Hi Leila, Thanks a ton for your useful videos! The most common Excel short cut key I use is Ctrl+D. If I am in a particular cell it just copies the value of the corresponding column cell in the row above it. It applies to formulae too. I use this along with Ctrl+Space to copy formulae for all cells of the row above current row..
Ctrl+Shift+End highlights to the last data element in a sheet. I like this one because it does not stop at cells that are blank but have data below and to the right that are not captured by Ctrl+Shift+down arrow and Ctrl+Shift+right arrow.

Hi Leila.. great summary of useful keyboard shortcuts. You might want to add.. to unhide hidden rows CTRL+SHIFT+9 and unhide hidden columns CTRL+SHIFT+0. Also, if you want to group instead of hide, use SHIFT+ALT+RIGHT ARROW (to group) and LEFT ARROW (to ungroup). Another good keyboard is ALT+Q to jump to the Tell Me or Search field to quickly query EXCEL for help. I use these every day. Thanks for sharing and thumbs up!
Thanks.. a couple more I use: ALT+PAGE DOWN OR PAGE UP to move a full screen right or left; ALT+; to copy just the visible cells from a highlighted range that includes hidden or filtered rows or columns.. can also be used as a quick way to see if rows or columns are hidden via the thick double line that shows on the screen when selected; CLTL+C to copy and CTRL+ALT+V to bring up the Paste Special dialog.. then V, ENTER (or any other accelerator key for different paste special options) and ESC to complete the paste and deactivate the dancing ants. The list goes on.. CTRL+D and CTRL+R to copy contents directly above or directly to the left of the current cell; F5 or CTRL+G for the Go To dialog, etc... I love keyboard shortcuts and succession key sequences.. so much faster and more efficient than using the mouse, once learned and trained into the brain. Looking forward to your follow up. Thumbs up!

