Yep, a few trees. Most are imported. I remember the ones out 4th street going to Reese AFB... they were really just planted to block the cotton trailers from the wind. I could be wrong. Loved Lubbock, especially the parks that were really retaining ponds for the storms.

The wind was blowing so hard I saw a hen lay an egg 3 times before she had the sense to turn around.

Great album, Honky Tonk Masquerade and Because Of The Wind Are top 10 through all times. But I love Joe Ely the rocker too , think Love And Danger is close to
perfect !

I actually lost a girlfriend because of that wind.
She was in town going to Lubbock Christian. I fell in love..she was very captivating....but she started and ended in one spring semester...
....the worst sandstorm most people could ever remember . It was like living on Mars ....the air became a giant orange dome and the sand was absolutely in and on everything. Well...that wind probably saved both of us from getting married too young !!
Funny thing was...she was from Oregon...and loved the forests etc...
....and I could never understand why anyone would ever want to leave Lubbock...so I guess that wind knew more than we did.
