Been using these options frequently. Thank you Leila for the valuable inputs.
Thanks for the video. I would like to add 3 more to the list Ctrl + D/R - Copy the value/formula to adjacent cells down/right Ctrl page up/down - for navigating through sheets F2 - will let you edit the formula from the cell itself

My two favorite shortcuts I've learned in the past few years are: cntrl [ in a cell with a formula linked to another cell (could be a cell on a different tab or file) and it will take you directly to it. Then to get back the shortcut is F5 Enter. These are my favorite shortcuts and I never see these on shortcut lists. Great video overall as usual!
I've just found you today, while I was seeking for some help for my Excel for work and I am obsessed with your videos. You are so incredible! Thank you so much for everything you show us!
Hi Leila, Thanks a ton for your useful videos! The most common Excel short cut key I use is Ctrl+D. If I am in a particular cell it just copies the value of the corresponding column cell in the row above it. It applies to formulae too. I use this along with Ctrl+Space to copy formulae for all cells of the row above current row..
Very informative indeed!!.. Probably the most needy part of Excel has been covered here to be a master of key strokes. Sharing 2 shortcuts i use alternately to insert row & columns. Add Row - Alt + I + R Add Column - Alt + I + C Keep shining..👏👏
I have been called the Queen of Excel or the Excel God so many times when I have a colleague see me use Excel. I consider myself a pro. I've been teaching my spouse Excel for the last few days, and pulled up these videos to help him learn more. I learned a new shortcut from the video, and a few from the comments, too!! Thanks so much!! You're amazing!!
Ctrl+Shift+End highlights to the last data element in a sheet. I like this one because it does not stop at cells that are blank but have data below and to the right that are not captured by Ctrl+Shift+down arrow and Ctrl+Shift+right arrow.
Some great shortcuts, and I didn't know the one for highlighting the numerical constants at the end. I shall practice that one! One of my favourites is an alternative to yours for Copy and Paste Values. The Ctrl key on its own opens Smart Tags, so what I do is this: Select, then copy with Ctrl C Paste as normal with Ctrl V, but then tap and release Ctrl, then V. This opens the Smart Tag and selects the Values option. Other letters select other options in the Smart Tag box, e.g. Ctrl then A gives you Values and number formatting.

Thanks.. a couple more I use: ALT+PAGE DOWN OR PAGE UP to move a full screen right or left; ALT+; to copy just the visible cells from a highlighted range that includes hidden or filtered rows or columns.. can also be used as a quick way to see if rows or columns are hidden via the thick double line that shows on the screen when selected; CLTL+C to copy and CTRL+ALT+V to bring up the Paste Special dialog.. then V, ENTER (or any other accelerator key for different paste special options) and ESC to complete the paste and deactivate the dancing ants. The list goes on.. CTRL+D and CTRL+R to copy contents directly above or directly to the left of the current cell; F5 or CTRL+G for the Go To dialog, etc... I love keyboard shortcuts and succession key sequences.. so much faster and more efficient than using the mouse, once learned and trained into the brain. Looking forward to your follow up. Thumbs up!

