- Looking for a budget way to lift the front of your Tacoma? A spacer lift is a great option for that. Simply mount the spacer on top of your factory strut assembly and get about 2.5" of lift. Allow yourself to run bigger tires and have more clearance, or get the stance you're looking for. We are also adding a 1" lift block to the rear for a full budget lift kit. Look for that video on our channel if you're interested. Click the link below to grab a leveling kit from YotaXpedition.com

Most straightforward and easy to follow video on this I’ve seen yet. Thanks
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
Don't forget to re-aim those headlights, I like being able to drive at night without getting blinded 👍
Nice! Easy to understand and very doable. Thanks!
Great video, was able to follow really well. You saved me a lot of money by doing this myself!
Awesome! Glad we could help!
Great video and explanation 👍
Thank you! 👍
Clean shop.😊
Muy clara explicación, hasta yo la entendí, gracias por subirla ...
Great video
Thanks!
I love how you’re so ashamed to acknowledge that the front is higher because of people who squat their trucks. Lol no body is going to notice a 1/2” difference.
Great video. I wish I had taken off the lower control arm when I did my spacer lift. Makes it much easier. I had to remove the sway bar bushing and the 2 bolts on the knuckle. Wasn’t able to completely remove the coil over but It was enough to seat the block and tighten them down with an impact.
yeah the point was to level it out not make it unlevel in the opposite direction lol. But with some driving and time it will settle a bit. After we put the front leveling kit on we put the rear lift blocks in and it was almost perfectly level/ lifted.
I just bought these wheels and SL Falken wildpeaks at4s in the same size 265/70/17. Think I’m going to pair the front 2 inch with a 1 inch block in the rear and some 1 1/4 inch hub centric spacers
Keep the tacoma videos coming! Love watching them. Also, i dont think a spacer lift installed above the strut assembly would cause a stiffer ride… it doesnt cause more preload on the spring. What it does do is move the ride height so you’re much more likely to use the shock as a limiting device more frequently with down travel and you’re further away from the stock bump stop so it could compress the shock too much on up-travel. Those two things combined could cause a more harsh ride and possible shock failure. Those are extreme cases obviously… 99% of the time it will be absolutely fine and ‘should’ ride and drive like stock!
What you said is correct about the travel. However it does extend the geometry beyond the factor length form top hat to where the shock mounts to the lower control arm. When reassembling you need to compress it a bit to get it all back together, so there is a bit more preload and the truck is noticeably tighter up front unfortunately.
@@yotaxpedition good to know! I’m considering leveling my 23 off-road with a 1/2” spacer on the drivers side and 1/4” spacer on the passenger side. Should yield 1” lift drivers and 1/2” passenger. That will eliminate to taco lean and bring it up level with the back (it’s 1” lower on drivers and 1/2” lower passenger right now). Would require new studs in the top hat unfortunately. I wanted to do this because I like the stock ride quality. Now I’m unsure.
@@ajr5195 you won’t affect the ride quality in any noticeable way placing a spacer on top like this. In theory I get what @yota Expedition is saying but you’ll never notice that in the real world. The spring preload spacers that go under the top hat will make it noticeably stiffer
@@northerntoyota7584 that’s what I thought as well. I’ve never used a spacer lift though.
@@ajr519523 offroads come with a 1” loaded strut lol my buddy got some takeoffs for his 2nd gen insteat of getting a spacer kit
Those lower control arm cam bolts are known for seizing up over time and become a real pain to take out usually having to cut them out if they're really bad, so I would take the time to anti seize the bolts since you already have the control arm dropped as a preventative maintenance
This truck will be apart several more time! We will be sure to add some!
I’m literally dealing with that problem rn
@@Scovo- might be worth it to just pay someone to deal with it tbh get a good off-road shop experienced with it
If there’s a will there’s a way
That's good advice, in my early days of tinkering with cars I learned that the hard way... Now I'm an extreme advocate of anti seize
Does adding this kit affect the front radar and adaptive cruise?