Some great shortcuts, and I didn't know the one for highlighting the numerical constants at the end. I shall practice that one! I have been called the Queen of Excel or the Excel God so many times when I have a colleague see me use Excel. I consider myself a pro. I've been teaching my spouse Excel for the last few days, and pulled up these videos to help him learn more. I learned a new shortcut from the video, and a few from the comments, too!! Thanks so much!! You're amazing!!
I too like this shortcut Because excel automatically shows up this shortcut by pressing alt key. Alt+H->home Alt+H+V->paste Alt+H+V+V-> paste as values
Some of my other favorites are Ctrl ~ = switches to a view to show formulas in text. Can toggle off and on Alt E S T, or Alt E S F (or for transpose, multiply, etc) Not specific to excel but the windows key + arrow keys is amazing with multiple or large monitors to move your windows around and split screen Shift F9 same as F9 but only on the current tab. Big help in large data files
Awesome lecture as always! I prefer Alt, H, V, V instead of Alt, E, S, V (you gotta press enter or click ok after that cause it's a button choice). I guess it's stuck in my brain from months of usage, even though ES is shorter than HVS when you need a special not on the main menu, but I can't get myself to use it. So I use HVV for paste values (you can do HVSV enter or ESV enter), HVW column widths (you can do HVSW enter or ESW enter), HVF formulas (you can do HVSF enter or ESF enter), HVR formats (you can do HVST enter or EST enter). To be completely honest I am trying to incorporate HVF and HVR instead of HVSF enter and HVST enter but like I said it's not leaving my head. Hope I've helped somebody. Also absolutely love Shift+Ctrl+L for filters, Ctrl+E flash fill magic and Shift+Space/Control+Space for the selection (didn't know those last 3, ty!). For insert row I use Alt, I, R, or Alt, I, C for columns. But yours is just fine, in fact it's better since there's no equivalent for deleting them in my solution. Gonna have to learn those! Also I love F4 in all of its uses. The bonus just blew my mind...
Alt+M,D to quickly trace dependents (nice in combination with Ctrl+[ and F5 mentioned below). Ctrl+tilde to toggle formula view on or off. Shift+F10 for a context-sensitive right-click, opening up lots of possibilities with context menus.
@Leila Gharani You've taught me the fundamentals of MS Office much better than anyone else. I'm constantly working with all these platforms, but hardly knew the tricks to use it efficiently. Thanks a million 🙏🙏🙏
Not only blanks, if we have different any nunber in Bold will also be a block for auto sum. In case you have subtotals - auto sum helps us in totaling only sub totals :)
@@satyavijay4913 Good points. Somewhat related though not a shortcut... Leila has a great video on =AGGREGATE() function and =SUBTOTAL(). I've been using the latter for years but just learned about the former, much more powerful function recently.
Highlight a dataset and press Ctrl + . This is go through all the four corner values of the data set turn by turn. This is especially important to check if the formula and references are correctly captured.
Great tips, thanks. An additional, the recently added right-click menu shortcut on keyboards is very useful in Excel. Alt+E+S+V is like right-click (keyboard) then V.
This is a very informative video, I highly recommend it. Most of the short cut keys work . But some shortcut keys of my excel are different. For example, in my excel, the shortcut key of the autosum is "Command+Shift+T". You may need to check your shortcut key or customize one in your excel under "Tools"→"Customize Keyboard".
Ctrl-D to fill down, F2 to edit active cell, and F12 to save as... are among my most used shortcuts not mentioned in this video. Personally I find the old versions far superior for the ease of discovering keyboard shortcuts. The loathsome ribbon interface in 2007 onward hides the handy Alt key menus (unless you had already memorized them from running older versions, which is why the dropdown menus were already better in the first place.) Excel 5.0 inside of Office 4.3 also allows you to revert the menus to the Excel 4.0 format and back, which makes some repetitive keyboard shortcuts even faster.
Agreed on the ribbon mess. Microsoft started downhill when they decided users needed to see enormous images and banners and grey bars that take up a third of the screen. Removing and minimizing them is a temporary fix. Now, Teams is a nightmare of trash that forces the shared images to be less than half the screen.
@@TrilobitesRTasty And it gets even worse for those of us with vision problems who need lower screen resolutions. The ribbon mess just takes up way too much of the screen at low resolutions.
@@DavidWonn YES! I'm an old guy...and the so-called "Accessibility Settings" that Microsoft creates are unusable. So it is with monopoly power. They have dominance over the desktop, so no longer have to provide good products.
Both of my retinae detached, so I prefer the zooming capabilities on my tablet over the accessibility features on newer PCs. One of the reasons is that over time, Microsoft gradually removed support for lower resolutions. This makes me gravitate to my ancient IBM PS/2, which allows me to run it in a sub-VGA resolution at 640*400 on Windows NT 3.51.
@@DavidWonn Ouch. I have a history of retinal detachment in my family. For now, I just keep buying bigger monitors. At least the price of those is dropping (mostly).
Shift+cmd+v - when you want to past only formatting, without affecting values in the destination cell. for special pasting - I use always contol+cmd+v and then select what i need to paste
U can see some poops in some public place right These kind of people like that they cnnt appreciate something good And they cnnt do also something good
Alt + d + f + s to remove filter when there is a larger column sheet of filter so we dont know exactly were the filter is and one great feature of this shortcut is that it doesnt remove the filter entirely instead it clear the filters we had put earlier.
I really enjoy your videos.....Excel is something with infinite possibilities.... My fav and an addition to the 1st tip (Ctlr + Shift + L) is related to a table with filters: Use "Alt + down arrow" at the filter location. This enables / opens up the drop down menu where one can select whichever they want. Hope this helps. :)

So I use HVV for paste values (you can do HVSV enter or ESV enter),
HVW column widths (you can do HVSW enter or ESW enter),
HVF formulas (you can do HVSF enter or ESF enter),
HVR formats (you can do HVST enter or EST enter).
Another one for Alt, E, S, V is Ctrl (to bring up the quick paste menu), v (to select paste as values) for pasting values
menukey + v is also nice for pasting values, only if your right hand is free
You are a genius! You made my life easy and an easy Christmas 2021. Be blessed.
Ctrl+tilda, squiggly key below Escape key, shows the formulas behind the value.
Great video by the way!
F2 will do.
@@BulkCarrierChiefMate try it once and u can feel the difference
I like your tutorial very much. These shortcuts has definitely increased my efficiency with Excel. Thank you very much.
Great to hear, Luis!
Ctrl + k to create a hyperlink
Ctrl + u to expand the formula bar
Ctrl+Shift+U to expand the formulebar
I am really enjoying this channel. Your videos have been a great help.
I'm glad to hear that :)
Ma’am, you just saved my professional life. Thank you very much!
My pleasure Karim. Glad it's helpful.
I like your teaching
You have good technique and amazing for me
Thanks a lot Leila, one shortcut I learnt is ALt+W+F+R to freeze the top row
Alt+M,D to quickly trace dependents (nice in combination with Ctrl+[ and F5 mentioned below). Ctrl+tilde to toggle formula view on or off.
Shift+F10 for a context-sensitive right-click, opening up lots of possibilities with context menus.
@Leila Gharani You've taught me the fundamentals of MS Office much better than anyone else. I'm constantly working with all these platforms, but hardly knew the tricks to use it efficiently.
Thanks a million 🙏🙏🙏
*Ctrl +1* and *Ctrl+E* are awesome, Thanks
Careful with the Autosum if there are any blank cells in the column or row.
I've been using the latter for years but just learned about the former, much more powerful function recently.
thank you. excellent teaching
Highlight a dataset and press Ctrl + . This is go through all the four corner values of the data set turn by turn. This is especially important to check if the formula and references are correctly captured.
Use this all the time. Love this for large ranges. Very fast way to verify the correct selected range.
This was so helpful. One I definitely didn't know of was "Flash Fill." Thank you for sharing the information in a very easy-to-follow video!
you can find it here

