For years, my dream game announcement at any of the various E3 and SGF presentations was a new Dragon's Dogma. So I'm still amazed this game exists. I can't wait to dive in. Thanks for the great review, Suzi!
I liked it, but it felt disappointing to me. Not enough monsters to fight, not enough content and while i loved exploring, the rewards themselves weren't all that interesting.

@@Amanofan7777You can use an emulator on a PC and even on a phone I think. Or if you have an old PSP lying around, you can mod that to play PS1 games. PSXe for PC has resolution settings you can mess with so it looks better on newer TVs.
Ditto! Haven't played since the PS3 (never fully tried the Dark Arisen content) and frankly talk of the 2 made me want to give it another try! Lucky for my Switch, they had a sale a few days ago that dropped the game to 4.99 so I bought it, playing it! And I'm loving the game again! I guess starting with the vanilla version and being tired out by the time the Dark Arisen stuff came in and made corrections made me not want to try it again, but now decades older, wiser and a STRONGER system (as in faster loading with my Switch OLED) I'm just retrying and Vocations I dismissed like Mystic Knight and Ranger are growing on me, along with loving all the lines I missed that still repeat in my head ("They're Masterworks all, you can't go wrong!" for example LOL) I'm also wiser to the "cut off points" and have experienced OTHER combinations systems that I can better utilize my items and such and work with the pawns more! Loving every fight I come across. And crossing hands from other reviews of early copies that it gives me an experience similar yet DIFFERENT then Tears of the Kingdom! That Zelda is different then DD which is more Monster Hunter meets Dark Souls (not that MH isn't "DS" in it's own ways, just in atmosphere! I get DD: DA was STEEP in "Hey remember BERSERK" along with the ENTIRE Soulsbourne series of games! But I think that charm is WHY I liked Dragons' Dogma!) but I think the larger "Tears of the Kingdom/Breath of the Wild" LIKE world does good for Dragon's Dogma! (Just hope travel is less ANNOYING then it is in Dragon's Dogma! I swear I love exploring, but moving around normally is GOD awful annoying, even before you feel up the map! Should have had major points in DD1 have portal points and just let us use the Portal Crystal as a limited placeable teleporter! With how Tears of the Kingdom did this! Hope they took THAT into account along with LIMITING the amount of items needed for combinations and such so you're not WEIGHTING yourself down with trash and crap that ends up useless as you wonder "what the fuck this does!" (I do love DISCOVERY, but SOME hand holding can be nice as in "give me a manual or something" if you're not going to spoil!) But I have confidence in the team that they took lessons from other games AND past mistakes in Dragon's Dogma (that Dark Arisen was meant to remedy but still some flaws were still there even if they were MINOR instead of annoyingly big) to make a damn good experience (Especially what I loved about DD: DA is that EVERY choice is viable, like choosing to go it alone, go with a party of pawns, or just your own pawn and any combination of vocations or the vocations themselves are viable so you never feel you HAVE to reset the game to make a vocation good! You're choices effect if it's good from when you get in it or you have to work abit to make it good cause you made an OOPS early on) Plus hoping they EXPAND on the story established! We know multiverse will be involved with how the story of the first game was even if it's "a different world" per say! (Plus happy elves are here, felt weird making an ELF character in DD1 when no elf exist in that game and no indication other races sans the monsters existed! Now let Dwarves be a race in this and we can justify Dwarf character's! I'll be making my first character in DD2 the new Beastren race)
Other than some technical issues... The game still has some of the same issues as the first game did 12 years ago. Repetitive dialogue with your pawns, though not as much but still a lot. No swimming and no mounts. You can end up getting high affinity with a character that you would otherwise have no romantic interest in, but the game assumes you do, so you might even end up getting a kid like Trysha just because you helped her with the mage quest to get the master skills. Which is pretty messed up. There is not enough interactions with your pawns, any small talk you can have with them are just pieces of dialogue they usually say anyway while you're roaming around the map. You can get away with murder pretty easily by just picking people up and tossing them from a high height. You still can loot items, valuables, and even food and money from peoples homes, and it won't count as theft because the game still has no bounty system. In the case of Trysha i couldn't complete the mage master quest, she kept telling me she is studying, and the quest log told me to visit her in a few days, but it had been weeks. Basically the game doesn't tell you that her grandma needs to be alive in order for you to complete the quest, and Trysha herself doesn't react to her being dead. The list goes on and on. But you get the point it's ridiculous. For some reasons some things have become worse here. Other than the now reduced 4 weapon skills only, there is also the missing jump up while clinging to an enemy, which really helped scale them a bit faster, at the cost of more stamina. The Strider and Assassin class are gone, and they didn't bother for some reason putting in something as basic as a dodge roll mechanic. The double jump is gone too, and the closest thing to it is the Concussive Leap, but that is weapon skill so just to jump higher will cost you a weapon skill slot. In the first game sometimes you could sit in a camp and chat with your pawn and tell them to be more reticent, and/or more offensive or defensive etc. Because even though the now personality choices affects some of that, they all still don't know when to shut the f*** up. Anyone who has played this game for more than 50 hours will tell you. This is a fun game, great in many ways, but outdated in so many other ways. It should not be acceptable for a game to have so many problems that the first one had, and even make some things worse. This game is far from "Amazing". It's great, it's fun, graphically looks impressive. But Skyrim even without mods has better attention to detail than this. Example: A kid loses his parents? He is gonna become an orphan and the dialogue changes in Skyrim, he gets sent to an orphanage. In Dragons Dogma 2? No dialogue changes, nothing. And there are many examples like this throughout the game. It really takes you out of the experience and constantly reminds you that this is just a game. The game is still worth getting. But i'd say wait when it's 50% off.
Yoooo, Suzi's KILLING it with the outfit, as usual. Been looking forward to DD2 for a while now., my wife and I can't wait to dive into it. SUPER excited to test out the Duospears, they look sick.
As a DD1 fan I have alot of gripes with this game. It's way too short and way too small. In vernwurth it was fine things were going at a good pace. The moment you get to the second area the game just throws away previous characters and stories and just rushes you to the end. They showed off everything in trailers, the colossus is the second last boss and they showed everything about that boss. They left no secrets to discover. It just feels like the devs just wanted to be done with this project they just didn't want to develop it anymore they just wanted to be done
@@FelisImpurrator Because they showed Medusa, the Sphinx, the headless horseman and the colossus (2nd last boss of the game btw) thats not to mention they also showed all enemies, vocations and most skills leaving very little to see that we didn't already see in trailers.
I heard this game is one of those games people are having fun getting to actually explore. I personally can't wait to play this when i finish playing Resident Evil 2 remake. My first time playing and i am on the edge playing it on hard.
I really wish they would of made a coop mode where you can jump into other people's games and play as your pawn. Obv your hero character has to stay on there own world because they're the chosen one but being able to play coop with your friends as your pawn and level them up that was as an alternative would of been really cool!