Awesome lecture as always! I prefer Alt, H, V, V instead of Alt, E, S, V (you gotta press enter or click ok after that cause it's a button choice). I guess it's stuck in my brain from months of usage, even though ES is shorter than HVS when you need a special not on the main menu, but I can't get myself to use it. So I use HVV for paste values (you can do HVSV enter or ESV enter), HVW column widths (you can do HVSW enter or ESW enter), HVF formulas (you can do HVSF enter or ESF enter), HVR formats (you can do HVST enter or EST enter). To be completely honest I am trying to incorporate HVF and HVR instead of HVSF enter and HVST enter but like I said it's not leaving my head. Hope I've helped somebody. Also absolutely love Shift+Ctrl+L for filters, Ctrl+E flash fill magic and Shift+Space/Control+Space for the selection (didn't know those last 3, ty!). For insert row I use Alt, I, R, or Alt, I, C for columns. But yours is just fine, in fact it's better since there's no equivalent for deleting them in my solution. Gonna have to learn those! Also I love F4 in all of its uses. The bonus just blew my mind...
As a totally blind person using screen reading software, I have learned several hot key commands. That is how I learned to use the software. Thank you for this video and for adding a few I didn't know. You're doing a great job.
This is a very informative video, I highly recommend it. Most of the short cut keys work . But some shortcut keys of my excel are different. For example, in my excel, the shortcut key of the autosum is "Command+Shift+T". You may need to check your shortcut key or customize one in your excel under "Tools"→"Customize Keyboard".
Great video Leila! 2 usefull ones :) Select only visible cells from a selection: Alt + ; (semicolon) Drop down list without duplicates without validation nor asigning name : Alt + down arrow (cells on the same column, works with tables o raw data range) PD: Paste Special box short shortcut: Alt Gr + V
I really enjoy your videos.....Excel is something with infinite possibilities.... My fav and an addition to the 1st tip (Ctlr + Shift + L) is related to a table with filters: Use "Alt + down arrow" at the filter location. This enables / opens up the drop down menu where one can select whichever they want. Hope this helps. :)
Some of my other favorites are Ctrl ~ = switches to a view to show formulas in text. Can toggle off and on Alt E S T, or Alt E S F (or for transpose, multiply, etc) Not specific to excel but the windows key + arrow keys is amazing with multiple or large monitors to move your windows around and split screen Shift F9 same as F9 but only on the current tab. Big help in large data files
Hi Leila! Paste as values. Select a cell, put cursor to the boundary of the cell, right click and drag to destination cell, leave right button, select paste values. Following you in Skillshare!
I too like this shortcut Because excel automatically shows up this shortcut by pressing alt key. Alt+H->home Alt+H+V->paste Alt+H+V+V-> paste as values
Alt+M,D to quickly trace dependents (nice in combination with Ctrl+[ and F5 mentioned below). Ctrl+tilde to toggle formula view on or off. Shift+F10 for a context-sensitive right-click, opening up lots of possibilities with context menus.
Alt + = F5, Alt s. Is new to me... Your videos are really awesome and advanced, I get always something new every time I watche a video of yours even about known topic.
Highlight a dataset and press Ctrl + . This is go through all the four corner values of the data set turn by turn. This is especially important to check if the formula and references are correctly captured.
Shift+cmd+v - when you want to past only formatting, without affecting values in the destination cell. for special pasting - I use always contol+cmd+v and then select what i need to paste
Some shortcuts I learned recently that I now use all the time: (1) select a range of cells with values in the first row and hit ctrl-D to copy down all the formulas; (2) to copy the value in the cell above the selected one, just hit ctrl-' (apostrophe). I use ctrl-; and ctrl-: (date and time) a lot. I'm going to try to remember the row and column insert and delete shortcuts and try out the instant chart key Alt-F1. Thanks for this very useful content!
Thank you so much. Leila. Excellent presentation skills and delivered at a good pace. I train professionals for a living and it was great to see content set out, both logically and without any unnecessary waffle. A life saver !as I needed to check-in with my 'sleepy' Excel skills . Will be following your other videos.
Ctrl-D to fill down, F2 to edit active cell, and F12 to save as... are among my most used shortcuts not mentioned in this video. Personally I find the old versions far superior for the ease of discovering keyboard shortcuts. The loathsome ribbon interface in 2007 onward hides the handy Alt key menus (unless you had already memorized them from running older versions, which is why the dropdown menus were already better in the first place.) Excel 5.0 inside of Office 4.3 also allows you to revert the menus to the Excel 4.0 format and back, which makes some repetitive keyboard shortcuts even faster.
Agreed on the ribbon mess. Microsoft started downhill when they decided users needed to see enormous images and banners and grey bars that take up a third of the screen. Removing and minimizing them is a temporary fix. Now, Teams is a nightmare of trash that forces the shared images to be less than half the screen.
@@TrilobitesRTasty And it gets even worse for those of us with vision problems who need lower screen resolutions. The ribbon mess just takes up way too much of the screen at low resolutions.
@@DavidWonn YES! I'm an old guy...and the so-called "Accessibility Settings" that Microsoft creates are unusable. So it is with monopoly power. They have dominance over the desktop, so no longer have to provide good products.
Both of my retinae detached, so I prefer the zooming capabilities on my tablet over the accessibility features on newer PCs. One of the reasons is that over time, Microsoft gradually removed support for lower resolutions. This makes me gravitate to my ancient IBM PS/2, which allows me to run it in a sub-VGA resolution at 640*400 on Windows NT 3.51.
@@DavidWonn Ouch. I have a history of retinal detachment in my family. For now, I just keep buying bigger monitors. At least the price of those is dropping (mostly).
@Leila Gharani You've taught me the fundamentals of MS Office much better than anyone else. I'm constantly working with all these platforms, but hardly knew the tricks to use it efficiently. Thanks a million 🙏🙏🙏
Great tips, thanks. An additional, the recently added right-click menu shortcut on keyboards is very useful in Excel. Alt+E+S+V is like right-click (keyboard) then V.
Not only blanks, if we have different any nunber in Bold will also be a block for auto sum. In case you have subtotals - auto sum helps us in totaling only sub totals :)
@@satyavijay4913 Good points. Somewhat related though not a shortcut... Leila has a great video on =AGGREGATE() function and =SUBTOTAL(). I've been using the latter for years but just learned about the former, much more powerful function recently.

