- Howdy Tubular gamers we are ranking a very underrated racing series known as Flatout, and while some games are garbage, there are some diamonds in the rough here! Enjoy!

FlatOut 2 and Ultimate Carnage are legit two of the best racing and overall best games out there.
Race driver grid enters the chat. Jk jk everyone has a favorite and I need to try out flatout 2. I have wreckfest and it’s a hell of a good game. Too bad it died before gaining some real traction(thanks team 6).
No
@@wolfhaley9999 Yes.
@@DedAlexFive then you havent played shit
UC is better because not only it has better graphics, but more racers, more gamemodes with THE SAME PHYSICS AND GAMEPLAY!
The damage model is so detailed that if you switch the viewpoint to the front of your vehicle you can see the fan blades in the engine turning!
Yeah, you don't see that too often even in newer games
One point to add. Flatout 2 drivers had their own driving styles. Sofia Martinez, Jack Benton and Katie Jackon are some of the notable drivers whom you would immediately ram into the wall if you get the chance.
Hell yeah, Jason Walker is my favorite, dude is a total beast with no sense of self preservation :D
@@Rottenberg666 sofia martinez is usually dominating in earlier derby class races
@@CertifiedWTRPerson I know. Also it's funny how she gets the weakest cars in both derby (Chili) and race (CTR) class and then gets a total monster in street class (Canyon) :D
I used to get nervous when Jack or Sofia was approaching me to get the 1st place position. I would try hard to block them. 😆
Katie jackson? She usually places 6-7th and has ZERO patience, you mean sofia martinez right?
10:10 Just quick note for the AI here. I love how in FO2 and FOUC each AI is different - they don't differ just by car but also by driving style and their reactions. Some avoid collision (Ray), some force it (Katie), some crash when you touch them (Sally and many more :D), some are almost impossible to force from track by small crash (Lewis) and many more differences - I can write essay about it xD I don't know what other racing game is like this.
When you were talking about rubber banding. In FOUC there are actually 2 types of it. One is normal, where they are faster behind you and slower in front of you. Second one is rubber banding to each other as a 'pack'. It does similar thing and outcome is that they drive closer to each other (as a pack), so more action is together and around you. Downside is ofc at things that rubber banding is bad and the thing that when you are very ahead they start dying in the back because they have huge acceleration, top speed and no turning or bigger gravity when they jump, overjump and crash :D Also the ones that are first becomes slower than they should be because poor Frank Malkov is 2 laps behind :D
I modded the game by removing rubber banding and actually when Jack Benton does not crash at the start and becomes first in the first round - you have big problem in caching him when you have slow car. Even if you pick Sunray as he has you can have some problems to catch him if you do 2 or more mistakes per lap.
Thank you for the cool and informative info! Does your rubber banding mod still work for the latest update?
@@TheRetroRenit does, got it from nexus mods
I can agree with everything, but fo2's soundtrack is unbeatable
same here, perfect intro, perfect trailer
UC with FO2 soundtrack= perfect race game
Spot on. Although a quick shout out to Flatout: Head On, which while featuring some technical downgrades to the frame rate and visuals, gave a solid Flatout experience on the go.
The constantly switching music bug not withstanding
@@Lucas17031 is that not a problem within just emulators?
That never happened to me with my psp
Ahhh man I used to take this game with me everywhere on my psp as a kid, thats how I found the flat-out series
And the fact that FlatOut Head On is actually FlatOut 2, but with the soundtrack and the Carnage mode from UC added to the mix.
I honestly only remember the 1st one. But man I played it hours on hours wen I was a kid. It was one of thoz games where I had zero concept of what to do or how to play. But I would just drive around and crash the car for hours. Shooting the driver to see how high he could go was always fun too.
