I second that. And it is also very forward-thinking, and nuanced with a deep wealth of knowledge easter-egged in. I love how this content you produce ages - its like a good wine.
In time, with these two the past few years bringing more appeal, someone out there is definitely developing a version that will be more appealing for a civilian in todays conditions.
@@dillonbray It's also important for an open source option to be available since public safety oriented radios are notorious for having a lot of backdoors that only feds and enemy countries know about. Example the P25 callback direction finding exploit.

Yes! This is the kind of stuff I’ve wanted more of. The extra/other side of the prepared citizen concept. More tech, radios, Commo, information sharing and relaying. Great job Issac.
I am digging this new channel! By the way, I am working on a radio field kit for you (manpack, field computer, field manual, and D.O.P.E cards). Good luck with the new channel.
Glad to know I can save $14,950 using a meshtastic setup to bounce comms and run ATAK. Spend another $20 for a baofeng and boom I have voice. Speak in code and it substitutes for encryption. Setup a repeater if you really need that long distance voice communication.
I like listening to Isaac's content as well and to hear that this channel will focus on stuff like comms, etc., will only help our community. Oh, and here's my algorithm offering
I’m very fortunate in my line of work, that I get to work with both types of radios. They have their unique uses but most importantly, I can actually use both together. Love these radios
So many important and interesting tech gets missed being covered at SHOT so I appreciate this topic. Comms are important but doesn’t get covered much for general public to learn about.
Really interesting video. There are mountains of videos out there covering yet another M4 variant or the latest supposedly HSLD plate carrier but very few that cover comms & ISR - the real force multipliers. Easy subscription to the channel.
This content is excellent. I need to see more of these radios. The market is vast lets find that perfect civlian company that offers curring edge items. Cool stuff as always.
Great content! I’m not sure how popular this will be in civilian defense market, but strategists and king makers will find this information invaluable in the preparedness community.
Nice, Nice man! Refreshing change. Best Show Coverage i’ve seen so far! I think you are right on target with the content we are interested in consuming , real world usage, and how it fits in to our little tactical selves. Good Job
Though interesting ... if a product is only available to LEO/Military, or no plan to release a version of it to the public, then I don't see the utility in producing content about such a product. "We’re dedicated to providing quality equipment to citizens who want to protect their life, family, community, and country." Hope you continue to maintain your focus.
The civilian market, both consumers and manufacturers alike, need to have more knowledge of these MIL products, so there can be more demand and more R&D for competing products that will be available to citizens. Smarter radios and better waveforms and MANETs exist in the public sector, and we can create demand for them in the private sector.
Very cool to see you guys cover this, I'm a general HAM nerd but work in the public-safety realm of communications as well. Some awesome stuff coming down the pipe!
It's like a tiny phased array; it figures out where the other signal is coming from and it steers its signal to it, regardless of your 2D orientations. Not sure if 3D orientations are compensated for, or just kinda work, or what.
Do these radios require a satellite in space to work or can they work through just ground assets alone; and are they available to the general public for use?
We use to use two antennas on CB radios to do a similar thing but did not call it beam. I think it was resonate antenna placement. Regardless, it did boost the range.
Great video and new channel - subscribed. I like the idea of reviewing both hi-end kit we can’t get and technology we can deploy. Eventually the hi-end becomes more available so the education fits well into a short and long term planning process. Keep it up and get the products into your store or be the marketing front end for drop ships - in other words - go figure out what kits we need to buy at 2 or 3 price points/capabilities.
Are there any products on the civilian side that come anywhere close to being as useful or being able to integrate like these systems without spending as much as car?
Mesh radio is something already made in Russia. It's called wave net (волновая сеть). The only difference is that this here is android and maybe different band and way it encodes
as an (offesive and defensive) security/architecture/fullstack guy, having android on those radios may not be a good idea at all, for a business perspective yeah its quick to develop stuff to but in the long time thats a high risk thing, for that (high) price I would have expected a specific application embedded system/fpga to do the job
Basically newer military radio tech is running encrypted voice and data traffic over a military version of meshtastic. Every radio is simultaneously an end-unit and a router. As long as we make sure "Warlord Notebook" never happens again, it's cool. Those that know, know of that particular military comms horror.
@T.RexLabs thanks for your reply! My unit used Silvus and it sucked. We always had issues with connectivity and Silvus charged us an arm and a leg for the licensing fees. We ended using Harris and MPU5s and so far so good.
As an IT professional, I appreciate the technical content you produce. It tickles my inner geek.
I second that. And it is also very forward-thinking, and nuanced with a deep wealth of knowledge easter-egged in. I love how this content you produce ages - its like a good wine.
I have MPU5 aspirations on a meshtastic budget.
Real
Mesh/MIMO radios are the future, but mashtastic isn't viable for austere environments. We really need something to bridge the gap from MPU5.
In time, with these two the past few years bringing more appeal, someone out there is definitely developing a version that will be more appealing for a civilian in todays conditions.

