Ahoy Knight! Maybe do you know anything about mod support?
@@DamageiNcDCUO are you stupid?
@@draw2death421Don't buy them, problem solved.
@@DamageiNcDCUO Imagine getting upset about reviews. 'You don't just buy things without any input or knowledge about the product!? I buy everything sight unseen and ignore all user reviews! I don't understand why I only get shit that doesn't work!'
You can actually turn the pawn comments off, it even works for the first game and doesnt include mods, its an opption called "throw them off a cliff"
💀
I was about to bring that up. That's what I did in the first one but that depends on how the difficulty of this game is. I do want to see the smokey class in action as a way to buff me at least. Maybe I'll alternate on cliffing them.
... That being said, there's an actual setting in DD1's menu to turn pawn chatter off. lol
@@GeeGe. I don't remember which it is, but pretty sure that option only affects EITHER your pawn or hired pawns. Again, don't remember which
@@andrewbowser1506 Oh, really? That's weird. I never used it because I don't mind when the pawns repeat themselves in the first game. I saw it as their "catch phrases" lol. Since they're also not exactly 100% human as you are, it made some narrative sense to me for them to be limited in their comments. I hope it gets better in DD 2 though (according to the devs, it's something they put specific effort into).
5:45 "goblins, wolves and harpies" - no bandits? I remember those being about as common in the first game.
from other videos, i have seen bandit camps but they dont seem to be as common because they stick to their campsites
There are bandits
Judging by other reviews, bandits are really rare compared to DD1. Huge turn-off for me, I love fighting human enemies.
@@00TOYZ There are less bandits
@@user-kw6vh2ls3fhuman enemies are naturally more rewarding. I mean, it's not like people can just wear whatever a goblin had on when the thing is like 2 feet tall
Awww I loved the incessant chatter of the pawns in the first game, they were like excited children that were just so happy to be out on an adventure!
12 years later I’m pretty fucking tired of it, and it should have been an option
I loved it too
Pawns’re awesome.
Goblins ill like fire
@@theoriginalfluff5317the original game had an option to make them talk less or not at all. I want an option to make them do it more in Dragons Dogma 2. I want to hear WOLVES HUNT IN PACKS!
If Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima and Spiderman 2, which look more impressive, can hit 60 fps on console why can't DD2?
Because it's poorly optimised slop that was rushed out the door, expected better from Capcom. 25-45fps on a PS5 in 2024 is an embarassment, graphics are like a 2018 PS4 game as well
The cape keeps clipping through the shield
What a lot of people forget is that yes, during the day there are the usual boring enemies like goblins, wolves and harpies but at NIGHT the enemy types changes to zombies, skeletons and phantoms. Yes, they are the grunt types and not too challenging but many reviewers don’t mention the enemy changes at night time which gives the game a different feel and atmosphere.

What’s going on nowadays is that todays games are being played like back in PS3 and 360 era, when games drop below 30 frames because of the intense particle effects, but most definitely with the PS3.
The PS3 was powerful, but the focus wasn’t on faster frame rates or even better graphics, but how massive the game can be made. And PS3 is famous and infamous for massive open world games that play wonderfully gameplay wise, but tank hard in frame rates.
excited to see if you'll make a follow up review
The pc port is not okay, you got a ps5 code for a reason
1:00 Hell yes to the first game's character creation music. I put it on when I made the character in the demo.
The more I learn about this game the more I'm interested in trying it. I'm intrigued by the Morrowind-esque lack of quest markers for example so it feels like it will play somewhat differently compared to other RPGs. Sounds interesting to me.
The first game still had quest markers on your map and compass, so it's not like Morrowind where you have to actually read what's written in your quest log to get to where you need to be going. The quest markers are just not hovering over the relevant objects/NPCs in the game world itself.
Just make sure you get your character right from start, or you gotta spend some money ingame to change it... or pay via microtransaction...
@@headwindshieldoh that sucks... Wish they made more games where you actually have to read what the NPCs say or worst case check if the journal hints at it
I have now tried the game and it's running to bad on PC that I had to refund it lmao
@@Swedishmafia101MemeCorporation get a better PC 💀 no issue with my 5800X3D. Consider getting it in the future if they improve performance or you get a better pc, it's one of the best RPGs without a doubt
Always great to see a new vid by you, NK! I'm unsure about DD2 for myself, but as I was watching your video it suddenly occurred to me: How did you miss the Baldur's Gate 3 train??
