If you nock an arrow near a torch or fire, you can light it and use it like a fire arrow, albeit less explosively. Metallic objects like crates and chests do hella damage, especially if you use motion controls as opposed to the right stick. If you look for something with the Sheikah sensor, Wolf Link can help you track it to its source once you get a ping. Wolf Link recovers hearts by eating meat. He will hunt for himself, but you can also feed him to keep him alive. There's not necessarily one way to solve a given shrine. Not all armor sets need to be improved to grant a set bonus. When it rains, you can drop metal weapons for enemies to pick up so that lightning can strike them. In hot regions like Death Mountain, you can cook food by throwing it directly on the ground as if it were a wok. You can cook certain foods by putting them in hot springs. You can also prepare food using fire and ice weapons on your prey. Scoring a headshot on wild game usually awards extra meat. The Woodland Tower has a Royal Claymore planted in the top of it that will consistently respawn. The Ash Swamp has a cluster of several Travelor's Claymores which, while low on damage, will do in a pinch. When targeted by multiple Guardians, you can use one as cover from the others. Cutting off Guardians' legs produces springs and other drops, which can ultimately net more pickups than simply targeting the eye or torso. Equipping the Meteor Rod provides some cold resistance. Rather than ruin your weapons mining, find a sledgehammer. You can also mine with bombs. Just be warned, this will scatter the ore. The abandoned house in Hateno village is a consistent source of sledges. You can also use bombs to fell trees, kill enemies, kill wild game, and -my favorite- go redneck fishing! Epona runs faster and farther than any other horse in the game. You can also register her to summon her at stables. If you see an enemy base or platform in a tree, you can probably chop down the tree. You can also strategically weaponize falling trees. If you're stealthy, you can steal from a Hinox without waking it up. If you use Magnesis near water, it can help you find submerged treasure. Stand near orange pinwheels to find Koroks. Some challenges are obvious, like target balloons. Others are subtle, like tiny/distant targets. Look around.
i love how the only time when link has any sort of expression is in the most minor task like for example; taking a selfie gaining stamina back throwing a random fucking mushroom that may or may not be drugged into a bowl and cooking heroin successfully
I experienced it when I did not even want to use a bow: I was teleporting to a shrine and my bow started burning. Naturally I wanted to save it and change to Knight's Bow but I had Bomb arrows equipped which were immediately drawn and promptly ended that attempt.
If you get frozen with no stamina left and happen to fall into water, the game actually allows you to float like an iceberg, you can get your stamina back, break the ice by shacking, then swim away uncathed.
I have 570 hrs through the game all side quests (except special delivery) shrines, outfits (No amiibo :( ) all memories, Hylian Shield, fully charged Master Sword ,all DLC stuff, and yet I didn't know that you can float in cold water frozen without stamina!
I’ve found you can train your horse to jump more effectively by petting it each time it lands a jump. My horse will jump over pretty much every piece of terrain now without even so much as flinching.
While paragliding, have your Sheikah Slate rune set to remote bombs and press L to drop a bomb below you and detonate it. Great for bombing enemy camps from above.
@Luke Lanides yeah if they didn't know you could pull out bombs midair, they might as well search up this cool trick and learn it. Its rather easy once you know how to do it
Me: "Oh boy! I'm so glad I got my favorite horse, Goober, back after I accidentally killed him while facing a swarm of Moblins early in the game!" Horse: "HELL IS REAL! HELL IS REAL!"
@itsameAlex ive been a zelda fan since oot in 1997-98, and ima tell ya, this is by far the best game they made in general. u prob only like older better becuz of the nostalgia, but if that feeling was out of the way, this game has more than any of the others and was made really well along with the largest map allowing me to enjoy the game a long time. it is generally gonna be the best zelda game becuz it had what oot did plus wayyyyy more. thats the majority opinion, giving it a majority vote of being the best zelda game created despite of what u think or not. good day to u sir :^)
This is nothing. In a tempest, you can be hit by a thunder if you wear metal stuff. Unequip everything metal but your sword and throw it on you enemy just a second before the thunder hits you, the thunder will follow your metal sword and hit the enemy if you have the right timing :;D
YEP. Took me a while to figure out who was shooting at me when I pulled out the bow until I realized that it was my bomb arrows blowing up in my face...
Oddly enough, fire arrows DO work in the rain. I tried it out last night, it blew up a barrel by an enemy camp like normal. Why do those work but not bomb arrows? You'd think the fire on the arrow would be put out by the rain. It makes no sense.
By holding it above your head. The enemy might hit you though so it might not be the safest way to kill enemies but it looks fun xD There's a gif floating around the internet.
Watch videogamedunkey's Breath of the Wild video. He shows a lot of cool tricks in it, including tricking a moblin into attacking a cucco. I think that's where the gif comes from, in fact.
They game autosaves if your battery life runs out or if you prematurely pressed the Power button. Using the Stasis module allows you to scan the area for suspicious stones (Korok Seeds, Boulders or stone plates) and also chests underwater. Having it upgraded even scans for enemies so you'll never be ambushed by camoflaged enemies ever again. Destroy all the legs of a walking Guardian for triple loot and make it helpless, as you always stay on his blindside while attacking. Your bomb module can destroy breakable boulders, ores and even trees, so save up your axe's endurance for enemies!
FYI with the amiibos, like the video says, when you use the link amiibos you have a chance to get their clothes, but you can only do it once per day and getting the clothes like that is annoying, however you can save your game before using your amiibos. Use your amiibos to see what you get, if you didn't get what you were looking for, you can reload your save file as many times as you want until you get what your looking for. Once you get what you want with your amiibo you then wait 24 hours to use it again and then do the same thing until you have they're set.
