I know K'rrik is outstandingly good‚ but honestly this is probably the first time they've handled Phyrexian Mana correctly‚ and as a Mono-Black creature‚ he remains acceptable (if not ridiculous). The biggest problem that stemmed from Phyrexian Mana was making the color pie irrelevant. K'rrik does not do this‚ he exclusively breaks Black cards. All of these are fair points, but remember the playgroups this guy and other non-cEDH channels go to. They're not busting out the actual good stuff, so something like this seems utterly ridiculous to them.

@@lecmark3278 Mental Misstep gave a counter to decks that normally couldn't afford to splash blue for counters, and really, many decks ran it just to counter the opponent's own Misstep which is the real reason it was banned. Hey Jumbo, I don't normally comment but I had a question. Looking at the decklist, I am curious if you thought about adding a Crucible of Worlds to pair well with the Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and the Lake of the Dead. It's definitely one of my favorite mana combos, since it does not specify an *untapped* swamp. Tap swamp, sac it, bring back into play, tap it, boom 6 floating black. Such a nasty way to keep ahead of the mana game. Have you considered this card when putting this decklist together, or is there a chance it slipped your mind? If you did consider it before deciding to leave it out, could you explain why? Thanks, I can't wait to make a K'rrik deck now.
If you have a dark ritual and/or sol ring/cabal therapy in your opening hand you can drop Kirk turn 1. Pair that with a phyrexian obliterator, necropotence, or any other strong black spell you can just drop with Kirk and you pretty much have a turn one win.
Yeah, K'rrk is going right into my OG Chainer deck. Paired with Vilis and Font of Agonies every time I reanimate a creature I can just draw 9 cards and kill two things.
My point is that you could win the game (which is a better outcome) with less cards (which will happen more frequently) which makes your "combo" not that interesting at all.
@@toyaoren772 Well that is some extremely flawed logic. First of all, can you foresee every possible outcome of that "combo"? Because drawing 9 cards + reanimating a crucial creature can usually end the game in my Chainer deck. Besides, what's not interesting to you, may be interesting to others. Secondly, if you can't see the importance of playing cards that possess synergy with one another, then you need to work on your deck building/card evaluation. I'd be happy to point you in the right direction of some places you could learn. Finally, I certainly didn't claim this was a "game ending combo" (though again, that much card advantage usually does finish the game). Sure there are more efficient ways to end the game, but that wasn't the point of this comment. It was to mention the obvious synergies of the 4 cards I mentioned. So again, what's your point? Other than to trying to boost your ego as a "superior magic player".
Huh.....thats actually very flavorful. K'rrik being very op, both lore and gameplay wise, and he's going crazy within the time bubble, so he wants to kill everything as fast as possible. I like it, i like very much. I will put him in Yawgmoth, though, cus flavorful......and he's also good as the 99.
So I just started building it. One of my little combos is endless cockroaches, with a cost reducer such as jet medallion or bontu's monument, You can sac it over and over, with aetherflux out and pretty soon you will be positive on life gain from aetherflux, and you can kill with just the aetherflux.
Oh man what potential! I think you could include a minion theme, like Chainer or even Balthor for graveyard shenanigans, maybe praetor's grasp with Xiahou Dunn to bring it back and thrull parasite to extort.... nasty
K'rrik goes better as a combo piece i reckon. I have him in my Chainer, Dementia Master deck, can do some dirty things by sacrificing and recurring Kokusho, the Evening Star an infinite number of times since we don't need to pay mana for Chainer's ability anymore. Pay 9 life, recur Kokusho, drain each opponent for 5, sac Kokusho, repeat until everyone is dead. Same with Gary. Can sac other things repeatedly while you have a Dross Harvester or Blood Artist effects to net life too.
my buddy uses kalia and goes to attack with kalia and moltensteel dragon, kalia triggers and in response he pumps as much life into moltensteel then drops resolute archangel to go back to full life
Yawgmoth isn't K'rricks son. Formarly known as kerrik.. He is a phyrexian sleeper agent and was sent to infiltrate Yawgmoth lab to find out what's going on there.. Stuff happens and he ends up as this powerful castaway and takes the name as Son of Yawgmoth while also renaming himself k'rrick
He's Yawgmoth's son in title only. Just like Xantcha and essentially any other Phyrexian would be considered sons/daughters of Yawgmoth. It's metaphorical, not referring to actual progeny
Oh yeah and ring of xathrid also gives your creature the ability to regenerate as well so they'll help with keeping him from going back into the command Zone.
using k'rrik, you can go infinite and win the game by assembling a 4 card combo: 1. have chainer dementia master, k'rrik, and a sac outlet (like viscera seer) on the battlefield 2. put gray merchant of asphodel onto the battlefield from anywhere (from hand, reanimate with chainer, etc) 3. sac gary to an outlet 4. pay 9 life for chainer's ability (3 phyrexian black + 3 life) to reanimate gary 5. sac gary to an outlet 6. repeat steps 4 and 5 the best part is, you'll only need to pay for the mana costs of these permanents to enter the battlefield. from there, you just pay phyrexian black mana to win. you'll gain more life from draining you opponents than you lose to phyrexian mana costs. god, i love mono black.