And it's always really cool to see you collab with seasoned professionals in the games industry. It's a wild crossover event that I never expect each time. Much love
This may not be a big deal for some, but my biggest issue with this game is that it does not have an option to sell items to any vendor from your storage, you or your pawns must be carrying them in your inventory. I'm not sure but I think this applies to the upgrade materials as well if you want to Enhance your weapons/armor. This feature was in original DD and made inventory management very fun.
Yeah, it makes no sense having us lug back and forth between the inn and the vendor to sell all our stuff because we also have virtually no inventory space. A lot of mechanics in DD2 feel like 2 steps back in design when most of DD:DA was already perfect.
I’ve been looking forward to this review. Your RE 4 remake review last year was amazing as well, safe to say Capcom nailed it again with this one. Amazing review as always. 🥰
The outrage about the technical issues are right, and I think with patches it will be solved in the future. The microtransaction outrage instead is absolutely stupid for many reasons: - apart of the deluxe edition objects (which are made avaiable for those with the standard edition who may want them) EVERY other thing can be found playing (by exploring, slaying monsters, buying with ingame currency or forging at the right npc) and relatively easy nontheless. - the microtransaction are really trivial and don’t introduce any game-changing-payperwin mechanic like in other games (expecially multiplayer ones) There are people who weren’t even aware about them, cause if you don’t search for them specifically you’ll never know. - Capcom did the same with all their games in the past and no one batted an eye (cause no one wanted to pay for freakin orbs in dmc, everyone just played) - Capcom did not introduced mtx after the release but they were already there in the press kit given to the journalists I agree that microtransaction are the bane of the industry and sucks a lot, but there are A LOT of games where they are quasi-mandatory. At least here you can EASILY ignore them and freakin’ play without ANY consequence. God, the drama for the techincal issue is justified but this is exaggerated.
Hey Suzi, I just want you to know that most of us truly understand that your review has no correlation to the capcom microtransaction controversy. So please keep being positive and dont feel discourage about expressing your opinion on upcoming video games. I hope all the luck come to you.