MrMetroidDread with my original smash bro's link of me though I lost my horse do I have to go to the great Feritti get it back because I never registered it please let me know because I love riding links horse
One thing you didn't mention is that holding ZL and tilting the left stick while taking selfies gives access to four more poses, some of which change depending on which gear (Melee, shield, bow) you do or don't have equipped. It's great for adding sweet images to the Weapons Compendium once you unlock it. :)
I just discovered that you can change your *Horse's appearance and gear!* At some (but not all) stables, you can find a female hylian tending the horses. Talk to her while your on you're horse. The only thing is she would only customize if the horse has a strong bond with you so choose a horse that has MAX bond. She can change the mane color/type, bridle, and saddle. You can receive an *Extravagant Bridle* from *Blynne* in the same stable by beating his time in the horse course. Also, if you catch the royal horse, an old man near that stable would give you the royal saddle & briddle.
they did, the great plateau is like the tutorial of the game, and the rest just gets harder. If not for some tips in-game, you actually need to find out stuff on your own
ItsameAlex I've never completed a zelda game until this one. I recommend playing it through because just playing normally bring all sorts of amazing distractions that lead to discoveries made purely because of my curiosity. I think that makes a game stand out
I found a traveling merchant who was walking around Akkala and Tarrey Town, and it was a lightning storm at the time. HE WAS SELLING ANCIENT CORES AND GUARDIAN MATERIALS.
WHAT! I needed that soooo badly.... I did a questline which required me to get an ancient core..... I had to literally storm Hyrule castle and slay EVERY guardian I came across! Including Castle Town! I managed to get a single one after around 30 of them.....I used sooooo many arrows.....
i cant stop playing this game. even when I actually have to go outside and be an adult I cant stop thinking about it. I just think about what I am doing to go next when I start playing again haha.
I'm going thru this feeling rn! Just graduated college and I'm supposed to be job searching but I'm spending all my waking hours playing botw and I love it
Let's start a secret sharing thread...and...GO! To save yourself time you can hit a tree with a fire weapon and it will create a campfire without wasting flint or wood!
if you follow a shooting star you can find star fragmen worth 300 rupies only found 4 got one from the zelda smash bro's amibo, you can get epona from link as well.
With proper timing, you can reflect a Guardian's laser back at them for massive damage. All you have to do is block with your shield and press A when the laser is near you. This works with any shield, even a pot lid.
i once got on a lyen the massive centare looken ceatures with max sealth and firing fire arrows away from it to keep his attenchen then for like a frame Mount can appear if yr luck i gusse the game Freaks out and thnks their a hourse they drain stamina fast as hell man ive only been able to do this once so yea
There is a way easier way to get the blue flame to the furnace in Akkala. You just need to throw the lit torch down the mountain then again across the river. You'll avoid so many enemies.
yes, there is an anti goddess statue somewhere that will buy a heart or stamina vessel from you for 100 rupees and then when you talk them again they will sell you a heart or stamina vessel for 120 rupees. so the exchange essentially costs you 20 rupees. but I'm not sure where it is.
did you do that quest from Dueling Peaks stable to find Niska's Treasure? There's a shrine on the way to finding the treasure as well. Anyway, the little forest you go through to find that shrine and that treasure has at least 2 bears roaming around in it. They are aggressive.
Actually, the game does tell you all these things. Except maybe the shield arrow one. But the others are either on the load screen tips or are told to you by travelers. Like the horse reviving one.
I remember fighting fireblight and I was using my bomb arrows but I didn’t understand and I thought it was the blights attacks so I got really mad and after 30 minutes I realised how stupid I am
EXTRA HITS THE GAME Doesn't TELL YOU; 1: if you soak your yourself in water, you are immune to fire for a short period of time. 2: Dogs can lead you to treasure of offer them 3 pieces of fruit/meat.(I learned this by thinking it would help me get a dog as a companion, but nope just leads me to treasure.) 3: When facing up against a "Rock Octorok" if you throw a rusty item at it. It will return it as brand new. 4. Look out for Shooting Stars, they can be use for recipes or upgrade items. 5: A skeleton arm can be used like a boomerang by throwing it. Finally 6: Try opening a treasure chest without leg armor and see what happens lol. That's all I the tips I can give that I found out while playing.
When I fought Gabon it was like in an movie. I fell off my horse and when I ran back trying to get him he got shot by one of the laser beams and killed. #NEVERFORGET
For early swimming problems, just use your ice power to freeze columns at a fair distance, they jump from each one and hang glide most of the distance between them. No need for rafts if none are nearby.
I've actually done that. I rode a bear, wearing only my boxers and a bandana, armed with a mop and a pot lid as I battled a giant skeletal cyclops that threw its own ribs at me. I love this game. Oh, and you can also ride undead skeleton horses. It's pretty sweet :)
*+ QT munchkin* The Wooden Mop is a weapon that Bokoblins sometimes wield. The Outpost Ruins and the forest outside of Hateno are good places to look for one. Additionally, Kilton will eventually stock them at the Fang & Bone, making the Wooden Mop one of the few purchasable weapons in the game.
QT munchkin There is one that is in Hateno Village by the farm house too. I have found hoes and other fun weapons around that farm too. :-) Search the areas between the farm house next to the sheep and cow field and the house below it on the hill.
This is a worthy competitor for best action RPG against the Witcher 3. I've missed games like this that include secrets and aren't afraid to let you loose without holding your hand. Alot of games today just lack depth.