I have been running a fun little jankie esper oloro deck where kirrik is like one of the mvps for a repay in kind kill deck on untap one of the free sites
First, I want to say thank you for giving me an idea of how to play K'rrik. Second, I wanted to ask about the inclusion of Blood Celebrant in the deck. Mostly, why? For the fringe cases of needing to pump mana into an X spell? Or if you don't have any swamps, but need black mana?
blood celebrant lets you pay life for colorless costs with k'rrik's ability, rather than just black. If you have blood celebrant out and play k'rrik on turn 4, you can play any/all cards in your hand
K'rrik can also grease the wheels in an explosive Jund list. K'rrik plus Thermopod, Grand Warlord Radha, and token generators like Rapacious One and Mycoloth can act as big fat mana generators to get online later in the game and can lead to REALLY big turns, if you're into that whole "assemble the machines" kind of victory condition. Frankly, pull K'rrik and go Naya with something like that and Atla Palani as commander.....
Also, K'rrik Morph. This may well be a thing. Spicy, I know, but that makes it ALL the better to jank people out with... And it's sort of on flavor, sleeper agents and morph creatures and such... Just a thought.
Maybe it's not as good as it looks, but I still kinda like the idea of a K'rrik Shade Tribal deck. I like building decks around weird tribes, and there are just about enough decent Shades to make this thing work.
8:13 Have any card with extort on field Your boi, k'rrik, son of daddy also on field 2 creatures that have one black mana in their mana cost (a creature where it only cost B to cast) like v seer or gravecrawler A way to keep bouncing them back to hand or bring them ba k from the grave? Keep returning them to hand and paying two life to put back on the field while extorting -2 + (-2 extort payment) + 3 - 4 + 3 - 1 Each playing losing 1 point per loop. Bring everyone crashing down low as possible then finish them off.
Thrashing Wumpus + Rush of Vitality: you can literally win the moment this combo goes off especially if there are 1/1s on the field, if not, zuran orb some tapped lands.
The easiest combo would be a bunch of tutors, grab Bolas's Citadel and Aetherflux Reservoir, proceed to cast a ton of cards from your deck while gaining life, and kill players with the Reservoir. This also has added benefit of pumping K'rrik with each cast so if you get low you can just attack and gain a bunch back. Also throw in combos with Zulaport, Gravecrawler, etc. This deck could be stupid good. In theory; Swamp, Mana Crypt, Dark Ritual, K'rrik turn 1. Land, Citadel turn 2, and go off.
I'm new and I don't understand? So basically I can cast the rest of the deck paying life just because my commander has that option in the cast section?
You'll still have to pay the generic mana costs, but you can replace the black mana costs with life. Cards and abilities that only have black mana in their costs are essentially mana-free.
10:40 not just that... If u can give to your indestructible so in conjunction with the and the pestilence demon or that kind of effect u can win the game on the spot....
I haven't gotten very far Through the video Call a very under looked card to go with this is the hypernox....idk If I spelt that right that rite... But when it comes out the other player remove their hands from the game until it is removed off the field which is a A big game changer
It may hinder more than it helps, depending on how you build the deck... you can't run many of the death loop cards like Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat effectively because of the -1/-1 effect.
k'rrik with Bolas' Citadel and Aetherflux Reservoir wins you thr game right? edit: Well almost, and I now see that these cards are already included in the deck
I have a shadowborn apostle deck, and the constraining factor for that deck is not Mana. I've won with three lands before. Phyrexian alter gives you practically as much Mana as you could ever need.
Not saying I disagree, but on the shade vs molten dragon comparison, there is a fundamental difference between a black creature and a red creature when it comes to the potential to pump for firebreathing- as well as a huge difference in mana cost (3 vs 6) Dreadshade isn’t that great, I was actually surprised to see it brought up, but it is miles better than molten
I think Moltensteel Dragon only finds room in Scion of the Ur-Dragon decks, where the owner activates Scion twice, bins Moltensteel, pumps up in response to the second activation and then bins Skithryx, Atarka or Dragon Tyrant to swing for lethal.