don't we all lol. I want AI built in to with a Snap X Elite.
$30,000 in comms gear is a little out of my budget when nods are an investment
No kidding.
Get a $1500 Icom-705 backpack ham radio, extra battery and ham license and you can comm worldwide.
@Bing-tr9lz On a radio you do

Fantastic video. It's good to finally see a solid comparison between the two radios in a simplified way.
It's taken a lot of research, and guys like yourself have been instrumental in helping me figure out the tech involved.
A conversation with fosatech about sdr and radios for civilians would be a great video.
Civilian usually means individual and it’s paramount that people embrace equipment acquisition as a team effort.
It’s like you brought back a cool version of popular mechanics and popular science. Thanks!

Glad to be a part of the DARPA testing for Silvus. It’s an awesome piece of tech.
You guys are outstanding!
The first UA-cam folk who showed off Hytera gear in-depth.
Thanks again.

under 150 sub club. this will be fun. this mesh radio thing is one of the coolest things ive ever seen.
Look at the mesh net that was used in Thailand soccer team from flooded caves.
I think it’s awesome you started your channel. Your videos are legit.
TBH, this is my favorite content from Trex. And Isaac is my favorite Botkin brother
Wait until they unveil brother Jamar. You’ll freak
EE here, super stoked about your new channel, and covering tech that most people are unknowledgeable about
This content is excellent. I need to see more of these radios. The market is vast lets find that perfect civlian company that offers curring edge items. Cool stuff as always.
This is awesome! Glad this chennel launched!!
Love the idea of this channel. Right up my alley! 🎉
Great channel man. Thanks for the content and production. You'll have hundreds of thousands of subs in the future. Keep it coming and thank you.
Found my new favorite channel. Time to nerd out!!
Great content! I’m not sure how popular this will be in civilian defense market, but strategists and king makers will find this information invaluable in the preparedness community.
Thanks Issac. Your content is always interesting and highly informative, sir. Great launch video. Congrats.
Very good video to understand these equipments…keep doing the good job!
I love these type of TREX videos. Its great to see they share my same preparation interests, but are much farther along the way.
Nice, Nice man! Refreshing change. Best Show Coverage i’ve seen so far!

If it’s for military and le only now. Wait a year or so and it will hit the civ market
A wider understanding of the radio industry is important for us, I enjoy the content.
The MPU5 is not as hard to get but you definitely need some money.