heres some tricks ive found unlike the other amiibo's the Wolf Link amiibo can actually be used over and over more than once a day(as long as wolf Link doesn't die). Ive found if you're ever mobbed by a guardian and know its going to lazerbeam your sweet Hylian ass until you're a pile of ash, if you're quick enough you can Summon Wolf link as a distraction, depending on how many hearts wolf link has will affect how many guardian shots he can take before he dies and vanishes back into his world. I have a load of hearts on mine so Wolf link can take about three to four hits before its game over for him. Gurdians will always go for the thing attacking it, so you could use Wolf Link as bait while you lop off its legs while mounted on horseback you can probably tip one over. I would suggest having a Guardian sheild as a back up tho, just to be safe. and while im on the topic of horses also you can actually travel with two horses at once, of you're riding around and see a wild horse you like but don't want to leave the one you're on behind. you can actually travel with both of them catch and tame the wild horse until its max bond and obeys you without question and wont wander off when you dismount (you can do this really fast by feeding it a buttload of apples or carrots if you feel lazy and dont want to run it, you know its maxed if it starts doing that adorable snuffing at you when your near it and wont wander off) move the newly tamed wild horse a decent distance away from your saddled one, dismount, whistle, then quickly mount the unsaddled one and start moving , as long as you dont stop and a monster dosn't attack you you can travel safely with both horses to your nearest stable to regster your new friend, I would recomend maintaining a trot since you can keep an eye on your saddled horse to make sure its still behind you. don't bother keeping a bokoblin's horse, they're usually pretty weak. also shoot the horse not the rider, it will always throw them off. make it a bomb arrow if you really wanna make sure they wont get back on horses with blazes (white stripe down the face) and socks (white hooves), gold or black manes tend to be pretty darn good. soothe your horse after a jump to get them sweet bond points. feeding your horse helps boost bond as well, they will only eat apples, swift carrots and endura carrots. feeing a horse an endura carrot gives it 3 extra, tho temporary spinting spurs, feed them to horses with at least five spurs and you can run for daaaays. The Lord of the Mountain will bugger off at the first signs of trouble or if lightning strikes near it, so If you're using it for an adventure travel with caution. you can actually ride your horse into the lost woods without setting the grass on fire since you wont be using a torch to guide your way, you find your way into the lost woods by follwing the directions the wind blows the embers, your horses tail reacts to the wind the same way, its best to walk but as long as the horses tail is being blown between its legs you know you're going in the right direction, and dont worry, even if you get lost in the fog you'll stay together. if you have no fire arrows you can make and/or find fire then use it to set regular arrows on fire, you can also light a torch then drop it and used that to light your arrows on fire. if you want to make alot of small healing items like seared meat or baked apples, you can speed cook things on death mountain, go to where the air gets hot and drop your goods. you can only do ten things at once (two armfuls) so don't go spilling all the things out of your pants. when its a blood moon your food is garenteed to be a "critical success" (basically really strong), make a buck load of food as quickly as you can with faries and you will be set for health and buffs forever. you can catch fish easily using bombs, chuck a bomb where the fish are, detonate then go collect their floating bodies, go dynamite fishing. you're welcome. broken wood cutting axe? use bombs. it takes two, one to down the tree and one to blast it into a wood bundle the cobble crusher line of blunt swords and sledge hammers are the untimate hanging fruit collecters, just give the tree a good smack and watch it rain apples/coconuts/durians (careful with the apples around horses because you will find your trusty steed may snag some of your harvest). you can take shelter from a lightning storm under the enclove of an open shrine, you can also light fires inside them to speed time as well. one way to make lots of rupees is to farm and sell diamonds, theres a zora in the zora's domain that will trade ten Luminous stones for a diamond, go mining and load up on Luminous stones and trade them to a zora called Ledo, hes the green one thats always tapping on the glowing pillars or front gate. only down side is he will litterally count each one of them every single time so get ready to mash the A button alot. on the up side, diamonds. the Drillshaft spear is the best for mining. it last longer than a sledge hammer and it has better range so you can catch those escapee gems before they go rolling down the hill. if you see a Dog feed it any kind of meat, the dog will sometimes lead you to a burried chest. not all dogs will lead you to a chest tho, so if youre low on meat best to go hunting before feeding it. there are recipies for really good healing items on Posters on walls inside some buildings, such as the meat stew recipie on the wall in Hudson's house in Tarry town for example. either take a note of them or snap a pic if you have difficulty remembering them.
The arrow tip is even better once you have the upgraded Sheikah Sensor. Just take a picture of an arrow, then set it as your target after battles; it'll lead you to every arrow left on the ground. Also good for getting the shock arrows from the Lynel for Vah Ruta.
1. You can make camp fires by holding a a flint and wood, then striking it with your sword. 2.You probably know you can melt ice shooting fire arrows. But if you create a fire and then use that fire to light your arrow you can approach the ice and melt it faster without shooting/losing your arrows.
Also, flaming swords can light fires if you're out of flint. Shock arrows and electric weapons can activate electric switches in dungeons, and fire arrows/swords can burn plants in dungeons. Killing Chuchus with any elemental weapon will give you chuchu jelly of that type. Ancient arrows will kill almost any creature, so if you get trapped in a fight with something too strong for you, this could save you *cough cough, darn Lynel*
It's so satisfying to watch one of the toughest enemies in the game evaporate into thin air, on the other hand you don't get any loot that way, but I usually end up using far more valuable weapons trying to beat him then what he drops after defeat anyways..
You can melt an ice crystal just by standing next to it with a flame blade equipped. Also, frostblades and fireblades can be used to keep you cool/warm in the desert/mountains. Very handy if you don't have the protective gear.
Just saying, the ancient arrow DONT kill the lynel, just makes him disappear,if you teleport to another place and then get back at where the lynel was,he is there (no blood moons)
This is something I found really cool and useful. Did you know that holding a flamesword in the cold regions counts as a piece of clothing or a campfire? I use it so I can keep my climbing gear on. It's also useful for starting immediate fires. The Coliseum has a few of these swords, just beware of the Lynel lurking around!!
Denz Snackar I heard that if you put on the monster equipment from Kilton onto the Lord of the Mountain, you can register it. I never tried it, so I can't confirm... I was only able to get to the Lord of Mountain once... still waiting for the Light to appear again so I could try it
so much details to this game. This is one of these games that take you back to the 90s, where you actually need a guild book to discover shit, you wouldnt even know. lol
There is so much to do in this game at times is overwhelming. Love the fact that it doesn't hold your hand but the amount of hidden secrets will surely pass thru me.
In storms, enemies holding metallic weapons can get struck by lightning. Just make sure you aren't standing too close to them... I noticed this in the colloseum, I went up to the top floor after a lightning storm and two of the moblins had just been reduced to weapons and monster parts.
Bekah N you can also use your own metal weapons as lighting bombs, you just wait for it to charge in a storm and just drop it buy an enemy when you know it's going to strike
has anyone seen these creatures in breath of wild they look like neon glow in the dark jackalopes? if you do happen to see one run up to it and hit it with your sword as many times as you can because they will drop a crap ton of rubies. No joke, I came across a couple of these and was only able to catch up with one once.
