@@jessicamartinez9765 do a search on dye sublimation printing for an explanation
Hello. Can i use this to print documents also?
Oh my gosh ! What a great review. I have been listening to others trying to review this printer and it was taking them so long I wanted to scream . So glad I found your review. This is how a review of a product should go.
Thanks! I've been a reviewer for over 25 years, so hopefully some of that brushes off!
lol
Yes, exactly!!!! Great review! I have been watching video after video, trying to gind out if you can hook up to a camera or computer and no one was mentioning that. Thank you for the informational and very direct review!
chanel g @
No footage of the final images though... well there was footage but its not in focus, so there is no way to tell what kind of image this thing produces.
Wow, what a great review! I was dreading watching UA-cam review videos and having to deal with the ads, intro animation, welcome message, hook, subscription request, announcements, all before getting to the actual review (which usually consists of fluff and takes longer than necessary). Your review got straight to the point, right away, and no fluff. Thank you for quality review!
You're very welcome! Er, can I ask you to subscribe now?!
Looks so much better than Local grocery store's photo quality. Thanks you for sharing !
Great review. These printers are wonderful while they work. We have the old CP1200. We didn't use it that much for the past 5 years and recently it stopped working - stuck on Canon screen and can't boot to menu. Searched the internet and it turns out a lot of people are having this problem. It doesn't matter if the printer has been used at all. Generally after the waranty expires, this happens at some point. Spoke with an authorised Canon repair shop and they told me Canon doesn't make spares for the Selphy line, so they can't repair it. Some people had luck with different tricks to make it start, but they didn't work for me. I was considering buying the newer CP1300, but searched online and it turns out it has the same issue, as well as other hardware issues with paper detection erros, etc. So keep that in mind when you buy the printer - at some point after 1-2 years (most people online had it happen in that period) it could become a paperweight. Also, factor the price of the printer in the cost per print. For us it almost trippled the price of the existing prints after it kicked the bucket.
Can you please share more information about this common error? What is it called?
Are the electronic defective? Do the electrolytic capacitors dry out or something?
I didn't find any info about common problems with this printer in a quick search except for some plastic part that tends to break.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the review! Looks like some new options!
This error just happened to my CP1200 as well. One day it stopped booting up. Great up to that point.
Thats crazy. I got a CP500 off a woman who hadnt used it for 15 years - and it worked great.
After using this printer for events for many years and thousands of prints I can attest that this printer is a sweet deal. The color balance is very close to WSIWG so long as your system is calibrated. It prints fairly fast and is extremely economical at about .30 cents US. Great resolution as well! My only complaint is that unfortunately it only prints 4x6 :( > A 5x7 version would be killer! The best thing apart from the quality is that when you buy a paper pack you know exactly how many prints you're getting (103 prints) and there's no waste of ink! Highly recommended.
Thanks for your feedback!
Hi! What happens if I have images with other ratios instead of 4x6, such as 5x7 or 4x5? Will the printer print the full image or it will cut the original image on borders?
It only prints 4x6?
@Rogers Photography Will it last a wedding session. Need to do my brother's wedding in Cape town. I cannot really take my professional printer from the UK. Want to print about 100 to 150 prints over 4 hours.
canon phone application has different features for this model than for cp1500?
I can see only one canon app i android store. So are the features different for different models?
I'm so impressed by your review of this product. I was given this by a friend and it is coming in handy for Christmas. I bought Christmas ornaments that need pics in them and this is the perfect fit for doing that. Thank you so much for all the details and advantages of the Canon Selfie.
Can you choose the format of the picture? I mean like maybe i want 3x4 size and not 4x6 can i change format or does it have to be 4x6?
Great review - to the point and you tell us exactly what we want to know!
Mr. Gordon, great video, I had bought CP1300 today, and so blessed to see your video, thank you so much
This is the most comprehensive review of this printer I've found on YT. I actually might just go and buy one.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the review. I've only heard abt this printer a few days ago and your thorough explanation on it helps me a lot.
You have a nice, clear voice. Easy to follow and the review was presented really well
Thankyou! I try to avoid the hyped approach...
Was considering buying this for when I do photo booth prints at events! Now I’m convinced! Thank you!
Glad to be of service!
I’m researching this 2yrs later as a present for my Mum. Still seems to be the best option on the market here in New Zealand
Yea plus seems more cheaper compared to those that needs zink paper imo
I have a similar printer, except it’s an older model lacking WiFi. I’ve only used it 3 or 4 times but I’m super impressed with it!
