For the Trinity logo, my theory/headcannon is that it's probably just some generic Corporation or brand and the "Clang Kola" is just one of their products. To expand on it, I imagine that there are several corporations that knew they could never compete in the space shuttle business and thus they instead focused on supplies/comodities, therefore the Kola, grinder, guns etc. and all designed and produced from these generic brand name.

Hello engineer, in this manual we hope to educate you on the Space Engineers Modular Construction System, Formerly known as the SEMCS.
The SEMCS is a mini blueprint schematic system that allows you the user to see a projection of a block by holding your hand out in front of you(like your about to go for a high five)
to quickly construct a wireframe that then could be merged with the final product, (high five the air?) to allow a single steel plate or other base components to be extracted from your backpack and placed in front of you.

I have a book called Janitors of the late space age. What’s interesting is that the book was inspired by Space Engineers, and actually has a deep connection with the game. I’d suggest giving it a read! It’s really good, and gives hints to SE lore.

It’s alright. I read it in an evening or two a few months back. It had some cool ideas and tie-ins to both Space Engineers and the real world space race, but was a bit amateurish and badly needed to be run by an editor first. There were spelling and grammar mistakes and one point where a couple of pages were accidentally copy-pasted twice. I think the author could get some more writing experience and find an editor, and the book would go from okay to good.

I had always assumed we were pioneers out in the deep dark, using suits and standard provided schematics provided by the same or similar corporations. Why? As Captain Shack once theorized, we're probably out here on a space gold rush of sorts, here to collect resources, stake claims, and build up infrastructure, not so much for corporations but our own corporate interests, and we're free to make alliance, groups, factions etc but for all the stuff we're able to build, we're basically civilian, with civilian allowed weaponry.

    • @pocarski

an yes, my favorite civilian allowed weaponry: actual railgun that punches through 40 meters of steel, warheads with an explosive yield of a MOAB, and actual naval cannons

    Results Orientated Sciences
Or as i like to call them: Run On Sight
For the ROS ad about the drones you see it has yellow and white drones along with blue drones.
Independent Terran Workers have yellow and white ships
Sol Cooperative has Blue and white ships
My guess, ROS worked with ITW and Sol using them as contractors. They send you, a Sol Cooperative engineer to investigate and they hire ITW to run things. My guess, so they don't have to deal with benefits, health insurance, and such. Lots of companies do that hiring 'independent contractors' to do work that you would think a full time employee dose.

never knew the scenarios where so in depth

    • @glabifrons
      @glabifrons Рік тому +1

That's actually one of the short ones.
The Frostbite scenario has lots of story buried in it. Sure, you can race though it by reading up on the locations of key parts, but that completely ruins the game IMO. It'd be like finding out the end of an M.Night Shyamalan movie before seeing it (there's no point, without the surprise, it's ruined). The whole scenario is about figuring out what happened to people in the colony. There's an amazing number of things hidden in various places that dive into lots of side-stories about specific people who have since passed. You really need to be familiar with the game mechanics for this one. Also, jetpacks are disabled, which changes gameplay much more than you'd think.
If you don't want/have the Frostbite DLC, a stock one that's much longer than First Jump is Learning to Survive. It seems pretty basic and simple at first, but there's actually a lot more to it than I expected when I started playing it. There are multiple achievements for it as well (at least one for finishing it which comes with a splash-screen badge, and one for completing a certain task without landing, possibly others). While this one doesn't have nearly the story of Frostbite, there's plenty to do and you have to prepare a lot to be able to complete the scenario.
If you want more story, The Lost Colony has a great deal of back-story to learn, and like Frostbite, has lots of hidden clues and info on the various people. Just like Frostbite, it's a mystery that you're trying to solve, so don't read up on it before-hand of you'll ruin it. This one also has jetpacks disabled, but this one takes place on a planet.

R.O.S. is often reffered to as a corporation while I.T.W. were contracted by them. Given that role and with the name Indipendent Terran Workers it is easy to guess they are a sort of trade union like organization. Given they are also employing their own warships, they could be something like Syndicalists or Anarcho-Syndicalists? That political direction would work with the old raised fist faction logo as well,.
It would then also make sense for the I.T.W. to offer an apology to the player given they are a Sol cooperative representative, since that name also sounds kind of communist?/Market socialist You don't just name youself a cooperative for nothing. There is an ideological split between cooperatives and Syndicates though, but none that would bring them on bad terms.
Given all that, I'd guess the R.O.S. are some amoral corporation that did trade with the other factions before they discovered the artifact, which would also explain why the marketing they did looks like the corporate advertising in the very late days of the Soviet Union.
Or maybe I'm just reading way too much into everything.