LT.hippie It always spawns in kakariko village for me whenever I travel to the shrine there and walk towards the fairy fountain. Every time. I've only been able to hit it 3 times though. But apparently you can kill it (iirc).
Alex Manning yes same here. I'm not sure where I run into them but I usually only see one by itself and they Scurry off really fast I can only get a couple hits in and get a few rubies and then they're gone.
Handy tip for finding Link's memories (Without online). In Kakariko, there's the artist guy that wants to find the Great Fairy Fountain, go to it and then come back to him. He'll then tell you all about the areas to get them. What's better, is that if you find a stable, the memories will be extremely close to that place and the artist will point you in the right direction.
You can backflip to dodge an attack and get a flurry rush if you do it at the right time. Also if you press A while holding your shield out you can do a attack back towards the opponent. Very useful for blight ganons and guardians
Fun fact If you want kill an guardian really fast the second you see the blue flash you can deflect the laser by pressing a with the shield it's hard to get use to good luck
Using Amiibos summons metal chests, which could be utilized in puzzles to skip some of it's mechanics easily?! You could beat Ganon in a speed run using amiibos!
Fish run away from you when you whistle. Using proper positioning and the cryosis rune you can use this to beach a ton of fish at once for easy fish. You can also carry a cucco with you from wherever you find one and if you manage to trick an enemy into attacking it, they will attack the enemy instead of you.
Something I wish I knew: The fires and the torch in the Korok forest are there for a reason. If you light the torch the wind will blow the flame in a certain direction. Follow it and you will get to the Deku Tree without vanishing in the fog.
You can use a chicken as a weapon, just pick one up and if an enemy attacks you while holding it the chicken will attack the enemy, credit goes to videogamedunkey
This game is genius i just got it for my switch and cant put it down. the fact that a lot of these tricks arent taught to you and you can find them out yourselves is part of its beauty
If you use stasis you can find items boxes and rocks in the dark, also you can stop enemies on the spot, you might hate the Guardians but you can use stasis to see witch ones are active!
I've seen folks talking bad about this game and I don't understand it. I've said before this game is worth the money. There is so much to do and at different times for different results. There is so much to discover. If you're a real lover of adventure games this would be a plus rather than a negative. it seems people just want to do the bare minimum and speed through to the end. why? I've seen people complain under other folks vids that they're doing too many side quests, talking too much to people and "wandering around" too much. smh. If you want a fast game why play an adventure game? I've also learned to take your armor off when out in the middle of a field during a lightning storm. Doh!! lol
Chama B. I think you are right. The people who are complainin' should play Dragonball Z,Tekken 6,Street Fighter or even Monster Hunter to lessen the SALT in the Netizen community.
If you're attempting to get the special armor or a certain weapon from the amiibos, it's smart to save first and just reload your last saved data (make sure it isn't an auto save) until you get it. It's also good to note that all of the Zelda amiibos give you a chance to win a Star Fragment, which is used to upgrade ALL of the special armor you get from the Link and Shiek amiibos. It can take a long time to get it, spent about 40 mins trying to get three Star Fragments from my Zelda amiibos yesterday, but it's way easier than attempting to find them in the wild.
I found out you can use a chest to propel a raft forward with magnises; by wedging the chest on the back of the raft, then pulling it in with magnises it will propel you forward and you don't have to worry about the wind either.
I wish I would've known that Mipha's story sad and depressing af so i wouldn't play the game. Like, i had legitimate feelings for her wtf, i just can't get over it
As a new player I watched your first video, the beginners tips and didn't really learn anything. It all kind of seemed like common sense but THIS video I didn't know really any of these except number 6. Good video.
I never rationed out my stamina while swimming! Before you begin your journey across any body of water, place a cryonis block in the distance. Now you have a check point. I love this game. Link has the cleanest dive animation.
1. You can cover unlimited distance in water by simply building a "bridge" with the ice block feature of your sheikah slate. It's not really a secret but i forget about it most times when i want to swim somewhere and think "damn i don't have enough stamina for that" haha. It is also very useful when you would want to swim against the stream since that takes longer and requires way more stamina! 2. You can climb higher by stopping to actually "climb": This is only possible at certain angles where Link normally would continue to climb But if you stop he won't fall off immediately but skid down bit by bit. Hold the button to run and make short breaks now Link is able to slowly recover stamina. Do so until the angle is too high and continue climbing!
One swimming tip I use a lot is using the Cryonis Rune to make little "stamina recovery islands" across a long span of water. Then I swim to each one, climb up and recover, then swim to the next, lather, rinse, repeat.
It's faster to just windbomb off of them. Or just use the blocks themselves to scale across. If you get the buttons down it can be more efficient then swimming even with the full zora armor set
That last one is a game changer for me. I had a horse that I named Spork, and I fuckin’ loved him and when he died I swore of riding forever. I’ve been walking everywhere ever since. I never thought I’d see my precious Spork again.
I wish I knew that if you beat Ganon you can't keep playing the free roam it just sets you back to the main title screen or where you last save. Other than that I loved the game
Literally every Zelda game does that dude. You beat Ganon, credits roll, then it loads you back to the title screen so you can reload your file and do whatever else you didn't finish. The idea is you can fight Ganon over and over if you want.
When it's raining you can shield surf/board on the wet grass, not super efficient but down slopes it helps. Also I haven't tried this myself and gotten to the point where I could but I was told that if you scan a treasure chest "The ones like in shrines" there's a sensor that'll let you know whenever there are any that are near. Don't know if it's fully true or possible though
I may have stumbled upon a way to cancel the monster regenerating effects of the blood moon. After defeating a camp of Bokoblins and unlocking their treasure chest, I noticed the ominous effects of the impending blood. Fearing that the regeneration of the monsters I'd just defeated would lock the treasure chest, I made a mad dash for the chest. I'm not sure if I opened the chest at the exact moment the clock struck midnight, but it was definitely very close. The animation for opening the chest proceeded as normal, and when it was over the effects of the blood moon simply faded away. There was no blood moon cutscene, and the enemies did not reappear. This only happened once, and I've yet to try and replicate these circumstances.