Chris smith because the strong use of life they both do, I would say both cards need a lot of life gain. I think the two can be fine in te same deck, because Bolas Citadel cast from your library, while K’rrik cast from your hand, so I personally think they can play well together, without being too similar😁

Good bey Sheoldred. Hello K'rrik.
Moltensteel Dragon is perfect for the new Greven!
This guy is going STRAIGHT into my Thraximundar zombie sacrifice deck. Dad's already there too.
You forgotten one of the best card in your deck : font of agonies
Huh, wonder where the opponent’s creatures went
So I just started building it. One of my little combos is endless cockroaches, with a cost reducer such as jet medallion or bontu's monument, You can sac it over and over, with aetherflux out and pretty soon you will be positive on life gain from aetherflux, and you can kill with just the aetherflux.
I'm so excited. My basic comp for this deck is drain storm.
I don't think he said he was. He called Yawgmoth dad. Did you transpose the names? I didn't know the lore behind K'rrik that's pretty interesting.
Captain K,rrik says: why build this deck......because I got too!!
using k'rrik, you can go infinite and win the game by assembling a 4 card combo:
1. have chainer dementia master, k'rrik, and a sac outlet (like viscera seer) on the battlefield
2. put gray merchant of asphodel onto the battlefield from anywhere (from hand, reanimate with chainer, etc)
3. sac gary to an outlet
4. pay 9 life for chainer's ability (3 phyrexian black + 3 life) to reanimate gary
5. sac gary to an outlet
6. repeat steps 4 and 5
the best part is, you'll only need to pay for the mana costs of these permanents to enter the battlefield. from there, you just pay phyrexian black mana to win. you'll gain more life from draining you opponents than you lose to phyrexian mana costs.
god, i love mono black.
Phyrexian oblitorator would be a cool add in
Already on it! Lol
Blood Celebrant, I pay 3 life to get a mana of any color so I don't need lands for generic mana in spell cost (plus it only cost one black to cast)
Senseis devining top+bolas citadel+aetherflux reservoir
With enough tutoring or good opening hands it can lead to consistent quick wins every time.
If u wanna go more grindy the enchanents that say when u gain/lose life ur opponents lose that much life are solid
Sanguine bond, and exquisite blood would be awesome for that
No Magus of the Mirror? What is this madness?
And soul conduit
I freaking love this commander!! I've made it my mission to try to build a deck with him that isn't OP! Wish me luck!!
Not OP? Go for a voltron build maybe
Nug Humper that could be a thing :)
If K'rrik said "Pay 2 life: Add 1 B" would vampiric link go infinite?
I have been running a fun little jankie esper oloro deck where kirrik is like one of the mvps for a repay in kind kill deck on untap one of the free sites
Just watch, its going to be impossible to find a Rakdos 2019 deck because of him
I just now pre-ordered mine for that reason
Same!!
@@timothyclifford7288 I'm annoyed I didn't get the notification for this earlier, but this is really cool. This explains a lot.
Swap all your Swamps for Wastes to show everyone you're a badass.
And then play Urborg to show them you're actually a troll.
Made a K'rrik demon deck that uses Shadowborne Apostles. Its my absolute favorite deck.
1 problem with the aetherflux, pay 50 life, draw 50 cards and deck out with villis on the field.
8:13
Have any card with extort on field
Your boi, k'rrik, son of daddy also on field
2 creatures that have one black mana in their mana cost (a creature where it only cost B to cast)
like v seer or gravecrawler
A way to keep bouncing them back to hand or bring them ba k from the grave?
Keep returning them to hand and paying two life to put back on the field while extorting
-2 + (-2 extort payment) + 3
- 4 + 3
- 1
Each playing losing 1 point per loop.
Bring everyone crashing down low as possible then finish them off.
Fun fact he indirectly caused the time bubbles which are some of the most important things in the history of the game
Thrashing Wumpus + Rush of Vitality: you can literally win the moment this combo goes off especially if there are 1/1s on the field, if not, zuran orb some tapped lands.
monoblack storm?
@@DarkEinherjar I see, thanks friend!
10:40 not just that...
If u can give to your indestructible so in conjunction with the and the pestilence demon or that kind of effect u can win the game on the spot....
Instead of 1 black u pay 2 life and because it hit multiple targets u get more life than u paied...
I haven't gotten very far Through the video Call a very under looked card to go with this is the hypernox....idk If I spelt that right that rite... But when it comes out the other player remove their hands from the game until it is removed off the field which is a A big game changer
What about Heartless Summoning?
It may hinder more than it helps, depending on how you build the deck... you can't run many of the death loop cards like Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat effectively because of the -1/-1 effect.
Pairs with bad moon. See also Blood funnel and token generators.
No hatred?
