I love how she says that the locking of the base of the rose is easy... That is the hardest part of the whole thing.

It's actually quite easy it was one of the first things I learned I used to make these f***erz by the dozen. Patience iz important.

Why this is my favorite origami rose model:
    1) Greatly simplifies the Kawasaki Rose. I can fold this in 3-5 minutes.
    2) Looks more natural than the original Kawasaki Rose.

  • @Rexis102

This was honestly the best of all the rose tutorials I’ve seen. I think what helps the most is when you reach the 3 dimensional folds, you have 2 points of reference to make sure you aligned them properly. Most tutorials only have 1, and it’s a hassle to get those to align properly anyways. To anyone in a similar situation as me or anyone having trouble with this version, let me know and I’ll gladly help out!

@@k4x1rda41 I watched a few videos and they actually add a few folds between camera cuts. All the comments praising the instructions are from accounts that look like @namename#### so I think they’re probably bots. People that don’t fit that mold are the ones saying the instructions aren’t clear.
That leads me to believe they’re just creators with bad instructions that use bots to pad their crappy content

hey! i really liked this video. i felt that the instructions were clear and detailed enough without over doing it. i really liked the woman's voice and the little extra hints she gave as she went along. her voice is very sweet, and her tone was very kind. i also really loved the design of the rose itself. kudos!

Mine didn’t come out as pretty, but for a first try I think it came out fairly well. It resembles a rose and that’s good. For anyone wanting to make this but getting discouraged by all the frustrated comments, I think anyone with a bit of origami experience will do fine.
Update: it’s been about a day and I’m trying again. One thing I’d recommend is when you’re shaping the rose with the pen, really try to open up the center quite a bit, it’ll look a lot better and it’s something she didn’t really point out.

Perfecttttt!! I made a prototype and have determined this model is the one! I have been looking for just the right type of rose to fold that isn't too hard or complicated but still achieves a more natural look over the boxy counterparts.
Thank you Sara! Im going to fold many out of moonlight sonata's sheet music and add a yellow rose to the middle of the finished paper bouquet! A perfect graduation gift for the girl i like :)

I've been practicing the origami rose found here on UA-cam by Origamite - Origami Video Instructions. After about 15 of those roses, I have it down pat. It's a nice rose, but very complex and time consuming.
I am happy to have discovered your tutorial, as it is similar, but easier to fold and perfect. I succeeded on my first try and it looks quite nice. Thank you!

Really excellent tutorial, Sara. I have been trying a number of different roses trying to find the one that balances the shape with the degree of difficulty so that I can do quite a few. This is the model I have decided to use. I am going to make a long chain of them to use as garland on my origami Christmas tree for the coming Christmas. I am doing 10 models a week so 520 models for the ornaments and then the roses as the garland. If I succeed and stay on track I will link pictures at Christmas time.

I have been on a rose folding kick the past couple of weeks and want to fold several different kinds so that I have a variety on my Christmas tree. I am the crazy person who is folding 500 models for my Christmas tree !! It has been easy to meet my 10 a week goal, especially with staying home orders. I have been wanting to learn to fold the Naomiki Sato Blooming Rose model. He has a pictorial tutorial on his IG. I have folded the Kawasaki rose, the Fukuyama model and several basic twisted models. I posted a comment and a question to his IG and he told me about his IG tutorial and told me I would have no trouble folding it if I had folded the Kawasaki, LOL! However, I think I am a more oral learner as I cannot seem to get it right just based on the picture tutorial. I was wondering if you would consider making a video of how to fold it? I am sure he would give permission as he seems like a very nice man and has posted the picture tut. It would be a huge help to me and I am sure many others. I followed along on this video and found this really easy to fold given your instruction. I have tried to follow a lot of Masahiro Ichikawa's roses from his tutorials but since he doesn't speak and never moves his hands away from the model, it is hard to grasp what he is actually doing. He hasn't done the Blooming Rose but he has so many variations for different roses. He has folded several that have a double helix and also a version that is much flatter than the Kawasaki and Fukuyama roses. Anyway, I am rambling here in some sort of stream of consciousness. That is what happens when you live by yourself, in the wood, during stay at home orders. You end up writing books rather than comments !! Thank you again for sharing not only your talent but your ability to explain and demonstrate any model.
    Deborah

Okay, I did this on the first try. I've never folded more than paper boats before. Yay!
But god the locking was hard, so to everyone struggling: make sure to REALLY PUSH THOSE FLAPS IN
CREASE IT IF YOU HAVE TO
they wil open the fuck back up if you dont
don't worry about how short the rose is, just give those flaps a real good push. they will lock. you can do it
