actually, do shoot the upper plate, the angled band of armour above the lower plate is the weakest point from the front, especially with HEAT
Yeah upper plate is a actually a weakspot but only when you are firing premium ammo. Wargaming are basicly stealing money by introducing these new regular ammo proof tanks.

Badger doesn't have the mobility of a medium. Badger has a lower plate that you can actually penetrate. Badger cannot ram a fucking Jagdpanzer E100 to death. Badger has significantly less pen and alpha. Should I continue? Also, look at the armor profile. It's absolutely retarded. Tier 8s and 9s can do NOTHING to it from the front. And on the corridor maps we get these days, from the front is the only opportunity you get

It's slow turning speed makes him a perfect target for any tank (even heavy) and no, you can't snipe. and also you are gold magnet so your armor isn't an issue anymore. You'll know what that means if you get one.
For having played that tank on the test server, I can say it s not op : its 100mm plate on its engine deck is very week against HE

I'd go ahead and say; something that has that much armor, must not have that kind of mobility.

Let's not forget that for some weird reason, the 268 version 4 has the same visual model of the cupola as old 268 but 130 mm thicker. WG modelling 101. oh yeah and suspended hulls...

Well without heat this really is a monster frontally.. but as long as you got heat the upper plate is at least a big target. Still 270-300mm to pen so many T8 mostly are still not going to go through..
If they keep putting in these tanks that depend on highly angled armour they really should give any tank that can meet them a heat choice. So maybe just adding in another ammo type to load in so everybody can choose for themselfs what they take with them..

FireDash even the UDES with that godlike 288 mm pen, is not going to do ANYTHING to it! And this is the best pen for a tier 8! Not to mention tier 8 lights like a LTTB with that shit pen! And with this perfect MM u will meet those more often than not. There is no tier 8 tank in the game that can pen it head-on! Even TDs have to get its side, but no, tight city maps, like Ensk or Himmelsdorf, coridor maps, like Mountain pass or Province, doesnt alow any sneaky or nippy TD to flank it or get its side wich har more armour that a standard 268 on the front.

QB give you good advise, flank it. Np to do in slow tank, FLANK it. JPe100 can have weakspots in front, but Soviet tank cant. Its all about Soviet balance, top in world.

320mm but yeah that is disgusting. That is VK4502 lower plate at tier 8 levels of bullshit. And then a small copula that has 250mm of angled armor (effectively about 270-280 since I have bounced T30/T95 shells off that). I guess I will have to just take more HE rounds with all these impenetrable tanks.

Second, i am not going to carry full HE ammo so i can kill a specific tank, ill carry 5 out of 30 for example and only on big guns.

Do you really want to turn this game into "World of HE?" Most player carry 5-8 HE rounds depending on how many total rounds your tank can carry. HE is almost always not the answer since I have seen plenty of people think that fire an HE and do 100 damage or less. Maybe spend less time attempting to insult people and more time thinking things through.
If this tank is not op, why are my clanmates playing it all the time and doing 6k damage, multiple kills and only get 2nd class? How can you say, this tank is not op, whilst the leopard is not too bad?
Did you mention its standard penetration of 290? I mean...soon the heavy tank players will complain again about always getting penned, so they need to be buffed again. Its getting ridiculous...

The T95 agrees. Nobody calls the T95 truly OP since it can be easily flanked (even with its frankly unnecessary "mobility" buff) and is almost the slowest thing on the field (I believe one of the german arties is slower)

You know that HE is best against flat surfaces. Soviet tanks specially their turrets arent flat. Thats why an jp e100 does ~100-200 dmg per shot. Sometimes less. To the is 7 turret and 400-600 against the hull where normal ap woulf have done ~1000 dmg. And we are dumb. You are right.

