Chasing the Illinois Dryline in February | Vlog #48

- SKYDRAMA.NET | On February 27th, 2024 an enhanced risk with a bimodal severe weather setup presented itself across the Midwest. Across northern and central Illinois a dryline was forecast to arc through the area during the late-afternoon sparking isolated supercells. A cap would keep a lid on things until near sunset, but Colin and I spent several hours with tornado warned supercells that produced funnel clouds and brief tornadoes from Mendota, IL into the Chicago suburbs. What an active, early start to the storm observation season!

Just AWESOME!! Loved it!! Smiled all the way thru 😊👍.
Got say that I loved seeing you chase in the area that I grew up and worked in for many, many years! Those striations on that cell near Waterman were absolutely amazing. Great video once again!!!!!
Thanks so much!!
Was on a MDW-MSP flight when the northern cells were about 80 miles out. Great view of the tops and back with the sun hitting them. Sure was bouncy. But, I still prefer the views from the ground.
Beautiful content, as always! A delight to see. What's that song playing in the background around the 2:40 mark?
Shazam suggested “Nakaroz” by Sada Trio
That's the song! I should put music info in the descriptions. I'll try to do that going forward.
Thanks, both of you!
Great video! As I hunkered down in DuPage Co, I could only imagine what was happening out west of me! The music was great.
Glad you were safe!
I live in Mundelein, IL, and we went through 3 rounds of sirens. I saw the storm coming my way via Radarscope and got myself in the tub with a blanket and started praying. The EF1 that touched down in Mundelein was three minutes from my house. I could be missing my roof instead of all those people who were displaced from the apartment building. What a wild way to start the season. Great video.
Sheesh, I'm glad you were safe! You definitely did the right thing getting prepared.
