I understand how this all works, but thank you for educating people on how this works. Other than Phu, I don't see anyone else passing this knowledge on to the newcomers. Keep on keeping on brother.
Thanks man, I never knew how the new stuff worked but the old versions I do. I ride a 36 hole aluminum hub shell 9t nankai free coaster. Broke the axle a couple times but everything else was fine and it was an easy fix w a spare axle. Learning about the planetary free coaster was fun to watch I admire your attention to detail, Thanks again.
Same here. It’s the kinda thing where if the planetary hub is right for you, you just never wanna go back. There was a point in time where I was scared they weren’t going to catch on and that I’d have to make the free night one last forever in case they ever stopped making them.
Speaking of regular freecoasters, a friend of mine asked me and I didn't know the answer: Is it possible to make one of the KHE-type freecoasters work like a cassette? Like add a lot of spacers internally to make the gap so small it feels like a cassette. Of course he would have to backpedal like a cassette on fakies, it's just that he told me he prefers cassettes but he really likes the absolute silence of the KHE-type F/Cs... is it possible, or is the internal mechanism going to explode within a week??
There’s already a clutch in production which gives you an option for less pedal gap than what exists now. I’ve been riding it since September 2022 and released a video about it recently
@@Brant_Moore I have been waiting for it to come out. I am currently back to running my old bsd westcoaster. I have been having issues with my revolution since I got it. It seems that whenever I start to trust it, it engages on a fakie and sends me flying. I have tried every trick under the sun to dial it in. I even went through my O ring supply and tried different thicknesses to see if I could fix it. I will wait for the new clutch and give that a try.

Great perspective!! Again, really cool look! Thanks man
I learned at age six when I disassembled my huffy , You never know until you take it apart…😉😎
Interesting. I feel like that whole ramp sytem could be beefed up a bit?
Its never under any more force than it takes to lift the pawls so it doesn’t really need it
I don’t think I could go back to a regular freecoaster. Planetary freecoasters are the shit

Right on. Is that the new 1.5 clutch assembly?
No this is showing the current model clutch. I’ll have to redo this once the new one is available
I cant wait for high engagement plantetary coasters to get invented. I like my BSD, but it feels like a janky mtb hub to me.
