I Bought a RAN OVER PS5 - Can I Fix It? So apparently someone ran over this PS5. I bought it from a seller on eBay to see if I could manage to fix it. It's pretty messed up so the odds aren't great but I still have to try.

What do you think happened to this PS5?
Great video Steve, I like how you always experiment with things. You should do a video on what happens when the Xbox series X overheats.
Probably got run over :)
they don't ship abroad at this time, that's a shame.
I've thought of that but it would be a really short video. Maybe on my TikTok
@@Tronicsfix OK then, how about putting an Xbox one X disk drive into the Xbox series X and see if it will work. They are both 4K ultra Blu-ray, Maybe if you use the same motherboard with a series X, it will except it.
Insane to me how this still sold for 436$. Thats more than brand new digital edition and almost a new disc version.
Well it's insane to me that anyone would pay more than 1/4 the cost for something broken in any context, much less it being so broken that it may not even have any reusable parts.
I love seeing electronics being repaired instead of being thrown out. We need right to repair laws to pass
Agree
You know console availability is bad when a a run-over ps5 is sold for 430$
Some sellers: slightly used, but almost like new!
So true!
Somebody selling a cell phone here in my country (Argentina):
- Cell phone in perfect condition, microphone not working and it doesn't take any signal anymore, but everything else is perfect! :V
Normal signs of usage ;)
@@siruspan had it for 1 day, and don’t want it anymore.
“Brand new just out the box” and directly into traffic
Had a customer bring in a ps5. Told me his wife was so angry at him that she ripped the ps5 from where it rested, went outside, and threw it on the ground. This was when you couldnt find parts for it so I couldn't figure out how to fix it. This reminded me of it.
When I was running my repair business I have several similar to that.
@@Tronicsfix angry spouses and consoles do not mix
@@HumanDelta38 Agreed!
Immediate divorce right there
Someone's gf must have been MAD lmaoo.
I was thinking same 😅
2k did it
Poor guy would never play PS5 again due of stock shortage
if he become a single, that'd REALLY suck! 😏
These are my favorite videos. The worse something is broken the better video it makes. Great for you when something just works, but this is a repair youtube channel, so repairing things is the point. Either way, you still have some parts.
Glad you like them!
It’s the new ps5 Slim.
Ha, ha. Extra slim
PS5 is like a supercar. Even when destroyed, it still costs almost the same as a new one.
Sorry to hear that this one couldn't be fixed. MIssed your videos. Can't wait for more.
More to come!
always great to see your new uploads. also, I can't wait for OLED switch vids.
in 2/3 years you'll have a whole bunch of them needing new screens because OLEDS burn in. ugggg I'll stick with the LCD.
I've got one here but I'm looking for broken ones to make videos about
@@awilliams1701 I saw an earlier review mentioning the possibility of that happening in the first few months, so either way it's gonna be great seeing teardown and fixit videos in the near future.
@@awilliams1701 I've got burn in on my oled phone from watching UA-cam and reading comments.
@@awilliams1701 burn in isnt a issue unless you let it cook on thw same screen. Anyhow id rather cook my screen then cook my eyes with eye strain. Though i dont think ill upgrade from my launch switch cause it works just fine
While I was on vacation some years ago my gameboy advance was in a protective case, and my father accidentally dropped it and we didn't manage to pick up in time that a SUV (loaded with luggage and 5 persons in it) ran over it, the protective case was destroyed, the actual gameboy shell had some stress mark and also some Crack marks, the screen shattered, but when I later tried to power it up, it still worked! And even a small area of the screen still displayed data!
Wow! That's impressive
@@Tronicsfix Indeed, both where shocked that it still worked
@@mrascensoreakakrisgames4149 The SUV got off easy, if that were your parent's Nokia 3310 then it would've made the tire jump in the air and lose control of the steering wheel.
I would love to see what actually led to this Playstation 5 being run over!! Angry girlfriend or maybe a Parent?
I wish I knew the full story on it.
Definitely a Girlfriend losing her mind 😂😂😂
Must've been a Destiny 2 wife 😂😂😂
probably did it for a tiktok video. 🤷♂️
most likely a stupid tik tok or youtube video!
How are they selling for such a high price if it was ran over !! Crazy but great video Steve, really enjoyed it
Well, this one sold for a high price because a UA-cam that's always looking for interesting stories bought it.
Oh yeah I completely understand your reason for purchasing it I’d do the exact same just shocked the seller set that as the starting price given the circumstances but fair enough
@@xS7EzRAGEx It's amazing what sells on eBay these days.
@@Tronicsfix I certainly agree Steve!
You are a great and charismatic guy. Really love your videos whether you manage to fix the products or not.
I appreciate that!
You are hands down my new favorite UA-camr. I enjoy your subtle jokes and "don't do this", but anyways "this is how I do it" mentality. I get old school YT vibes from it, good stuff.
