Imagine if after you defeat gannon or after you 100% the game you could rebuild hyrule and kill the remaining monsters. Like a bigger version of the tarrey town quest.
I don't like the fact that after I beat ganon the mission still is active.... It annoys me to no end.... They should have made him disappear except for a black orb in the middle of the castle in case I wanted to have a rematch
For some reason it's always been like that in all of the previous Zelda games as well. I guess the whole world being filled with monsters and such wouldn't make any sense otherwise.
AFollowerOfCanti after beating the game I realized there is no point to the game ... nothing changes it’s the same exact thing since I started from the beginning
Henry Gutierrez Luckily I didn’t know the u couldn’t play after Ganon but if I did I wouldn’t have played this game. I am just so damn dissapointed right now like honestly I wouldn’t have cared if the blood moon would be stupid without ganon I just want to tell impa I killed gamom
To be fair if you go to the leaders of each tribe you can unlock a diary that reveals much more about each Champion. Like Revali's feelings of inadequacy and why he dislikes link.
In retrospect, I think the reason why the ending was so bad was due to two reasons: 1. Just bad planning/didn't want to delay anymore. 2. No "aftermath" so that breath of the wild 2 comes as a complete surprise.
@@GalacticStarForge42 Not true. Aonuma approached Koei Temo to make a Calamity based warriors game because the events of The Great Calamity weren’t “properly showcased” in BOTW. Development for AOC didn’t even start until 2018. Having no aftermath in BOTW was just a gateway for the sequel (if the game was poplar enough to get one).

Yeah. It was so disappointing that, other than looking cool, must of the armor was useless. Even when a set of armor had a useful buff, I already had a set that had the same buff but much better defense.
"DLC armor isn't functional enough" When you wear the full Tingle outfit, any NPC you walk near is terrified, staring at "Tingle". If that isn't worth $60 dollars itself without the night speed up, I don't know what is.
But is Dark Link freaking sexy AF? Yeah, it's an irrefutable argument, I know. (It's a joke, since I feel the need to say this since some people on the internet have 0 sense of humor.)
Lazy Blue Shell Since it's made of Sheikah tech, Ganon probably would have corrupted it like he did with the Divine Beasts and Guardians and make it useless.
nark If Link's quick, then yeah. But if he isn't, Ganon could just corrupt it and render it completely useless, or possibly even use it to drain Link's life away.
I think it would’ve been more interesting if instead of the cutscenes of the champions getting recruited it would be replaced by scenes of how they died during their fights with the blights.
@@cocostar319 What are you talking about? Maybe I could understand you if you were talking about a series like Mario, but this is Zelda, a majority of the audience is from 18 to 24, and dark things happen all the time.
The story didn't need to end. But it's a massive flaw that beating Ganon doesn't affect ANYTHING in the game. They could have had a few characters in the game congratulate you afterwards, or a few things changing, or at LEAST have the Calamity removed from the castle.
9:46 I actually disagree. The master cycle is still cool, but in my opinion, with a 5 speed horse, its way better to have the ancient armour horse. Its faster, doesnt require fuel, you can have it anywhere, and you have horseback combat and archery. I use the master cycle on occasion, but I always find myself using a horse to get somewhere. Oh yeah I also feel horses control a bit better, but that might be just me
I think of it a little different. It’s an unkillable horse that is almost as fast as a 5-speed horse, can jump on command and has much less restrictions than a horse. Fuel isn’t that much of an issue, because monster extract is easy and good fuel, but by the time you get it, you have enough monster parts to fully fuel it pretty much always. I agree the control is better on a horse, but the combat is still there.
@@yaboiyeets3721 I found my 5 star speed horse north of upland lindor in hyrule ridge, I'm not exactly sure but u can check this vid for the exact location and details ua-cam.com/video/k2y7x696cUE/v-deo.html
Honestly this whole DLC would be leagues better in my opinion if that damn bike was faster. I really liked the whole quest to get it, even if it was too easy (I even played it in Master Mode) and I was super excited when I finally got to sit on that bike only to think: that's it?
zZiL341yRj736 That's an old ass idea, there are even artworks of link playing a e - guitar, riding a bike etc Giant mechanical robot spiders, a tablet which let's you take photos etc is okay for you? Uhu...
I gotta say the final unlocked memory is one of my favorite moments in the game's story. And in my opinion considerably better than the actual ending! (Daruk's cut-scene was also really endearing)
My daughter loves watching this cut scene and I noticed something today. Peep this. Watch Revali when the lady tells Mipha to relax. Revali looks at Mipha, watches her reaction, looks at Link and grins. It's short and he barely grins but you can see it.
Oblivion horse armor was cosmetic and made shadowmare able to die, this horse armor brings up spurs and allows it to teleport. Research before you complain kiddo.
