Like as in everyday my Fractal FM9 🤩 I will wait for full release to update for myself it's really the tone improvements and quality of life updates that i prefer, sure all the new models are awesome but there already is so much in the Fractal
My new preset called "V6 Testbed" GAME CHANGER!! They've made my life so simple, one Amp block with 4 amps clean-dirt-solo-ott and I'm done. no gaps bliss!
It lacks the memory and power to do much of this type thing. Even if it does, it will not have the same FEEL- espeically of say the Axe-FXIII Turbo which is a beast. Just get one of those of the FM9 (still have much less DSP power.)
An actual gamechanger. The seamless switching was the only function left that I needed but that the FM9 couldn't do. This is huge. Also looking forward to checking out those new 'verbs!!
Further evidence that buying Fractal or Line 6 can help mitigate your GAS issues. About the time you can't stand the itch to buy any longer, they come out with these updates. So much goodness there. Looks and sounds very satisfying.
You're 100% right about the ease of taking these improvements for granted. FAS has set the industry standard for firmware support of their products. If you own an current generation FAS device it is the gift that keeps on giving.
Gapless switching should have been a thing since day 1. But it’s awesome they have it now. Now it needs an expression pedal built in and a power amp. Sacrifice a couple of foot switches and add the power amp so you can run a cab too and use it at home. Yeaaaaah do it fractallll. I want a fractal combo 2x12 for home use. Andddd Axe Edit for smartphone and tablet. Ha. Don’t want much. Amazing video Leon. You’re the fractal yoda
As I wrote in the forum... a year ago I bought an fm9...being in EU I had to pay a good amount of money but your videos made me decide instantly over the other units. Afte gapless switching and the latest firm it feels a rock solid choice for my needs!!! Thanks LT!
I need this for my FM3. "Engineers are working on it." By all accounts the engineers working on this for the FM3, one of them has been ill and off work for a while, and is back now. of all the units Fractal have out right now, it will have the biggest impact for FM3/9 users.
Believe me, I do not take FAS for granted! I can say without hyperbole that my Axe-FX is the single most inspiring piece of gear I've ever owned. FAS listens to their customers (I've even had a few wishes implemented over the years) and they care about quality and improving. Great support, great products, great company. Consider me a fan for life!
Fantastic - THIS is the update I've been waiting for! Leon, cool nod to "No Quarter" at 20:04! As always, thanks for the excellent demo! Can't wait for the actual release.
Update is so good. The latency/feel is real IMO for those of us sensitive to that. Everything feels and sounds better and the new amps, verbs, and updated tape delay sound amazing. Truly impressive.
I love that you held the note while you switched channels. That's the best way to hear if there is a gap. I'm impressed, seems like it works well. I wonder what was sacrificed to add it or why it wasn't that way from he beginning?
Always learn from your channel. Very well said at the end - Fractal is clearly committed to improving for their customers, not simply new gen gear to maximize $$. You have the best Fractal channel on YT. Thank you.
With the exception of adding 2 expression pedals, one for Wah, and one for Volume, I've been using my FM9 completely out of the box with no changes since I bought it.
You really need to do a Kings X tribute, Leon!!! Watching you play Tye Taybors licks and progressiins helps me to realize how sweet those are!!! This update is great!!! But please...PLEASE do more Kings X. I can see your love for them every time you play their riffs!!!!
See... fractal don't need to release a different unit every six months, because they seem to update and improve on what already is brilliant! And consumer's know this... because guitarist aren't idiots 🤣 take note other companies!
Well said. Thank you, FAS. Fractal doesn’t have to do this but they continue to provide A LOT of useful updates to users of all their products for FREE. This is exactly why I chose the FM-9 over the other modeling options on the market. I’ll be updating my FM-9 firmware today. Great firmware breakdown, Leon. Thanks for the batch save preset tip!
I have the AX8, compared to the FM9 its absolete. But the sheer quality of the AX8 makes it good enough to compete with all the other units. It still sounds better and better fx than the Helix, Kemper, Neural, Tonemaster and a total keeper..... until the cash for the upgrade is there😅
@@MusicheadRickI’m still using the Axe Fx standard lol I’m still happy with it and it’s still the only modeling unit I use. But can’t wait to upgrade to an FM3 some day
That’s what got me sold to Fractal back then with the Ultra. Best decision ever :) I own an FM3 and an older Axe FX II which Display nearly gave up but it still works. Great stuff!
Loved the Savatage nod!!! Probably best firmware update so far. Adding the Axe FX III pitch algorithm a close second. Though not that close, this update is huge.
Fun hey! It's a resonant low pass filter hooked up to an ADSR that's timed to sweep the exact amount it takes to play the little interlude in "Rust". Definitely turns some heads live!
fm9 likely just became my number 1 played unit. The gapless was much needed for some of my complex presets. I had to be quite careful in timimg when to switch on some of the heavy ambient stuff back to lead etc.
Thank you Leon, good introductions, hammer sounds! You gave me the impulse to buy the fm9 and also the BOSS RC-500. Watching your videos is getting a little expensive for me :-D You should give online courses, the variability of your style is legendary! Promised, I'd be one of the first of your paying customers!
Gapless switching is by far the most important update I’ve been waiting for since 2017 (AX8). Such a game changer in my workflow and I no longer have to break my head on scene controllers.
