Please correct me if I’m wrong…but I could’ve swore I heard b4 that when running + offset rims, you have a greater chance of rubbing the UCA’s or even hitting the coilovers at articulation. Idk but I rather rub on the cab mount and fender liners/ bumper than those other components because as you stated…there are things you can do about it to fix the rub.
That is correct! OEM wheels or wheels with a really high positive offset +10 or more will definitely rub with bigger tires on the UCAs/coil overs. That’s why I said you don’t want to go too high on the positive offset, just enough to clear the cab mount without rubbing any other internal components! 285/70/17 maybe. Without any cutting its going to be tough with any negative offset wheel unless you’re willing to deal with some mild rubbing. But I’d say 285/70/17 would be your best bet.
@@stay4theride gotcha. I understand that. Well the only thing I can compare it to would be my old 4 runner. I had a 3 in lift with 285/70/17 and a 17/9 -6 offset wheel. It rubbed a little on the plastic and slightly on the cab mount at full turn in reverse.
Maybe but my guess is that it’ll still rub. I know 285 with -12 offset will rub on a 3in lift so anything bigger would rub even if it’s an inch taller.
If you want to go bigger, just get a cab mount chop to play it safe. Or try it and see how it works out for you. Based on what I’ve seen most people that go over 285 tire size have to get a cab mount chop regardless of lift height unless you have a 6 in lift. Then you can clear 35s

I fit 285\75R16 with a 3.5in lift front coilovers and 2.5in block on rear without cutting anything.
All these tacotubers lmao 🤣
265/70/17 rubbed with 0 offset on 2 inch lifted trd off-road.
Can I hire you to set my 17 off road like this?
Haha! Hey I'll take that as a compliment!
What’s the biggest tire size I could go with a 2022 Taco 3/2 ReadyLIFT and a 17x9 -12 offset without rubbing and without cutting?
285/70/17 maybe. Without any cutting its going to be tough with any negative offset wheel unless you’re willing to deal with some mild rubbing. But I’d say 285/70/17 would be your best bet.
@@JordanMcKeithan I don’t mind trimming or heating up some plastic. It’s the cab mount I’m worried about.
@@JordanMcKeithan thanks for the info 👍👍
How is the ride quality compare to factory? does it feel harsh?
It’s a little more stiff than factory but not as stiff as strut spacers, those SUCK!
What kind of front bumper is that
It’s the Body Armor 4x4 Hiline Series Front Bumper
What clip setting did you use for the Bilstien 5100s for the 2in lift??
33 is perfect
Have you taken it offroad to see if it rubs and did you regear it?
Does well off road too! And no I did not regear it.
Good info but as an off-roader it will destroy my fender when the wheel fully tuck in the wheel well.
This taco looks soo good with those tire/wheel combo. What wheels are those..?
Thanks man. They’re the RRW RR6h 17x8.5 -25 offset
Did you have to upgrade your gears?
Would the 295 or 305's fit a 4" lift with a 17×9 -12 offset wheel?
Maybe but my guess is that it’ll still rub. I know 285 with -12 offset will rub on a 3in lift so anything bigger would rub even if it’s an inch taller.
If you want to go bigger, just get a cab mount chop to play it safe. Or try it and see how it works out for you. Based on what I’ve seen most people that go over 285 tire size have to get a cab mount chop regardless of lift height unless you have a 6 in lift. Then you can clear 35s
i have KO 2's 265 75 r16, with the toyota dealer lift...........looks perfect
Thinking about just getting bilstein 5100s but what should I do for the rear? I’m new to this and don’t know where to start
So I just did a block in the rear. You can do an upgraded leaf pack if you wanted though. That’s the better option
@@JordanMcKeithan I have a rc spacer lift but I’m not going to put in on I don’t think it’s a good option but it came with blocks can I just use that ?
@@fjr962 yeah you can just use the blocks or an upgrade heavy duty leaf pack either one.
@@JordanMcKeithan thx for the reply
@@JordanMcKeithan any way you could link me a site to get the 2in bilstein 5100 that u got?
Man I love the stance and look of this truck and its exactly how I want mine to look. I have the gen 3 2021 TRD OR. How is the ride quality for you? Stiff? Noisy? My truck is my one and only vehicle and I dont want to make it annoying to drive. Im a bit concerned about the tire size. MPG to me isnt a big deal, I care more about it being a good daily driver.
Thanks man, I appreciate that! Ride quality is a little more stiff that factory to be honest but I don’t mind it. It’s certainly not as rough as a puck strut spacer would be. The tires are a little loud on the highway but that’s nothing that music can’t cover up lol.
@@JordanMcKeithan Thanks man! Are you re-geared? If yes what ratio? If not are you OK with how the truck performs without being re-geared?
@@eliasbeas3556 No problem man. I’m not re-geared. The truck definitely needs it. It’s a little slow/sluggish with the bigger tires.
I am looking at 17x8.5mm -10mm wheels and was hoping to get 265/70R17 or down one to 265/65R17 you think I will have issues on a stock trd off road? Should I play it safe and get 16x8 0mm.
It’s hard to say. That tires is pretty small so you might be okay but you might rub a little with the negative offset wheels at stock height.
JUST BUT 17 BY 9 RIMS FOR MY 2002 TOYOTA TACOMA V6 PREERUNNER WHICH SIZE TIRE SHOULD I USED
Im just wondering what is the height of your truck after installing the lift and the 34’s. Will it fit your garage? Thanks for this video.
The truck is clearly shorter than him and he’s about 6 foot. Garage openings are over 7 foot tall.
@Bananahammock88 right, my truck fits in my garage and clears parking decks with a 7 ft clearance
Thanks for the vid. I have the same color truck. Sweet looking truck!
Thanks bro!
Can you send me a link to wear you got your Toyota grill thanks
Thanks. What about 275-65-17 no lift. ?
whats your lift here bro? i watched most of the video but missed it

