Andrew I am from Illinois originally southwestern. I move to Southeast Missouri 2 yrs ago. Yesterday I was greeted by an LP Supercell along the dry line. It didn't last long wish I took pictures of it. But 2 high based Supercells produced marginal hail here in Farmington Missouri I'm talking about marble sized. I always look forward to your long range and Corn Belt forecasts. Thank you for all you do bud. I always look forward to what you post.
Hey, big fan of your work! I have a quick question: At just after the 6 minute mark, would you describe what you’re doing as core punching? It looks like you’re punching through the RFD to get a better look at the tornado - is that accurate?
So, you're not far off, but in this case I was really just being swallowed up by the storm. A new "blob" was blowing up on the south side of the storm as the rain cooled outflow air surged ahead. So while the storm I was pursuing was off to my north, a new storm began blowing up to my west and south. They were moving quicker than I can travel on the gridded road network so the rain began closing in on me. Ideally I'd have been able to stay ahead longer!