Nate Johnson Horizon is ever-so-slightly worse than Breath, personally. Mass Effect Andromeda hasn't released yet so let's not hype it, and Red Dead 2? Potentially, but again, hasn't released yet.
Nate Johnson and as for Prey? I don't see it. It'll be an amazing game hopefully, but I don't think enough people will know about it for it to be GOTY.
I mean Horizon had potential but it'll be forgotten soon, in fact I think it already is forgotten. But the real PS and Xbox contenders are showing up later. Nintendo has a champion title here. But let's be honest, Breath of the Wild won't win GOTY unless the DLC can do it proper justice. Such as the new storyline and dungeon. If it isn't BoTW it'll be mass effect or Red Dead, or Xenoblade 2 or Super Mario Odyssey. Maybe Prey. I want BoTW to win but the extra content and additional patches and updates have to help it pull through (besides the DLC) why besides the DLC? Well the devs said that they're going to add on to the game and they don't mean extending it by DLC either. Horizon is forgotten already lol
I hate the fact that when u play the german edition u have lots of little easter eggs like malaya (or smthn) is named malohn/mahlon which is a reference to LoZ OoT but when u play the English version…Almost no easter eggs! That sucks English translators…
What do you wish YOU knew before you started Breath of the Wild?
GameSpot if you let a rock octoroc suck in a rusty weapon it will restore it to perfect usable quality.

You can cook certain foods by putting them in hot springs.
You can also prepare food using fire and ice weapons on your prey.
Scoring a headshot on wild game usually awards extra meat.
The Woodland Tower has a Royal Claymore planted in the top of it that will consistently respawn.

Cutting off Guardians' legs produces springs and other drops, which can ultimately net more pickups than simply targeting the eye or torso.

Zelda is Hylia incarnate.
XxxJim_ the_ ReaperxxX I think he was talking about how the game aptly replaces "God" with "Hylia".
Same 😂
The best one is when you try to register a skeleton horse at the stable and he freaks out 😂
@@CamilleonProductions What? my stalhorse died when i got in range of the stable
I was having trouble catching up with a fast horse, so I shot it with an ice arrow and hopped on it once it thawed. Now it's my main horse.
Ickabodxx
Wow,nice catch! 😉😉😉
Ickabodxx I named the giant horse Gunendar. I wanted to name it Gunendahrf.
Arwenes I named mine Ganonhorf
(I laughed so hard when I came up with it but it’s not even that funny)
Mochi The Cat I named mine Din after the Goddess of Power and the Royal white horse is Hylia
I named the giant horse biggie
i love how the only time when link has any sort of expression is in the most minor task like for example;
taking a selfie
gaining stamina back
throwing a random fucking mushroom that may or may not be drugged into a bowl and cooking heroin successfully
Idk if it goes for all of the books, but his facial expression when looking at Paya's diary is the best thing I have found in this game so far.
@Ricky Moon same here
Don't pull out a bomb arrow on Death Mountain x_x
I experienced it when I did not even want to use a bow: I was teleporting to a shrine and my bow started burning. Naturally I wanted to save it and change to Knight's Bow but I had Bomb arrows equipped which were immediately drawn and promptly ended that attempt.
Just got the game and fucked that one up royally and killed my self
I use it to troll the moblins.
Found that out while fighting fireblight ganon. I did it once and thought it was the bosses attack so I did it again and died.
Don't attempt to change your arrow via drawing your bomb arrow a second time on death mountain...
If you get frozen with no stamina left and happen to fall into water, the game actually allows you to float like an iceberg, you can get your stamina back, break the ice by shacking, then swim away uncathed.
...I wish I knew that instead of falling just to drown all those times, haha.
Shaking* unscathed*
I have 570 hrs through the game all side quests (except special delivery) shrines, outfits (No amiibo :( ) all memories, Hylian Shield, fully charged Master Sword ,all DLC stuff, and yet I didn't know that you can float in cold water frozen without stamina!
I’ve found you can train your horse to jump more effectively by petting it each time it lands a jump. My horse will jump over pretty much every piece of terrain now without even so much as flinching.
Seriously?!
That would've been soooo helpful with the jumping mini game!
Oh so that's what the twins at the Dueling Peaks stable was talking about when they told us to pet the horse after it does something we want.
How do you get your horse to jump? I'm brand new to the game, lol.
While paragliding, have your Sheikah Slate rune set to remote bombs and press L to drop a bomb below you and detonate it. Great for bombing enemy camps from above.
Hiroshima that shit
I do like me a hands-free explosion if you know what I'm saying.
Wait so you can pull a bomb out while paragliding??
@@Emily.Russell look up botw windbomb
@Luke Lanides yeah if they didn't know you could pull out bombs midair, they might as well search up this cool trick and learn it. Its rather easy once you know how to do it
Me: "Oh boy! I'm so glad I got my favorite horse, Goober, back after I accidentally killed him while facing a swarm of Moblins early in the game!"

its slow

this just show HOW MUCH DETAIL AND CARE they put into this game! I'm just amazed
ok game but so far t's my least favourite zelda
@ItsameAlex Congratulations.
I want link with a pointy nose, that's the real link
This is nothing.
In a tempest, you can be hit by a thunder if you wear metal stuff. Unequip everything metal but your sword and throw it on you enemy just a second before the thunder hits you, the thunder will follow your metal sword and hit the enemy if you have the right timing :;D
Did you know that bomb arrows don't work when it's raining. Which in hindsight make perfect sense but never thought they would put it in the game
If i'm not mistaken, that mechanic also existed in Twilight Princess. Could be wrong though.
yuke man Wong To add to that, don't use them in hot places like Death Mountain, bad idea.
ShinyGoldBacon The fire arrows are actually a crystal put on an arrow that burns on impact, so maybe that's why?

Apparently you can pick up a cucco, take it into battle and trick the enemy into attacking it. You can imagine what happens next..
