The Scrapstore - a nationwide charity preventing landfill.
My cushion pad measured 23" x 15" so I cut 22" x 14" to end up with a cover 2" smaller than the pad. That achieves a very tight cover, you can adjust if you'd rather a loose fit.
You are so talented 💕🏴🇺🇸 I called my mother Mammy, I lost her 52yrs ago when I was only 26yrs old. Still miss her, you are so lucky Helen to have your Mum, I know you know that. 💕

You often say you’re impatient but my goodness I think you need patience using a sewing machine. The last time I went near one was in needlework class at school. Memories of the frustration I felt when the stitches kept puckering have never left me 😂

Hi Helen, lovely video as always. You are very talented, I sold my sewing machine as I could never get the stitches to lie flat, the back of the stitching line was always once big mess of clumped up thread, so frustrating. The boat day looked glorious, you are so lucky to have close family and the means to be able to enjoy such lovely experiences. Thank you 😊

Great job, I have done pillow (or cushion covers) and enjoyed watching your little tricks with piping. - Miss My Mother very much, she was 71 - 24:55 cancer - luckily there were 3 of us sisters that could pitch in for her care and support each other. Dad had already passed a few years before. Your Mom is a sweetie, we all enjoy. ❤

What can you not do Helen? You are so talented, from cooking, sewing, decorating, modelling 27:55 , blogging, making labels on the computer etc. You would pay a fortune in the shops for these gorgeous cushions. Boat looked super and what fun the ring looked with Billy and Harriet. I also thought Mom was an American term🤣. We just say Mum, although my husband, from Dumfriesshire, said Mam which I thought was quite strange coming from Glasgow.🏴xx

The weather is the same - finally a week of hot temps with no rain. The first of the Summer! Good job on the cushions! I used to love to sew, but haven't made anything for years - sewing machine is so heavy (and old - kind of like me!). Looked like a lovely day to be out on the water - lovely to do this with your family!

Hi Helen. Don't under-estimate yourself as regards sewing! You looked very professional sewing your cushion covers. I have to hand stitch everything as i can't thread a sewing machine . Luckily i dont sew very much!! Looked like a fun day out on the boat with the family. Thank goodness we are getting some decent weather at last. TTFN xx

Helllooo Helen, You've brought back my sewing, school day memories from the late 1960s; trying to sew on a Bernina, which I used to call the yellow devil; tore my material almost every time! You're extremely talented - the cushions are lovely. It looks as if Hattie and Billy had a fab time on the boat trip. Thank you for the video. x

Hi Helen, it dose not matter what you call your mother i lost my mum when she was only 64,im 62 now and really think how young she was to pass but she was very ill it was a blessing when i look back,my Daughter calls me mum as i called mine,its the same as granny, grandma, Nana,nanny,i dont think it matters they are all lovely words that mean the relationship is close.i also think you are very competent sewer must be nice to look at your work when you are sat on your sofa,iv never been a craft person but i love to see talented crafting,please dont let the caravan situation get you down im sure there will be something come along 😊❤😊

Helen, i can't thread a sewing machine. I broke a machine at Domestic Science class at school trying to thread it.I have tried so many times. My friends mum tried to show me several times. Absolutely not.😂
My brother would have let me drown in our day.We killed other.Lovely to see the children get on so well.
Haha, they really don't, they fight all the time! Just shows you can't believe everything you see. They were just having a good 10 minutes in amongst the mayhem! xx
My sister was the 'crafty' one in the family. Like you Helen she could sew, knit, bake and cook. We didn't look alike at all. I'd black hair and she was ginger and our DS teacher was ginger too so she had a head start anyway! 😂 The day the teacher discovered we were in fact sisters, she was so astonished that a numbskull at all her subjects and her star pupil were related... well she practically needed the smelling salts!! 😅

You are more talented than you let on!. I sew, but would not attempt pillows like that with beading! I’ve only made envelope style covers for my patio pillows, which come out well, but next go around I’ll use your trick of cutting the fabric size smaller than the pillow so I’ll get a tight fit. Loved seeing your family on the boat-yes they are lucky children❤️. Looking forward to your next haul/hall😉

My favourite sewing project is cushions the only problem is fabric is so expensive here in Sicily. I'm also an amateur self taught. I've never done one with piping!! Must try!! Your cushions looked fab. 🤗

Gosh Helen you are so talented…….love the cushions…I’ve just bought new sewing machine last week,so was going to attempt cushions,but without zip….do you have pattern…or step by step guide how to make without zip.
Hi, practice makes perfect. In truth, I would make a simple cover first, so just a square or rectangle and then slip stitch one seam to close it. For the amount of times you actually take off the cover it doesn't really matter, that's what I do when I don't have a zip. Cut the cover 1 or 2 inches smaller than the cushion pad, depending on how tight you want it. Good luck xx

Hi Helen. I really admire your sewing skills and your cushions look so professional! I did have to laugh about the feather flying episode but honestly, the only needlework I can manage is sewing on a button which I was taught years and years ago in order to earn a Brownie badge !! I’m very envious of your boat- we have the weather and the beautiful seas here in Greece but sadly, no boat !!! So pleased you finally have some sunny weather but isn’t it just typical when the children have to go back to school ?! ❤️🥰

You soon get used to the speed of the boat and we wear lifejackets when we are going to and from the dock. xx

Re: the caravan. Have you considered speaking with others who have purchased one? Not trying to put a damper on things but I know of four people who gave bought them with great ideas of travelling. All but one have been sold after the novelty wore off. So Helen it's a lot of money so think carefully.❤
She could try renting one for a while and see if she likes it before buying one .
I won't do anything hasty. I have the opposite situation here, a few of my friends have them and absolutely love them..... xx
