👁 About this video : In today's video we do the spare tire delete on the Jeep Wrangler! The kit from Suparee has all the hardware needed and it's a pretty simple installation, just time consuming. To start off, you need to remove the rear camera surround and then the tire. From there, you can start to loosen the bolts holding the actual bracket to the truck. The wiring for the third brake light is easy to take out, but you do need to remove the studs that hold the tire first, and then you can wiggle them out. For the installation, we decided to run the license plate lights to the factory location which meant we needed some more wire to reach. So we did a little more work then using the passenger side tail light, but you would still need to run the wire from the door to the interior so going through the black strap was the best solution for that. With the lights and third brake light assembled and the extra wiring, it was time to install that bracket and connect the wires! The wiring took the most time just mapping it out! But I love the new look and the fact that the camera is closer to the truck meaning that I can see the entire rear bumper now to see exactly where the truck is!

@@BrosFOURRSpeed Near the end of the video, you pointed out how you didn't like the look of the original wire sticking out. You could have re-routed it along with the new wire.

I think I'll have to agree with you and say it looks so much better without the spare blocking everything, great job! Heard you say something about moving. Hope that process goes well because as we all know, moving is not easy.
It completely changes the look and I have better visibility! And yeah been working on that process for a few weeks now, can't wait to settle in!

Have you had to use one before? Personally I haven't and the one time our family had a flat, they made it home while it was still safe, so I'm not worried about not having one. Lots of cars don't come with a spare too.

What if you don't want the license plate white lights? Would it cut the wire stuff in half?
You could just change the bulbs or not hook them up.

I like the look of the tire in the back. I think a tire should be on the back of most SUV’s. Give it a more sporty look. Obviously just my opinion. BTW, I hope you never need that tire.

Howd you do that without pinching the wires on the license plates light, either my lights are F’d or they manufactured it poorly.
They were pinched slightly. But not enough to effect anything
what about that whole it might get dust inside the cabin
The vents behind the license plate should be fine since they are covered, and the plugs on each side were just for the tire assembly to stay off the paint! It should be ok!

Do you have the specs of what size the bolt that you mount it with is mine didn’t come with a stock tire carrier so I don’t have the bolts

Do you know if they have this for the 2020 wrangler
It should be the same bracket as on mine! I have an 18 JL so it shouldn't be different for a 2020 Wrangler.

I took that off, off camera since most people wouldn't have that installed. I still have that and installed it back after.

Great video. You could probably have done a better job actually showing the trim removal, as I watched the video, but still have no idea how the left rear trim is removed. Also that wire you don’t like could have been moved to behind the bracket you installed where the license plate lights, break light and backup camera wires go. But all around good video, thanks.
Can you time stamp the trim section you need help on? And for the wiring, I probably put it where it made the most sense lol, did this a long time ago so can’t remember.

The time stamp begins at 6:00 and ends at about 6:37. Although it looks simple enough, closeups on how you removed that first “seatbelt” thing, would have been very helpful. As well as filming the entire removal process for that trim would have been extremely helpful. Unfortunately there was an edit in there, and the trim suddenly went from firmly attached, to completely off. For someone with an intractable fear of damaging or breaking something on my new Jeep, a job like this can be more daunting that one might believe without specific instructions or advice. Thank you so much for caring enough to even ask me this. It’s really nice to know that someone actually cares about feedback.
@@laospeedwagon3023 So in that time frame, the tie down hooks just had a bolt holding them in place. From there you just slowly start wiggling it out. It’s been a while since I did this but slow movements help. The next piece by the roll bar had a tab that I mentioned and you do the same process! I could see it being intimidating but patience is key, don’t just start pulling left and right, you got it!

But I think you’re saying that its completely held in by push-in trim “clips” so I can just use slow patient force to pull it out? That was the best option since the license plate light hook up was on the driver side of the vehicle, how did you do this on your Jeep?

Yeah I thought this would be like an hour job, but they never are lol! It took some planning off camera to know what we were going to do! And I cleaned it some, but it should be good!