Great tips, thanks. An additional, the recently added right-click menu shortcut on keyboards is very useful in Excel. Alt+E+S+V is like right-click (keyboard) then V.
Your teaching is awesome all steps are clear to us ..
I'm very happy to hear this Haseeb!
Happy viewing to everyone. This tutorial is awesome.
Ctrl-D to fill down, F2 to edit active cell, and F12 to save as... are among my most used shortcuts not mentioned in this video.
Personally I find the old versions far superior for the ease of discovering keyboard shortcuts. The loathsome ribbon interface in 2007 onward hides the handy Alt key menus (unless you had already memorized them from running older versions, which is why the dropdown menus were already better in the first place.)
Excel 5.0 inside of Office 4.3 also allows you to revert the menus to the Excel 4.0 format and back, which makes some repetitive keyboard shortcuts even faster.
I wanna say you're the best, These tips really helps a lot!!! :)
That's a flash fill MAGIC!
Brilliant! Some very useful shortcuts there. Thanks Leila!
Great! I'm glad the tutorial is helpful Steve.
Leila, I will be sharing all this lot with my team next week! 😊
Clear Filter (NOT Remove) = ALT + A + C
Unhide Row: CTRL + SHIFT + 9
Unhide Column: ALT + O + C + U
I love the way you talk
Shift+cmd+v - when you want to past only formatting, without affecting values in the destination cell.
for special pasting - I use always contol+cmd+v and then select what i need to paste
Which is cmd button on keyboard
Thanks, Leila it was really great learning.
F5 Alt+S,O,X really blew my socks off!!!
I am just half way through the video and I realise this is so useful and that too for free :)
thank you I m really grateful.
Glad it was helpful!
Just wondering why someone will thumb down on an awesome video like this.
Haters
Dumb people and there is plenty of those
Because they are morons.
They are stupid

These kind of people like that they cnnt appreciate something good
And they cnnt do also something good
When I watch this video. It so helpful to me. It's bit comfortable and progressing short cuts for everyone..it must learn
Paste Special box shortcut
Ctrl+Alt+V
Rohit Jain That is the shortcut that most colleagues ask me about: “How did you do that?!”
Oh good, that one is fairly easy to remember too!
The best one is menu key + V
I prefer Ctrl+V to paste and then ctrl followed by V to select paste values or Ctrl then M to paste unfromated text
Thank you Leila for the video, awesome. I Wana ask what is the tool you use to make your videos?
Thank you Leila! I'm learning a lot :) God bless!

Hello, I've seen many of your videos and find them to be very helpful.
Alt + d + f + s to remove filter when there is a larger column sheet of filter so we dont know exactly were the filter is and one great feature of this shortcut is that it doesnt remove the filter entirely instead it clear the filters we had put earlier.
Alt+A+t
I really enjoy your videos.....Excel is something with infinite possibilities....
My fav and an addition to the 1st tip (Ctlr + Shift + L) is related to a table with filters:
Use "Alt + down arrow" at the filter location.
This enables / opens up the drop down menu where one can select whichever they want.
Hope this helps. :)
wow. nearly every one of those was a revelation! and I've considered myself a pretty solid Excel user....for the past 30 years!
That's great. Now you have a few more things in your toolbox that will hopefully help going forward.