    About the trinity:
Klang is not only a dev of SE but also the god of rotors, pistons etc.
If you have a lot of pistons on your ship you need to pray to clang for your ships safety.
I believe trinity is a reference to clang being treated as a god.

As far as why there is a Second Great Space Race around 2030... Just look around at what's going on in real life circa the 2020s between China versus the USA & Friends for the return to the Moon, in addition to some significant moves to further commercialize orbital access and exploitation. Keen's fictional future history seems to have been slightly prophetic, if perhaps overly optimistic, on this.

I'm surprised you didn't talk at all about the lost colony or frostbite scenarios, which both involve ROS quite heavily. In lost colony, the colony is built upon underground and long abandoned ROS bunkers, in which they were experimenting with bacteria which eventually lead to the bunkers being abandoned. This also eventually happens to the new colony built on the surface. Would this mean that ROS has since been disbanded, or was it that particular base of operations that just got abandoned?
There is also the frostbite scenario, which is entirely ROS. The player is even contracted by them to get the data from within the base.
In the sparks of the future scenario, there is an office section in the main area that shows ROS, but it's closed down. Could this mean that Lost Colony and Sparks of the Future take place further in the future than the other two scenarios mentioned?

It seems like ROS-4 is a subdivision of ROS. I'm guessing it's some sort of private military, hence the red drones and Thunder Fleet ad. Meanwhile, I noticed that some of the loading screen quotes are said to be from the USAF and the US Army Ordinance. Could Earth superpowers still be relevant in 2077?

the "second great space race" was likely a modern version of the old space race (go figure). However it was likely over the further development of tech needed to venture into and colonize deep space rather than just getting into space like back in the 60s. In just a few short decades the development of ship sized reactors, cryogenic freezing of participants for travel, and the development and usage of the Jump Drive to go thousands of kilometers in just a few minutes or even seconds. these tools were likely the deciding factors of this new space race and would lead humanity into the colonization of the cosmic frontier. A new manifest destiny, ripe for the taking.

The whole premise of the game (the part that the average players hates the most) is that the tech is a 60 year extrapolation of current tech which mostly comes from NASA. There has already been a research project to mine an asteroid. Who would be surprised today to learn that some Elon Musk type has a plan to mine asteroids in earnest, and that it could happen before 2030? Just the IDEA that the one person MIGHT make some money will force others to try to get there first, just as right now companies that want to put your satellites or whatever into orbit are coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden.
IF someone actually gets rich by 2030, then by 2077 being a space engineer would be a thing. That would mean operating engineers as well as the other types.
I say the average players hates this because it means no shields or energy beam weapons. Things would be more in line with what you see in "The Expanse."
What gets me is that we don't know, as characters, where we come from. No one talks about Earth. Are we in an alternate universe (which would explain the dinky and disturbingly close together planets that don't rotate or move, not to mention the sun that DOES)? Before planets I just assumed we were in our universe in our solar system in our asteroid belt. Then we got planets, but instead of an asteroid belt the asteroids are everywhere, including inside gravity wells. In any event there doesn't seem to be any place we call home.
I guess since it's a sandbox game, you can make up any lore you want.
    That's what I did 😉

Loved the video @LastStandGamers! Can't wait for the next video man! The only thing that I can think of for the Second Space Race in the 2030's is the Results of what's going on Now. The United States Space Force that was Established under President Donald Trump is most likely America's Foundational Blocks for the Country's part in Said Space Race. The Fact that this is supposedly taking in 2077 (The Game/Scenarios) leads me to guess that there might be some sort of Cyberpunk Vibes back on earth or something meaning everyone's either Crowded into the Major Cities across the World with the Land owned by the Government (Kinda like the 30 by 30, Now America the Beautiful, and the 50 by 50 Agendas) or they've gone out into space like the Pre-Horus Heresy Era of Warhammer 40K Lore.
Let me know what you think about this and I'll catch you in your next video man!

    • @QualityPen
      @QualityPen Рік тому +1

It’s not impossible that Wikipedia 2077 is a wiki founded in 2077, rather than the player reading Wikipedia in 2077. If that’s the case, the game could take place decades later.
A few other things- superluminal travel is impossible under our current understanding of physics. Including jumping, wormholes, or anything else. I won’t get into it here and there are videos on the topic on UA-cam, but the Light Cone model posits that any movement from Point A to Point B faster than light could go from A to B, regardless of how that movement or teleportation happened, would be equivalent to traveling back in time. Traveling back in time is seen as physically impossible, and by extension so is FTL travel. In other words, we probably won’t invent FTL travel ever, unless our understanding of physics is totally wrong.
The interesting thing is the jump drive in-game is marginally slower than light, though the jump drive in lore is implied to be significantly faster than light.
