    It's ironic that a full block air vent will end up taking up less interior space than a half block air vent just because of how much more flexible it is. I'm so happy about that block.

    Was literally in crisis mode about interior design in the current ship I'm making simply because the standard air vent never really fit in. This update could not have come at a better time

    Full block air vent is one of the mods I have just used automatically for so long, great to see it fully enter the game.

      I used that mod too but could never get it to work. It would never pressurise the room, I'd replace it with the base game vent and boom, pressure 🤷‍♂️ so I'm glad they added this.

    I've been thinking a whole lot about things that will now be possible with the automations blocks. You don't really see a lot of minelayer ships in Space Engineers, but now even if it's not that practical, that could work. Space mines that stay dormant until they detect and enemy ship, and then they start floating towards it. Mix in a bunch of decoy mines and it could be effective in the right situations. You can sorta defend your ships in the same way you defend bases, by having a formation of basic unmanned ships that are just there to follow you and hold turrets and act as a first line of defense. Kinda like building turret towers in a wide circle around your ground base to hit the drones a few times before they get to your stuff. It will definitely make battles more interesting when one person can have multiple ships on the field, and it will give people some interesting options in PVE and singleplayer.

      I actually built a minelayer in SE, based around the old Big Red. However, it got more than a little overcomplicated so I soon stopped the project. However, it's still on my workshop page for SE, and it may be time to revisit it.
      This time I'll be using the New Big Red as it has a built-in spot at the rear (where the landing craft is supposed to dock) that would be perfect to repurpose for mine construction.

    I love the full-block air vent and light, but it would be nice to a have a full-block version of the sensor for the same reason. You could use the full-block sensor as the top/bottom/side of your airlock, then still have room to put a light or button panel or whatever since the sensor isn't using up that blocks worth of space. Seems like a way to keep things neat and tidy. Maybe in a future update.....

    Would have like to have an animated access panel that could fit on the Willis ducts to gain access to the duct without having to grind it down as with duct grate at the moment.

    There is so much great stuff in this update and DLC. Another great bug fix is that build planner now works properly with sub grids. I wish the event controller worked a little different but it is still useful. I too was disappointed in the small grid access panels not having buttons or control panels but was extra disappointed that the double door has a solid collision box. Engineers and pistons can't go through it. I was able to shoot a gun through it but it also damaged the access panel.

    It's great that the conveyor vent block *finally* made it to vanilla - but I'll still have to use the mod anyway, since they didn't include the sloped version. No shock that a dev chose to include a mod in their base game, but half-arsed it :P

    The small connector is a pretty big deal for making compact hydrogen missiles for fighters since you no longer need a big connector or o2 generator to keep the missiles fueled before launch.

    With this we may be able to make scriptless Large grid, printer stations.
    Link up a event controller to a turret, or have it note a block has been destroyed. Load up the station with enough for 2 or 3 ships. If attacked, a lightly armed station will start to print a large grid patrol ship that then launches, activates and moves to defend the station.
    Would certainly be more interesting for players. Add a few deliberate weak spots and you have some tactical play. Take out the computer room, or the cargo link to the printer to get your own large grid ship printer station.
    Especially if there's a couple thrown in with a faction to spice things up.

    The very first thing I thought of with Event Controller, is the ability to actually transfer hydrogen/oxygen around precisely without interruptions.
    Previously, you could only have tanks be "Stockpile" or "No stockpile". To transfer gasses, you would need to put all your tanks on stockpile, then stop when the "source" tank is empty.
    Only problem, there's a gap between "Source is empty" and "Main tanks are not stockpiling" where you effectively have *no* gas supply (Only exception is if you filled all your main tanks and still had some leftover in the "Source" tank).
    With bases, that's a (sort of long but not really) window for moving oxygen before cryopods suffocate.
    With ships, that's a very dangerous timeframe where all hydrogen thrusters turn off.
    But the event controller?
    You can just have them monitor the source tanks and turn stockpile back off the main tanks the instant it runs out (or even just before).
    You can also do some neat stuff just by having multiple controllers for one resource -
    Two event controllers - "Hydrogen drops below 50%, turn on H2 Generators" and "Hydrogen above 90%, turn off H2 Generators"
    Three event controllers - As above, with "Hydrogen below 15%, turn off Hydrogen Engines"
    Five event controllers - As above, with extra condition that if total *battery* power drops below 20%, switch off everything that's not essential and activate an alarm until it's back above 40% or so. Switch on hydrogen engines unless they've been deactivated due to not having enough hydrogen.
    All of that from 5 event controller blocks, a couple of timer blocks, and a handful of minutes setting it up.
    Previously you'd need to have a programmable block with a script, hoping one already exists, or you know enough to make it yourself.