Really appreciate that! Thanks for watching.
Well, at least you've got a bit of a stockpile of PS5 parts for a future video. Thanks for the attempt. It was fun to watch!
My man Steve with a glint in his eye and the look of preparing for battle. Admit it - - you LIVE for this! ;)
Lol. You must've been here before!
Can't believe the state of this PS5 😂😂 Unfortunate not to get the result, but great video again! Really want some coffee now 😊
It's a real mess. Time to pour yourself a cup!
A few years back my dad sold his damaged tablet, he had sat on it by accident, still had picture but the digitizer only worked on one side. Sold it for parts asked if buyer understood it was damaged buyer said yes, and then opened a return and sent it back and Ebay made my dad pay for the return postage!, another time he sold his old laptop and person sent nasty messages ranging from how the laptop was unusable, all smokers were disgusting and didn't care about other people and left negative feedback as "it smelled like smoke" aka tobacco, again my dad had to pay for return shipping.
eBay can really suck sometimes. I've had very similar experiences.
I must congratulate you for the courage of trying to repair it anyway. The world needs more people like you
Always love to see a PS5 video from you! I'm in love with my PS5 right now, I seriously can't stop starring at it. It has some control over me that won't let me stop playing it!
11 years ago I remember winning an auction on Ebay that seemed too good to be true, a elite with 3 controllers and a few games, the next morning before I even had a chance to pay it arrived, looked brand new and the seller didn't respond when I asked about paying them. Either it was a dodgy console or more likely someones partner was annoyed.
Sony clearly invested a lot of research into using liquid metal, so impressed with what we see here.
God Bless you for even trying to fix that wreck.
Thanks for watching!
Love your channel!! You Inspire me to try to repair my consoles!
Love hearing this!
tbh it's either a wife, gf, or parents might have caused this. really heartbreaking, but it's for the best to be single.
Adds new meaning to dropped off the back of a truck!
Man, it's so sad to see a beautiful piece of machinery in so much ruin. That sucks that you couldn't fix it.
Agree with both points
I felt like you almost got there! Would have been cool to revive this one.
That mangled APU is really disappointing. It’s essentially an impossible fix for a small lab.
I wish you'd do some maintenance videos for those of us who still daily use our xbox 360 and ps3. I searched your vids coz I trust your advice and instruction, so kinda bummed that I didnt find any. They both work, play games great, and are enjoyed daily. You dont always need the latest & greatest of consoles to still have a fun gaming experience. No doubt they've accumulated dust over winter, apart from what I can see near the vents. They may well need fresh TP. Be aweseome if you could cover these in the next couple of weeks so those of us in the southern hemisphere can prepare our consoles for the heat of summer. (no pressure lol). Love your channel, man!
this kind of videos for me are relaxing and we learn new stuff with you 💪💪
Glad you enjoyed!
Looking at the state of this console makes me furious. I have been meaning to buy one for the past 5 months but could never get my hand on it while people in the West are driving over these things
I wanted to gift myself one for my birthday. It's been more than a month since then and I still cannot find it anywhere in India
You do amazing work. Let's see you fix an old typewriter.
These videos makes the watching worth while. Hope to see more like this format.
I love these types of videos because I just wonder the story behind a crushed console and then I get to see Steve attempt to perform surgery 😎.
Wow just wow what a scenario this ps5 must have been in pfff. When i saw the open layers in the corner of the board i already thought this is fatal for the console but yes the APU damage was also really bad. Well at least you've bought some spare parts and a pretty unique Ps5 😁 never seen one like this. Have a good one Steve. Oh and i've recently bought my first broken ps4 (heavy smoker edition) and fixed it but it was overheating and had a broken eject button and was soooo gross.. but IPA and lots of time made it work perfectly again 🤗
I was definitely not confident that I could fix this but was hoping it would still make an interesting video.
Nice work! Love hearing comments like this!
Much support to your channel, your videos are always educational. Quick notify though, you should avoid adding the promotion of coffee. It contributes to the development of CC.
I'll bite. What is cc?
colon cancer
@@Taikuken cool. I haven't heard that. Seems like every couple years there is a study showing the benefits or detriments of coffee
it’s a double edged sword for sure.
I love the fact that Sony finally pulled their heads out of there butts and made a system that the user can do a decent dust clean out without removing any warranty stickers covering any screws.
OH man we need a TronicsFix series where you do some extreme detective work to found out what happened to this thing. Love the channel!
Nice try Steve. Hopefully you can use some of those parts to fix a different PS5 down the road.
On the positive side, at least you got parts out of it!
Almost as crazy as stacking 50 PS4s on top of each other ...
Ya, who would ever do that. That's just dumb, lol
I was really hoping it would still work in some capacity, then you could have done an Apocalypse Case mod for it, since that thing has been through hell and back.
