Thank you for the demonstration, I am using this model to make a star for the top of my miniature Christmas tree. My youngest brother passed away last year from DIPG, and he was 11. We would sometimes fold origami together and he was very talented. I miss him a lot and wish he could still be here today to fold this one with me. But I know he is better off where he is now.
Such beautiful instructions on such a beautiful model!! Thank you, Sara. You are the one that first got me interested in folding and now I have about a hundred of my own models that I am very proud of.
Yes, I'm happy, too! I meant to make a short vlog, too, to update you guys, but in the end I didn't have enough time, even though Felix could have been in the video. Well, at least video instructions worked out. :)
My first attempt was not nearly as neat and tidy as yours but am hoping with a little practice I can polish this model up a bit. Great tutorial! Thank you, Sarah!
Weiter so, ichbin begeistert.
Hum, strange. In which step does it rip? I've folded the model from kami (60gsm), tissue foil (as sold in origami-shop, 50gsm), and from slightly heavier Kraft (not sure about the weight, perhaps 75gsm?). All worked fine.
I also closed sunk the corners of the square in the back to get a uniform octagon and star. The flaps in the front more easily popped up, but its a fun challenge.
Hello Sara which sort of papers do you use. I tried tot fold this star which a 53gr paper. It tears ! Thank you very much for your answer kind regards Francis
One has to use the absolute right paper, otherwise the result will be aweful and a lot of work has gone for nothing... So please give a hint what paper you use would be helpful, thanks a lot!
I almost always use standard origami paper (kami) in my videos, as this is widely available. Of course, using speciality paper can bring nicer results (as sometimes seen in the thumbnail or photo at the beginning), but it's not necessary. If I feel like a model can only be folded well from a specific type of paper, I do include it in the videos, but most times that's not the case -- at least in my opinion. I'm sorry to hear you feel otherwise about this design.
Felicidades a, me ha gustado mucho, mi problema es el tipo de papel que se utiliza en Origami. Me puedes ayudar a encontrarlo. Soy de España. Un saludo af ectuoso.
you have my condolences. this star is a beautiful way of honoring her

Spectacular I've made it using 10x10 cm and now I'm challenging myself to try the smallest version 5x5
Thanks for sharing
A lovely star and a wonderful way to honor your friend. Thank you for the great video and clear instructions!
I'm glad to hear you liked the video! Yes, I'm glad I could honor her in this way.

I love this pattern! Wonderful outcome, but more importantly: fun to fold!

Wunderschönes Modell, dass sich auch gut für einen Origami-Quilt eignet. :)
vielen Dank für das Video!

Thank you so much for this tutorial :> Beautiful star, looks very beautiful with backlighting, too.

I'm glad you like it!
Can I just say, your voice is so lovely!
Thanks. :)
#myfirst I remember looking for a origami star to make for Christmas. I'm glad I found your channel because I've learned so much. Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome. :)
Isn't this the same as Peter Engel's eight-point star that he published in Folding the Universe?
Thanks.
I love this model! I’ve always enjoyed models that require multiple squash folds simultaneously. Thank you for making this :)
its based in the origami sun by peter engel ?
Could you make a video for the difficult steps of the origami sun by peter engel?
생각보다도 접기쉽고 재밌네요!
So good and easy!
thanks for your precious time :-)
Me gustó mucho doblar la estrella gracias I like it
Thank you, Sara!
Nooooooo I folded it from the diagrams before you made the videoooooooo! I used pacon paper and it worked quite well though :)
Cool! Nice that you could you get a video in!
Thank you so much! =)
I managed to fold this model from the tutorial!
very neat model. thank you!
Actually the sun is just a small variation on an old Enge 8 point star. This star has the same squash many other 8 point stars need to lie flat.
Excellent work. Keep 'em comin'.

Another great video!

What kind of paper are you using as it appears to fold very differently to plain origami paper?
I used Kraft paper that is somewhat thicker than kami. It's actually paper that is no longer in production, someone sent it to me as a gift.
Super kanał super filmiki polecam