    willis ducts are so sweet i managed to rig up a maintenance hallway throughout my base that you enter through a vent in the wall and it looks soooo much better than what you could before

    The back of that helmet looks like some new guy was playing with substance painter for the first time. Other than that I'm loving the design of all these new dlc blocks they've been putting out. Absolutely agree that the new corridor/pipe wall blocks feel unfinished, need at least the basic corners. I would love a timer block variant that fits in with the programable block as well. Something that looks like another server rack but just the single wall size like the lockers vs the corner lockers.

    tho the solar tracker seems like a great addition.. in the past we would use a small solar panel for small grid and have it power a gyro thats always trying to turn the structure but once the solar panel is directly side on with the sun it would no longer have enough power to turn against the braking force of the main rotors that powered the main solar panels rotors causing the panel to stop as the sun tracks round the small panel will get some sun and the gyro would start moving it again... something for console players if they want to actually engineer rather than cheat past it with a mod

    I would love to see the event controller be more granular. For example, being able to set it to monitor the amount of a certain item.
    Let's take gravel for instance. Generally you just dump it as it isn't good for much, especially in early game when you're mining rock. However later on you need it for reactor components. It would be nice to be able to set an event controller to dump your gravel down to X kg then turn off the sorter that dumps it.

    i'll use both the mod and automation vents cause the mod also has a 45° angled vent block i use in a lot of my designs. hope that one will make it into vanilla someday too

    Those ducts should absolutely have 90deg rotational pieces too for both ways and possibly even 90deg turns for up and down too. And one the has ladder inside it. Without those, it would be impossible to build realistic and/or complex crawl spaces on your ship or building.

    I can see for the offense block a guided missile system for every ship size and type. You can now create anti capital bombers with fire and forget heavy missiles, crusiers capable of 10,000 KM distance combats with nuclear payloads or missiles meant to knock stations out of orbit. Im glad im getting back in now, when i can learn to create systems that will last a long time!

    All my battery operated rovers and ships are getting the emotion controller, battery low gets sleepy face, detect enemy gets scared or angry, etc etc, but mostly to have a visual cue to the battery state that is easy to view without having to think too much or get into a seat or panel.

    At 33:30 you show us the new Access Panels but the very last one you show of all the Access Panels, can you put it on a Conveyor Tube (Instead of a Cargo Block which was your idea) just like you did with the new Conveyor Cap?

    The new fan air vents are beautiful, but they are missing something present on the original air vents. They lack the control panel on the front. Minor detail but that panel can be used to access the cargo system. Even though they have no cargo space of their own, the air vents are "piped" in order to transfer oxygen. You can use that to manually pull items from cargo. These new fan vents can't do that.

    33:45 can that cover a rocket launcher and can it shoot through when open? Same question with thruster. Same question with the small grid double door access panel. The small grid access panels not having buttons is disappointing.
    Odd trend with SE DLCs: pay money, get more walkable space (new programming block, latest reactor, assembler, and refinery. That doesn't feel good, but I'm glad they exist as premium options.

    This is going to make SOOO many scripts and mods obsolete. Many of Isy's scripts and even the powerhouse of the Modular Encounters Spawner will now be obsolete because of this new expansion.
    Not even MES could figure out how to make player helper drones and many other things, but now with this, everyone can make them without mods!

      It's not that we couldn't figure it out, it's that we lacked the API access to make the grids/blocks do what we needed, not only that, but scripts are restricted with how much CPU time they are allowed to consume so there's only so much we can do. Hopefully these new addition might bring new API that we can use to extend it even further.

