Buy me a coffee, it would be really appreciated!

This is just a quick video to follow up. Basically a part two of my video I put up yesterday. The video was up for about two or three hours. I talked about my experience with customer service with some shops here in WA, basically Perth. And yeah, it was really interesting, the feedback I got regarding that video. There was an awful lot of, how would I put it, negative feedback, an awful lot of borderline, we know where you live. And so I took the video down. I didn't name anyone, not that I'm aware of, but I'm still not going to name anyone. I'm not that much of an idiot. But let's put it this way, I wasn't happy with the feedback that I got on it. And obviously touched the nerve with a lot of people,

Hi Bruce it can be that way in a lot of stores and I am like you, if I don't get some kind of acknowledgement from a staff member I will just up and off, Their loss. With the young kids, I think they have not had sufficient training with regard to customer treatment and product knowledge and it could even be the way they were brought up, so they are unaware of the issue.
You are right about employing and training people a difficult job while trying to make a dollar.
Keep your chin up ,looking forward to some more informative prospecting videos
    Cheers Pete

Hi Bruce I live on the road (full-time traveller) customer service was once the main thing looked upon as important, since the introduction of self service, supermarkets and super stores (Bunnings and alike) customer service has gone by the wayside, if I'm not in a hurry for something to arrive I order online everytime, also other comments about product knowledge, I 100% agree, if they don't know about what they sell they are in the wrong job!

Valid comments Bruce for sure. My first job in 1980 was McDonald's which may mean nothing now but what it taught me then about customer service and personal hygiene set me up for life 😂
    Keep up the great work.

Yep we are like you, research the product we want to purchase, read reviews, compare prices, know all the details about product ( what it does, how it works, etc) then go to the selected store to purchase. We’ve found it necessary to do all the research first as if you ask in store, like you said they know nothing, just stand there and read the back of the box, which is what you can do yourself only because you’re interested in the product you have more understanding than they do🤦🏻‍♀️
And yes they do make you feel like you’re privileged to be served😒
There are still a few good places though.

A lot of the problem is because of absentee owners who think a shop or restaurant can run itself. Having said that, there are a few iconic shops where (owner or employee) they seem to adopt an air of arrogance or entitlement, as if they're doing you a favour by serving you.

We definitely have one of those shops here in Perth. The owner thinks that they are part of the elite and the rest of us are just the great unwashed!

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with customer service Bruce. Western Australia generally has a bad reputation for that. We say that 'WA' stands for 'Wait A While' - not good! As someone who has worked in customer service roles, I can agree that most WA businesses need to improve, young and inexperienced staff members notwithstanding. Please accept my apology on behalf of most businesses for your bad experience. I trust that you have better service in the future.

Sad to hear you had that disappointing experience. I’m a bit older than you and it is said that the elderly are invisible in many aspects. I live in a large town in rural Victoria and and have to say that I rarely suffer your experience. Also our Bunnings has many mature staff, most with very good product knowledge and many with trade qualifications.

Agree 100%, it is the same here in SE Qld. I will travel 10 mins out of my way just to go to a store that I know provides good customer service. I may be getting old (62) but times have certainly changed. I don`t want to be negative to the younger generation but a lot of them do not have the best interpersonal skills, they dont know how to engage people. They live with there phones and maybe they dont need those skills there.

Well, here in Helena Montana USA I have generally had excellent customer service even though the help wanted signs indicate a labor shortage. I did get ripped off at a vehicle repair shop though. However, they were polite while they lied to me.

When I was last in the US, I was amazed at how good the customer service was! I remember going into a restaurant in Phoenix with a group of friends. There was about 15-20 of us and the waiter came up to help us. He was going around the table taking orders. I noticed he didn't write anything down. When the food came out, everyone got the correct food and he did the same thing for the drinks. This guy was amazing! Professional, friendly, and super helpful! Ultimate customer service.
      You are luck mate!

Yes sometimes you feel like the shop assistant is doing you a favour. I think it’s just because I’m a middle aged guy now with grey hair and I am of no interest to them. You are kind of invisible really. I spent most of my life in some kind of customer service role and would never dream of behaving like that. What can you do about it? Cheers. Paul.