Do they sell longer struts that do the same thing? If you have an older truck that needs struts anyway can you just buy longer ones?
I recently got a 22 Tacoma with stock wheels and 245 /16 tires, the front is nose dive slammed , and I want to lift it, But this subject is really confusing, Because some say add 2 inch to the front but then they all end up with the front being higher than the back , and now they have to add blocks to the rear. My question is will 1.5 spacers level my truck without touch the back section ?
Will this work on a TRD PRO?
Hi I installed this but the bolts on the spacer keeps getting loose after I drive it is there a reason? I tighten them so tight and they keep loosening
Use loctite to prevent this from happening.
How come you didn’t show loosening that back nut of the strut. Is it hard to get to? Do you need something beside the wrench like a socket and ratchet instead?
A normal 14mm wrench will get it just fine.
I'm thinking of getting a 2016 Tacoma SR 2 wd, 4 cylinders. What would the outcome be if I decide to do a 4" Rough Country lift kit along 35" all terrain tires? I don't wanted for off-roading just looks. My concern is that is not a v6, any input?
Yeah they might be a bit much for the 4cyl. I would go with 33s. Still look good but wont kill all your power.
just bought a brand new 2023 sr5 4x4 tacoma. it has 245 75/r16 firestone destination le2 with the dark rim. i find the truck sitting lower than i like.used to the 1500 ram i traded in.i find i have to tilt my head to get into the tacoma also not crazy about the dark rims.would like to switch the rims to a crome color and put on tires that will raise the truck without having to install a lift kit ....any suggestions ?
This leveling kit would be a good option. Also you can go with a 265/75 tire to get you some more height.
you recommend only use it for the front of the truck?
do u have a link to order it
These will only work on the front. The rear suspension is completely different. yotaxpedition.com/products/icon-2in-leveling-kit
I’m having a really hard time getting the lower control arm bolts to line up again…
I realized that if I loosened the bolt to the sway bar, it gave me the dexterity needed to line everything up 👍👍. One side almost done! I expect the other side is going to go much faster 😆
The second side is always faster lol. Glad you got it figured out.
“By putting a - *pop* ‘ 😂
Does putting this leveling kit on will it give more ground clearance?
Yes, you will gain some ground clearance up front.
Do you need to upgrade upper control arm after?
No
See ya 😂
Does this kit cause a stiffer ride or does it keep factory ride style
It will affect the ride quality a little but it's not to bad.
OP is the front end noticibly stiffer at all? Speed bumps etc. That would be my only concern. Thanks
Short answer is yes. But I personally think the suspension from factory is stiff. Really depends on the person.
What type tires are u running.
These are Yokohama Geolandar m/t's
Would this leveling kit clear my wheel set up 17x9 et20 on 285/70r17?
17x9 +1offset
With that set-up you are going to run into rubbing issues. Trimming and modifications will be needed.
@@yotaxpeditionwhat about 275/70/17 -10mm offset?
What size tires do u have?
These are 265/70 mud terrain tires from Yokohama.
Did it mess up the tss ?
We have our pro style grille installed which lowers the tss sensor down and back into the OEM area.
What size tires do you have on?
These are 265/70/17 mud terrains
Do you need a lift for those size tires? Thinking of upgrading factory wheels to 17". Thanks for the video
Don't over do it with the paint pen bro.
Wich wheels are those
Stock trd wheels from a 4Runner
I wish I watched this video for the first side lmao. That was rough.
lol, all part of learning! Never goes easy the first time.
Dame the back sits lower that sucks looks like crap that way
When you pair these with the 1" rear lift blocks from Icon the Tacoma sits perfect
Dude, no offense. You made it more difficult
You don't have to mess with the lower control arm's if you do it right.
You have 2 options. Do what I did in this video or you can pop the ball joint, remove outer tie rod and sway bar end link. You can not get the strut assembly out or in with out doing one of those methods.