      The Modular Encounters Spawner creates primarily hostile encounters that have all kinds of problems with them, some of which stem from the fact that the creator of MES refuses to remove his beloved inhibitors and make the ships more accessible for those of us who aren't some elite Space Engineers player like Splitsie or Kanajashi, those of us who don't desire a tough challenge.
      MES rarely includes friendly spawns, whereas with this new mod pack you can now make drones that are equivalent to those spawned by Keen's default NPC ships and stations which are friendly to you.
      There is literally nothing that MES does, which this expansion does not do. And it does many things which MES just can't, such as creating friendly spawns that help players instead of hurting them. You can't create player-made missiles with MES. You can't create friendly drones with MES. And you can't have a ship without inhibitors if you use MES.
      This expansion, despite its' bugs, is better than MES ever could be, in every single way possible. The Modular Encounters Spawner is now entirely obsolete. MES is now only good for scrap - this expansion has completely demolished it in terms of gameplay.

      But since you seem so sure that this update can do everything MES can do, let’s engage in a little thought experiment: How would you recreate the Reavers mod using this update, feature for feature.
      I’m certain someone who would make such a bold claim so confidently will have no trouble answering this :)

      @@LucasMassey I've never used the Reavers mod so I have little chance of answering that correctly. I also haven't been in Space Engineers in a long while, so I am unaware of many of the newer features you may have added to the mods. I also can't use mods any more, for reasons you are well aware of.
      However, I have watched playthroughs of games that have used your mods, so what I can do is describe a mod I have used in the past: Air Traffic.
      With the air traffic mod, you built a system that will allow ships to dock and undock with their own facilities, such as IMBER ships docking with IMBER ground stations, including radio calls for permission to land. We can now duplicate that with the systems provided by Keen. With the proper blocks installed, we can trigger docking sequences (AI blocks) and even radio communication between ships and stations (sound blocks + added files.) We can even call allied, NPC ships to dock at our own player-made stations, complete with acknowledgement over the air, something you never allowed for your own mods. We can even recreate the behaviors of the Assertive Acquisitions mods!
      So why am I describing Air Traffic and not Reavers as you suggested? Well, as previously stated, it is the mod I'm most familiar with. A mod I've actually used when playing. A mod that I was intrigued by the features of, but could never examine close up because of your ego.
      See, I was after a mod that gave more life to Space Engineers while retaining the ease of capture for existing vessels. A mod that added new vessels, not just hostile ones that would attack you, but friendly ones that would dock with player-made ships and stations, with NPCs that added life and making it clear you were not the only one living in a world.
      Your mods failed to do this as you actually made vessels harder to capture, and none of them docked at player stations or even communicated with the players. You didn't even add additional NPCs on the ships for players to interact with! Your mods failed to do what average every day players wanted and instead took the same old Keen NPC code and made it drastically, DRASTICALLY worse. You added additional hostile vessels that would do what I hoped, but only for hostile NPC factions, not player ones. You claimed that making such things was impossible, but in reality, it was not. You were just making what you wanted to make, and ignoring the wants of the community at large.
      With this update, any player can now improve upon your mod to make any ship do what only you could do previously. AND MORE.
      This update can do what you would never allow because of your own ego:
      It will enable people to have friendly versions of your drones. EVERY drone you've created, including the Reavers. NPC ships that will dock and undock at stations just like your Air Traffic and Planetary Occupation mods. Etcetera. Feature for feature, we can now create drones that exactly duplicate your mods but are friendly to players. And we can create more too. Drone rovers that move on their own across terrain, just as one example. You can't do that with MES!
      And best of all, your beloved inhibitors are now worth scrap and nothing more.
      There's a lesson to be learned here, Lucas: Ego never wins. It always returns to bite the egotist where it hurts - just as it has done for you, because now ALL your mods are worthless!
      I can't wait to see what I can create with these new systems. I'll take your most beloved Modular Encounters Systems and make it better than you ever could, completely in vanilla, without any of your experience! It may take a while for me to get used to space engineers again, but you will never again be of any use to the Space Engineers community! You had your one-trick pony and you played it out!
      Soon the entire Space Engineers community will be worshipping at my feet! A common, average player who bested the legends at their own game and they will BEG to make me a part of the community again! And the only way I will agree to that, is if the creator of the Modular Encounters Systems and the creators of WeaponCore are permanently banned from the community, never to return! Because we of the Space Engineers community DO NOT NEED YOU ANYMORE!
      I am getting back in the game, and once I do, I will be recording and uploading every second of it as I can't wait to humiliate you to no end! And there is no force on earth that can stop me from doing just that!
      I'M in charge now, and you might as well start calling me the new Marek Rosa because I am going to OWN this game's entire community!
