Kurt seemed to feel guilty about, or wanted to be perceived to be, achieving the success he absolutely sought. Or it's just his duality coming through, it could have been a gateway so he could do something like In Utero to a larger audience eventually.. After Nevermind they released Incesticide, to show you what they were about and weed out the crowd. Kurt was a punk that took out the King of Pop.
They've been my #1 band since 1992, and I cover loads of their songs live. Both albums have their own treats and attitudes - Nevermind is a bit more jolly and easy on the ear. But when I'm p!ssed off, I prefer the vibe of In Utero - especially the more violent drum sound. I've often introduced my cover of 'All Apologies' as the song I want played at my funeral.
there is one major part your missing, Nirvana loved Butch Vigs mixes (as you stated), but that's not what got released. What ended up getting put out was a mix done by Andy Wallace, which is the one that they eventually turned sour on. The Butch Vig mixes can be found under the, "Devonshire" mix
The mix you're looking for, starting at 0:32, was created by us Soundscapes rock specifically for the video and is not published elsewhere. However, it's flattering that you enjoyed it. Thank you!
Butch Vig still makes money from the album. Question to Nirvana fans do you think he deserves the royalties ? Do you think Neverrmind could have made it without his mixes?
I think 'Nevermind' sounded-and still sounds-exactly how it was meant to. However, you can't fault a band for going in a different direction with their follow-up record. And, on that note, 'In Utero' sounds & sounded, exactly as it was meant to. Both producers did their jobs of realizing the band's vision for their body of work at that particular time & place.
They are just different...but the songs on Nevermind are better, they changed the world...they changed the face of music....not that the songs on In Utero aren't great, but the World needed Nevermind's songs produced by Butch Vig. If their second album had've been In Utero receorded by Albini it would not have changed the world the way it did. But both, and MTV Unplugged are masterpieces. Unplugged may, in fact, be Kurt's finest moment. I just wish he was here today. Imagine what he would be producing once her honed his craft some more and made acoustic songs etc...he would've been bigger than the Beatles he was so fucking talented!
I think nevermind is a more perfected album which was butch vigs goal I think but in utero is more raw and rough but I think Nirvana (Kurt Cobain) was always looking to get away from thing that Nirvana became so Steve albinis was to bring back underground to me
Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, give to Butch "Nevermind" and to Steve "In Utero". IMO they are both great producers and albums, and I believe favouring one over the other is absolutely inappropriate. Thanks for this brilliant video,
Kurt was a bit of hypocrite when it came to album sales and fame and everything else that goes with it. On one hand he would bitch about be too popular, yet on the hand he would complain to mtv that they were not showing enough nirvana videos each day.
Without the mainstream success of Nevermind, the opportunity to record In Utero with Albini, might have never materialized. Imo… In Utero is a better, more cohesive work of art than Nevermind. But a lingering question remains… would Kurt & Nirvana have been able to grow into the role as THE voice of their generation? I honestly don’t have an answer, only speculation. But the way things worked out, I’m thankful for all the music Nirvana gave us… before, during, and after Nevermind. ☮️💟☸️
Anyone can record with Albini, you just hire the guy. If he likes your band and your on an indie he’ll even do it cheap. Good guy, his bAck catalogue of work is amazing
All the different reasons and all the different things people think they know when really it just comes down to Kurt had taken Courtney as they were recording nevermind what most people don't realize is Courtney Love was just prior dating Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan who Butch Vig did their first album and just like a true heroin addict got a lot of success so he decided to go somewhere else

Where can I find that Come As You Are version of @SoundscapesRock Mix that starts at 0:32? I couldn't find it on their channel. Thanks

Nevermind might not have been as successful without his involvement, so I'd say his continued royalties seem justified.

Kurt Cobain had a love/hate relationship to everything, including himself.

never Ditch one of those ultra Rare Butch Vig of a Lifetime kiddos
I think Vig also got busy with his own band

I love these videos ❤👍
Thank you!
Ambos trabajos me parecen estupendos, así que los productores escogidos para cada uno de ellos fueron la mejor elección en su momento,
I’ve never heard in “Utero” pronounced like that before’ perhaps I’ve been wrong all these years aswell as multiple other people 😂
Quentin Tarantino once pronounced In Utero as Utario 😂 and he is thanked on the liner notes, ha
They didn't abandon him they didn't want another Nevermind 😂
i like more steve albini cause i love rfus guitar intro made by steve yes steve play guitar in rfus
In utero was better than never mind I think