@@thedood6023 So then it's worse... You're having to pay for things you should be able to achieve or do through gameplay. You're paying for the conveniences of more spurs, and calling a horse to your location. Nintendo is literally no better than ubisoft. Maybe worse than Ubisoft if we consider all their god awful, manipulative and half baked Cellphone games.
@@cottoncherry2177 I just saved up enough and, yep that's it! Buy everything and you get the rest (I LOVE the house, wish I could live there after the calamity :D )
5:23 Actually, Majora's Mask is really useful. In fact, I'd argue it's even more useful than the Korok mask. Instead of having to constantly switch between Bokoblin Mask to Moblin mask, etc; Majora's mask lets you blend in with all monsters (Excluding Octoroks, Wizzrobes, Chuchus, Keese, and Bosses) at the same time.
@@RastaFudge Lynels are smart asses, you can fool them for a bit but as soon as you draw your weapon they'll start attacking you no matter what you wear.
I don't agree that horses become obsolete, the fastest horse in the game is as fast as the master cycle (if not faster). And as you said, it's easier to fight on a horse, as you don't need to slow down to fight. That being said, I still use the master cycle, especially when riding up steep cliffs, which horses can not go up on. Overall, the master cycle is useful for non-flat terrains, at the drawback of speed and fighting convenience.
Would have been way better if you could play as the champions during their corresponding boss battles.. I mean part of the story is that the original champions where killed by the blight Cannons; So getting to revisit that as a champion and set it right would have been cool!
Toons on Strings That's what I thought was going to happen, but alas, Nintendo took the lazy route. Four recycled boss fights and one more laughably easy new boss.
Weirdly enough, the Champion's Ballad version of the Waterblight Ganon was the most difficult for me was. Granted, I did pop a lighting resistance potion before fighting Thunderblight the second time around, which made the fight trivial for me. XD
Pandora I loved the thunderblight Ganon fight. It was the only thing in the game that gave me a challenge besides Lynels. I wish that in master mode it made the fight even faster relying on split second actions in a fight about the difficulty of Dark Souls.
My Master Mode file really benefits from the horse armour since I decided that I wouldn’t use warping at all. It’s completely arbitrary but I honestly enjoy the game more since I only see a loading screen when booting up the game or going into shrines. I can’t just warp to farm things which is great because I never make myself some overpowered grocery store of healing items.
CrazyE except getting a motorcycle, when, in the same expansion, you get horse gear that essentially does the exact same thing that makes the bike useful, is unnecessary.
The difference is that the horse gear is available almost immediately, whereas the motorcycle is one of the very last things you get in a playthrough. I've been playing through the game again since the Champion's Ballad came out and I've been using my horse so much more after getting it.
I've had so much fun with the bike on my 100% save file, just riding around Hyrule and enjoying how good it feels. Plus, on master mode I got it before I did a bunch of stuff, so I'm riding around doing shrines now. But on normal mode, it's still fun and hilarious to ride it.
I think the horse armor doesn't actually max all the stats, just the stamina. I've used my 5 speed horse and a 3 speed horse and they still felt so different. Plus, the horses run faster than the motorcycle if they're 5 speed! I... also have more of a sentimental affection for them so both the cycle and the horse are great to have haha.
I didn't get the game until Xmas 2017, which meant the final DLC came out about the time I started playing! That made the DLC items very rewarding. Def a best enjoyed from start of first play through :)
I think its best to buy the DLC before starting the game. It feels more like its just part of the game and I found it really fun trying to get callbacks to my favorite Zelda games in between divine beast.
Something most reviews I've seen for the Champion's Ballad miss is the additional information on the champions found through the champion's diaries that can be found in the homes of each of the "new champions." They actually give a bit of insight into the motivations and personalities of each of them. For example. Daruk's journal you find out that he was in fact close friends with Link. They had met at one point where Daruk saw Link killing some monsters. After that they bonded over food and Link even tried some Rock Sirloin! Later on when Zelda asked Daruk to be a champion and Zelda had mentioned that the Hylian champion was the greatest swordsman in the land. He instantly knew that she was referring to Link and was relieved that the princess would be protected by his sworn brother. It's also revealed that Link was a prodigy in sword play at the age of FOUR! At 4 he was able to beat many adults with a sword. The information revealed in these diaries combined with the memory of Zelda tending to a scratch on Link's arm after he'd slaughtered what looked like an army of monsters reveals that Link was a BEAST 100 years prior.