I know this review is weeks old, but for the 'Prey for the Pack' quest you mentioned broke, did you take Rodge back to Morris? I didn't see the yellow NPC marker on your map so it doesn't look like the boy was with you, but you have to make sure he follows you all the way from the cave back to Morris to complete the quest. (Yeah, the wording 'inform Morris of Rodge's wellbeing' is misleading). I had the same problem with this quest and had to make 2 trips back to the cave for the boy, really annoying, lol.
I had the exact same problem for both those NPCs. I guess the game struggles with having NPCs keep up with the player (I guess the kid got stuck on something on my way back to town and I didn't notice) no idea where the other guy went until after I failed his quest
I'm very thankful for your channel, you are one of the only reviewers I truely trust their opinion and rating for a game
Love your review! Can't wait to play the game when it comes out!
I encountered that too but found out right away that you have to enter the NPC's shop to complete it, like the Pawn that was leading you that quest showed you when we arrived.
"Masterworks all, you cant go wrong"
Currently playing on PC with a PS5 controller because I heard about the console issues (about 25h in). There it runs quite smoothly at 60 FPS even in the big city. But I am not running at at the highest settings (running it on high). However I also heard of performance issues on PC. That is runs so poorly on consoles is a disgrace.
Also thanks for the tip with the harpies. I was wondering how to reach those chests :D.
Also an interesting choice not to mention the microtransaction that are masked as DLC. Currently I am not experiencing places where I am incentivised to buy. I am in no need of more rift crystals (you don't need them for summoning pawns at your level) and quick travel is very very cheap. So currently I cannot see game design decisions that were just made with the DLCs in mind which was a pleasant surprise. Maybe you felt the same so it wasn't worth mentioning.
As always. Great video.
The main story didn’t grip me at all, and a lot of quests are just fetch quests
Dude I HAVE to thank you for recommending Thronebreaker, god that was such a great experience.
Thanks for your honest and insightful review. I totally appreciate and agree with your praise and your criticisms and I for one will be buying my copy on release day. Cheers!
@8:03 I think this voice actress was in Witcher 3 also.
And hogwarts legacy.
Looks like one of those games I'll have to play because the footage and reviews aren't selling me. Unrelated but I never gave Advance Wars a shot because I thought the same and recently got into it and it's amazing. So I think i'll have to give Dragons Dogma a shot at some point
Anyway not sure I've commented before but I enjoy all your videos - nice job as usual :)
man, weird/random to see you here but it just tells me that this channel is quality, so subbed hahaha
The first game is like $5 right now so might be worth giving a try to see if you like the style of game.
Yeah, I'd try the first game if you've never played it. It is pretty cheap right now.
Ok so, repeatedly heard you say, "...goblins, wolves, and harpies is all you'll see for the first several hours."
I'm not disagreeing with you, if you stay on the main roads, but if you explore, what the game devs intended, that will not be the case.
In my 3rd hour I went into a cave and fought multiple types of enemies, including a chimera.
That's why dd2 is such a great game, everything is up to you as a player.
I almost got out of the video in trying to know the least before playing but the realize it was my favorite man neon and ha d yo watch it can wait for you to make more content man keep it up love the vids😊
I had the same issue happen with Prey for the Pack side quest. I actually had to go back to the wolves’ cave and pick up the boy and escort him back to the NPC who gave me the quest to complete it. Took me a little while to figure that out.
You played the music of the best Game ever in the background - I love it
The background music is from tw3 ?
They should add a feature from Pathfinder Kingmaker, you can set it to how often your companions banter.
I was on the fence before but definitely going on my wishlist now. Keep up the good work! You have the best and most interesting commentary on games like this.
I can tell you love the witcher 3 so much that you decide to have Toussaint background music for your other game clip.
quick question what was the frame rate like? because i herd that its around 20-30 fps on consoles was it smooth for you or was it not good.
You could have just skipped to his performance review, but unfortunately it was not stable/smooth for him.