Really enjoyed the new tech content! Looking forward to what the channel does next!
yes, more of that please
Question:
So the beam forms depending on what direction the two antennas are oriented as you carry it?
It's like a tiny phased array; it figures out where the other signal is coming from and it steers its signal to it, regardless of your 2D orientations. Not sure if 3D orientations are compensated for, or just kinda work, or what.
Do these radios require a satellite in space to work or can they work through just ground assets alone; and are they available to the general public for use?
Love this side of reviews. Talking about stuff outside of just guns. Keep it up!
We use to use two antennas on CB radios to do a similar thing but did not call it beam. I think it was resonate antenna placement. Regardless, it did boost the range.
Isaac is the 2A hero we didn't know we needed.
I am hopeful for this lab oriented content!
I know you asked Podcast listeners to email suggestions, but I was driving. A series on how to get started with something like Meshtastic would rock.
I'm talking to my buddies to get meshtastic devices in 3D printed housings to get 70% of the functionality at 2% of the cost.
Excellent stuff! Looking forward to future topics and experiments!
My new favorite trex channel just dropped

would be nice to see links to all the different products...
How much is that Silvus radio? Is it available to the general public?
Love this content! Keep it coming!
What is the cost of the Silvus Technologies radio?
I thoroughly enjoy how you bring this knowledge to us. Keep that shit up Nerd
Kick ass! Thanks for sharing! God bless
Keep the channel up!!!!!
Finally found you 🎉
UA-cam does not really promote new channels... I'm sure it'll be easier to find after a few more thousand views and likes.
KN6UNC here… got my license a couple years ago.
I didn’t realize SHOT had elex. Need a mobile for my car.
Looking forward to more of this content
Awesome channel! I'm in the mission critical radio industry. You've come a long way from bao fengs! Great work!!
Am I missing somethhing because from what I can tell all of the Silvas radios are for DOD or Government agency only? Is there a civilian verson?
Amazing! More please!!
Where as a civi can you purchase these
This was outstanding!
This was a fascinating video. As this technology evolves I see us getting closer and closer to that "Buzz lightyear" style comm lolll
Liked and subbed 🎉
Love it. Great split off channel idea
Those antennas where wild. Amazing.
While I love SHOT show coverage of firearms, I also enjoy the other things shown-IFAKs, lights, packs, etc. So I'm glad you're covering radios too.
Are there any products on the civilian side that come anywhere close to being as useful or being able to integrate like these systems without spending as much as car?
Price of sylvus?
If Wave Relay only worked as advertised. Big win for Silvus.
I need to get more into comms and electronic emissions camouflage.
Mesh radio is something already made in Russia. It's called wave net (волновая сеть). The only difference is that this here is android and maybe different band and way it encodes
Third! Can we get a Discord for this channel to talk among the community?
does this actually works at lower SNR then normal FM at a similar power level?
How much of this is available to the civilian market?
🇺🇸
Saw no mention of strong encryption.

Cool channel. LOVE the coverage. Find us a low cost alternative to these devices because this ability is game changing.
ON BOARD,
i love how you finished the video, with all that assembling going on in the background lol

Those that know, know of that particular military comms horror.
All I know is that a long time ago it was a big deal, and I never heard about it again.
This is my favorite part of what T.rex arms upload, it's nice that you guys break this out.
Love the idea. I would LOVE to see a radio network review for something under 100k.
Why did you only interview the Silvus team and not the MPU5 team? I wanted to listen to what they have to say.
The guys at the booth were waiting for permission to be on camera, and I didn't have the time to wait with them, sadly.
@T.RexLabs thanks for your reply! My unit used Silvus and it sucked. We always had issues with connectivity and Silvus charged us an arm and a leg for the licensing fees. We ended using Harris and MPU5s and so far so good.
What frequency does the Silva wavebeam run on?
They have radio modules for many, many bands.
When is Lobby Day 2024?
Best addition to the trex arm ever!!!
But can I actually buy that Silvus radio?
Any civilian legal flashbangs that are any good?
T.RexLabs x HRCC crossover episode when?
We needed an Isaac focused channel.
Music goes hard. Also 9:37 someone tag Isaac and tell him about the Unihertz Titan phone.
All of this was way cool but way over my head. I was more hyped about those antennas. Would like a link to those.
it be nice to hear you over the music you put in here
Love this
That antenna is bad ass 🤘🏾