Kass even hinted at the new information on the champions, but it's missed by a lot of players. Which is sad. Kinda like Zelda's Diary in the castle, they provide such neat details on the characters outside of the normal game.
thebahooplamaster i was shocked than i see this Lynel right in the begining of the game (in master mode). Why whey even do this? How i'm suppoused to beat him whis bokoblins clubs? What did they thinking? Also master mode is stupid, because the regular (red/brown) bokoblins just desapired from the game completely
José Ignacio Cuevas Barrientos in master mode it says it's removing weak enemies and forcing you to have a harder time, you can't rate it because you are having a too hard time. It's supposed to be difficult
Just another thumbs-up from me.. and wanted to let ya know that I really appreciate all the attention to detail and insightfulness(sp?) that you bring to the videos. I've been in gaming (design/programming, playing) for decades (since the 80s)... Keep up the awesome work.
My problem with the dlc is just how pointless half of it is. Some of it is neat, but the vast majority is just pointless. Why make me wait until literally the end of the game to do the new dlc, when all it is is just a few new shrines and a new dungeon. Why do i care that my powers are boosted or i have a cool motorbike when iv already have to have done everything just to get to it. All the new armor is just crappier versions of the armor we already have. and even more, WHY THE FUCK DOES GANONS ARMOR HAVE A SNEAK BONUS!!!??? i guess it could be a reference to how ganon was invisible in the og nes zelda, but he has been a strong powerful character in every game since.
Boltaan'jistman yeah I got the dlc and played it for a few minutes and then it hit me... Who cares if I upgrade my master sword I have no more enemies to fight. Would have wished they had an endless enemy mode or something like in wind waker when you go into that dungeon looking for that triforce piece on dragon roost island.
Boltaan'jistman I agree. The game is quite empty by itself and they could’ve done something to fill it in, like different modes or areas. Other than that, the DLC’s story wasn’t really a story. It was more of a branch to the champions, but it really didn’t do anything new with them. It just makes me want to actually be with the champions and see them do stuff.
I disagree but my main actual question is: WHY DOES ZANT'S HELMET HAVE AN UNFREEZABLE BONUS????? It's the only bonus out of all amiibo/DLC outfits that makes absolutely no sense in my opinion
The problem is that if you had very worthwhile content, people would complain that that worthwhile content should have just been part of the game and not blocked beyond a transaction wall. You have to find the right balance of worthwhile content that is also optional.
darkmindedsith The peoblem isn't that the content is too worthwhile, just look at Witcher 3's dlcs. The main reason people complain about dlc content not being in the main game is probably because it's so similar to previous games content.
I think you were a bit harsh on the champions ballad story. I thought it was a really good ending to the champions. Even though we barely knew anything about them, just seeing them all together happy was really sentimental for me. Like it made me be part of the champions itself. And the putting up the picture a Link's house was very sweet. For me, the DLC overall added so much flavour to the original game.
MadMan Gaming They can work on both. They can have a separate smaller team working on some new DLC while Aonuma and the rest of the team focuses on the new game
"Pro" tip for trial of the sword: In the rest floors you get after boss fights, you can cut down trees and cook the wood for quarter-heart meals. Y'know, if you're desperate and your food inventory has some extra space
You get rock-hard food if I remember correctly. It's supposed to be a "failure" meal for when you get the ingredients wrong, but it does still heal a quarter heart.
I don’t think you mentioned this but when you refight the divine beast bosses you use the weapons which the champions used 100 years ago. I absolutely love the refights for that. There’s also diaries that appear in the four regions about each of the champions, further expanding their story.
This game is my absolute favorite single player game. Period. And I enjoyed and did not regret a bit, that I have bought the DLC. I have been messing up Hyrule for over 300 hours and I could with hundreds of hours more, if there was some more land to explore. My favorite DLC would have been: simply expanding the borders. Add new parts of the map of, I dunno, 50% the size of the original map. You know, in the top right of the map, there is a path of pretty flat rock, that basically screams to you "you can walk on me" - only to be stopped by an invisible wall. They could have expanded the world along that spot.
i personally feel like the map is large enough, and filled with enough to be occupied for a long while. the 2 things bothered me A LOT: the fact that there isnt enough "story." i feel like there could've been so much more than just a few memories and diaries here and there. not just that, but even when talking to important characters you just sit there looking up at them. i mean i get link is not supposed to talk, but thats not the problem, it just seems like the devs thought we only wanted to fight and explore. and second, and probably the BIG thing, is that the ending sucked. the fight was easy, the ending to the "story" was underwhelming, and you cant really see an aftermath of the battle. you just run around with link not even realizing that he's technically killed ganon before. again, i get that thats how the other games are, but they've changed so much in this game that they couldve at least added a bit of aftermath just to satisfy those who are here for the story.