This is the first and last review for this game ill watch until i had my full playing it. Thank you very much, i knew i can count on you
FYI You can turn Pawn voices off. The text will still pop up so you can look for new info. Honestly, I'd have preferred a frequency slider, but this is an option.
'we hope our players weren't eating too much yellow paint as a child' NAHHH i lost it right there hahahaha
I can't wait. I'm so happy this is reviewing well.
there's only one thing i want to know.
is there a storage system to save all our fashion dogma?
yeah, you can dump whatever you want at inns
The clipping on the shield and robe is awful. Really. Its details like that ... just slaps immersion across the face.
Fingers crossed they fix the performance issues with a patch.
So excited for this big fan of one. You also said more will come later but the creator actually said there is no secret vocations and there is no plans to add anymore, what we have is what we are going to get. Also on performance, i heard its bad on all platforms. Capcom knows and is working on it so hopefully a fix very soon. But yeah no excuse for performance issues especially below 30 and 30 max on console why. Or at least i heard its 30 max on console but even pc i heard is struggling and pc you would think would be best because of what hardware people run but no.
How is the haptic feedback on controller?
lmao, the rant about the pawns being annoying is oddly comforting for some reason. it's one of the things that drove everyone crazy about the first game, and it's almost endearing that it's also a problem here. we're coming home.
I had forgotten how hurt I am to read “locked at 30fps”.
Hopefully it's not locked on PC
@@ElektrokardiogrammIt's not but the performance does not look very promising. Just watched YongYea's review and he drops below 30fps in cities on occasion with a 4090.. o.O
Edit: I guess I should also mention that I have no idea what CPU his rig has. Just have to wait for release to see some real numbers from other players.
@@TwistedHolidayBut at what resolution? Mentioning framerate without resolution is nigh useless. If he is dropping below 30 fps with a 4090, that is bad, but much less bad if it's happening at 4k rather than 1440p.
@@ElektrokardiogrammIt looked like he was using an Ultrawide monitor. He even had a sponsored segment of the display he was using. An LG UltraGear monitor, so should've been at 3440x1440p. He said that it didn't help with DLSS and/or turning Ray Tracing off.
@@Elektrokardiogramm
His comments about framerate are all about the PS5 at 4K
He did say that as soon as he can, he will swap to PC as he hopes that he will have more control.
I'm hoping they will patch fixes for framerate soon after release if not day 1. I'm not that bothered about 30fps but it does need to be stable.
Really appreciate the time that went into this. I was planning on buying on release day for ps5 but with plans to play as a mage and seeing such shoddy frame rate i think i might hold off a while
Thanks for the review. It sounds like a game that I might enjoy but I'm definitely going to hold off until the performance is improved on the ps5
Ik this aint part of the video but can someone tell me what the ring of assurance does? Btw good vid, I'm super eager to play on the 22

Great review, thanks
glad to hear that its very much like the old one. can't wait to dig into it.
I hid my weed on the hospital grounds near my wirk place. On the way home , I'll grab it & smoke right there. I hid it under a broken branch.
I never liked Pawns. Like in theory i find the whole system cool - they learn stuff and then help others, but in actuall combat it feels like you playing singleplayer game were you playing 1/4 of the game, where pawns will fight for you, give you advice you'd rather learn yourself, it's like playing with random players a game i actually just want to play myself. It's not a turn-based party RPG where i controll every character, it just NPCs playing the game for me..
I played the first one on Hard up untill second round of DLC, where it's just becomes insane. But that's DD1 with broken item healing, i heard DD2's item healing is limited wich is good. In terms of solo-play the new universal class also sounds very fun, if you're alone it's more fun to have wide range of options.
For some reason, your review of the game is the best I came across online 👍🏻
The best one I've seen is "dragon's dogma 2 is a sadistic nightmare" it's a 20 min long vid of the guy complaining and giving it a 9/10 😂
Arisen: Ok remember to keep an eye out for anything of value.
The Pawns: Master I have found a rock!
In all seriousness though, I guess it's good to know somethings about the Pawns haven't changed. I just wish it was a little more for the better, not that this kills my excitement for the game.