Same here! Bought an AX8 in late 2016 and figuring out how to work around the gaps lead me to scene controllers, which made me want to make a video about scene controllers so I didn't forget how to do it...aaaaand here we are!
@@LeonToddI’m totally stoked for this update for the same reason. I wanted to just use a little bump to the master volume and toggle of the input boost in a second channel to switch from rhythm to lead in some of my presets, but the gap! Scene controllers and control switches can work around it, sure, but gapless switching will make things much easier. The updates to the trems and reverbs sound great too!
Of all the modelers I'm most impressed with AxFx. There are other good ones out there, but it's got the best tones. I also love the Boss systems as well. They are less on-target when it comes to perfect models, but still high-quality tones. I'm playing on gigging around Los Angeles in this coming year and I'm planning on using some sort of modeling system. I just have to decide which one. But it makes the most sense these days. Good video.
That Nobel sounds awesome. I installed the Beeeeta, but haven't played a note yet. that's the first thing I'll try, and see if it takes the place of the klone (sometimes)
The spring reverb at 17:30 in this video is behaving kinda strange. Not saying there isn't a musical application for that, because I think there is. It sounds nice. But I also think it's kinda odd how the drip almost completely goes away on the lighter notes and really comes on powerfully when you hit a hard chord. I don't think real spring reverb tends t behave that way, and I say that as someone who owns a 1964 Fender Showman with an original external reverb tank. My spring reverb is more even across the dynamic spectrum.
Great video. I am thinking about something.... If the fm3 turbo got the gapless switching, would it be possible to use 3 diferente instruments running on the same unit simultaneously? Hi - just about to buy a FM9 - had a FM3 Mk1 for a while . Please can anyone point me to more info on latency/feel improvements that come with this new firmware .I see references to it but no detail? thanks
How is it possible that I don't have gapless option visible in my FM9 Edit but I have it in my FM9 Unit? I uninstalled FM9 Edit and installed it again and still. I don't have this option in editor. Any idea why?
Just got rid of my FM9 as I can see that it will be superseded soon. The interface is poor , No touch screen , scribble strips unreadable and floor level, Bluetooth ?? why not .. USB old style . Those tremolos 😍
Neon Trem is just gorgeous
@@LeonTodd I need to add some tremolo to my block library life
Hi mate , loved that fat flanger sound with 500 milli sec there... missing my kitty cat tonight., what is that cat up to , sharpening his claws I reckon he's ready for a little cat claw crunch sittin on his new surf board waiting for another set of surf punk waves after that riff ... 😺 Surfs up mate
I'm surprised you couldn't hear him scratching his claws in part of the vid!
Leon Are your presets avai anywhere? awesome!
There's a bunch up on my Patreon and Axechange
Zero reason to ever tour with the rack again. The Fm9 is the perfect rig.
hi man! i have installed the firmare and updated my editor too.But i cant find the gapless option in my editor.
Are you watching Neural…!!!
Fractal is A M A Z I N G, so are your vídeos 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you so much 😀
@@LeonTodd it’s our pleasure. Thanks so much for your time and effort. I ve learnt so much from your videos. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I did the Firmware Update and the editor update, but when I go to the setup page I don't show the gapless option.
Using this version it's there for me - forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/fm9-edit-1-02-08-to-support-fw-6-00-public-beta.201281/
Hi - just about to buy a FM9 - had a FM3 Mk1 for a while . Please can anyone point me to more info on latency/feel improvements that come with this new firmware .I see references to it but no detail? thanks
Check the release notes on the forum related to this firmware.
Hi Leon, ¿ the sound of fm9 is direct to the interfaz?
Correct
i was waiting feo your video 😅
how come I couldn't find a link to an official download? fractal website still only shows firmware 5.0.... help?
in the fractal forum -> FM9 discussion
What do you use for speakers
I use Adam A7X studio monitors. You're hearing the DI from the FM9
Awesome!
Should be illegal to play Unchained without the flanger ;)
Just kidding man the tones sound incredible. Gapless switching is a game changer.
Accurate.
awesome
I love g66 and Fractal 😊😊😊🎸🎸I hope one day have an fm3 for gift its my dream i love fm3 fractal
How is it possible that I don't have gapless option visible in my FM9 Edit but I have it in my FM9 Unit? I uninstalled FM9 Edit and installed it again and still. I don't have this option in editor. Any idea why?
I'm using this version of the editor and it's fine - forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/fm9-edit-1-02-08-to-support-fw-6-00-public-beta.201281/
@@LeonToddThanks I had the same question; would have sworn the Edit would update once the firmware did, guess beta is gonna beta :)
Isn’t the switching a little delayed?
Repeat after me Leon: “beth-ah” , not “beet-ahh” 😂😂😂
Usually update comes on when I turn FM9 on, I'm not seeing it? Am I missing something?
It's a beta release, check the forum if you want to try it
Does gapless switching require more DSP?
I think it's around 3-4% extra CPU usage, so around what a Filter block might use
Just got rid of my FM9 as I can see that it will be superseded soon. The interface is poor , No touch screen , scribble strips unreadable and floor level, Bluetooth ?? why not .. USB old style . The software is excellent although most of the tiny minuscule selections are a waste of processor time . I think a new vewrsion is round the corner and I will wait it out.
Beeeetah! :D
