Great video! What about smaller watermelons? Just bought a small one and has a rich red color but the inside seems stringy, doesn’t taste bad but concerning.
Thanks for all you do young man. Friend told me cut off water 2 - 3 days before harvest. Makes plant pull more sugar. Have never put it up for verification. But grew some awesome 2nd gen. Sugar Babies this year. Did not know about the tindrell. As Always Great Video. 👍
2 ?s - #1 (I've never try to grow 🍉) do you water them? How often, can they be over watered? #2 I noticed you tapped them on top. Is the top the last part to ripen? Thanks for this and the other vids
They're deep-rooting- I've heard they have tap roots, they need 24" - 36" for roots-- I dug a 36" deep pit and filled it full of good soil-less medium, including horse manure, biochar... compost... learn.eartheasy.com/guides/raised-beds-soil-depth-requirements/
You were very demonstrative of each of the earlier points, but when you said that was the “two extra tips“ I don’t even know what you were talking about. They sounded like variations of the first. The two extra tips needed to be a little clearer.
I'm not sure what's up with my watermelons, I have Charleston Grey watermelons growing and one is about the size of a softball and the tendril is already halfway dried out. The plants are still nice and green but I expected this to get much bigger. I am keeping it in the vine until the tendril is completely dead, it has been halfway for about a week or two now, but the melon seems to be growing very very slowly. It gets plenty of water daily.
Yes, I planted them back in April I think, I'm in Louisiana so our growing season lasts until about November. I also forgot to mention that my watermelons are the shape of a pear, that is how they started out growing and still are that shape, but slowly getting bigger it seems. I thought maybe I should start measuring them weekly, will touching them about once a week hurt them?
Finally someone confirms what I'm doing for years: always choose watermelons by listening the sound while slightly clapping on it. And you imagin the faces of people around when you are doing it on market or in stores... 😁😁😁
You can't use the same melon to demonstrate the "different" sounds of other melons. Better to use a different melon. Put some side by side and test them each.
Great information, I now know what to look for and won’t waste my money in the future!
Awesome tips and great descriptions and details! I have never been able to tell!
Thank you for the tips I need ed them if the one that is not growing it has a end thats not right or round what makes them do that.

This was great. I hate mushy watermelon, no flavor watermelons and this will help avoid that. Thank you
One of my friends told me something like this, "watermelon is all that you have to eat, it water, sugar and food." If only that were true!
Thanks for sharing
Now I want some watermelon and I ate all of mine already.
Doing a video at the partay?
Hehe I thought about it, but it didn't happen.
I had no luck growing watermelons this year.
Did you get them planted by July? Plenty of water?

I feel u on the bare feet that’s how I get down too
I'm barefoot as much as possible. I was picking my red corn the other day barefoot in the field.

Yummy😋👍
I wish I liked the taste of watermelon,
Only 9 watermelons for the whole season, not good enough. I can do 100 in my garden

Hmm did you plant it early enough in the season? Does it get full sun?

Are those eyebrows real?