The pawns talk to each other now! Which is really often very cute. My pawn is a “sensible old man” type and I hired one that was like a golden retriever, just always excited and running ahead and picking up shiny things. I swear the 2 of them interacted so much and ended up having a “father-son” dynamic lol
@@wren1028 Yeah, that was one of the things that excited me about this game, while yes what they had to say in Dark Arisen was helpful it was also very repetitive. I've cycled through a bunch of Pawns and so far I'm very impressed, I just reached Lvl 21 and almost maxed out my first Vocation and I haven't felt the urge to find the option that will shut them up yet, I'm hoping it stays that way.
In Dragon's Dogma 1 I literally found Gandalf as a rental. Worth every penny.
Thanks for the performance warning. GamerRanks said that performance only really chugged in the city centers, and that open world was fine. I assumed that meant combat as well, but I guess not. PC it is then.

I really hope for an implementation of a performance mode on ps5 in a future patch, fingers crossed... The game looks really promising otherwise, good to hear your enthusiasm :)
I CANNOT believe it's forced 4k. I cant enjoy the graphics when you put insane motion blur and unstable sub 30 fps. If you dont have VRR and BFI maybe even, it's terrible.
@@DTPandemoniumthis is the only time I can understand people complaining about 30fps and motion blur when it causes motion sickness. That sucks.
However when people are calling it unplayable because of 25 to 35 fps I think that is ridiculous, its very much playable. It isn't a heavy reaction based game, I mean if bloodborne is brilliant at 30 this game can be as well
Game is unplayable on ps5. Idk about 4K cuz I’m not booshie like that but on a regular 120hz gaming monitor, this game has so much motion blur and it’s really noticeable on gaming monitors. Makes the game unplayable imo. You can’t see what you’re doing in combat.
I also waited. But now I don’t care.
Great Review, Ive decided to give the first game a go before picking this up, hopefully performance will be Ironed out on PC and they'll sort out the microtransaction mess.
From what I’ve heard, I’m going to wait a bit before buying it
People criticizing Elden ring for a lack of enemy variety are crazy that game had probably the most enemy variety in a while, I was hoping DD2 will have different types of enemies than 1 but so far I’ve seen the same stuff, hopefully the bring more on future updates or a dlc
they dont criticize the enemy variety, they're criticizing the repeat minibosses in every single cave which is a viable complaint
well those "mini bosses' shouldnt have been the same 5 enemy's over and over quite simply really @@Wallyka1007
Are pc players able to bind movement to the arrow keys?
No they only have a set amt of keys you can bind anything to
Hope it works well on pc when it releases. I am likely to wait a bit after that still just because I do have one game of DD:DA currently going on and I want to jump into the second one having a good grip at which game I prefer after I'm finished with both.
According to reviews it's not looking so good performance wise
Unless you have to jump in right away, I would say wait till that patch for pc comes out, because it's pretty insane you need a 4090 to even run it decently.
@@torchlight1785 yeah thats my strategy nowadays, wait and grab it on sale with some dlc.
How does the music hold up against TW2 considering you're using Vergen by Night?
there are very (very) few games that measure up to the Witcher 2 soundtrack, let's be real
Great job here 👍 thank you.
Im not even halfway through the game and i have like 40+ hours invested, might be my new favorite game
They took out way to many of the mage and sorcerers skills, while adding nothing. Vocations are horribly underwhelming, the armor choice was ultimately reduced. Then there's the matter of monster variety and locations. It all just comes together to be the most lackluster sequel you could make after a decade of fans waiting.
They added plenty and specialized classes to feel more unique, most skills that were “taken out” were either given to other vocations or made into core skills. You’re also wrong, Mages are actually useful the whole game now and sorcerer also got plenty of additions like Galvanize. Could people be less disingenuous with proper criticism?
@@HHTwice Really, perhaps you should look up the definition for disingenuous. Your blatant dismissal of facts to validate your own perspective is far more deserving of the word. I'll spare you the effort and strain of using your low brow wit and responding by arguing semantics, and other vapid accusations. The reality is, you lack the capacity for critical thinking and are upset someone has a differing opinion so you regurgitate whatever phrases you've read off of forums that align with your point of view. Ive never heard anyone complain about enemy variety in elden ring. Maybe bosses but not regular enemies
The problem with elden ring is thats it so big that they have to reuse enemies and then it feels repetitive by 2/3 the way through
What, huh? Who says this?