@@DARKENINGTIMES Indeed, story was very weak, and the ending was quite the disappointment. However, despite me having enjoyed more of those aspects too, I think this game delivers so damn much, that we couldn't feel entitled to have more. The amount of game you get in this for 60 bucks is incredible. I personally like it so much, that I would have bought a DLC, that only delivers a bit more story (without much gameplay) and maybe some cutscenes. Nintendo has always been about the actual playing and the gameplay, less about all of that around, like story. They didn't exceed the minimum by much, what games nowadays need to deliver story-wise, but as insinuated, when the amount of gameplay you get is that huge and well crafted, their argumentation really carries weight. But certainly: The story of Link's Awakening in a package and size of BotW, that would have been insane. Let's see, what the future brings.
@@marcfuchs6938 i wholly agree. i dont think we could necessarily demand more because we're no programmers lol. and yes, we do get an incredibly enjoyable game for the same price as some other pretty trashy games so all-in-all botw is great, i just feel like there must've been some things that they could've improved on, that they didnt. and hopefully they listen to some of the fan grievances this time around with the sequel. you cant please everyone tho, so i hope its either just as good or even better.
@@DARKENINGTIMES I do think it could turn out to be even better, however Nintendo is one of the most ignorant companies out there, and they are never listening for the fans. So whatever happens to BotW2, it won't have to do anything with what fans wanted, but what the devs integrated for one reason or another. It's gonna be one of the very few remaining games I am intending to get for this console.
@@marcfuchs6938 i agree, they often dont look at what the fans want. but the only thing is, i dont think that they'll have a new console within 5 years from now. they're making A SHIT LOAD of money right now from the switch and releasing a new console any time soon would be a stupid business decision.
I'm pretty sure everyone was expecting post game content in DLC 2 given the final cutscenes. Since it was just mid game content it was actually pretty disappointing. The content was just stuff I've already done plenty of times. Redoing the Gannon beasts was pretty lack luster and boring. The shrines were fun but nothing amazing. The last divine beast was fun but pretty easy. I liked the last boss fight though but the reward for all of this is a bike. Huge problem: Most people already explored the entire damn game if you've done all the Divine beasts twice now. So a bike for exploring is literally useless not just because you've been everywhere but because you can just teleport to almost anywhere. I thought Nintendo would be better at DLC. Complete their visions that they often have to cut out to meet deadlines. Instead I got half assed content. Shame.
Ikr i was going to buy the dlc cause i saw the trailer and i thought we were gonna play when the champions were alive i thought we were gonna get more of the story , enemies , BOSSES and ending .....but all i get for an ending is a fucking bike ... A bike in a godamm zelda game ... I love this game but im dissapointed for some of the things they did
TheMrAntoMean "a new original story" combined with the end where Zelda literally says to link "Although ganon is gone for now there is still more for us to do" and said they needed to go to miphas father. Don't come at me saying me an a bunch of others made shit up. No other Zelda game ends like that. On top of that, that isn't even the entire reason the dlc was disappointing.
The Phantom Ganon armor is actually pretty useful. The stall disguise makes exploring or farming at night much less annoying, and the bone attack up bonus can make things like dragonbone moblin clubs downright devastating. The stealth is a nice bonus on top of all that.
Hey Arlo, fellow BotW fanatic here. Doubt you'll read this comment, seeing as I am viewing this video way after it was put out. Loved your gigantic review as it helped motivate me to buy what would finally, after years of trying, be my first zelda game i beat. Botw has been nearly everything i could have wanted and more, but I'm here regarding the dlc. Personally I've loved every single part of the DLC and I think it definitely hold up in my eyes is being worth its price tag of $20. Getting the most of the gear was quite fun, even if I know I won't use it for the most part except on the occasion of cosplay and just if I think of it. Every single shrine from the moment I got the one-hit weapon to the very end was a blast for me that I loved every single one especially having to find them. Fighting the bosses again was fun and it was a good touch that I needed pictures of them for the compendium. I've only done one part of the trial of the sword so far but I love it and the concept. I do wish the one-hit obliterator could be used more but the fact that it was limited made it very special. it was quite the interesting challenge having to use it on the plateau and I think you and I went about it in different ways. I decided to throw caution to the wind. And one little detail that doesn't do much but was missing from your review, is that every time you beat the blights, up to five additional flavor text dialogues are given to you. I will agree that the story is not some Grand adventure and could even be said to be mediocre. I've yet to actually see the ending myself however I know about it. I'm not going to let it sour the experience once it comes through, however. Last thing I want to touch on his about the korok mask, the ancient saddle, and items like the travel medallion. While you bring up good points about them, and how theyre conveniences placed behind a paywall, I personally don't think that there are bad addition. I do think that a lot of the DLC gear is better the earlier you get it, however I'm glad to have these things regardless. And the ancient saddles actually got me riding my horse more often now, as to be honest I don't like how the motorcycle and its engine drowns out the natural ambiance of the world. In fact now I'm using a mixture of motorcycle and horse to explore the map even after having most everything done. I'm checking out all the little nooks and crannies trying to see if there's anywhere I haven't explored anywhere I haven't found. I did the compendium and other things needed for 100% and every single thing has been a blast minus that one damn horse race at the highland stable I do believe. Screw that guy and his extravagant saddle because that mini game is literally broken. I did it anyway. If by some magical chance you or Kane or somebody reads this, well I just like to say that you have been a tremendous source of inspiration and that your videos have helped me during a point in my life where I've been in a very dark place. Thank you, truly. From one man to another.