Art by Linda Ann
i saw a moblin get stripped to the bone in 7 seconds
How do you trick hiim into attacking it?
By holding it above your head. The enemy might hit you though so it might not be the safest way to kill enemies but it looks fun xD There's a gif floating around the internet.
Art by Linda Ann the way i saw it done was standing in from of the monster, waiting for it to attack, throw the cucco and dodge the attack,
Watch videogamedunkey's Breath of the Wild video.
That autosave one is super useful, I'm terrible at saving my game when the battery's low.
wow. i never even tried riding the other animals, nor did i even come across a bear in my travels :0
they rarely appear in the woods, i know i've seen them consistently in Hickely Woods at least though.
rasamasala i saw a bear before
i set it on fire :)
i know of two bears a forgot were they are in a little vally theres a cave and if you scare them off there's apples and honey comes in the cave
Find the LORD OF THE MOUNTAIN and Ride him his stats are way high. Also cant stable him though
when I was just a few hours in a found a bear
Has anyone else realised, that horses will follow roads on their own wile riding them without you steering them?
The loading screens tell you about that one. It is nice while traveling a new area to scout the land and stuff.
I learnt about that from a NPC on a horse while I was on the way to Hateno village.
but you have to have a bond with the horse. otherwise, a newly caught horse or low bond horse would veer off
one of the stable npcs told me this last night and its legit
best function ever, makes travelling all that distance so much easier and more relaxing.
MrMetroidDread it's like roll scumming for splatoon
MrMetroidDread with my original smash bro's link of me though I lost my horse do I have to go to the great Feritti get it back because I never registered it please let me know because I love riding links horse
Tyler Silva yup just go to the fountain
is it 24 real hours or 24 in-game hours?
What are Amiibos?
That's pretty good to know, thanks! If I have the switch and game I would go try to remember and listen to that advice.(I would make my Epona:D)
I think there is a couple of stables were you can do that. Not sure though.
theADM gamer, Yea I also found that out. Some but not all stables have the girl who customizes. Thanks.
No “Make my Epona” (damm this comment was old)
No no I mean literally make my Epona, I would grab a horse with a familiar color and call it Epona basically
Hope this game sets a precedent for less hand holding and explanations in games.
Looking at you Ubisoft.
Steven W k
i was going to say bethesda, they've been pretty bad since oblivion in that regard.
they did, the great plateau is like the tutorial of the game, and the rest just gets harder. If not for some tips in-game, you actually need to find out stuff on your own
Steven W this game doesn't hold your hand, sure you get tips but mostly from loading the game be it booting it up or reloading after dying.
@link200767 - i think you miss read what he said. he basically likes that this game doesn't hold your hand. he wants more open world games to do this.
Discovering some of these by myself were some of the best parts of the game. That self discovery was an amazing feeling.
nah it's a waste of time, some of these things you might never find out by yourself
This game has set the bar too high.
Only Olympic high jumpers can reach this bar
I've been playing it a little.. and it's good.. but so far it's my least favourite Zelda. I vastly prefer oot, ww and ss, especially the first two.
You need to play it more. There's so much more to it.
ok man, I will lol :) ... but right now, tales of symphonia is still the best game I've ever played
HE WAS SELLING ANCIENT CORES AND GUARDIAN MATERIALS.
was he even really a merchant omg
Major Havoc that wasn’t a merchant that was jesus
There is a merchat selling this
WHAT! I needed that soooo badly.... I did a questline which required me to get an ancient core..... I had to literally storm Hyrule castle and slay EVERY guardian I came across! Including Castle Town! I managed to get a single one after around 30 of them.....I used sooooo many arrows.....
There’s also a merchant near Hateno village that sells guardian parts
i cant stop playing this game. even when I actually have to go outside and be an adult I cant stop thinking about it. I just think about what I am doing to go next when I start playing again haha.
Hope that you still like it
I'm going thru this feeling rn! Just graduated college and I'm supposed to be job searching but I'm spending all my waking hours playing botw and I love it
Go out into the woods with a broadsword then
I thought two pillows' silhouettes were a guardian earlier today.
Everytime i got outside now i assume im still korok hunting even though im not playing -
One more thing. If you hold down ZL and move the analog stick while you're taking a selfie, Link can do weapon poses!
Let's start a secret sharing thread...and...GO!
To save yourself time you can hit a tree with a fire weapon and it will create a campfire without wasting flint or wood!
by the way I did a forward roll.. but I don't know how I did it
quickest way to bond with your horse is calling it, getting on, soothing, getting off, repeat.
if you follow a shooting star you can find star fragmen worth 300 rupies only found 4 got one from the zelda smash bro's amibo, you can get epona from link as well.
Today, I just learned that you can actually use Cryosis to break those ice things Vah Ruta throws at you
Wow played the game for so long and never knew this. Would of been nice to know at the time lol.
What really?? ;-;
There is a way easier way to get the blue flame to the furnace in Akkala. You just need to throw the lit torch down the mountain then again across the river. You'll avoid so many enemies.
It's possible to swap heart containers for stamina vessels and vice versa.
yes, there is an anti goddess statue somewhere that will buy a heart or stamina vessel from you for 100 rupees and then when you talk them again they will sell you a heart or stamina vessel for 120 rupees. so the exchange essentially costs you 20 rupees.
but I'm not sure where it is.
its in Hateno Village or whatever is called
Hateno Village
Hateno village towards the entrance behind a rock/boulder.
Yup, I was able to get the master sword a lot sooner
Cryonis works on waterfalls, didn't find that out until I tried it in one of the shrines. This is so useful if you don't have the Zora armour.
I played this game for 150 hours. Never seen a bear
did you do that quest from Dueling Peaks stable to find Niska's Treasure? There's a shrine on the way to finding the treasure as well. Anyway, the little forest you go through to find that shrine and that treasure has at least 2 bears roaming around in it. They are aggressive.
Same
I've seen two types of bears "Honey bears" which are the ones in the video and black bears in the Hebra mountain.
