  • I saw these Victorian button up boots on an auction site, they had been found buried in a shed that was being cleared. I had already used 1950’s ice skates in an art project and thought this could be the next one for this kind of project. When I received them I could see how roached they actually were. This is the first part of their journey, the restoration or rather a race against time to stop them falling apart.

    In antique shops you can find the button hook tools made of sterling silver. These were used to pull the buttons through the eye holes.

      Yeah they do. I don’t intend these boots to be opened again as I am going to use them for an art piece, but if I was going to I would need a hook as what I didn’t show in that video , I had to re do the buttons stitching them via the holes as I couldn’t do them up by hand 😂. Good job the buttons have metal shanks