Would a voltron deck be good? Cheap creatures, cheap spells and great equipment/auras.
I pray to god K'rrik doesn't just get banned as a commander.
k'rrik with Bolas' Citadel and Aetherflux Reservoir wins you thr game right?
edit: Well almost, and I now see that these cards are already included in the deck
Just need that sensei's divining top the spin the top to win it all!
I have a shadowborn apostle deck, and the constraining factor for that deck is not Mana. I've won with three lands before. Phyrexian alter gives you practically as much Mana as you could ever need.
Shadowborne Apostles, Villis and Razaketh, Reservoir are all you need.
The rest can just be ramp and card draw and tech. I like Praetor's Grasp.
If you can make all the card draw black pips only that's a lot better.
Not saying I disagree, but on the shade vs molten dragon comparison, there is a fundamental difference between a black creature and a red creature when it comes to the potential to pump for firebreathing- as well as a huge difference in mana cost (3 vs 6)
Dreadshade isn’t that great, I was actually surprised to see it brought up, but it is miles better than molten
I think Moltensteel Dragon only finds room in Scion of the Ur-Dragon decks, where the owner activates Scion twice, bins Moltensteel, pumps up in response to the second activation and then bins Skithryx, Atarka or Dragon Tyrant to swing for lethal.
Bolas citadel? Or would that be redundant
You want citadel for the storm build of the deck, can't pay life for your artifacts with K'rrik
Chris smith because the strong use of life they both do, I would say both cards need a lot of life gain. I think the two can be fine in te same deck, because Bolas Citadel cast from your library, while K’rrik cast from your hand, so I personally think they can play well together, without being too similar😁
Redundancy is key in commander, my friend.
Can you do a grismold deck?? I think it’s the janky group hug/ murder combo that you’re great at.
Nantuko shade 2 black for a 2/2 or a 1/1 I forget it's normal power and toughness anyways pay 1 black mana give it +2/+2 until the end of turn.
Nope, it’s a 2/1 for BB and you can pay B to give it +1/+1. Normal shade stuff.
@@SomeGuy-cn5vm Wait it's only +1/+1? I could have sworn that it was +2/+2 am I thinking of a different shade?
Billy Idol Commander!
🎶In the midnight hour she cried Yawg, Yawgmoth
With a rebel yell she cried Yawg, Yawgmoth
In the midnight hour babe Yawg, Yawgmoth
With a rebel yell Yawg, Yawgmoth
Yawg, Yawgmoth 🎶
I once stole a game by putting Phage the untouchable in the graveyard with an Entomb in response to someone's Rise of the dark realms. Other than that, I love mono black, but I think the whole point of mana cost... Is for it to be paid with mana. Anyway, great deck, gives amazing insight :)
It you're already running bontus monument, ashnod's altar and oathsworn vampire with your commander to infinite
So, is this supposed to be cedh 2019? Why didn’t the Naya deck get a cedh commander?
How about a 8 life extra turn? Temporal extortion?
I'm making a doomsday K'rrik edh deck and I have 4 ways to get infinite mana 3 ways to get infinite life and 2 ways to infinite draw or something like that and I have 39 lands so yeah it's very competitive and over powered
That’s insane. Do you have the deck made?
@@zaine7715 yes but most of is proxy but I will make it real by replacing the proxies(fake version of the cards by using printed paper of the actual cards or pen/pencil and paper of the actual cards) with real cards
So I dont get cant u drain life someone and instantly kill them with with pay 38 life deal 38 damage and than gain it back????
Drain Life has received errata, so now the additional cost is X in Drain Life's mana cost. That X cost is generic and can't be replaced by life, even if you can only spend black mana on it.
I played my build deck around this guy Thursday. It really is broken!
You can add Phyrexian Arena + altar, make a storm/creature deck.
Why wasn't a Bolas's Citadel included?
It was?
An alternate method for infinite black mana. Mikaeus and Blood Vassal with Retribution of the ancients. Infinite black mana plus infinite death triggers.
Krrik is perfect in the 99 with Vilis as the general.
Dwayne Cowart K’rrik as the General and Vilis in the 99 is better though
I wanna see some gameplay of this🔥🔥🔥
Dj, i really be curious about this deck against the command zone guys
Hahahahahahahahahaha! There’s be so much soy in the room the cards would get damaged.
I can see Kathleen from Loading Ready Run building K'rrik...
I just noticed that limited resources is banned, and, I have to ask: why? We're constantly complaining about white being underpowered, and yet we snipe the only decent cards they have? Besides, white doesn't have much non-land ramp, so isn't it hurting itself too??? It just doesn't make sense to me.
And you can give that Commander the Ring of xathrid which makes him get more one one counters each turn.
