Full finger wrap - Orficast Instructional Movie 1

This movie demonstrates a full finger immobilization orthosis using the wrap method. The goal of this orthosis is to immobilize the finger in a resting position so it can heal.

How do you recommend removing this when used for serial casting?

Hi Leanna, the patient should tug slightly after the orthosis has hardened and it might just pull off.
If not, the orthosis is easily cut with curved small scissors or plaster scissors down one side. You can have the patient soak the finger in warm water for about 15 minutes, and then try to pull it off. The warm water will loosen the orthosis slightly, but not change the shape. Hope this helps!