What about skeletons, zombies and phantoms? Those were pretty common at night in the first game, are you saying those don't show up at all in the early game?
They do first town at night there be 5 skeletons spawn in
Does this game have a plot or any kind of choices? So far all reviews focus mostly on fights and exploration, and the whole rpg thing is inventory and levelling. I'm hyped for the game but looking at reviews, it's jrpg combat simulator.
It has choices, but that element of the game is fairly minimal I'd say. There's definitely a plot, yeah. The game isn't as story focused as I'd have liked, but I was a fan of what was there.
The entire pawn system is incredible the specialty aspect is also great
I was on the fence about getting this game for day one but I want to grab it so bad. I'm off work tomorrow too

Jim the Knight is hyped.
Me personally, I’m getting rid of all my pawns beside maybe one healer/mage. I want to focus on more of the combat, can’t do that when my pawns jump and almost Instantly kill all the enemies lol
Anybody know if we have the option for both inverted X and Y axes on console?
Feel like the no guide part of the game will get people annoyed and they’ll just be like “ugh this game doesn’t help us do anything or tell us what to do” - guy who complained about yellow hints. That being said it comes out tmwr at 5PM and I already have my wine to play the game with
Is it true you can only have ONE save file? So if you start a new game, you lose your previous character?😅
Yes
Not entirely. From what I have heard you can't start a new game. There is no "new game" button after you started your run. You have to disconnect from the cloud and delete you save files manually.
I personally don't have a problem with it but can understand that thats pretty bad for a game in 2024.
The map in the first game wasn’t very big but it was sooo empty and it always felt like such a long trek to go from one end to the other and then back.
I fucking loved the first game and am hella excited to play this one! Nice vid Neon
My PC runs ready or not at a strong 2fps sometimes. I've been waiting years for this game. I'd play it on PowerPoint
When you reach the Volcano Island and alternate ending and you realize all the gear and loot you find follows the same early game, mid game, late game, post game quality than it makes almost all exploration in the early, mid, and late game completely a waste of time. All the good stuff is at the end. Rush to get it/unlock it. I don’t appreciate that kind of world design and loot system, and this is a huge problem for me. When 80% of what you will find is ingredients for consumables- you have a very very empty open world game that actually isn’t worth exploring in.
@neonknight problem already been answered but the quest about saving the boy from wolves is finicky for me too. But when i carried the boy inside the quest triggered properly.
Been loving this game. Spend a half hour fighting a higher lvl minotaur with my pawn, some random pawn who happened to be in the area and a guy I was escorting with just a sliver of health. Was too stubborn to run away or come back with full health. 😂
Pretty sure there will be performance patches released in the next few months. I'm not going to get it until it runs well (or better) on PS5
Finally a youtuber who acknowledges the horrible frame rate issue for ps5, people seem to be disregarding as if its not a big problem.
Dragon's Dogma 2 Is Being Review Bombed because its have a lot of dlc can't delete your character you have to play to edit plus the game runs terrible on PC
Not even mentionig that implementing Denuvo might be atleast partially responsible for the bad performance, there not being an option to start a new save or have multiple savefiles at all, aswell as the predatory mtx in what is basically a Singleplayergame just seems very dishonest. I was pretty hyped for the game and then refunded instantly
@@MrTealordang, bro. You’re missing out. There is a new game option now…and there was never multiple save files in the original…so I’m not sure why people would assume it wouldn’t do that again. And all the micro transaction items are things you can get in game. I don’t see anything wrong with giving people the option to pay for stuff if they want to…it’s single player so it’s not like it’s hurting anyone else…
The game doesn't run as bad as people say, I run a solid 100+ fps everywhere but a very select few areas, sure it's not perfect performance but it does not detract whatsoever from gameplay. I wish you would've talked a little bit about the roleplay experience in this game. For example are there any romances, is there any way to own a place to call home or are there roleplay mechanics like eating , drinking stuff like that ? I wanted to know exactly how immersive this game is, because i've seen some comments on the web comparing this game with skyrim, so that's why I have these kind of questions.

There are player homes, the first game had a romance system but it wasn't advertised to the player. I'm assuming this game has the same system