Hell yeah dude same! Great memories 😂❤
you forgot the best part, there are cars in FlatOut 2 and Ultimate Carnage who use car sounds from FlatOut 1. for example: the SwitchBlade sounds like the Blade from the first game. the SpeeDevil sounds like the Bullet from the first game. i like this, its a nice thing
I remember the first flatout and I didn't know they made more. I fell in love with wreckfest and it was a MINDBLOWER to find out they're cousins lol
Hell yes dude I was ADDICTED to FlatOut2 during the PS2 era. Been hoping for a rerelease or another game like it for PS4 ever since.
few days ago I found a game called Trail Out and it really gave me FlatOut vibes.. check it out it's great
Flatout: Headon (PSP) - Looks like a blend of all the games - While I've only played the PSP version, I think it's one of the best racing games/series ever. Reminds me of all the crashing I'd do in gta 4 for similar reasons. Nice video mAn, the trashing of those couple of games was hilarious 🤣
It is just FO2 with music from UC.
I am a huge fan of BugBear with their Wreckfest Demo aka "Next Car Game". The physics and the ai are so smart in that game. Honestly, Bugbear knows how to make a destrouction racing game. It's amazing.
Man I remember the days when me and my older brother played FlatOut 2. It was SO FUN. And when I sya fun, it means solid fun. It's one of my most favorite games considering that I played a lot more games than usually people play. I didn't have the Flatout UC, but I still do have the Flatout 2 at my grandma's house. Really enjoy remembering the old days.
thank you for the nostalgia.. ultimate carnage was an absolute blast to play with friends on LAN. 10/10
I will never forget growing up playing flatout 2 on my uncle's computer
I think one hidden gems behind all these is Flatout Head On on the PSP. That’s the first Flatout game that introduced me to the series. Definitely recommend playing it. Graphics and performance are on the PSP so that may vary but the bones of the game is great!
It is just a port of Flatout 2. Great for its time as a portable version but nowadays a PC version can be played on Steam Deck.
Damnn, back in the day me and my friends used to play this in LAN, 8 ppl, beer, weed, and many many hours spent on FlatOut 2UC, Destruction most of the time. Love the game
what's cool is how steam has just updated flatout ultimate carnage to work with steam deck and they removed the stupid games for windows live crap that gets in the way, added achievements and fixed some bugs, just a few days ago on the 7th of march. this game is again playable without having to download games for windows live workarounds just to open the game let alone save your progress.
I played the first FlatOut on Xbox back in 2005 when I was in the 5th grade and I thought it was an absolute masterpiece back then, I thought the graphics and ragdoll physics and the damage modeling on the cars was the best I'd seen at the time
i am just sad that no mention is given to the soundtrack of FALTOUT 2 being maybe one of the best soundtracks in any racing game ever made, i mean ALAKALINE TRIO ? YELLOW CARD ? those songs i still listen to even today, maybe the most insane selection of amazing songs in 1 game ever.
Great video. I only recently discovered the Flatout games. I used to love Burnout games especially Burnout 3: Takedown back in the day, somehow the Flatout games completely passed me by back then. But I actually think Ultimate Carnage may at least as good if not better than Burnout 3. I really like Wreckfest too as well, great fun, maybe just as playable as Ultimate Takedown but the soundtrack lets it down for me. Be good to see a ranking video from you on the Burnout games.
I have considered it, but I have not played all of them yet. Maybe in the new year I can get to playing all of them! Ive only ever finished Paradise and its arguably my favorite racing game of all time
@@TotallyTubularJonathan Paradise was fun but I enjoyed the older Burnout titles and their more arcade nature a lot more personally. Wasn't a huge fan of the open world in comparison, I think other racing games have done the open world better
The fact that you used Go Down from Unreal Tournament 1999 while talking about Flatout UC is the reason I am subscribing.
This game is fire 🥰
Have been playing 1st and UC roughly for about 10 years now and I still love those games! And on UC you can still occasionally find some online lobby. I have even heard that on the FlatOut 2 there are still at least 5 servers, that are nearly full of people.
Flatout 2 was my favorite, never played ultimate carnage but definitely going to try and find it!
I remenber playing flatout 2 with my dad on the ps2 i have so many memories and i think that if i hadnt played that game a long with a few others i woulnt be playing games to this day and that i would be a much different person i just cant image were i would be if i hadnt played those games they are such a Big part of my childhood and i loved every single moment i spend on those games
They need to bring it back...so much potential, I used to play the modes where u launch out the car-darts fire high jump etc and pass the controller to my friend n see who does the best now they could make online modes man itd be fun 🤣
Great video loved it, I‘m currently playing flatout 1 bc I want to make a video about all games and I really love it. As a child I always played flatout 1 & 2 and since then I fell in love with those two games.