Unlucky bro was a great video, hopefully something good will come from it
Thanks! It does have a lot of good parts still.
Hello Steve !
(sorry for my bad english, i am french 😅)
I look at your vids since a long time. You inspiring me a lot, i wan't to say thank you very much.
Thanks to you, i saved à switch Who was liquid damaged and won't start. The liquid also run out the right joystick and replace it don't repare the problem. Oxydation destroy the soldering of the tiny connection of the joystick. It was a challenge to resolder it but i did it and the switch work very well now !
Thanks to you and please do this the maximum time you can !
Hi tronix fix I been watching your channel for a while now I watched all your videos and I’m a new subscriber on your channel and my first comment on your channel and I love when you fix video games console’s and I never seen a ps5 this bad and this month of October is my birthday and I’ll be turning 29 years old on October 26 and I finally got my ps5 disc version in September from a Sony PlayStation invitation and got mine on Friday for my birthday and it was a gift from my parents and I just wanted to say hi to you and I hope you are doing well and your family and I hope you have an awesome amazing fantastic weekend my friend and stay well and stay safe and I love the work you do in your videos and that is so awesome and amazing.🎸❤️💕❤️🥰✌️👍⭐️
"Wow! We've got some good road rash here!" - you sound like my kids at Christmas haha, love this one!
at least you try man dont give up the good work
Next video: "I bought a PS5 that was fed to Godzilla. Let's see if I can fix it."
Now THAT would be a good video!
thats crazy how much they are selling broken items for now a days. I wouldnt pay that much and no else should. I think broken items are selling for more than new items.
At least you have usable parts. Not sure exactly how many of them are still good, but I'm pretty sure that a lot of those smaller chips and things are still usable.
There's a lot of small parts that are still good.
Today's lesson: Don't put your PS5 on your driveway. 😁 Great video Steve 👍
Ha, ha. Yes, that's a good lesson
I was about to say that... Speedrunners? How do they do that? Btw Steve, I always drink a cup of coffee when I watch your videos!
500 dollars for this? It is kinda miracle somebody (who does not fix things on youtube) was seriously interested in this offer.
I'm not sure that anyone else was seriously interested, lol
I was wondering why I didn't get a notification then I realised I wasn't subscribed 😞😓😩. I'm subbed now.
Another great video, I am not a PS fan but I do enjoy tinkering with all electronics. You definitely have an approach that is amazing and the "fix it till it breaks" line has always been a motto to live by.
That's why I don't even deal with auctions anymore. Low/no ratings people just bid whatever they want and then don't pay after they win. And then eBay doesn't even let you leave a negative rating.
I only list stuff as buy now with immediate payment required, and if anyone sends messages trying to haggle I just don't respond. I left off the "make offer" button for a reason, and that reason is people can use it the same way as winning an auction: agree to buy for a certain price but then not pay, leaving you in limbo.
I'm excited to see you again on a PS5, I hope you fix one from electric problems.
$436 plus shipping?
yeesh, eBay is turning into a cesspool
Everything is expensive right now
@@Tronicsfix yeah you're right.. I bought some straps for my Nintendo Switch over a year ago for like $6, now they are like $12
Do a video on how to create the "Perfect" cup of coffee 😀
That's a good idea! You're a natural
You should be paid for dealing with these issues that are over the top broken
Well, I'm paid pretty well by UA-cam and sponsors so I'm not complaining.
@@Tronicsfix that’s good but you’ve dealt with so much liquid damage and corrosion, cockroaches, cat pea, supposed milk in a switch😂😂, and NOW A RAN OVER PS5 MAN YOU NEED A FULL ON RAISE
I’m trying to prevent my ps5 from getting fried from lighting or power surges I do disconnected in storms but should I get a surge protector or UPS also what brand? Loved the video by the way!
This is going to be interesting…
Hope you enjoy!
Agreed, definitely looking forward to it.
TronicsFix and Techrax team up. Would be interesting to see you try and fix/salvage some of the stuff he plays around with.
4:18
I can already hear Dawid (does tech stuff) say thermal paste bukkake.
Even thought it's liquid metal.
Wow, $436 for these...
What name do you sell under on e-bay, or where ever you sell your fixed stuff on? as I'm looking for a good used ps4.
That seems to be top secret information. I have tried finding him on ebay. Even pausing and reading the screen when he shows his listings. He does a great job hiding the information and really difficult to stalk 🙃
I rarely sell on eBay but when I do it's just my same business name TronicsFix
@@12345....... Ha, ha. Well, it's not top secret on purpose. Just haven't had a reason to shout it out. It's just my business name TronicsFix
Thank you Steve.
WOW, getting close to 1 miillion subs. Nice work trying to save them all.
Getting there!
I'm guessing your doing this for fun cuz much better ones I've seen on ebay.
Great thumbnail!!!