One question. What kind of ink does it use?
@@myerwerl mine uses some weird proprietary ink cassette, but the prints are super crisp!
Does it actually use ink or is it that weird dye sublimation method?
Useful for learning about printing from Photoshop and Capture One?
Useful for printing short run business cards? I'm thinking of half a dozen or so at a time.
thank you so much, i was debating between this one and another one and this really sold it for me!
I've got an older Selphy and I'm so happy for it. By the way Gordon you are almost on 100.000 subscribers!!! Way to go. Great!
Thanks Mike, it's painfully slow progress on the subs though!
I know. A huge process.
hi Gordon, thanks for the great video review. are you familiar with adjusting aspect ratios and cropping before sending to this printer? particularly with smartphone photos. Smartphone photo aspect ratios are not typically 3 by 2 so parts of the picture are usually chopped off. but it seems none of the canon apps allow for control of cropping.
It is now 2022 and I am trying to use my Selphy 1300 but I have forgotten how and the manual is no longer available on their website. Don't have a smart phone and wonder if the app is even available. I did a search on UA-cam and your video came up. A lifesaver!!! I was able to figure out a few things and your video filled in the gaps!!! Did you think back when you made this video that it would help someone 4 years later??? Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video and have a lovely day!!
You're very welcome, glad to be of assistance!
Thanks for the review man, buying this for my gf for xmas and a photo album, this review really helped me out.
Glad you found it useful! PS - if you're ordering online, please do consider going through my links in the pinned comment!
Great review. That is just what I needed for reassurance from an expert.before buying it. Thank you!
You're welcome! If you're buying online, don't forget to go through my links!
@@cameralabs great review. You have also convinced me to buy one 😉
Very concise, articulate and most importantly, not a million um's and ah's or superfluous chit-chat. I'm subscribing! thanks
Glad to be of service!
Great video - I just treated myself to one of these babies, although I have two printers at home as well (which used to be good for photos... not anymore). I am an avid scrapbooker, so I tend to print hundreds of pics every few months. I order them online, of course, because this would not be at all economical, but it sure is sweet to have this at my fingertips when I need a pic or two to complete my layout. Thanks for sharing :)
great review Gordon! i Have a few questions though as i am really interested in buying a portable printer. Can you add custom borders on your photos? And is this any good for black and white photos?
Great video! Quick question, Does the printer HAVE to be connected to something in order to print? Or can I just print without the need to plug it in with all those cables
Thank you for detailing so much for this product, including showing the ink cartridge and photo papers used. 😊
You're welcome! Also check out my review of the newer CP 1500 version
I purchased this for my sister after watching your review. She loves it and I have to say I'm impressed. I'd like to buy you another coffee or at least give you something towards it. From one fellow coffee lover to another.
Hi Nancy, I received your coffee donation - thankyou very much, it's very much appreciated! Glad I could be of help!
thanks for the review. watched the one you made on the CP1500. waiting on a used CP1300 with 4 cartridges and 144 sheets to arrive. got it for $95 USD (with shipping + taxes).
Probably won't be buying any new cameras in the near future since I'm happy with the ones I currently have, but I'm a subscriber now. You do a great job reviewing, definitely the best with the Selphy Printers.
Thanks!
Thank you. I appreciate your tutorial - and your beautiful shots.
Thanks, glad you found it useful!
Great Review. I was going to get one for my wife for Christmas, but it was "iffy" until I saw the review. She'll thank you, too.
4 years and man this video is till so helpful. Thank you for the advice.
I have noted that your left hand is a bit shaky and I hope its only because of the weight of the printer. Stay in good health please.
And thank you for the review 💜
Thanks, glad you found it useful!
There should be the option to use our own mobile phones to preview and control the printer (or any other device). It could work as the interface to any equipment, thus making things more efficient and cheaper.
Awesome review Gordon! Thank you so much!
You're very welcome!
great review thanks! answered my questions
You're welcome!
Hey Gordon. I have a Fuji XT3 and I was wondering how I could print wirelessly to a printer straight from my camera ?
Absolutely brilliant, mate. I am a big fan of your channel.
Thanks!
Hello,
If I don't use it for a long time, should I keep the ink open and keep it separate or can I keep the ink inside the printer?
Hi I would like to use the printer at my sisters bday party but the hall has no internet. Can I still print from my phone to the printer? Thank you
Great video.
Gordon, I got my printer for Christmas and just opened it up recently. I printed a couple of pictures for my son but the first picture only did one pass and came out yellow and the next two only passed twice and was red and didn't do the final 2 passes. Have you ever heard of that and if so, how would I fix it? Is it possible the box didn't come with all the ink?