And Wreckfest is a also a really good racing game!
Listening to the flatout 2 UC soundtrack while playing wreckfest 👌🏻👌🏻
Flatout Head On is my favourite PSP game. I still go back for a race or two every so often.
This ranking was spot on. Just bought flat out 2 on steam after watching this video. Cant wait to go back down memory lane!
I always thought Ultimate Carnage was just Flatout2 with minor graphics upgrade, but I prefer Flatout2 because of brighter visuals. It is my favorite racing game together with Dirt2. It has very active multiplayer, but to make it work you have to follow some instructions.
I’m a big fan of racing games but overlooked this series for whatever reason 😐
Thanks for drawing my attention to it. I’m enjoying Wreckfest right now so I’ll have to try and pick up a few of these some day.
What music do you use in the background for Flat-out 3?
I never had those issues with the original flatout. I kept replaying it all day, everyday. There are no issues with turning. The awesome music that I listen to to this day. There were no flaws or issues in my 10 years of playing the game.
Idk man I always have a blast with flatout 4,and some songs like hell ride, see you in hell, never die old,etc are great
Only thing I miss in Flatout 2 or UC is snow maps like in first game. Otherwise one of the best demolition racing game I played.
I wish if Wreckfest has the course of shopping mall and greenhouse through!
It is the best moment in F2UC when you dive in those.
I am playing FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage on my Xbox 360 right before beating FlatOut 2 on PC, and holy molly, I am absolutely LOVING this game. It is, by far, the racing game that I had more fun playing, and I've played a lot of good racing games, like Forza Horizon (1, 2, 4 and 5), Need For Speed (MW, U, U2, Carbon), Midnight Club LA, and the list goes on! And I've never had half of the fun in all of these games compared to my experience with FlatOut 2 and Ultimate Carnage. I highly recommend these games, and I agree that they're extremely underrated.
i installed Ultimate carnage but it doesn't recognize my Xbox controller despite setting it up in the settings and the controller works in games like GTA IV/V
do you know how to solve the issue ?
I loved flatout 1, I raced so much I grossed over a $1,000,000.00 dollars in racing by hitting everything an comming back on passing ever car on the track to take 1st place an beat the game by unlocking everything! Bring carniage back an more awsome destrucution too! Miss those days!!!
The Flatout original was amazing back in the day. I couldn't believe that launching your driver would be allowed in a game and that it could be so addictive. I spent hours on the high jump trying to get out of the stadium and was truly amazed when I did. I wish a revamped combo of 1 and 2 would hit the modern consoles.
Oh my god i forgot doing this as a kid, we may not have had much back then but im so glad i grew up with this game
@@caingamin2
Did you do a 360 on the starting platform to make the replays look better ?🤣....been there👍
@ironbutterflyrusted no lol, i always loved watching the arena gamemode (i think they were called derbys or something) and just loved all the wreckage going on like it was a tv show lol
@@caingamin2
🤣🤣🤣just me then👍
Yeah excellent replays, somebody actually put some thought into it. Reminded me of the original "Dukes of Hazard" TV series, with the "General Lee".
Awesome video!
The physics, handling and damage modelling of the OG Flatout has a special place in my heart for me, and for sure making it my number 1. Put many hours in that game as a kid with my bro, and still love revisiting it every few years or so now. UC is no doubt is a solid game too. We don't talk about Flatout 3 & 4 lol
Great video I LOVED. Well love lol ultimate carnage flatout 4 is on sale at the moment for £2.24 lol so I may buy it. Have avoided it so far because of bad reviews but.
Honestly, I feel that 2 takes the cake here simply because of the soundtrack. It is stellar.
Been playing the collecters edition update for ultimate carnage. It's so good. Back when it came out, my PC couldn't run it! So i could only play it when at friends house or something.
i remember playing flatout 2 when i was like 4 to 5 years old in windows 7, it was my favorite game and still is to this day, no racing game can compare.
Showing all flatout games, playing UT99 soundtrack as background music for one of them. My man :)
Anyway my favorite is Flatout2 for its physics. Ultimate carnage is much more fancy indeed, but has much less sophisticated physics. Okay, in FO2 cars weight was unreal, but I really loved it. The big jumps, and how spectacular crashes were possible with that physics. I hope for a Flatout2 remaster some time in my life.
