It's unlikely this particular tortoise will live to 100 years considering its inadequate care.
The housing and climate is unsuitable plus its diet poor.
@@modelsteamers671 A pampered and well loved animal won't live a long life safe from from natural predators??? You're wrong.
@clevelandcbi it's safe from predators but poor diet and housing will drastically reduce its lifespan.
I have a baby leopard tortoise now and I have always been so inspired by your relationship with Tiptoe. Been a long time fan 🤗 thanks for the education you give us for these fabulous animals

I think you are a loving Mom to Tiptoe so sweeeeeet ❤❤❤ I too adopted a child with special needs. We are having problems here in Albuquerque NM. They have no programs for Disabilities. They don't have any Disabilities Department either 😕 So we might have to move to a state that does. Nikolas is 30yrs and is totally dependent upon us. He has Downs and severe Autism. He is nonverbal as well. We need a program for him. Ca, AZ, IA, NC and SC all have programs for Special Needs Disabilities!!! When we lived in NC the Habilitation workers were so good and nice and couldn't do enough for you. We might have to go back to the East Coast. Keith and I are both from the East Coast. You are a superhero!! It is so interesting to see how each state differs when it comes to providing programs for adults with disabilities. Biggest dream would be to change this!!!

Caitlin, there are other UA-camr with sulcata tortoise, but they’re not as cheerful and sunny. Also, they aren’t as hands on like you. You explain things that help educate ppl about Tiptoe. While I know you like the education side of informing Tiptoe, I’d love to see you doing some educational events where you and Tiptoe get payed. You both are very good with kids.
P.S. I used to wonder why you used to make these elaborate meals for Tiptoe, even going as far as pretend bbq’ing is meat (tomato/watermelon). That really is the teacher coming out of you. I’ve had some great teachers growing up and had to dig deep into the recess of my mind to pick up the nuances of your teaching skills. If you ever go back, you’ll be a great asset to any school in special education and early learning and development. 👍😁

You're great Caitlin! and so is tiptoe, but I cant help to think your bevy of natural gifts are all getting funneled into 1 turtle. You can showcase your love of life and beauty through this one turtle all you want, but the way you talked about pandemic throwing a wrench into your corporate job, coinciding with the start of the turtle videos, means that you don't want to settle for just a turtle forever.

@LifeHacks-ut4pc more space, ground that he can burrow into. The housing box is tiny and had no bedding, keeping a tortoise in those conditions is cruel.
She is exploiting the animal for her own gain
I always wonder, when I watch videos made by people who turned their pets into their career/income, what they will do when their cat or dog or bird gets too old to be in videos or finally passes away. I guess for you the advantage is that Tiptoe will be living at least as long as you do, if not longer. So I guess your livelihood is assured! Thanks for sharing the big guy. I enjoy it!

Have you tried to get him to use the AAC buttons to communicate wants and needs to you? I have seen dogs, cats, birds, and even fish taught how to use AAC devices and Tiptoe can easily trigger buttons with a foot or head but.
He looked so disappointed that the shoes weren’t edible.

That's a great idea. Tiptoe is gentle and moves slow enough as to not be a threat to anyone.

In a perfect world I would find a way to combine the two. Possible children's books where I can do "teaching" but through stories.. hmm teach by example idk some sort of combo but two passions in one?? I feel like we could be unstoppable

EDIT: I'm also buying her a giant iguana for her b-day in September. I'm not sure Indiana weather would favor a tortoise, and I'd be okay with it crawling up on my lap in January (NO OFFENSE to Tiptoe😃: Her 120 pound dog is already a ball-crusher, and he's shell-less).
