimate carnage, but music in FlatOut 2 just bomb. I'm very like Yellowcard-Breathing, and in original game music also good 🫡
Did you just say Flatout never had good AI? I am offended...
I'm not a big fan of racing games, but Flatout 2 is a lot of fun with friends and at any lan party. never really played it by myself
Ultimate Carnage rocks. Already have put 100 hours into it on Steam. Still doesn't get boring.
