Leila, great video as always. I have to say however, you may be one of the world's top Excel resources and no doubt you love what you do, but you are missing your true calling. Comedy! The timing first on the "woah, wait" bit and then the coffee sip was just comedic genius! 🤣
ahhh thank you! When I first read the "but," I thought you were going to say, "but why do you have to tease IT again?" 😉 It was nice surprise. I always liked acting, but I have no talent. But everything can be learnt.
I agree! When she said “woah, wait!” I thought “oh, she’s gonna cheat the 90 second limit by explaining a bunch of stuff before the timer starts, and she didn’t. And when the timer actually started, while all viewers are watching like “how is she going to do this?!” with our eyes wide open, she used up more than 10 seconds for sipping coffee 😂 That was awesome!!! Love this excel trick too. I use Power BI for reporting a lot, but there are some users who prefer excel. I love both. And I cannot wait to use this technique to make my users go “Wow!”
@@LeilaGharani Sorry for the late reply, I don't have notifications on. I actually think you definitely have acting talent. If you have a passion for it then you should definitely explore that side of you. But please don't forget us lowly Excel and Power BI users pretty please, we still need your expertise! 😂
Great video! But unless I missed it, there was no explanation of what you did in the part about scaling numbers back when you are presenting large numbers? Was it just to divide the larger number by a large number to get the rept function to show less? And how did the bars accommodate the text added like "VIP campaign" and "announcement"?
I didn't buy the course but i'd imagine that she used a monotype font (all characters have the same width) and then she just subtracted the length of the text from the repetition multiplicator. For the scaling you would divide the value of the row by the max of the data column and multiply it by the chosen length. So the largest number is divided by itself (=1) which results in 1* chosen length. So a bar that has half of the max value would result in 0.5 * chosen length. Edit: Font it probably "Hack" Edit2: No it's not, the dot at the end doesn't align. But it is close.
I used “Consolas” font and the same approach and it worked. Dumb question though, how I go about the conditional formatting to highlight the row with highest value. Thanks. Figured the conditional formatting part too.
I see it differently. I figure out we always limited only by imagination. Now she gave me an idea, I will go figure it myself. Excellent idea about scaling. In fact excellent way of visualisation I had never thought of.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I get the comment part, you just count characters and subtract but I’m a bit confused on the scaling. I’m imagining you divide everything by the largest value then scale that.