Armor sets are hot AF *snort* 😅 (subscribed) Thank you for loving this awesome game. I'm having a blast playing it and was happy to come across a video that wasn't filled with negativity surrounding superficial stuff that doesn't even take anything away from an amazingly awesome experience.
capcom did the dirty hiding mtxs from reviewers and streamers. they even pulled the old "wait a few weeks then release P2W DLC" with remake 2 and 3. you can buy infinite ammo items and rewards reserved for s ranking the game... crapcom is back. dont forget theyve done this in the past and got shit on for it then. on disc dlc and what not. itll happen again.
they didn’t hide this at all, the micro transactions have been known about for a while, they were on the store pages for the games on steam and so on. I’m not a fan of their scummy business tactics like this, but at least all the micro transactions can be gotten in the game for free anyway.
hagte to say it but capcom has also been releasing bangers of games...I love monster hunter world, I love monster hunter rise..RE4 was great!! and so is this game!! ....

For years, my dream game announcement at any of the various E3 and SGF presentations was a new Dragon's Dogma. So I'm still amazed this game exists. I can't wait to dive in. Thanks for the great review, Suzi!
You find your spheres yet?
I liked it, but it felt disappointing to me. Not enough monsters to fight, not enough content and while i loved exploring, the rewards themselves weren't all that interesting.
This is the most delightful review I have ever seen! Great job!
OKAY FINE I'M GONNA TRY DRAGON'S DOGMA
your enthusiasm has thrown me over the edge and I'm finally ready to give this big scary thing a try.
Thanks, Suzi.

Great review! I am in love with this game (third playthrough). Don't let haters discourage you from continuing to make awesome content.
I can't wait to play this in four years when my video game backlog clears up.
I feel so very grateful that you exist, and that you offer your sound on what you love in an extremely enchanting way. Watching this video I feel you are clearly in your ‘Ikigai’ as the Japanese say. I am very excited to play this sequel and intrigued to see more of your videos.
The Parasite Eve OST has got me feeling some kind of way
Same. I need to figure out how to replay it.

@@Amanofan7777You can use an emulator on a PC and even on a phone I think.
Or if you have an old PSP lying around, you can mod that to play PS1 games. PSXe for PC has resolution settings you can mess with so it looks better on newer TVs.
I was on the fence on this.. but you have now hooked me
Hope they took THAT into account along with LIMITING the amount of items needed for combinations and such so you're not WEIGHTING yourself down with trash and crap that ends up useless as you wonder "what the fuck this does!" (I do love DISCOVERY, but SOME hand holding can be nice as in "give me a manual or something" if you're not going to spoil!)
But I have confidence in the team that they took lessons from other games AND past mistakes in Dragon's Dogma (that Dark Arisen was meant to remedy but still some flaws were still there even if they were MINOR instead of annoyingly big) to make a damn good experience (Especially what I loved about DD: DA is that EVERY choice is viable, like choosing to go it alone, go with a party of pawns, or just your own pawn and any combination of vocations or the vocations themselves are viable so you never feel you HAVE to reset the game to make a vocation good!

