- I recorded this video a few days ago, but held it back in favour of the M and S Haul, as I thought you might prefer to see what's out there..... just in case there's any confusion on dates mentioned.
After many years of flower arranging I thought I'd share some hints and tips I've picked up over the years.
The red foliage is Cotinus x
You got a good amount of roses for £5 and you arranged them beautifully and gave some great tips
Thank you xx
Than you for this video, I love flowers but my budget doesn’t run to.florist flowers every week so this has been very helpful. I find your videos are so believable as you come across as I friend I would have over for coffee.
Thank you xx
I shall be using my Cotinus/ Smoke bush to fill out my supermarket flowers from now on. Thank you.
Have fun! xx
Thank you great tips love roses.🌺
Glad you like them! xx
Cannot wait to try this out.
I'm loving your channel, with the tips and hauls. I made the sausage rolls with apple sauce, they went down a treat, 😋
Thank you, that's lovely xx
Thankyou Helen for the tips, I’m definitely going to have a go now I’ve watched you
Have fun! xx
I'm sure I'm not alone in being in shock at how inexpensive this roses were. They would have cost a minimum of $25 here in the US! Beautiful arrangement!
Really! Wow, I guess we don't realise how lucky we are sometimes xx
I live in the Pacific Northwest, and roses grow beautifully here. All summer and into fall I have plentiful blooms in my yard. It borders on being excessive because hubby and I are hooked on sticking the trimmed off stems into the soil just to see if they take root and more often than not they do! I think here at the grocery those would run about $12.
@@lilolmecj Lucky you! xx
Flowers have become so expensive and we don't seem to have the same choice these days. They are beautiful. Something special about white roses.
Hi Jane, I love white roses, adding a bit of foliage helps pad them out xx
I might be wrong but I think the other shrub foliage you used is Cotinus. They are quite expensive to buy in garden centres but add a beautiful pop of dark burgundy in green shrubbery. I always have removed the leaves that would go under water, but I'll remember the other tips for the next time I get flowers so thank you !
Yes it is Cotinus, a very pretty shrub. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment xx
Thank you Helen for some great tips for flower arrangements. I often buy supermarket flowers and have found out the day when they come in fresh to my local store and try to buy them then. Makes a difference if they haven’t been around too long and been handled too much.
Thank you xx
Hi Helen you are a talent Lady.
Yes I need some flowers 💐 to arrange as you’ve done,So thank you Helen for inspiration xx 💐🌹💐❤️❤️❤️
My pleasure xx

Glad it was helpful! xx
They look absolutely beautiful, your a talented lady. Really interesting and helpful thank you Helen xx💐
Thank you xx
Hi Helen loved the video on the flower display..please can we have more .x💐💐
I will try! xx
Good Morning Helen, I loved this as I buy Tesco roses every 2 weeks, such good value as they last well. Florist flowers are sooo expensive and I feel so guilty as I don’t use them very often due to the costs. I tend to use them for delivery to friends and relatives special occasions but not regularly. The arrangement looked lovely 🌺
Good morning. Thank you for watching. It's difficult to justify florist prices, but by using them for local delivery etc it just as good. To be honest we've had plenty of 'floral demonstrators' confess to using supermarket flowers. Their ability to buy in bulk keeps the prices down. xx
I did the very same with my bunch of roses given to me on Sunday.. ideal tips thanks!
Thank you very much xx
@@jamespatrick20906 me James of course.
I loved this video, I did not know about these basic tips. You teach very well. The effect after with the roses looks stunning. Thank you for sharing.

Glad you like them! xx
Really enjoyed this. Thanks. Like your videos.
Glad to hear it! xx
They look beautiful Helen and what a bargain for a fiver. Another lady I follow likes to have fresh flowers in the house and she uses a piece of chicken wire (scrunched up) in the bottom of the vase to hold the blooms in place. Would love a tour of your kitchen. x
Yes chicken wire is a tried and tested method, but not everyone has it lying about. Hard on the hands too... Glad you enjoyed the video xx
Beautiful arrangement.
Thank you xx
Fab tips ! I love fresh flowers in my home but would never have thought of your ideas. I'll be giving it a go as I have laurel hedges to provide the foliage :)
Great stuff xx

They look so beautiful. I am off to the supermarket to have a go. Thanks for showing me.
Hope you enjoy and thank you xx
Helen what a lovely vase of flowers you’ve created , I’m definitely going to try and copy it as I usually just bung them in a vase and hope for the best 🤣thank you xxx
It's so easy and makes more of an impact. xx
❤❤❤❤
Beautiful. Thank you. From now on I will use some foliage from my garden as my flowers always have a problem sitting up in my vase. Sellotape - brilliant idea. Does nobody use oasis anymore?
Hi Anne, thank you. We do use Oasis but it's discouraged as it's not eco friendly xx
Loved this demo vlog Helen - really useful tips, thankyou. Just wondered, do you favour changing the flower water within the time the flowers are supposed to last, and do you add anything (feed) to the fresh water? xx
Yes, absolutely. I add food if I have some, but clean water is probably more important. xx
Have you tried a criss cross of sellotape across the vase top? Doesn’t show and works well
Oops. Should have watched a bit further.
That's a Smoke Bush foliage