The Master cycle is cool, but it's kinda useless because you've already explored the majority of the map, maybe if you could get it right after the plateau like the rest of the game where you could go and do anywhere and do anything anytime
I feel like the story writers are a bit pretentious with the whole story line. They think we really feel that emotionally attached to the characters that we will be so happy and satisfied knowing Mipha is nice to kids? They forgot that a story needs an arch, climax, conclusion. Basic stuff guys, you learn it in Elementary school.
A trick I found for trials on the sword was to eat a hearty meal and a mighty meal that lasts 10 to 15 minutes before you start and then you'll start off the first 2 room with a good starting point
The Spirit Tracks armour is definitely great in the early game before you can get Barbarian gear. It's a million times easier to get (just go to some ruins around the castle!) and has pretty decent defense too.
Took me over 12 hours to finish the dlc, longer than a lot of full games. Found it weird that the beginning trial was the hardest of the 3 (in master mode)
great video nice voice, funny handpuppet, great job on the actual review, no annoying fluff cant believe you have 1 mill viewers but ive never seen your content
@Arlo the travel medallion was worth the $20 alone at this point... I couldn't imagine now having that and the ancient saddle before getting the master cycle. All in all the DLC did feel kinda gimmicky, but I loved it! Awesome review!
To anyone who just started the Champions ballot: At first they ask you to defeat the enemies in 4 camps. After defeating each camp a new shrine should appear, but if they don't appear just restart your game. It's a glitch that happened to me so hopefully this can help if you encounter the same glitch
The DLC reminds me of how N64 had the master quest version, although at least in MQ they redid all the dungeons. I got to a point in the normal game near the end where I was so done with going to stables to get my horse that I just flew minecarts around the map. So the teleportation saddle sounds like it'd make horses at least functional. On that note, flying minecarts is probably the best form of travel in the game still.
Btw: The ancient bridal doesn’t max out a horses spurs. It just gives it two extra ones. Yes I tested this with applona 3-5 spurs and ella 5-7 spurs (ella was a special horse from a quest that I won’t spoil but to be clear I named her ella the game doesn’t force you to do that)
I was hoping the sword quest would make the master sword “unbreakable”’. I realise it would break the combat system to an extent but it would still be a nice reward as a piece of late game content.
My only criticism with this game is that loads of NPCs were asking how long I was gonna take to save Hyrule and that it was time to go in and face Ganon and when I did I didn't mind the last cut scene but then it took me back to the menu and the only option was to play from before the fight with Ganon. This made me feel really unsatisfied because I want to reap the rewards of me saving the entire kingdom like maybe getting discounts in shops and everyone is thankful and knows who you are. I think they should've given you an option whether you wanted to load back before Ganon or continue because I wanted to explore the castle when its bright and beautiful
Dabestjoshy I mean I went in with what I thought were moderate expectations, it’s not like I was expecting another 60 dollar experience for only 20 bucks but i was expecting more from the people that made the game of year. I dunno, I hate how hush hush Nintendo was over this dlc pack considering how basic it is only it’s almost like they wanted people to over hype it for themselves by not saying anything g
Very lazy. The garbage "quests" you had to do before entering the pilot trial shrines were nothing but padding, and at the end of each set you just had a recycled boss fight.
As someone who didn’t really play the game at Launch and instead picked it up a few weeks ago and basically played it non-stop, I really like the Champion’s Ballad DLC. It connects extremely well to the base game, and when I finally finished it, I had barely realized it was DLC, which in my opinion makes it pretty good DLC, at least as far as DLC goes.
When I got the DLC I was really looking forward to learning more about the champions. But there is....nothing. We don't learn anything worth knowing. The puzzles were awesome but I wanted to care about the main characters HALF as much as I cared about Sidon. I didnt care about Daruks beta son or lazy Riju who gives you a priceless family heirloom, but not for saving the Guerdo or anything. You get it by taking care of all the things that she doesn't seem to care enough about to take care of herself. I can't imagine Sidon hearing of a woman's husband who was dying then ignoring her or pawning off killing a Molduga to someone else. Dude would have been out there quick fast and in a hurry and killed that Molduga before his dinner cooled off. The voice actor for Sidon was asked what he thinks Sidon does in his spare time and he instantly said, "he helps people." Edit: the diarys are fun to read but im biased. When I got the DLC I had beaten the game twice (once on accident) and the diarys just repeat what you know if you know all the memories.