Hi Leila, thats an excellent video, I must say. A lot of learning and this video is worth watching. I just have one small query regarding Shortcut # 19 Check for hidden Cells. I hide first column of my data set, and when i press Alt + : its not giving me an indication whether something is hidden or not. however for other columns, it is working fine. Similarly, for the top most row, its the same. I hope you understood my query. anyways thanks a lot for such an informative video.
Hi Leila, I have some new Excel Shortcuts for you! Shortcut Description [Ctrl] [Enter] Stay in the same cell after typing [Alt] [Shift] & From the input cell - selects all the formula cells that contain the output cell [Alt] [Shift] / From the formula cell - selects all the cells that are included in the formula [Alt] [Shift] $ From the formula cell - selects all the formulas cells that are included in the formula These are some Shortcuts that I find very useful in editing and checking my formulas!
I like to add more - Insert New Sheet - Shift + f11 Delete Sheet - Alt + H + D + S Open Name manager Dialogue Box - Ctrl + f3 Remove formatting - Select All Cell - Press - Alt + H + E + A One bonus which is very Important and frequently used option - Open Data Validation - Alt + D + L I hope this gonna work for All
I’ve learnt more new ones from the comments section than the video itself! My additions would be: Alt + down arrow on a filter cell and alt+ space bar to select and unselect filtered texts
Nice. One I use all the time, - When in edit mode with cursor on a cell reference (like when entering formulas), the "F4" key changes the reference between all of the relative and absolute variations. Beats the heck out of typing in dollar signs.
Alt + d + f + s to remove filter when there is a larger column sheet of filter so we dont know exactly were the filter is and one great feature of this shortcut is that it doesnt remove the filter entirely instead it clear the filters we had put earlier.
Wow ma habibi! One time, a girl told me "You're so Smart" because I made a program in VBA with Excel, When I saw your video, Im like... I cant believe I never knew all this... You have given me more knowledge! Blessings Leila👩💻...
I want to say thank you for this useful video! Even if i have work with excel for more than ten years, i don't know all these shortcut! Thank you at all.
Shift+F10+V is a shorter way to Paste Values. Shift+F10 brings up the right click menu. You can then also use this to paste formatting (+R) or formulas (+F)
@@viksin1998 Thank you ! One quick edit, if I may respectfully, you need to select both the initial highlighted cell and the unhighlighted one below, and THEN go to format painter, control, shift, down. It will highlight then every other cell.
Slightly faster if using macros, if you need to do this often: Put the below into your personal file, then assign the macro a shortcut of control-shift-V, or whatever shortcut you like. Sub PasteSpecialValues() 'shortcut ctrl-shift-V (paste values) Application.DisplayAlerts = False: On Error Resume Next: Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues: Application.DisplayAlerts = True: End Sub
Assign "Paste Value" to Quick Access Toolbar and then you only have to press Alt + 4 (or 5 or 6 or... depending on personalization). Only 2 buttons - it's the fastest...
U can see some poops in some public place right These kind of people like that they cnnt appreciate something good And they cnnt do also something good

Use Alt + : to select only visible cells and not select the hidden cells. This works very well for me. Especially when I want to copy paste only the visible data. Hope this helps the tribe here :)
thank you for your sharing. to convert formula to resulat i just hit 3 keys: F2 then F9 then Enter . then the formula is gone because it's converted to value. all the best . thank you.