I mean, you are really kissing WG's ass right here. This tank is way too powerful. "Frontal armor is really good but sides are weak so try to flank it". Right.. When it is on the seame corridor with another 2 tanks, flank it. You will surely succeed. Even the side armor is rather good. Almost no weak spots. Way too good mobility fur such good armor (compare it to badger for example or to E3. They are all about the frontal armor so they have shit mobility. This tank has armor almost just as good and is 3x more mobile. Is that balanced???? For real now)

Type 5 isnt all that special when it fights its own tier and tier 9, some TDs like the Jagdtiger can shoot right through the turret cheeks and other tanks can pen the cupola. I should know I have one lol. Cupola shots on me for days.
I grinded the SU-101 line (currently at SU-100M1) just for the 263 (I call it YoloWagon or Stalin's Sandals) but then this abomination comes out..
263 is a rather unique TD with low alpha, high DPM, good (but not invincible) frontal armor, decent mobility, but narrow gun arc, poor gun depression, and an open top.
This thing isn't special at all, just terribly overpowered. The JPz E100, T110E3, and Badger are all slow because they are heavily armored, but then there is this shit with 55 km/h top speed and better frontal armor.
Guess I'm gonna stop at tier 7 just like you, so I won't have to encounter this bullshit.

The problem with the Type 4/5 isn't just the armour. It's the extrmely dumb HE derp gun which even gets higher alpha if you simply press 2 and pay more credits... They don't need to aim and can just take a dump on everything, no matter if the opponent uses his armour correctly or not. It's like old arty in a mobile form, packed with armour that most tanks can't easily penetrate without using gold ammo.

One way to balance it is by giving it the 122mm gun with 175 pen, so it won't be able to pen anything but lights. The players will complain about this shit being underpowered, and nobody play them again.

Second most mobile tier X TD after Grille 15, and the most heavily armored because the JPz E100, Badger, and T110E3 have a weak LFP.
WG decided to 'balance' this tank by giving it bad accuracy and DPM. But almost every Russian tanks in the game have the best stats in every single parameter except view range and accuracy.

The "hammerhead" style periscope is an optical range finder . Used to measure the range to the target by focusing it on 2 diferent lences , and creating a triange. The foch 155 has the same device , so does the e 100 for example.

This thing, Object 263 and the IS7 all seem to be so terrorizing in about the same way...they all have amazing armor, great speed, and exceptional assault capabilities!
Object 263 is extra special in that great armor category because of the whole no weak spot thing. It is heartbreaking to see how underrated it is.

I disagree with the people saying it should have a weak lower plate. They need to keep the lower plate but make the upper plate weaker, that’d be pretty unique; also keep the forward mobility so it can assault but nerf its traverse and reverse speeds
Traverse speed is already horrible enough, reverse speed could use a nerf. This thing's frontal armor is stupid though. What am i supposed to do when a 268 4 is down an alley and I'm in an M48 with nowhere to go? Nothing. Not even gold can pen the front.
the point is it needs a frontal weakness. Every other tier 10 TD has one and all of the tier 10 heavies have at least one (though the IS7 has always been a troll it does have exploitable frontal weaknesses)

Dear Quickybaby, i respect your opinion, but in this case calling the 268v4 "not OP" is just wrong. A tank with entirely no frontal weak spots whatsoever *with above average mobility* and an ok gun (just compare that gun to TX heavy tank guns...) IS op.
I know you are used to tab that 2-key and just cut through armor like butter, but tanks should NOT be based around premium ammunition and be bulletproof to standart ammunition. A tank that reaches this state of armor while not being immobile as f*ck is OP. There is no need to discuss this.
Tanks just sitting in open field should be penetrable with standart ammunition at least SOMEwhere. Let it be the cheeks of the E3's lower plate (which has like half of the 268v4's mobility), the cupola and lower plate of the JP E100 (same mobility issue) or the lower plate of the chinees TD. But it should have at least ANY weak spot frontally.
This weak spot free frontal armor was bullsh*t on the japanese heavy tanks, it was bullsh*t on stuff like the Patriot/Chrysler and its STILL bullsh*t on the 268v4 -_- Just because you see that pattern more often does NOT mean its less bullsh*i.

The 'periscope' that QB is talking about at 3:42 is, yes a periscope, but more accurately a stereoscopic rangefinder. Just what was needed for those long-range accurate shots.

Calling the 268 v 4 something fresh for those who grinded the 263? People grinded the 263 for the exact reason so as to take a break from the increasingly braindead gameplay of most of the other Tier X TD's, and associated tech trees. Now we get our breath of fresh air stolen from us and replaced with a TD that has braindead gameplay of most of the other Tier X TDs.
I have quit World of Tanks precisely because they changed the 263 line into this monstrocity. I loved my skill and knowledge based DPM oriented TD line, and now its gone and replaced with something generic.