I haven't wanted to go back to replay BotW, great as it is, after my 140 hours the first time. There's no post-game content, and I haven't even bothered to get the DLC because of the statement you made, which I came to the same conclusion "why do I want to buy DLC to power up a character for which there is nothing else to do except find korok seeds? I've done everything else. There's no post-game, defeating Ganon doesn't make the old enemies go away and like... it'd have been nice if after Ganon, the game encouraged you to continue because of some other continual threat that is trying to fill a "power vacuum" Ganon left after his defeat. Or had a LOT of quests open up like the Dragon Quest games do. You beat Dragon Quest XI after like 80 or 100 hours only to find out 40+ more hours of quests and side quests open up, and the game RECOGNIZES you've beaten its main quest. Elder Scrolls games recognize you've beat their main quest and allowed continued play in THAT environment, too.
Mipha's DLC scene gave me the very unsettling notion that she knew she was going to die. Not that it was a strong possibility, but the way she talks about the future makes it seem like it was an absolute certainty in her mind.

I just wish you could upgrade the DLC armor. It wouldn't be overpowered because you still have to find the great fairies and collect materials.
Yeah, they had an opportunity to prolong the game even more, but they chose not to for some reason :/
Yeah. It was so disappointing that, other than looking cool, must of the armor was useless. Even when a set of armor had a useful buff, I already had a set that had the same buff but much better defense.
Yeah if they just made it harder to upgrade than the normal stuff, that would be fair. I really wish I could run around in that Royal Guard set.
I wish we had the ability to dye them as well...
Especially that Royal Guard armor, could even see us dying it
"DLC armor isn't functional enough"
When you wear the full Tingle outfit, any NPC you walk near is terrified, staring at "Tingle". If that isn't worth $60 dollars itself without the night speed up, I don't know what is.
Also, the royal guard outfit is the balls.
Sure that doesn't counterbalance the fact it's ridiculous you can't upgrade them, but royal guard outfit.
my thoughts exactly.
CrazyE Dark Link outfit does that too and it is free.
But is Dark Link freaking sexy AF?
Yeah, it's an irrefutable argument, I know.
(It's a joke, since I feel the need to say this since some people on the internet have 0 sense of humor.)
CrazyE or....your not funny
Story wise, the One-Hit Obliterator would have been really useful on Calamity Ganon.
Lazy Blue Shell Since it's made of Sheikah tech, Ganon probably would have corrupted it like he did with the Divine Beasts and Guardians and make it useless.
SwitchNinja2 but then wouldn't he only take one hit to kill?
nark If Link's quick, then yeah. But if he isn't, Ganon could just corrupt it and render it completely useless, or possibly even use it to drain Link's life away.
SwitchNinja2 i meant if Ganon corrupts it, won't Ganon also only be able to take 1 hit?
Ganon is more or less one hit anyway...very weak in comparison to the blight ganons
I think it would’ve been more interesting if instead of the cutscenes of the champions getting recruited it would be replaced by scenes of how they died during their fights with the blights.
No.
well age of calamity has that now except with them getting saved last second ig
@@cocostar319 What are you talking about? Maybe I could understand you if you were talking about a series like Mario, but this is Zelda, a majority of the audience is from 18 to 24, and dark things happen all the time.

Brian Preston No, that was a first impressions video.
no, he totally did a full review. But again, you might have to wait a few years for me to get that link ;)
found it yet?
Personally, I do use the horse more, but if Im traveling cross-country, it's the cycle. Plus, its free Bullet Time anywhere.
Ok how do you get a five speed horse? I mean I thought Zelda’s horse was good, but it only has max stamina, not speed.
It might just be that I’m inexperienced, but taming horses seems overly difficult. Maybe I’ll be able to get a 5 speed horse some day…

Honestly this whole DLC would be leagues better in my opinion if that damn bike was faster. I really liked the whole quest to get it, even if it was too easy (I even played it in Master Mode) and I was super excited when I finally got to sit on that bike only to think: that's it?
tormentor91 the problem is the bike is at the moment too fast for the game. Causing freezes because the speed is not registered by the game.
tormentor91 Fucking bike in a Zelda game, kind of doesn't fit in. You people are fucking ok with this?

I would’ve liked it more if it could fire lasers. I mean, it’s a freaking DIVINE BEAST!!!
I gotta say the final unlocked memory is one of my favorite moments in the game's story. And in my opinion considerably better than the actual ending! (Daruk's cut-scene was also really endearing)
Haha it kinda was, wasn't it?
Also it was great to see Link hang the picture in his house!
