Controllers are easy to break especially if you are careless and drop them on hard wood floors or concrete. A pal of mine had to buy nee co trollers because he dropped his on tile when he was moving stuff around in his house. No one wanted to try and repair it and it cost just as much to attempted get it repaired than buy a new one. He just end up buying a new one
@@The_Keeper that's pretty impossible because, let's say 10 people will have their consoles broken by then, the first thing that they will do is to give them back to Sony in order to replace them, due to the warranty that they have on those.
It's hard to get them broken unless you are a kid lol. Try to keep them clean, no oily fingers or hands and try not to rage and throw it at the floor or drop it. Also PS5 get super dusty from the exhausts or ventilators from the airflow. Dust canister, cotton swaps or micro fiber does the trick.
Well THAT didn't take long, did it? Those controllers are $70 each. I get that these people were probably raging at the time, but geez take care of your stuff. Thanks for the video!

Lots of forums, youtubers and video game journalists IE yOngyea, review techUSA has reports those adaptive haptic triggers are faulty. Some part of it is getting dislodged. I’m waiting for your video on that Also do you have a video of a complete tear down and reassemble of the console and it’s controllers?!? God would it be perfect if you showed us how we can safely modify these things
I was hoping that you would take the stick from the 2nd controller and put it in the 1st one. now it will bother me to know that there's a dualsense controller with dualshock thumbstick out there.
I have the same dualshock 4 for 5 years. It will have broken at least 20 times and every time I repair it, but in the strangest ways possible hahaha. For example once the charger broke and i couldn't solder it, so I made a hole in the body and put an AA battery compartment in place of the battery. Once to open it I broke the screws that held it closed, so I made some holes and I put some extra big screws to keep it closed. Now it looks like a post war controller hahaha, but i don't want to buy a new one, i like my unique dualshock 4.
For the second controller, couldn't you remove the missing smd components (caps or resistors) off of a working controller, test to see their values so you know what they are? Then you could order those replacements. You're right, the connector looks like a really difficult fix! Looking forward to your revisit video on this one :).
9:18 The right audio channel resistor or something is missing. But you can see the same capacitor and maybe resistor for the left channel below that. Desolder and measure. Or watch the jack pinout and find the left or right channel. Both channel will have the same components on the board.
The real question here is: "What the hell actually happened to those controllers", especially the second one??? It look to possibly have been FORCED into a charging dock for a PS4 controller!!!! Or maybe it was subject to a very strong lateral force on an inserted headphone jack!!! And people complain about their PS5 controllers breaking!!!!???

And you could remove the good component from another controller to measure it, if you don't have the schematic. Or risk in-circuit testing for the value I guess.
For the 2nd controller isnt it possible for you to measure those missing components from a working controller to see the values and order SMD equivalents?
I would have actually used two PS4 sticks for the ps5 controller, because that way the slight shade wont be noticed, and you'd have an extra genuine ps5 stick for another repair.

Can you make a video about the R2 button being loose and how to fix it? I have a problem with my PS5 controller, the R2 is so loose and it would register even if I hardly tap on it. For example when I play a ps4 game (Modern Warfare) I would always accidentally shoot my gun

If they had bought an xbox they would have their xbox one controllers as backups. I have lots of spares. our family was up to 14 xbox one controllers (5 gamers , 3 systems, 7 years of xbox one and everyone wants a custom controller). 6 controllers didn't work. after watching Steves videos, I was able to fix the various issues with the other 6 controllers. thanks Steve! Now we have an army of xbox controllers, haha. 🤷♂️
First controller: rage quit throwing the controller right down from the player's side or a at angle :P Second controller: Someone tried to disconnect the mic off, didnt go well... Edit: Whatever the reason may be... :s it makes you wonder what kind of people got their hands on these controller, I don't have 70 laying around if I have a fit or want to open it up...for whatever reason. My first PS4 controller (OG Dualshock) had horrid drift 6 months in and no one could fix it at the time, second one is 4 years plus and still coming in strong, the rubbers are getting damaged on the sticks but thats it, works just like day one. Same as Pro Controller, working perfectly fine 3 years later, people do need to take care of their stuff.

The PlayStation 5 seems to be a huge disappointment. I've seen more videos of people calling them junk than anything. I've even seen a few catch fire

You could use one of the thumbstick from the 2nd controller to fix the 1st controller. PS4 thumbstick is a bit off colored.

The Dualsense and Dualshock thumbsticks have different textures on them, so that first one is going to feel a bit weird.