Hey thanks! Hopefully it gets lots of clicks
The thermal pads on the oposite side of vram are present on ps5's with samsung or sk hynix memory modules. The ps5's with micron memory don't have them. I believe that's because of the operating temp of micron, that goes to 95C and the other ones to 85C.
At least that's what i think after disassembling mine that has hynix memory and seeing a bunch of teardowns.
Wow!!!! $436.00 for a dropped a run over PS5!? You're bold to buy it at that price.
that's a total rip off! i've paid mine as new for €499.99 shipping included !
Everyone that comments this comment needs to realize I'm not buying what you think I'm buying. I'm not buying a PS5. I'm buying a story.
@@Tronicsfix I don't think you have understood the meaning of my last comment either! Of course as a big UA-camR, you don't mind buying a broken PS5 at that price, as the purpose of your bying was to make an entertaining video for us! But my last comment was about this seller, as for common people like me, nobody with common sense would have bought his broken PS5 at that price. He's just lucky that you have spotted his PS5 to make your video , otherwise his broken PS5 would still be on the market (@ this price). No hard feelings!
Yes, I agree with you that most people would not buy it at this price. I was simply responding to the people who comment that’s it’s crazy for me to buy stuff like this.
@2:00 it is a common thing called shill bidding where I think the seller had another 'fake' acount and was bidding up the price of which according to eBay is illegal
I love this kind of videos, I hope that the ps5 survived
That Madcap coffee is roasted 25 minutes away. Lots of great roasters in the Grand Rapids MI area.
Cool! There are so many good roasters out there.
Great effort! Saved some parts and made a good video 👍
Yep! Thanks for watching
I was looking at this thing expecting it to be useless, but it’s an addition to parts I guess!
Will u do a more in depth repair attempt on this? i feel there was much more to still try/test on this. Was hard to see how much the APU's die surface was actually damaged while the liquid metal was still on there?
I don't know if I believe that ebay seller, they seem to bid on their own sales to boost their profit margins. I've even seen cancelled items because the value is too low, even won a couple and they were cancelled on me. More likely they were trying to push you up but over shot your bid then when you didn't raise it and lost to them they start talking to you.
Such an unsightly console, I think the road rash makes it look better
I love your ps5 fix video is soo relaxing to see
The first part of the video trying to figure it out what exactly happens with the system, was totally like CSI. x`D
The best October horror movie to date ... "PS5 That Was RAN OVER!!!"
Great video once again. Well presented by a pleasant and intelligent man!
Say hello to Tronics Friday! 😎
How was the damage from being run over on the inside of the PS5 and not on the white covers?
I think the seller said that it was dropped, then ran over (I could be wrong on that) so I'm guessing the white covers came off in the drop. Who knows for sure though.
Wow this channel is great. Is there anyway you can do an LGv10 phone it’s be pretty cool and I’ve been working on it and some advice would be great. It has the boot loop problem
Yeah that APU took a Hit to the corner of the Cpu core stack inside the apu
Would love to see you buy a bunch of the original fat Xbox one and do some repairs to it ... I have an original fat 500gb Xbox one that doesn't turn on anymore and would love to see how I can fix it myself as I'm sure it's something simple to fix and replace.
Hmm..might have to check out trade coffee. Definitely a sucker for a good cuppa.
I'm biased since they're sponsoring this video but I really like Trade so far. I don't take on sponsors that I don't or wouldn't use.
Thank you for always produce good video but.... did you really bought this trash for over $4xx !
How the heck does that even happen
I really wish I knew!
APU could still be good. Not the entire square of the chip is populated, and I’ve seen some lapping go pretty deep without issue.
Next on TronicsFix: "Let's see if we can reassemble this ps5 burned to ashes?"
Reminds me of an on-site service ticket I had of a laptop years ago.
Problem description was "will not power on" and they sent me out with a system board and DC jack.
The customer was a student, and said it fell out of their backpack on the way to their car, hitting the parking lot pavement. They had accidental damage coverage so I told them it shouldn't be a big deal. I noticed the lid was covered in stickers and they looked slightly scratched but didn't really put any thought into it, I popped open the display to assess the damage and saw the LCD shattered along the top. I then noticed that was slightly bowed up in the center. I turned it over and that's when I saw what looked like a tire tread over the front part of the computer. I asked them if it had been run over and they said "yeah, when I heard the crunch, that's when I saw it had fallen out of my bag." since that would require more parts than I was sent, I had to call it in to have them change it from on-site repair to depot repair, which was the protocol in a situation like that.
Ha, ha. Wow, there was a little more to the story!
Hey just noticed your logo is giving me a giant middle finger! Nice!
it breaks my heart to see these playstations broken because their hard to find
Agreed
Why don't you try to swap the apu over? It would be a nice project and learning moment. Worst case scenario you'll have 2 even more broken ps5's