Uppercase I or lower case l?
@@cl8wnm5n it doesn’t matter
Glad you posted this, these are the ones I use 😀
I'm using "Alt W F F" for freezing columns and rows which is very useful for me
Very useful alt w f f
I use Alt DFF
Awesome lecture as always! I prefer Alt, H, V, V instead of Alt, E, S, V (you gotta press enter or click ok after that cause it's a button choice).
I guess it's stuck in my brain from months of usage, even though ES is shorter than HVS when you need a special not on the main menu, but I can't get myself to use it.
So I use HVV for paste values (you can do HVSV enter or ESV enter),
HVW column widths (you can do HVSW enter or ESW enter),
HVF formulas (you can do HVSF enter or ESF enter),
HVR formats (you can do HVST enter or EST enter).
Another one for Alt, E, S, V is Ctrl (to bring up the quick paste menu), v (to select paste as values) for pasting values
menukey + v is also nice for pasting values, only if your right hand is free
As a totally blind person using screen reading software, I have learned several hot key commands. That is how I learned to use the software. Thank you for this video and for adding a few I didn't know. You're doing a great job.
Thank you! I'm so glad it's helpful for you.
F4 to repeat last action
F4 in formula to change relative/absolute reference
F4 is my favorite.
Repetition command in word
F4
Alt enter
Control Y
Alt+N+V Pivot tables/ Ctrl+T Excel tables / Alt+D+F+F enable & disable filters / F4 absolute & relative reference / Ctrl+F1 hide and unhide Excel Ribon/ Ctrl+[ to go to the linked cell & F5+enter to return back. Beautiful video!!
Great! Thank you for sharing :)
2 usefull ones :)
Select only visible cells from a selection: Alt + ; (semicolon)
Drop down list without duplicates without validation nor asigning name : Alt + down arrow (cells on the same column, works with tables o raw data range)
PD: Paste Special box short shortcut: Alt Gr + V
I'm glad you found something useful Thomas.
Her voice is awesome, i can improve my communication by listening to her

I really enjoy your videos.....Excel is something with infinite possibilities....
My fav and an addition to the 1st tip (Ctlr + Shift + L) is related to a table with filters:
Use "Alt + down arrow" at the filter location.
This enables / opens up the drop down menu where one can select whichever they want.
Hope this helps. :)
Ctrl+tilda, squiggly key below Escape key, shows the formulas behind the value.
Great video by the way!
F2 will do.
@@BulkCarrierChiefMate try it once and u can feel the difference
You are the best excel guru on the entire Internet, love your videos and the knowledge you share! Thank you!
Some of my other favorites are
Ctrl ~ = switches to a view to show formulas in text. Can toggle off and on
Alt E S T, or Alt E S F (or for transpose, multiply, etc)
Not specific to excel but the windows key + arrow keys is amazing with multiple or large monitors to move your windows around and split screen
Shift F9 same as F9 but only on the current tab. Big help in large data files
Hi Leila! Paste as values. Select a cell, put cursor to the boundary of the cell, right click and drag to destination cell, leave right button, select paste values. Following you in Skillshare!
To paste as values,
I like to use the short cut
Alt+H+V+V
Easier to remember and quicker to insert
I too like this shortcut
Because excel automatically shows up this shortcut by pressing alt key.
Alt+H->home
Alt+H+V->paste
Alt+H+V+V-> paste as values
Really useful. Just want to add one of mine, Ctr + ~ to show all the formulas in the sheet and same to hide.
Alt+M,D to quickly trace dependents (nice in combination with Ctrl+[ and F5 mentioned below). Ctrl+tilde to toggle formula view on or off.
Shift+F10 for a context-sensitive right-click, opening up lots of possibilities with context menus.
Alt + =
F5, Alt s. Is new to me...
Your videos are really awesome and advanced, I get always something new every time I watche a video of yours even about known topic.
Great to hear!
Highlight a dataset and press Ctrl + . This is go through all the four corner values of the data set turn by turn. This is especially important to check if the formula and references are correctly captured.
Use this all the time. Love this for large ranges. Very fast way to verify the correct selected range.
Shift+cmd+v - when you want to past only formatting, without affecting values in the destination cell.
for special pasting - I use always contol+cmd+v and then select what i need to paste
Which is cmd button on keyboard
You're my best teacher in excel
Thanks a lot Leila, one shortcut I learnt is ALt+W+F+R to freeze the top row
Ctrl-D to fill down, F2 to edit active cell, and F12 to save as... are among my most used shortcuts not mentioned in this video.
Personally I find the old versions far superior for the ease of discovering keyboard shortcuts. The loathsome ribbon interface in 2007 onward hides the handy Alt key menus (unless you had already memorized them from running older versions, which is why the dropdown menus were already better in the first place.)
Excel 5.0 inside of Office 4.3 also allows you to revert the menus to the Excel 4.0 format and back, which makes some repetitive keyboard shortcuts even faster.
Wow! Highlight constant is something which I was not aware at all! thank you so much!!!
Awesome lecture! It would be really helpful for the ppl working in actual field.
Your videos are awesome. Been using Excel for several years but still learn things from you that I never knew and they make life easier. Thank you!
Glad to help!
*Ctrl +1* and *Ctrl+E* are awesome, Thanks
Careful with the Autosum if there are any blank cells in the column or row.
This was so helpful. One I definitely didn't know of was "Flash Fill." Thank you for sharing the information in a very easy-to-follow video!

