Storm surge causes the most property damage and loss of life. Anyone living below projected 20 ft surge needs to get out NOW while you can. Roads will be clogged soon, then closed. Emergency vehicles will not respond once winds approach 50 mph. Voice of experience here.
I fear for all of those in the bull's eye, but esp. those who've not yet experienced a major hurricane, don't know what to expect, won't listen to anybody, and hopefully survive making a lot of wrong decisions.

I’m in sw ga right in the path. Just hoping for the best. Six years on many in this area are still recovering from effects of Michael in ‘18. Pecan orchards and pines replanted and doing well. Just hoping these rural agricultural areas are spared such devastating damage.
Aren't pecan trees shallow rooted and particularly susceptible to wind damage? We lived south of Macon, GA. in '74 when an F0 took out a line of trees in an orchard about 1/4 mile in back of our house. I pray you all stay safe.
@@indy_go_blue6048 Most of the small trees didn’t get uprooted like the larger trees. Hundreds of acres of planted pines snapped off without being uprooted. I have planted pines that didn’t get too much damage because they were smaller but a good portion of wooded property is still a mess from huge oaks that came down. I think because the replanted pecan orchards are only a few years old they will be okay. Thx for your concern.

I'd be very cautious in the Tampa area. A slight jog east in the track and the impacts increase exponentially. In addition, powerful hurricanes can resist typical steering currents and do surprising things in track movement and direction.
Ft. Myers here, and the radar on TV makes it look like we're getting hammered, when there's only been a fraction of rain, or mist. The sensationalizing of weather never ceases to amaze me. There's absolutely nothing here. The local radar looks nothing like whatever they're presenting to the public, its void of all the great colors, and there isn't any bands here at all. So, I've become the weatherman again. Geesh. SWFL I predict is completely safe from this storm, and anyone East of us as well.