I've only found a bear while exploring the hebra mountains. there's one near a spring, and it shook me to the core when I saw the Mount option
There's a few near where you fight that giant one eyed skeleton that comes out of the ground. They jacked me up early on.
Fact: if countered at the correct time, you can deflect a guardian's laser back at it and be done with it in three or fur hits.
Bless me, I said fur. I meant four.

You? A cat?
Yes, a cat. Haven't changed it since 2000 something. Just to lazy to change
Cats are immortal.

Actually, the game does tell you all these things. Except maybe the shield arrow one. But the others are either on the load screen tips or are told to you by travelers. Like the horse reviving one.
The swin faster naked one is some guy outside Wetland Stable, I believe.
Today I learned not to use bomb arrows at death mountain.
Ryan Daniell I learned that the hard way ;-;
its stupid because lazfino's can....
I remember fighting fireblight and I was using my bomb arrows but I didn’t understand and I thought it was the blights attacks so I got really mad and after 30 minutes I realised how stupid I am
EXTRA HITS THE GAME Doesn't TELL YOU;
1: if you soak your yourself in water, you are immune to fire for a short period of time.
If you crouch down and are not wearing body armor, well, see what happens!
Holy crap, seems like the Zelda series is potentially one of the most influential modern games and with the brightest future ahead.
R.I.P Epona Jr. WAIT I CAN RIDE A BEAR!! FUCK THAT ON WARDS HONEY PANTS!! TO VICTORY TO SLAY GANON WITH A MOP!!
Stalnox, I actually encountered my first one yesterday after 50 hours of gameplay, that in itself is mindblowing
Wait... you can get a mop? How?! I need it!!!
That white tunic load out is one of the most attractive sets I've seen yet. Going to definitely sport some of that.
Anthony Carter
Link is referencing Edward Kenway.
its the standard hylian clothes dyed white, the easiest set to attain in the game
This is a worthy competitor for best action RPG against the Witcher 3. I've missed games like this that include secrets and aren't afraid to let you loose without holding your hand. Alot of games today just lack depth.
heres some tricks ive found
unlike the other amiibo's the Wolf Link amiibo can actually be used over and over more than once a day(as long as wolf Link doesn't die).
I would suggest having a Guardian sheild as a back up tho, just to be safe.
and while im on the topic of horses
also you can actually travel with two horses at once, of you're riding around and see a wild horse you like but don't want to leave the one you're on behind. you can actually travel with both of them
catch and tame the wild horse until its max bond and obeys you without question and wont wander off when you dismount (you can do this really fast by feeding it a buttload of apples or carrots if you feel lazy and dont want to run it, you know its maxed if it starts doing that adorable snuffing at you when your near it and wont wander off) move the newly tamed wild horse a decent distance away from your saddled one, dismount, whistle, then quickly mount the unsaddled one and start moving , as long as you dont stop and a monster dosn't attack you you can travel safely with both horses to your nearest stable to regster your new friend, I would recomend maintaining a trot since you can keep an eye on your saddled horse to make sure its still behind you.
don't bother keeping a bokoblin's horse, they're usually pretty weak. also shoot the horse not the rider, it will always throw them off. make it a bomb arrow if you really wanna make sure they wont get back on
horses with blazes (white stripe down the face) and socks (white hooves), gold or black manes tend to be pretty darn good.
soothe your horse after a jump to get them sweet bond points. feeding your horse helps boost bond as well, they will only eat apples, swift carrots and endura carrots.
feeing a horse an endura carrot gives it 3 extra, tho temporary spinting spurs, feed them to horses with at least five spurs and you can run for daaaays.
The Lord of the Mountain will bugger off at the first signs of trouble or if lightning strikes near it, so If you're using it for an adventure travel with caution.
you can actually ride your horse into the lost woods without setting the grass on fire since you wont be using a torch to guide your way, you find your way into the lost woods by follwing the directions the wind blows the embers, your horses tail reacts to the wind the same way, its best to walk but as long as the horses tail is being blown between its legs you know you're going in the right direction, and dont worry, even if you get lost in the fog you'll stay together.
if you have no fire arrows you can make and/or find fire then use it to set regular arrows on fire, you can also light a torch then drop it and used that to light your arrows on fire.
if you want to make alot of small healing items like seared meat or baked apples, you can speed cook things on death mountain, go to where the air gets hot and drop your goods. you can only do ten things at once (two armfuls) so don't go spilling all the things out of your pants.
when its a blood moon your food is garenteed to be a "critical success" (basically really strong), make a buck load of food as quickly as you can with faries and you will be set for health and buffs forever.
you can catch fish easily using bombs, chuck a bomb where the fish are, detonate then go collect their floating bodies, go dynamite fishing. you're welcome.
broken wood cutting axe? use bombs. it takes two, one to down the tree and one to blast it into a wood bundle
the cobble crusher line of blunt swords and sledge hammers are the untimate hanging fruit collecters, just give the tree a good smack and watch it rain apples/coconuts/durians (careful with the apples around horses because you will find your trusty steed may snag some of your harvest).
you can take shelter from a lightning storm under the enclove of an open shrine, you can also light fires inside them to speed time as well.
one way to make lots of rupees is to farm and sell diamonds, theres a zora in the zora's domain that will trade ten Luminous stones for a diamond, go mining and load up on Luminous stones and trade them to a zora called Ledo, hes the green one thats always tapping on the glowing pillars or front gate. only down side is he will litterally count each one of them every single time so get ready to mash the A button alot. on the up side, diamonds.
the Drillshaft spear is the best for mining. it last longer than a sledge hammer and it has better range so you can catch those escapee gems before they go rolling down the hill.
if you see a Dog feed it any kind of meat, the dog will sometimes lead you to a burried chest. not all dogs will lead you to a chest tho, so if youre low on meat best to go hunting before feeding it.
there are recipies for really good healing items on Posters on walls inside some buildings, such as the meat stew recipie on the wall in Hudson's house in Tarry town for example. either take a note of them or snap a pic if you have difficulty remembering them.
Allen Rounds yup
I found out that wearing a fire based weapon can warm you in cold weather . Also viceversa with frost based weapons
Him: You can use the last of your stamina to jump extra high.