In order to take full advantage of its DPM, you first needed to know where you could actually position it to both hide its lower plate and actually bring its gun to bear on the target with that terrible gun depression (Many lesser players tried, then give up complaining that its entirely unusable). Because Artillery could slam dunk it right into the open top, staying still was only ever an option if you figured out where the Arty was shooting from somehow and were able to reposition accordingly, otherwise you were moving frantically between shots to reduce the chances of Arty getting that glorious one-shot. Even after Arty rework, the 263 was one of the few tier X's that still had to worry about Artillery getting full penetration shots due to that open top, and though the reduced SPG Alpha no longer made them as big a one-shot threat as they used to be, it's still a considerable amount of health a 263 could lose in a single hit... and arty is hitting much more frequently now.
Then you have to have solid trigger discipline and wait for more appetizing opportunities to present themselves if you are able to take up a concealed position. Rather than waiting for a target to poke, you had to learn to identify those who might make an attempt to push. The short reload on the 263 could reward your patience with 2 or 3 shots on a target whereas the large Alpha TD's would only get the opportunity at one shot on a target that attempted to push before realizing their mistake and getting back into cover.
And then lastly, the mobility of the 263, and its awesome DPM made for a solid support TD to back up a Medium Tank wolf pack once it began to flex. In order to maximize your contributions with this vehicle you had to learn when to abandon a position to start roaming with the MT's rather than to continue sitting on the red line to snipe from afar. When you pop around a corner to bring that DPM to bear, you'll often attract a lot of attention, and so knowing how and when to maneuver the vehicle became a big part of its late game impact.
There are many more facets to this vehicle, but it certainly requires a great deal more finesse than the 268 v 4 does.

They did the same to the T-10, replaced it with a monstrosity that is basically an IS7 one tier lower. Granted at least that thing has weakpoints like an actually penable lower plate
I only played 2 games in it and got an Ace Mastery. 4 games played in it so far, but i moved my crew to the Obj 263 to get my Ace Mastery.

the mobility of the v4 is higher than the is3 so you cant flank it, you cant do anything from the front, so you have very little hope of beating one

VK 45.02B was considered "broken" by WG because it had strong upper plate and even stronger lower plate but in return was riddled with weak spots and paired with mobility that makes E75 look like Ru251, so they "buffed" it by making his lower plate meh and added 20mm side armor that ultimately serves no purpose whatsoever.
Apparently these standards don't apply to Russian tanks since what we have here is a TD with great mobility, great gun, no weak spots and lower plate that puts old VK45.02B to shame. And as if that wasn't enough, they also added Obj 705/A to further shit on all back mounted turret tanks because you know, they have the only tank that can sidescrape whilst being 100% immune to anything but HE.
Might as well just sell my VK45.02B...

The obj 268 v4 walks into a bar. There is no counter.
One thing I've noticed when fighting that tank is if you have heat loaded you can pen the top armor on the front ( engine deck )because heat doesn't really care that it's an extreme angle

I had the 263 before that patch and I was one of the few of those drivers looking forward to the tank but ... It is broken, it needs a nerf to the lower plate, not autopen like the 263 was but also not auto rechocet like the tank is now . But it would be nice if the mobility and gun stayed the same.

Yep, so far I do agree with 95%+ of QB's opinions on tanks, but definitely not with this one. It's true that u can flank this tank with flexible tanks, especially upon tracking, but this game isnt 1on1, so in most situation u cant flank... having frontally no weakpoints mean u're simply not getting damaged. Lower damage (for a td) doesnt mean much as long as u have undefinitely long staying-power. As long as u're not td urself shooting gold, u cant trade with this tank. Even the superheavies have at least 1 frontal weakspot and are extremely slow. This thing has no frontal weakspots and is faster than lot of meds, still having very high pen and relatively good gun handling making its very flexible and a no-brainer for a lot of situation. Totally OP imo
I haven't played since I bounced a Grille ap round off the lower plate at a great angle for me. It's ability to pull out, do damage, and pull back with taking no damage is the best in game.