It made me cry so muuuch
My daughter loves watching this cut scene and I noticed something today. Peep this. Watch Revali when the lady tells Mipha to relax. Revali looks at Mipha, watches her reaction, looks at Link and grins. It's short and he barely grins but you can see it.
Wait. You're telling me that Breath of the Wild now has Horse Armor DLC? Don't we make fun of Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion for that?
I know right? Dude, its definitely a new generation of gamers now. Nobody even noticed that we're supposed to be excited about horse armor?
Oblivion horse armor was cosmetic and made shadowmare able to die, this horse armor brings up spurs and allows it to teleport.
Research before you complain kiddo.
Complain? I think someone didn't realize it was a joke.
@@thedood6023 So then it's worse... You're having to pay for things you should be able to achieve or do through gameplay. You're paying for the conveniences of more spurs, and calling a horse to your location. Nintendo is literally no better than ubisoft.

Actually, Majora's Mask is really useful.
By bosses what do you mean? Because it doesn’t work with lynels or guardians.
How do you get the korok mask?
@@RastaFudge Lynels are smart asses, you can fool them for a bit but as soon as you draw your weapon they'll start attacking you no matter what you wear.
@@obscvre i even just picked up a monster part and a lynel went berserk on me xD
Years later but...Age of Calamity lets you do this
"These guys aren't hard"
EXCUSE YOU. Thunderblight Ganon was a freaking nightmare, BOTH times.
The first time I fought Thunderblight it was this nightmare you speak of, but now it's a piece of cake.
I really liked thunderblight ganon. It was the first boss I took on and I only had like 4 hearts.
Yeah Waterblight was a goddamn pain in the Champion's Ballad. The platforms make it all more difficult than even Thunderblight imo
Thank you Arlo! Your objectivity and fairness in describing both DLC packs was refreshing and much appreciated.
“3 Daruks out of a tingle Link”
Wow, pretty high rating
Why do you need defense when you have max hearts, can dodge and parry everything? Looking cool > defense IMO
The Trial of the Sword, final boss of the 2nd DLC pack, and the MOTORCYCLE make it all worth it.
I've been playing through the game again since the Champion's Ballad came out and I've been using my horse so much more after getting it.
ztsb45 the bike is better on less even terrain.
The motorcycle is pointless if you have nothing left to drive it to. Which is the case for those who were 100% complete before the 2nd dlc
It doesn't max anything. You get two extra spurs from the bridle and the saddle give your horse the ability to be summoned anywhere.
Don't forget to feed them some endura carrots, you can increase the spur count even further!
Why do I like you so much better than humans?

The information revealed in these diaries combined with the memory of Zelda tending to a scratch on Link's arm after he'd slaughtered what looked like an army of monsters reveals that Link was a BEAST 100 years prior.
linkblade0 where can I find the diaries?
In the hometowns of the champions.
You can find Mipha's diary in the throne room in Zora's Domain.
Revali's in Teba's house.
Daruk's in Yunobo's house.
Urbosa's in Riju's room.
Kass even hinted at the new information on the champions, but it's missed by a lot of players. Which is sad.
Kinda like Zelda's Diary in the castle, they provide such neat details on the characters outside of the normal game.
Diaries, huh? so they..TELL YOU the story, not show you. You realize Arlo brought that up as a story criticism already.

For me, the DLC overall added so much flavour to the original game.
when this review finally comes out it's gonna be like 5 hours long.

Thackery Scroggins Zelda IS my favorite series, but I didn't like this entry. Not bothering with the DLC.
Huge problem:
Most people already explored the entire damn game if you've done all the Divine beasts twice now.
I love this game but im dissapointed for some of the things they did
If you expected post-game content then you were conditioned by the sensationalist media to expect that; an issue Nintendo has nothing to do with.
Basically better sheikah armor
They kept all the story for the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity game :) ...
If they have all DLC including main game with a goty edition for less price it will be worth it
Hey Arlo, fellow BotW fanatic here.
I loved the Champions Ballad. Surprised you didn’t mention the diary entries because to me they added the most to the games story.
That's stupid. If you want to show new stuff for the game's plot, freaking show it! I don't want to read it out of a diary.
Nasser Abouelazm They teach film and story in Elementary School? Hmm, I might have to enlist...
They didn't try at all with this game's story lol
I just felt like they are leaving it open to finish in the next game
It doesn't really need it tho tbh
A trick I found for trials on the sword was to eat a hearty meal and a mighty meal that lasts 10 to 15 minutes before you start and then you'll start off the first 2 room with a good starting point
Fun fact the wind waker shirt makes the korok leaf wind thing stronger
I wouldn’t say the ending is butt I’ll say if you really want the story read their diary’s
legend of zelda reader of diaries coming to a game store near you
The Spirit Tracks armour is definitely great in the early game before you can get Barbarian gear. It's a million times easier to get (just go to some ruins around the castle!) and has pretty decent defense too.
