Will this help the top part that's bent down too?

Ce film montre comment fabriquer une orthèse anti-col de cygne en utilisant la méthode du pincement. Le but est d'empêcher l'hyper-extension de l'articulation PIP dans la déformation du cou de cygne.

Does it harden to be a non porous material? Are there options for a smooth surface end result? I use the oval 8's, but want to make a more custom fit for my fingers. I saw that Orfit has thin cut strips that might be smoother. But will they be less durable if not folded in 3 layers? What's best for a durable, smooth surface swan neck deformity orthosis that's not going to get caught on neighboring fingers that also require the use of this? (EDS sufferer)

Hi there, the Orficast when rolled into a tubular shape hardens to a fairly rigid material. It is non-porous and can be smoothed to a nice finish when heated. Stick it to itself with the heat gun if it doesn’t quite stick when heated with hot water and molded. The Orfit Strips in 1/12” also will work for this design. It is fairly simple to create “thin enough” orthoses that do not rub against adjacent fingers. Both materials are well suited for this type of orthosis. Depending on the wearer’s function, they will be quite durable over time.

Hi there, this orthosis can be used in the treatment of a swan neck deformity to one or more of the fingers. This design helps to prevent hyperextension of the PIP Joint.
