Same. When I first heard Fable saying something in human voice I couldn't believe what I'm hearing. It didn't sound at all like bird imitating human. Not a parrot-like "polly wants a cracker" with creak in a sound. I did know that Ravens can "talk", but how well they imitate human voice was surprise to me.
Same here, I have to watch Amy's lips to see that she's not talking. Incredible beasty indeed.

When I was a kid my mother rescued a raven that fell out of the nest. It never wanted to leave us when we tried to let it out in to the wild. We ended up with a bird that would come and go from our home when it wanted. It was an amazing bird. Very intelligent and curios bird.

Crows and Ravens are very loyal birds, and they remember kindnesses and someone being mean to them. So does their flock. I’ve read that the meanness to them the whole flock will punish…for years. 😂

I notice that she only do the kissing sounds when she's with you and not when she's alone
She didn't want Amy to leave her alone with the toy. She wanted to interact with her person, that was more important for her!
Astute observation! This is proof fable means things when she does them and not just mindlessly recreates sounds!
She also bends her head over. I think she asks for a kiss.
The kissing noise might be Fable's name for Amy.

She's in a very talkative mood today. When she says "Hello", she sounds exactly like you Amy, it's uncanny.
Ravens imitate the voice of their people exactly like they sound. So cool.

Yes, ravens can imitate voices to a T. I remember hearing folk tales about people wandering in the woods alone, and going mad because the ravens called them by their name...But those people back then, didn't know it was ravens and that they can do that.
What is really weird is when they all of a sudden talk in your hubby's voice or some other man...
I was owned by a Greenwing Macaw for over 21 years. Her name was Hera and acted a lot like her mythological namesake. She's been gone now for 6 years. Cancer. I still see her out the corner of my eye nearly every day.
I understand. 3 months ago I had to put my 31 year old Quaker to sleep. He owned me for twenty right of those years. I still cry and I hear him.

It never ceases to amaze me how intelligent ravens and crows are! It is no wonder that in Norse mythology they represent 'thought' and 'memory'.
Fascinating how when a parrot speaks, it sounds like a parrot speaking but when this raven speaks, its voice is exactly the same as its trainer's.
My favorite moment is when Fable touches her face, just wanting to be close with her.

Wow. I've only recently learned that ravens can mimic human speech but the the clarity in Fable's mimicking is astounding, I can't tell you two apart.

I bet we have a lot of stories from before we knew about birds doing this that can be attributed to birds. Imagine walking in the woods, even now, and hearing someone calling "hello!" but there's no one around. Creepy shit, but also super cool!

My top favorite birds. Its unbelievable how intelligent crows and ravens are. I once saw some crows picking up chestnuts and let them fall on a street. I was wondering what they are doing. Until I realized they were waiting for cars to crush and open them, then they just picked everything up and had their lunch. I mean thats some impressive learning ability for birds.
I'm sure on one of these videos it said they are as intelligent as a 7 year old child. They really are incredible.

If you watch her other videos, the popping sound is actually another imitation/interaction! It's fascinating.

Fable is adorable!! Having made friends with local jackdaws I came to appreciate and respect the corvid family for their intelligence and street smarts. Lovely bird your raven.

Whilst most birds imitates us with their own tone, it is spectacular to see a Raven try matching yours.
Never thought about them having their own tone. That's a good observation.
@@olliefoxx7165 Specially Parrots and small birds. They "speak" using their own tone, which is mostly guttural. Some birds like Ravens and Lyrebirds, on the other hand, are so good at mimicking that they can change the tone to better imitate a sound or person. Fable is clearly demonstrating it, emulating the womans acute voice
@@bruceluiz That's very interesting! There are some videos of lyrebirds imitating chainsaws, cameras and other sounds they've heard that weren't animal sounds. It's like they are biological recorders. Avian species are so different from mammals I had never thought they had personalities till you posted your comment. Fable is very unique and clearly has a personality. So darn cool!

This is just adorable. I had a Jackdaw for 9 years that I rescued. She was such a fantastic pet. I built her a nice jackdaw house and aviary and she would go out and come back when she wanted to. She even built a nest each year and layed eggs. She used to talk and sound like my voice. Lol. Thanks for sharing your video 👍

I love the part where Fable tastes each piano key to make sure it's not food first, then spends the next two full minutes of video being disappointed that the stick isn't a lollipop. She is such a wonderful bird! Thank you for sharing 🤩

She is adorable and so smart. My personal feeling is that she does have emotions toward you the way she likes to cuddle and chat. It may not make sense but I think they know who is in their corner. She does everything under her own terms of course but she knows.

My Grey parrot makes a “tock” sound that’s a thank you sound. Fable seems to say something similar. Such a pleasure to watch.

As a piano teacher, I find this video heartwarming. Fable may not be the most dedicated of students, but it's fun to see that she enjoys producing musical sound. It also made me smile that when you were trying to get Fable to interact with the piano, she did what many children do and found something more interesting to do! Thanks for sharing.

Found your channel after we had a pair of ravens nest at my work . Was wondering if it’s a bad idea if we leave some food scraps out for them . They built a huge nest and believe the mother is sitting on eggs. And advise would be helpful