FlatOut UC can still go online and play, it just needs some prior set-up (and people you'll play with, as the servers are empty).
Same here, Ultimate Carnage is my favorite. Also, I 100% agree with your ranking of the FlatOut games, cuz ya know, I believe I think the same way as you bruh.
Playing Ultimate Carnage on the Steam Deck OLED is one of the greatest gaming experiences PERIOD
I bought the full pack on steam mainly to play 2 & UC but you can't play UC any more, anybody got a good fix? I've tried the ones I could find, unsuccessfully 😭😭
Flatout 2 OST are just legendary 👍😁
I only played 2 (as a kid, like 10 years ago) and UC (more recently), and I love both. Music wise, I prefer 2, but everything else is better in UC. Probably the best part are 4 new opponents, so there are always 4 more cars to destroy on the track! :D
I agree with everything in this video, and yes ultimate carnage is unparalleled. One other you should look at (produced by bugbear) is ridge racer unbound. It has its issues for sure, but it does play like a spiritualish continuation. Give it a try id like to hear what you think
the nightmare buzz music is very fitting
Beautiful Video.❤️🙌🏽👏
I am a HUGE fan of the Flat Out franchise and I have to say I think the PS2 version is the best of them all. The car physics have a bit more realism to them than other console versions. The cars look better on the tracks, too. The way they kick up dirt and and run on different surfaces seems a bit more realistic as well.
Have you ever played Test Drive: Eve of Destruction for xbox or ps2? If not, its in the same genre as Flatout but more focused on the demolition derby style races.
I haven’t even watched the video yet and I think I can already guess the order
5: FlatOut 3
4: FlatOut 4 (heh)
3: FlatOut
2: FlatOut 2
1: FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage
Edit: Booyah
Totally missed this serie until 2022. Flatout 2, Ultimate Carnage and Flatout is my rating.
what i used to like in the game npc drivers making fun by them owns, sometimes u driving last and seeing they do some crazy things and you smashing one of them in the wall
Ayo, finally someone who isn't idealising FO2 over FOUC. I spent countless of hours playing that game and beating my scores in destruction races in the 2nd mode. Also you didn't say in the video that compared to FO2 they have added 4 new A.I., a lot more destructible scenery, and a few cars
flatout 2 was the ONLY racing game i played growing up.. like literally age 5 to age 16 while i had a potato computer? the best game i ever played i d say still
Do any of the flatout games have local multiplayer with more than 2 players?
FO2 and UC are among my favorite childhood games.
I just wish FOUC retained the same driving than FO2, because it became too arcady, and the IA is a bit easier to get through too.
Also, the mass of IA cars is lighter than the Player car, which is a bit off sometimes how you can send them flying while when they hit you they almost stop their course.
But despite that, they are awesome games.
And FO1 deserves the play too, the style is a bit different and it’s kind of the predecessor of Wreckfest. Also the OST is quite nice.
Flatout 2 soundtrak might be one of the best soundtracks in the history of racing games.
Flatout 1 and Ultimate Carnage were my childhood
I started on Flatout Head On which was basically Flatout 2 ported to PSP & that was probably my most played game on the PSP. I didn't have a pc until 2018 & I still went ahead & bought UC off steam & still play it every now & then today. It's a great game. Sad it died bc of Flatout 3. That basically killed the franchise imo.
i love flatout 1 mainly bcs of nostlagia but also bcs of the Intro like
GODDAM bad boys really fits the game
The problem with U. C. is the force feedback, they broke it and replace it with a permanent vibration.
That´s why I keep playing FL2. FL2 is perfect with wheel.
For me number 1 will always be Flatout 2, it was fun, the cars were cool and the soundtrack was an absolute banger
i have fo2 and i still play during this days!! amazing game, thanx for the commento of the fo3\4, i think u have right about this !!!