Example:
A kid loses his parents? He is gonna become an orphan and the dialogue changes in Skyrim, he gets sent to an orphanage. In Dragons Dogma 2? No dialogue changes, nothing.
And there are many examples like this throughout the game. It really takes you out of the experience and constantly reminds you that this is just a game.
The game is still worth getting. But i'd say wait when it's 50% off.
This looks like a 90's home video and I love it.
Unfortunately you were right. They are selling Rift Crystals as microtransactions 😢
Just don't buy it , they are not forcing you to
@@injest3r574 I didn't. The first one was too annoying

@@AlphaOblivion7but my question would be how scarce are they in each world we play?

Saying "you don't have to buy it" is a poor excuse.
I just finished the first game yesterday and now i get your video on the series, nice timing
Yoooo, Suzi's KILLING it with the outfit, as usual.
Been looking forward to DD2 for a while now., my wife and I can't wait to dive into it. SUPER excited to test out the Duospears, they look sick.
that's all you care about. very typical behaviour from simps.
12 years later, it truly feels good to once again hear "wolves hunt in packs, Arisen"
Brother, I think you missed the entire endgame.
@@FelisImpurrator The unmoored world right?
@@dantemiles689 Well yeah, if you know what that is, how can you say there are no secrets after?
@@FelisImpurrator Because they showed Medusa, the Sphinx, the headless horseman and the colossus (2nd last boss of the game btw) thats not to mention they also showed all enemies, vocations and most skills leaving very little to see that we didn't already see in trailers.
Looks good. Thanks for the coverage!
I'm looking respectfully.
I have never visited your channel before, but you just earned a subscriber in the 1st 4 seconds with that quality Pawn voice acting.
"Wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the future capcom sells this in-game currency" Welp guess you aren't surprised...
I've waited 12 years for this, and I get a Suzie video on top of it, so blessed 😭

it's so freaking expensive, though. About $110 CAD for the STANDARD version. Looking forward to picking it up a year or so from now!
isn't that $70 usd, like every other new release?
@@SushiRoll137 $70 usd is $94 cad. After tax the game is $110. I'm not sure that I would accept any arguments that that is a reasonable price.

This video was great. I started DD1 last week and i've been having fun with it so i can't wait to get my hands on this
Kainé’s sword in the background has me absolutely frothing at the mouth wondering why I don’t have one

The microtransaction outrage instead is absolutely stupid for many reasons:
- apart of the deluxe edition objects (which are made avaiable for those with the standard edition who may want them) EVERY other thing can be found playing (by exploring, slaying monsters, buying with ingame currency or forging at the right npc) and relatively easy nontheless.
- the microtransaction are really trivial and don’t introduce any game-changing-payperwin mechanic like in other games (expecially multiplayer ones)
There are people who weren’t even aware about them, cause if you don’t search for them specifically you’ll never know.
- Capcom did the same with all their games in the past and no one batted an eye (cause no one wanted to pay for freakin orbs in dmc, everyone just played)
- Capcom did not introduced mtx after the release but they were already there in the press kit given to the journalists
I agree that microtransaction are the bane of the industry and sucks a lot, but there are A LOT of games where they are quasi-mandatory.
At least here you can EASILY ignore them and freakin’ play without ANY consequence.
God, the drama for the techincal issue is justified but this is exaggerated.
Honey wake up! DRAGON'S DOGMA 2 is a Masterworks all you can't go wrong!

13:58 Ik it’s more of an issue with the game if this occurs, but constant frame drops on a 4090 is absolutely wild imo
capcom did the dirty hiding mtxs from reviewers and streamers. they even pulled the old "wait a few weeks then release P2W DLC" with remake 2 and 3. you can buy infinite ammo items and rewards reserved for s ranking the game... crapcom is back. dont forget theyve done this in the past and got shit on for it then. on disc dlc and what not. itll happen again.
they didn’t hide this at all, the micro transactions have been known about for a while, they were on the store pages for the games on steam and so on. I’m not a fan of their scummy business tactics like this, but at least all the micro transactions can be gotten in the game for free anyway.