Hi Leila, thats an excellent video, I must say. A lot of learning and this video is worth watching. I just have one small query regarding Shortcut # 19 Check for hidden Cells.
I hide first column of my data set, and when i press Alt + :
its not giving me an indication whether something is hidden or not. however for other columns, it is working fine. Similarly, for the top most row, its the same.
I hope you understood my query.
anyways thanks a lot for such an informative video.
Clear Filter (NOT Remove) = ALT + A + C
Unhide Row: CTRL + SHIFT + 9
Unhide Column: ALT + O + C + U
Hi Leila,
I have some new Excel Shortcuts for you!
Shortcut Description
[Ctrl] [Enter] Stay in the same cell after typing
[Alt] [Shift] & From the input cell - selects all the formula cells that contain the output cell
[Alt] [Shift] / From the formula cell - selects all the cells that are included in the formula
[Alt] [Shift] $ From the formula cell - selects all the formulas cells that are included in the formula
These are some Shortcuts that I find very useful in editing and checking my formulas!
Ctrl + k to create a hyperlink
Ctrl + u to expand the formula bar
Ctrl+Shift+U to expand the formulebar
I like to add more - Insert New Sheet - Shift + f11
Delete Sheet - Alt + H + D + S
Open Name manager Dialogue Box - Ctrl + f3
Remove formatting - Select All Cell - Press - Alt + H + E + A
One bonus which is very Important and frequently used option - Open Data Validation - Alt + D + L
I hope this gonna work for All
Thank you very much for all the short cut tricks. You are awesome!
I’ve learnt more new ones from the comments section than the video itself!
My additions would be:
Alt + down arrow on a filter cell and alt+ space bar to select and unselect filtered texts
I wish I'd found this years ago! Love from Brazil.
Nice.
One I use all the time, - When in edit mode with cursor on a cell reference (like when entering formulas), the "F4" key changes the reference between all of the relative and absolute variations. Beats the heck out of typing in dollar signs.
This really saves time and hassle. Thanks James.
Alt + d + f + s to remove filter when there is a larger column sheet of filter so we dont know exactly were the filter is and one great feature of this shortcut is that it doesnt remove the filter entirely instead it clear the filters we had put earlier.
Alt+A+t

You have good technique and amazing for me
Wish I would have seen this before I retired. I could have used this nearly daily! Love your tips. Thanks for sharing.
Shift+F10+V is a shorter way to Paste Values. Shift+F10 brings up the right click menu. You can then also use this to paste formatting (+R) or formulas (+F)
Ctrl+Alt+v directly opens the Paste special dialog box. You can then press V for values only, E to transpose the data, and so on

Many thanks for the kind words!

FANTASTIC TIPS!!
Is there a fast way to highlight a color to every other row of data?
You can try format painter. Select the data row where the color is set. Select format painter and ctrl +shift + down arrow key. Works for me.
@@viksin1998 Thank you !
One quick edit, if I may respectfully, you need to select both the initial highlighted cell and the unhighlighted one below, and THEN go to format painter, control, shift, down.
It will highlight then every other cell.
For paste as value: you can use ctrl C and then ctrl V and again Ctrl and after press V. My favourite and fastest.
Slightly faster if using macros, if you need to do this often:
Put the below into your personal file, then assign the macro a shortcut of control-shift-V, or whatever shortcut you like.
Sub PasteSpecialValues() 'shortcut ctrl-shift-V (paste values)
Application.DisplayAlerts = False: On Error Resume Next: Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues: Application.DisplayAlerts = True: End Sub
Assign "Paste Value" to Quick Access Toolbar and then you only have to press Alt + 4 (or 5 or 6 or... depending on personalization). Only 2 buttons - it's the fastest...
Easiest is ctrl C then you right click on the cell and press v

1. Use Ctrl+R to copy in horizonal on the right side.

Thanks. Ctrl+] and Ctrl+[ to find related cells.
Amazing video... helped me revise well. Thnx. The other common formula we used was alt+ h+ n or select any colour to add colour
Ctrl + * (the star/ multiply sign) selects all of the data - even if there are empty spaces or gaps
I think the same results are accomplished by using Ctrl + A but I might be missing something.
I love to see you speaking in a great style.

Alt Pg up - move column wise left

Select column then Shift -(minus)
Then select another column then again Shift -
