    It is my absolute pleasure to announce my newest origami instructional video. It features a Sakura Star designed by Ali Bahmani from Iran. I love how you can easily shape the base of the model to receive many beautiful results. Enjoy!

    You are such a great teacher, Sara. I am always amazed at the direction you give and how easy it is to fold even a difficult model. I have folded about 4 or these now but I am still having trouble getting my petal folds to look good! A lot of models with petal folds manage to defeat me. Not that I don't know how to do them but to get them to look even and smooth. I think with this model the extra flap on the back of the petal fold makes it difficult to get a smooth petal that lies flat. I will keep at it as the remainder is very simple and I like the versatility of the model. I have folded the star version but with the cherry blossom center and that seems to disguise my poor petal folds, LOL! Thank you for sharing.

      I'm glad my video helped you out. As to the petal folds - yes, they are definitely more difficult to get neat in this model. This is especially true if your pentagon isn't quite perfect, which it almost never is for me. Just so you know, it's challenging for me to get these as neat as I'd like, too.

    Perfect! Just in time for me to share it with my Origami USA Special Session students as an extra credit model. Meaning, I'll share the video and my students will try folding on their own at home.

    Exceptional teacher. I always enjoy folding, or sometimes just attempting to fold, any model you have presented. The combination of your correct speed and the use of clear reference points makes it much easier to follow. I know some people don't need reference points but I do and it just sticks better in my brain, LOL!

    • @Happyfolding
      @Happyfolding  4 роки тому

      I'm glad you like my presentation style! I try to give exact references, because I prefer having them, too. I want to allow people to get a very similar result to the one I show in the video. People can then still vary some folds, if they prefer.

    Lovely! I loved the explanations for variations and also the quick repeats for the remaining petals/points giving a "revision" without it being tedious :) . I've been looking forward to this model so thanks very much, Sara from a long-time fan.

    Sara Adams, thanks for your clear instruction and Ali Bahmani for the beautiful design. Just a suggestion. For the star remains that's folded inside in the design of the sakura (because it's needed). There's a pocket with five openings on each sides of the pentagon on the white side. Why not inserting them there? I've done it and it really helps :)

    Very nice origami. Your explanations are very clear. In spite of my effort and my attention, I didn't succeeded to fold a neat and tidy star Thank you very much for your lesson. Kind regards xxx

    In case you care: Both commonly used approximations of the 72° angle for a pentagon give you an angle of 71.565° (arctan(3), [3/4 : 1/4]), but if you start from the center of the paper you waste some paper, because the largest possible pentagon you can get from a square doesn't share it's center.

    Great tutorial! Herzlichen Glückwunsch zu 50k Abonnenten ;) Deine Videos haben mir vor allem als ich selbst noch sehr wenig von Origami wusste immer sehr viel Freude bereitet. Aber auch jetzt sind immer mal wieder Videos bei, die ich begeistert ansehe ;) Mach weiter so! Ich hab heute eine Version des Sterns beim Norddeutschen Stammtisch in Bremen erklärt. Dort waren auch alle begeistert. Happy folding ;)