I believe FO:UC had some decent tracks, but I felt many--about 1/2 to 2/3--were a bit too grungy, in the sense that they were not as memorable or catchy (unless into a little more heavy metal and/or scrapyard-styled themes), where sometimes the standard set by the quality of the song sometimes felt a little less or a little off than that of the game's theme. Flatout 2's soundtrack was the king, the fullest that really emphasized a collection of memorable tracks that alone, each peerlessly carried their own weight in creating and matching the Flat Out universe--furthermore how there was not a moment where I thought for any song that it felt like an "outlier" to the set or an extra song added in to make the cut. And with the soundtrack together, it really felt like the effort put into making the collection was real--you felt the dedication, the attention to detail in compiling the soundtrack, as there was seldom a moment in thinking that one doesn't fit and nearly always the moments where the tune becomes the race.
In summary, Ultimate Carnage (and even Flatout 1) had some banger tracks, but I believe in combination with the game's theme and representing what Flatout really is, Flatout 2's soundtrack made the cake in solidifying the action of racing, adrenaline, speed, and what is feels, in Flatout and racing, to cross that finish line victoriously.
Flatout Ultimate Carnage was the TRUE 3rd title, and the last truly great entry.
9:40 on third place (damage model)
i would place Burnout Parasice (not counting simulators with only purpose being these models)
Flatout2 UC segment with ut99 godown? I was thinking, fl2uc would go well with this song.
Even the PSP version is so impressive with a good framerate and same impressive destruction
Nice clip. UC has just been renovated by a third party group on steam.
I'm not a big fan of racing games, but Flatout 2 is a lot of fun with friends and at any lan party. never really played it by myself
I use to do a flatmobile challenge in uc on street 2 with max laps and me seeing if i can win and wreck everyone
flatout 2 was a part of my childhood, it wasnt perfect but it was great
Flatout is just one of the best racing games saga. Totally enjoyable and fun to race and destroy
Flatout 2 is my favorite racing game. I did not know about Ultimate Carnage. I will be buying it immediately!
I just buyed today after watching the vedio even I don't know this game exist
Nice, just got this on Steam for 4 bucks. And I got 2 for $2! These should be great on the Deck.
My first flatout game story, I convinced my grandma that Flatout CD is a moovie so she bought it for me, no regrets.
I am currently playing Flatout 4 and absolutely love it, I am having a blast, and yes I did play 2 a lot and loved that game to death. I can understand that if you don't like it much it's a matter of opinion, but what are you on about with the rubberbanding AI stuff?? Did you even play the game? That is simply not true AT ALL
Im surprised that you didn’t compare it to burnout series from craterion. Other than that I of course agree with everything else. Nice video of a hiden gem
i remember someone playing flatout 3 and it set it as playing audio the person has stored on the hard drive and it played the arabic nokia ring tone 💀
FOUC with FO2 music... Perfection for me 🙏👌
While I love. love. love flatout 2 despite not growing up with it. I did grow up with the original Stuntman on the ps2 which is widely considered the dark souls of racing games. And for the time (2002) the physics and damage model was like witch craft for the time.
We used to play these on lanparties at old days.
As a veteran Flatout player I'd say Flatout UC is the overall best. Flatout 2 can't really compete with that because most of the issues it had were fixed in UC. And also it's not really comparable as UC was build on FO2. However the soundtrack of FO2 still might be one of the best racing games soundtracks of all time till this day. Most of the people that would prefer FO2 over UC have mostly nostalgia reasons which is understandable.
You should check out Crashday someday, if you liked FlatOut, it's kinda like FlatOut on crack, to an extent, but at the same time a little bit more modest; really good physics, arguably better damage modelling than FlatOut, really entertaining gamemodes, alright story, even map builder, and some modding and, well, rocket launchers and machine guns, and even multiplayer that used to be alive
Ultimate Carnage rocks. Already have put 100 hours into it on Steam. Still doesn't get boring.
I actualy prefer flatout 2 over uc, but thats mainly caused by nostalgia :D
me too and for all music in game are best than uc
I like 2 more cus its so nice and sunny and the songs are happier
Dude, my TV settings make it look like 2s so called color environment. Yes. It's a thing.
Spot on review. 🤟
The Bonecracker will always be my favorite car
Flatout UC were my favorite car video game until Wreckfest came out, so many good memories.
Bro I've been searching fir this game for so long ,i played it as a kid annd forgotten his name
