I’ve been using excel since 1992. I still keep finding new things from your videos. Keep up the great work. I need to make your Chanel mandatory at work
this is one of those things that i've always said to myself "i'll google that after this piece of work" and always forget once i've finished the task 😄
So glad to have stopped by to learn about the Pivot Table Settings. Building a dozen or more Pivot Tables daily and all those [groan] annoying changes from the default wasted a lot of time over the years. No more! Thanks Leila! 👍
Something you didn't mention with autocorrect is that the entries you add here apply for all Office programs not just Excel - which I find really useful.
Or in reverse, if you don't want shit to autocorrect your _also_ need to do this in ever single office app to shut off autocorrect. Shit is so annoying.
The beauty of this video is that I already knew most of the features, but I couldn't even imagine how to upgrade my work with them!!! Just genius!!!! Thanks 😊😊
It would be nearly impossible to find a more impressive and knowledgeable personality on UA-cam, thank you so much for the skill in which you bring the information forward.
Can't wait for the leading zero's option to be released!! This one has been needed for a very long time!! :) Love all your videos... they are so helpful and easy to learn from!! You are my "go to" when I'm stuck with anything! Thank you for sharing!
Pivot default info was very helpful. Sometimes it's the small things that make a difference to people's work lives. I have subscribed now, and feel like I have my personal productivity coach, Leila sitting with me as I work. Thank you.
this is so helpful, especially about leading zeros. been figuring out how to retain the zeros on my report control numbers, now i know. thanks so much.
Thank you Leila for 4 + 2 Tips! All very useful and I particularly liked the Pivot Table one. It's going to save so much effort and time! It's always worth the wait for Thursday with Leila! 🙂
Thanks a lot for you tips, these are awesome, and your English is very easy to understand, I'm from Chile with the intermediate level english, and I can understand all your comments. Bless
The Pivot Table setting adjustment is SO helpful! I always set up my pivot tables like you did and I had no idea I could change those settings! Thank you!
Thank you for the Useful tips. You could also include - Options - Formulas- Working with Formula - "Unchecking - Use GetPivotData Functions for Pivot Table reference; which eases while carrying computations with Pivot tables
Hi. Doo you think it is possible to format as well the data by default in a Pivot table? I mean, for example, get the sum instead of count of my data systematically, and get the values with a separator for thousands?
Thanks for Start screen tip & Pivot Table default settings. Also in Autocorrect (not used enough ) put your frequently used LONG text; especially those LONG nested custom formulas :( there
Great tips. Thanks Leila. I'm going to activate the 5th right now. It is very annoying to have to always choose the blank workbook. Another that I think is very useful is, in Advanced, the one that allows the editing of cells. I don't like to edit cells when I double-click. I'd rather go the reference that's made there. It is very usefull to review files and immediately go to the sheet or analisys that I want to see! I look forward for another video of you 💚
Leila I love your videos and your story. I’ve been doing excel for over 25 years and I still usually learn something from your videos. On changing the default behavior of keys like enter. That to me can be dicey. Might make your workstation fit better but then usually any other persons computer you’re on the setting is the other way. Just a thought BUT the great thing about your videos, you are t telling people they have to, just showing the option
Great tips! Immediatly used the enter-does-not-move, pivot table defaults, and open with blank sheet settings. :) Thank you Leila! As an addition to Autocorrect: it can also come very handy if you like to use Unicode characters that are not easily entered by keyboard directly. E.g. arrow characters like → or ←, or orthographical quotation marks like (German version) „ and “. For this I have Autocorrect rules that replace 'dash dash greater' with the right arrow, or quote sign with two dashes prefixed or postfixed. You get the idea. Just choose some character sequence that is easy to remember for you and is not used normally. Another example is for check box characters where I have []- → ☐ and []x → ☑ (i.e. [] resembling an empty box and minus resp. x for unchecked or checked, use whatever fits your way of thinking). A good choice is also using :stuff: , i.e. some keyword enclosed by colons, as this normally doesn't exist in normal texts. Many messengers use this syntax, too, for inputting emojis. I use it e.g. as :1/2: yields ½, :1/4: → ¼ etc., :ok: → ✓ etc. (UA-cam fiddles around with dash-dash and converts it into striked text, so I had to use words to describe these character sequences. Google for "How to Strike Through, Bold, or Italicize Text in UA-cam Comments" for more on that.)
Thanks for the pivot table tips. I like a custom workbook template to auto load at every time a new workbook is opened. It has a custom theme, zoomed to 75%, only has one worksheet tab, and includes the date and time in the footer of reports printed as PDF files. Customize a spreadsheet, save as a template instead of a workbook, choose Book as the filename, and save it in the Excel startup folder (C:\Users\{user name here}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART\Book.xltx)
I agree with the many comments about the Pivot Table settings. That will be enormously helpful. I make a lot of pivot tables, and each and every time, I need to deselect the autoformatting. Changing the global default will be fantastic!
Another tour of Leila's Excel Mansion ... opening doors to rooms that I never knew even existed. PS At the 10 minute mark " ... thank you for being here ...". No ... thank YOU for being here ... otherwise I wouldn't be here ... 😍
The last tip was awesome and I’ll share with the team at work and even clients. We work implementing accounting software and we always run into the issue with losing leading zeros when importing data into the database.
Hi Leila. I like the option of changing what happens when pressing 'Enter'. I can see that being useful on projects when developing and testing formulas. Thanks for posting. Cheers from Cincinnati, USA
These tips are great, thanks for another amazing video Leila! I particularly like your suggestion that moving up or left on Enter would be a great prank! Here's another - add a custom list using the entries: "Jan, Marcia, Greg, Bobby, Cindy, Peter". That way when they type "Jan" and drag the fill handle, instead of months they get the Brady kids!
I Love the way you nailed it in all your videos. Thankkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk You Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love all the default Settings... Thanks Leila, big fan of yours... just waiting for the leading zero option in my excel...I love the Pivot setting and its very useful for me :)
The vast majority of the data we import from various wearhouses uses non-calculating numbers or numbers as text. Years ago the merging of two legacy systems (and poor planning) created a unique issue. item "0001" is a different items than item "1". Having excel keep all of the leading zeros by default is a game changer for us. Thank you!
Wow, a program actually allow USERS to decide what they want entered instead of insisting they are the world's foremost authority on everything. What a concept!
Hello Leila - I'm so glad after finding your videos online. You're doing a great job and your videos are fantastic. I'm a Microsoft old lover but never had a chance to explore Excel useful features but after watching all your videos I'm fan of you and the Excel. I would like to know if you have any course outline or a package to prepare ourselves for MO-201 exam. Please advise? Thanks, Abrar J.
Cool. Thanks... you have a non-native english speaker in your suscribers. This help me in two ways, practices my english and... learn some usefull tech tips. It is a very good experience that I have seen your videos.

I like 05:03 Pivot Table Settings the most. Really useful way of saving a bit of time if you're using pivot tables often!
I agree 💯. Thank you Leila.
Yes you are right
I only wish you could also specify the default number format for the values.

We all know that you are amazing when it comes to excel and stuff, but I want to tell you, your humor is top tier also.

Thanks! The setting with "Enter" and open screen is really helpful! Really simple settings, but probably most powerful ones!
Great to hear!
So glad to have stopped by to learn about the Pivot Table Settings. Building a dozen or more Pivot Tables daily and all those [groan] annoying changes from the default wasted a lot of time over the years. No more!

I was going to say this too. So if you create an AutoCorrect entry in another Office app it will be in Excel too! Sharing is caring!
Loved the pivot table advice
Same!
My favorite!