@@JordanMcKeithan Appreciate it bro
what's the degrees of caster on the Upper control arms?
what front bumper is on this truck ?????
You should turn down the music so we can hear you
Hey man! Sick truck, I have the same color. What rough country are you running? 3.5 lift? Right now I have the 3inch leveling kit from rough country but debating to go 3.5 inch lift
Thanks man! Yeah I’m running the 3.5in lift with the N3 struts!
@@JordanMcKeithan if I have the 3inch leveling kit, what best tire size would run good without any rubbing/cutting issues with the rims I bought from ssw 17x9 -25 offset?
@@Aaronchristiann it’s hard to say man. That’s a heavy negative offset so it would have to be a smaller tire to not rub without any cutting. You could probably get away with -12 offset or less with 285/70/17 maybe without rubbing issues. But to fit 305/70/17 with the -25 offset, I have to do a cab mount chop plus some plastic trimming so they won’t rub.
@@JordanMcKeithan if I go 275/70 will it have rubbing issues with the 3inch? If I plan to go 3.5 will it have rubbing issues with the 275?
@@Aaronchristiann not sure man, it’s kind of a guessing game really. Maybe a little bit of rubbing but it’s hard to judge it until you get them on.
What about 275/70/17 -10 offset 17x8.5 wheels will this rub? On stock suspension 2017 taco. Thank so much
I had that size tire on the trd off road, and I trimmed most of the bottom edge plastic in front and behind the tire. After trimming it didn't rub while turning on a reg flat road but I can't say it won't rub when turn when the wheel is flexed. Also in reverse while turning, you will rub slightly
What’s the gas mileage?
Around 15-16
Great video .Very well said or explained. I do wanna hear your say on my 2019 tacoma trd off road. I have a 285 65 18 with zero offset . What lift size would you recommend . Thank you
Thanks! I’d say 2-3 inch lift should do the trick. Go on the higher size if you want to be safe.
Beautiful Tacoma! Like it lifted and clean
Link to the wheels ? I can not find the exact offset ?
Thank you so much
Same ones as these but in black. Looks like they’re sold out on the RRW website. www.sdwheel.com/buy-wheel-offset/RR6-H-1785-25139-BR/rrw-rr6-h-17x85-25
Clean ride bro. What lug nuts are those?

what is that front bumper you have?
Any other recommendations on UCAs other than the SPCs you are running?
What bumper is that? Looks good
Thanks! It’s the Body Armor 4x4 HiLine Series Front Bumper.
Great vid man, your taco looks sick! Did you do the cab mount chop on your own, or did you have an auto shop do that kind of work?
3 inch lift with 35’s on my tacoma think that would work?
Is it possible to run 285/70r17 with 0 offset on stock suspension?
Probably not. You’d be rubbing like crazy.
I have a 2.25” lift and CMC with that tire size and I don’t rub on full turns and dips. Stock suspension will rub
Any recommendations on a 16” rim?
Awesome video and explains a lot! What are your thoughts on 18x9.5, -18 with 265/60/18 tires? CMC needed w a 2" lift? Or should I stick with 18x8.5, 0 offset?
From what I understand anytime you go with negative offset, it’ll likely rub without a cmc. So if you’re willing to do that, go for it, if not, maybe better to stick with the 0 offset.
Thank you