Took me over 12 hours to finish the dlc, longer than a lot of full games.
Found it weird that the beginning trial was the hardest of the 3 (in master mode)
Just 2.000 For 200K Subscribers Arlo, Congratulations!
great video
nice voice, funny handpuppet, great job on the actual review, no annoying fluff
cant believe you have 1 mill viewers but ive never seen your content
Champions ballad is a lot of Good times
Unless you hate chessy rhymes
@Arlo the travel medallion was worth the $20 alone at this point... I couldn't imagine now having that and the ancient saddle before getting the master cycle. All in all the DLC did feel kinda gimmicky, but I loved it! Awesome review!
“The trial of the sword is never so challenging that you want to just quit forever”
Excuse me, what planet of immense skill are you from?
Trial of the sword is basically impossible on master mode too
To anyone who just started the Champions ballot: At first they ask you to defeat the enemies in 4 camps.
IT'S GOT A LIGHT?! *takes it to Typhlo Ruins*
Butternut squash? YES PLEASE!
Yee
A ‘take more damage’ mode would just equal getting one shotted by everything. lol
Btw: The ancient bridal doesn’t max out a horses spurs. It just gives it two extra ones. Yes I tested this with applona 3-5 spurs and ella 5-7 spurs (ella was a special horse from a quest that I won’t spoil but to be clear I named her ella the game doesn’t force you to do that)
😐
I was hoping the sword quest would make the master sword “unbreakable”’. I realise it would break the combat system to an extent but it would still be a nice reward as a piece of late game content.
So you're still doing a full review? (Please)
Johnny Is cool did you watch the video he said in the first minute...
Nick Whittle I hate youtube comments.

Its been awhile guys. It would be no surprise if he decided to move on from this.
conker466 he’s still doing it lol
Hello my blue friend! You've just made my day!
Gh0sti_ the.one that made it 51
The one
I was late to this game and after beating it and getting all the shrines I bought the DLC and have enjoyed it so far.
Also great reveiw Arlo!
We all do
5:11 all of them are useless except majora's ,ask. i find myself using that thing a lot.
I was kinda disappointed of the second dlc
Bman360 same :/
they kinda just threw it at us 2 with that download tonight reveal but then again maybe they didn't want to over hype
Having high expectations wouldn't help. I went in without expecting too much, and I came out satisfied.
PRL 412
I guess advertising for it could've been more specific, and therefor less disappointing for some
I kinda feel like the champions ballad was pretty lazy and idk if anyone felt underwhelmed too
Lazy? You get a fucking motorcycle? What about it was lazy? Also it came in a $20 expansion pass... What were you expecting?
Very lazy. The garbage "quests" you had to do before entering the pilot trial shrines were nothing but padding, and at the end of each set you just had a recycled boss fight.
@@nickhotaling270 just compare it to Witcher 3 dlc you get a second game for $12 here you just get a fkn bike
It's four enemy camps not three
As someone who didn’t really play the game at Launch and instead picked it up a few weeks ago and basically played it non-stop, I really like the Champion’s Ballad DLC. It connects extremely well to the base game, and when I finally finished it, I had barely realized it was DLC, which in my opinion makes it pretty good DLC, at least as far as DLC goes.
You can drift with the Master Cycle Zero while holding the A and B button at the same time.
Just got the Master Sword should I download the DLC or finish the game and fight Ganon?
The voice actor for Sidon was asked what he thinks Sidon does in his spare time and he instantly said, "he helps people."
Edit: the diarys are fun to read but im biased. When I got the DLC I had beaten the game twice (once on accident) and the diarys just repeat what you know if you know all the memories.
How's yunobo beta? He's badass and has real character growth.
Elder Scrolls games recognize you've beat their main quest and allowed continued play in THAT environment, too.
the funny thing is that the goddes statues have unique text when you talk to them with maxed health and stamina
Your idea is actually amazing! Imagine you playing before Gannon in a nice castle and going on quest with the champions. Amazing.
The Lynel is the "no fun allowed" enemy.
Lynels are very easy for me, but i am good at games i guess
A title previously held by Sylvalum Xe-Doms.
Mipha's DLC scene gave me the very unsettling notion that she knew she was going to die. Not that it was a strong possibility, but the way she talks about the future makes it seem like it was an absolute certainty in her mind.
I wanted to quit forever after getting to the last level of the final trial and died.
I JUST REALISED THE ENDING Omg I forgot that the castle is still a Gannon it's really sad that they didn't invest more in the story LEST GO BOTW DLC PART 3
The new outfits are actually pretty good to use if u start a new master mode file especially the phantom armor that helps a lot to start master mode
