    I discovered some incredible research about cleansing, that I NEEDED to share with you. Turns out we make a LOT of mistakes cleansing, and cleansing improperly can absolutely throw our delicate acid mantle out of whack, making our skin dry, flaky, and break out!
    I hope this video helps you get clear skin.
    If you liked it then take a moment to give me a thumbs up and subscribe to this channel! :)

    Thank you for this information. If I use a night mask cream, would you still recommend to only use water in the morning? I wash my face with a cleanser in the mornings to remove the night pack or the oil I set on top of my face at night. I would love to hear your input on this please.
    I discovered your channel yesterday and have watched so many videos already 😀

    Hi Olena, thanks for the great video but I might be wrong but the cleanser you recommend on you blog Bioderma foaming cleanser has sls in it. I’m really confused. Please tell me I’m wrong 🙏🏼

      Hi there, that cleanser contains sodium laureth sufate (SLES), which is a very gentle surfactant, unlike sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) that is extremely harsh.
      Love,

      Olena Beley oh great I was really worried it would be too harsh. It’s so hard finding the right products 😫. I’ll have to remember the difference for future reference. 😊

    do you recommend glycolic acid & salicylic acid cleanser once a day? or cetaphil gentle skin cleanser cuz it says it’s ph balanced?

      ?

    • @OlenaBeley
      @OlenaBeley  6 років тому +3

      Hi Leena,
      I don't recommend acid cleansers at all because I think acids are super awesome ingredients that shouldn't be washed down the drain. Acidic cleansers is not the same as cleansers with acids in them.
      Regarding Cetaphil, it is a terrible cleanser with a PH of 6.8, which is outside the healthy range for healthy skin. You can learn more about common drugstore cleansers in this article popthepimple.com/why-you-need-to-throw-out-your-cetaphil-cleanser/
      My favourite cleanser has a PH of 5.5, you can watch my review here ua-cam.com/video/udW1uOMDBzY/v-deo.html
      Hope that answers your questions!
      Love,
      Olena

    Do you apply anything after you cleanse in the morning with water?

    • @OlenaBeley
      @OlenaBeley  6 років тому +21

      Yes, I have a 5 step morning routine that includes a chemical exfoliant, hydrating spray, serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen. All steps use tiny amounts of products, except for sunscreen where I try to be generous! :)
      However, I've found that skipping a cleanser in the morning is better suited to dry or normal skin, not oily skin as was the case in my case. After about a month, though my skin was extremely hydrated all the time, I found that my forehead started getting tiny clogs.
      Cleansing twice a day is ideal for oily skin, like if you find yourself waking up with an oil slick then you should cleanse with a soap-free, super gentle cleanser, with a ph of 5.5!
      Hope this answers your question :)
      Love,
      Olena

    hello, olena. I've been binge watching your videos lately, and they seem to be helping me out with a lot of facts I never knew about acne. thanks a lot.
    also, bioderma cleanser that you use has sodium laureth sulfate, right? Do you suggest using it?
    would be kind if you reply.

      Geetika Saini yes the face wash she use/recommended has sls in it, a few other toxic chemicals also. I looked up the ingredients on amazon.

    • @OlenaBeley
      @OlenaBeley  6 років тому +4

      Hi there Geetika Saini!
      Thanks so much for watching, means the WORLD!
      There's actually a difference between sodium laureth sulfate(SLES) and sodium lauryl sufate (SLS). I find the latter to irritate me, while SLES does not (found in Bioderma's Sebium Purifying gel cleanser after another more mild surfactant called sodium cocoamphoacetate).
      The poison makes the dose, and context matters. I would not use a cleanser if the primary surfactant ingredient was SLS or even SLES, however in this case since the SLES follows another gentle surfactant I don't see any issues. And neither has my skin, even in the dead of winter.
      Plus, about 7 years of using this cleanser twice a day have proven it to stand up the test of time, and to never ever break me out. In fact, when I stopped washing my face with cleanser in the morning (instead with just plain water) I noticed more tiny comedones on my forehead. These cleared up within a week and a half of using this cleanser twice a day.
      So Fiyah toxic how? If you plan to eat this cleanser, then please don't.
      Love,
      Olena

      Olena Beley Thank you for the kind reply. I've been able to keep my acne under control using many of the tips you had shared on your blog. It's only the acne scars on the face and body acne which is quite bothering me. I hope I'm able to get freedom from this sickness too, someday.
      Also, I'm eagerly waiting for your next project(Clear it with love!), and wish you the best! Lots of love.

      @@OlenaBeley I'm confused. In this video, you said that you started washing your face with water only in the morning and your skin improved tremendously. This comment says that when you stopped washing your face with cleanser in the morning you noticed an increase in tiny comedones on your forehead.

    Hey!
    Is Sebamed good? It mentions 5.5 pH on its products ,but I am worried about the SLS in it. Since everyone is like they are not good. Don't use products which have them.

    • @OlenaBeley
      @OlenaBeley  4 роки тому +3

      I don't know which exact product you're talking about so I can't comment on the product, but if it has sodium lauryl sulfate in it then definitely avoid it, but if it has sodium laureth sulfate then it's a great cleansing agent.
      Hope this helps.

      Hello! Started using Sebamed foaming cleanser about a year and a half ago. It's a great product that has really worked for me and my reactive/sensitive & acne prone skin. Just checked it out online, and I don't see SLS on the ingredients list for the foaming cleanser, but the Sebamed cleansing bar does contain SLS so it might be drying but I guess it depends on each person whether they can manage this or not. The foaming cleanser is more expensive, but a close friend of mine has been using the cleansing bar for the past 2 and half years roughly and its worked great for her so I'm a firm believer in Sebamed cleansers coz the pH balance thing seems legit. I cleanse once a day and I've been super chuffed about the results. Happy cleansing!

    Все, рісля фрази "З Канади привіт" я не втрималась, рішила що теж напишу хоч привіт! :) У тебе дуже хороший контент, серед кууууучі всього що є "в інтернетах" дуже тяжко найти людей, які розуміються на тому що говорять) Більшість відео я дивлюсь з величезним facepalm'ом, а тут - накінець-то щось, з чим я згідна і сиджу вся така "YES, GIRL!!!" Так що так тримати!