Me: I figured that out when climbing the Great Plateau tower
Using pronouns to discuss your own comment isnt magically gonna make it better!
Wait, there's bears in this game?
I've been playing for about 7 hours a day since release and have never seen a beat before
funny, coz I found a bear just a few hours in, a little after leaving the great plataeu

I've found rhinos up north.
Revolva Ravo me too but i had 80+ hours instead no lie

Denz Snackar, surprise, you can :D
i dont think you can... you cant register it at a stable.
How? Cause i couldent register it at the stable
Denz Snackar I heard that if you put on the monster equipment from Kilton onto the Lord of the Mountain, you can register it.
I never tried it, so I can't confirm... I was only able to get to the Lord of Mountain once... still waiting for the Light to appear again so I could try it
Denz Snackar if my memory don't fail me, the light apeer more than once
Epona jr, im sorry im so sorry, *gets rammed by bokoblin horse*
so much details to this game. This is one of these games that take you back to the 90s, where you actually need a guild book to discover shit, you wouldnt even know. lol
There is so much to do in this game at times is overwhelming. Love the fact that it doesn't hold your hand but the amount of hidden secrets will surely pass thru me.
Holding ZL while doing a pose gives you access to even more poses, including aiming your bow, or holding up your weapon triumphantly.
ProJared found a forest full of them at the top of a mountain.
Unshaved Malevolence then that means he left that mountain a very rich person. lol
Alex Manning yes same here. I'm not sure where I run into them but I usually only see one by itself and they Scurry off really fast I can only get a couple hits in and get a few rubies and then they're gone.
LT.hippie it's called a blupee. that's all they're for. rupees. blupees drop them rupees.
if you insert the game with sonic and knuckles you can play as knuckles
Colin Hawkins knock knock, suckers
Handy tip for finding Link's memories (Without online). In Kakariko, there's the artist guy that wants to find the Great Fairy Fountain, go to it and then come back to him. He'll then tell you all about the areas to get them. What's better, is that if you find a stable, the memories will be extremely close to that place and the artist will point you in the right direction.
You can backflip to dodge an attack and get a flurry rush if you do it at the right time. Also if you press A while holding your shield out you can do a attack back towards the opponent. Very useful for blight ganons and guardians
Fun fact
If you want kill an guardian really fast the second you see the blue flash you can deflect the laser by pressing a with the shield it's hard to get use to good luck
Using Amiibos summons metal chests, which could be utilized in puzzles to skip some of it's mechanics easily?!
You could beat Ganon in a speed run using amiibos!
don't press new game
BIGBYWOLF 21 why
BIGBYWOLF 21 why not
Failed to comprehend you'll lose all of your save data and have to start over
BIGBYWOLF 21 don't press the power button while playing either
There is no multiple saves games
Fish run away from you when you whistle. Using proper positioning and the cryosis rune you can use this to beach a ton of fish at once for easy fish. You can also carry a cucco with you from wherever you find one and if you manage to trick an enemy into attacking it, they will attack the enemy instead of you.
Something I wish I knew: The fires and the torch in the Korok forest are there for a reason. If you light the torch the wind will blow the flame in a certain direction. Follow it and you will get to the Deku Tree without vanishing in the fog.
I found out that you can play with the doggos that you encounter and its the best thing ever

You can use a chicken as a weapon, just pick one up and if an enemy attacks you while holding it the chicken will attack the enemy, credit goes to videogamedunkey
This game is EXELLENT :)
EXELLENT spelling
BillRey EXELLENT mistake spotting 😉
Clearly your spelling isn’t though
This game is genius i just got it for my switch and cant put it down. the fact that a lot of these tricks arent taught to you and you can find them out yourselves is part of its beauty
If you use stasis you can find items boxes and rocks in the dark, also you can stop enemies on the spot, you might hate the Guardians but you can use stasis to see witch ones are active!
Well, I'm glad I had 10000 multi colored gems in my underwear before I met the fourth great fairy! The 4th upgrade was definitely worth it!
After a week you discovered you can pick up enemy arrows?
Like, i had legitimate feelings for her wtf, i just can't get over it
Her mission was the first one I did and it honestly almost made me cry
Forked over life savings for amiibos.
I NEED THE INGAME STUFF DAMMIT
Next time when u have to swim use cryonis
Do so until the angle is too high and continue climbing!
gah! I keep freaking forgetting about the ice pillars!
Thought I was the only one with Epona jr. as a named horse... guess not 😂❤️
cute name
How does that make sense? Epona is a girl
If there's a Horse God, does that mean there's a Horse Satan and a Horse Jesus? Horse Jesus went to the glue factory for your sins!
"You can pick arrows from the ground"
"You can get things from amiibos"
Really? xd
You can change a horse's mane in the highland stable
And outskirt stable
I wish I knew that if you beat Ganon you can't keep playing the free roam it just sets you back to the main title screen or where you last save.
Other than that I loved the game
Literally every Zelda game does that dude. You beat Ganon, credits roll, then it loads you back to the title screen so you can reload your file and do whatever else you didn't finish. The idea is you can fight Ganon over and over if you want.
Prodigy Rookie it's like the other zelda games it goes back to before you fought the final boss like oot
Prodigy Rookie what
3:33 You can also hold down ZL and move the joystick for 4 other poses.
Some of these are just so self explanatory. Or are incredibly easy to find out without even trying
My link is a instagram photographer
Riley Freeman lmao
the game tells you all thies things if you talk to the right npcs....
You can pick up the stone pebblits (tiny stone taluses). if you hold them long enough, set them down or throw them, they die.
This only happened once, and I've yet to try and replicate these circumstances.
ok cmon. the updraft one was in the trailer for gods sake... nintendo told us about this mechanic ages ago
the secret i found is.... botw goty 2017 :)
That isn't a secret
game of our lifetime
You can also use cryo to help bridge the gaps. It takes less stamina to climb up a cryo pillar than it is to dash in the water when starting out.
Also you can just use your ice rune to get across water. Kicking myself because I always took the long way around whenever I saw water.
