Really excited about the new Bear and Son knives. I've watched them steadily improve over time and am always excited about things made fairly locally to where i live.
I have family near them and live not too relatively far off in Georgia. Im rooting for the "home team".
Being an absolute fan of them i hope the following is taken as constructive criticism from someone who cares about their success.
Its got to be mentioned, though they are made in USA, with the prices they are charging for D2 and G10 (fairly standard materials) I'll be perfectly happy to pay that premium they are asking if their average employees are making a full living wage (with health care) in comparison to the cost of living in Alabama right now. But to be blunt, id have to have that confirmed before i pay those prices for standard materials that are on $40 inport knives.
The value their knives present has been iffy in the past and ive watched them improve on the quality front but have got to say that some value proposed is still in question concerning price especially concerning the markup on their imports.
Im always happy to pay a premium for local conpanies that support their employees. 😁 If i know for sure that the average employees are paying bills and raising families from their salaries ill pay $80 for D2 and G10 any day, with the converse also being implied.

Bear and Son is such a mystery to me. Their knives look great, they offer something in nearly every category, they use all sorts of materials, made in the USA which I’ve seen videos of their manufacturing and at prices well below many other US brands, yet I always seem forget about them. That said they must do pretty well seeing the size of that booth! I will say I am a bit surprised to see them outsourcing manufacturing overseas but he certainly upfront about it. I feel like I need to really take the time to check them out.

I have to agree with you on that one. I have a one Bear and Son knife, the Rancor with S30V and G10 scales. It's a great knife, American made, and cost less than a hundred dollars. I need to get one of those Barlows.

@@justingrady1964 yeah I really need to find a local dealer that carries them. Being that I’ve never even held one, I have no frame of reference for what to expect when it comes to their fit and finish etc. and I’ve seen mixed reviews. So I’ve always been hesitant to order one online.