Gordon will you help respond please. i am not able to see the lines upper and lower for the ID photo cropping. Am I missing a setup step? please respond
I have just research online. Was just curious which is most economical to use plus getting decent pictures. Thank you, enjoyed your video on this one.
I've just got home from Aldi with one for the bargain price of...£39.99!! Can't wait to use it!
Love Steller’s jays. Thanks for a great review.
can this print on sticker paper? and does it also make matte prints? or are they only glossy
Excellent informative review Gordon, I was looking at different mobile printers as a present for my wife and this has now made up my mind, thanks again for the help.
Omg thank you for this normally people will talk about a random topic and will not think about the multiple things that people my want to use the printer for
Thanks! I've been a tech journalist for many years, so hopefully I get to the bottom of what people want to know about a product! Hope you enjoy my other videos too!
Can you choose the size you want to print the photo from the app? Are there only specific sizes to choose from or can you input your own custom size?
Do you know if there is any restickable photo paper that is compatible with this printer?
I have a really simple question and i hope you can help me. I am planning to start a photobooth business, however, can I print photos here while its connected directly to a laptop? Lets say there is no wifi connection, just laptop and this printer assuming I will be going in different places without internet connection. And 2nd question: do you think it is compatible with mirrorless camera? -thank you so muchhhhhhhh
I like your review . Straight to the point and I am buying it !!
Great and very clear, efficient review. Thx 🙏
7:05 is it still this slow or have there been some software updates etc.? is the printer still good today or could there be a better option in 2021?
Can you customize it? Like for an event I want to set up a photo booth so can I set it up as when people take selfies and print out the strips then there would be a customized font at the bottom of the strip? Like they do for weddings where the photo strip has the bride’s and groom’s name and date of the wedding on there?
Thanks for the review!
Great video and I'm going to buy one! :)
did you buy one and did you like it?
thanks for the review! Quick question, if working with photoshop is it better to use CMYK space or RGB for the purposes of using this printer? Thanks!
The gammut is not extremely wide, so I am not sure if it matters. But interesting question as the cartridge is more cmyk than rgb. I shall test this.
my cp1300 passport photo print don't have guide line like yours, us and uk version difference?
Great review Gordon! Just bought the CP 1300. What photo app did you use on your Android to print to the Selphy? Thx Much!! :)
Im using Lumii...works perfectly fine.its a good photo editor
I bought you a coffee for the succinct review you did of the Canon Selphy 1300 printer. Thank you. Enjoy the British accent.
Cheers, i appreciate it!
Can i put multiple images in random orientation and random side over one printing paper and then print?
Hi! Does anyone know if you can print smaller pictutes with this device? Or only the standard paper size
I haven’t been able to find how long the link lasts. Anyone know, or have experience?
Hi, do you need the app to print or can you print straight from AirPrint?
So can I use the printer connected to a computer through WiFi without the need of a router or internet connection? Just connecting wirelessly the printer and the computer directly?
great review, any idea if it can print photos with different finishes like matte for instance ?
I wanted to get the CP1500 but it's not available in my country yet
I got this for christmas and am really excited to use it!! except mines black
Do you need to be using a canon camera. Or can I use my Nikon. Then use sd card direct insert.
Thank you
Do you think the photos will look like the one printed on Polaroid Hi-Print? they both use dye-sub. I am not a huge fan of they how they look like. it's like you have small points all over the photo. quite hard to explain.
Jolly good review. Very clear. Thsnk you.
6 Gordon’s for your viewing pleasure 😂😂😂 Funny guy, great video mate 👍🏼
I read this comment exactly at the SAME time that he said it!! 😂🤣😂
Excellent review and instructional video. I’m sold.
Thanks!
I heard from some reviews that the ink ran out before the paper, how to prevent that from happening ? Can i unplug the ink if not using the selphy printer ??
Thanks for reviewing this so well.
Thanks Michelle, glad you found it useful!
very informative and clear video, thanks
Can you print letters or paperwork? Or what else can you do besides print pictures?
Great video! this was extremely helpfull.
Hi I got my one last week but it is not making the final coat, after the blue the photo is ready 🤔. The other thing i have tried to print two column of 4 photos like the photo booth style but the printer crops the photos by itself then I have finished with people without head 😖. Another issue is with frame even that I select to include frame these are very very thin in the long side of the paper then they look weird with the thicker frame at the top and bottom, please help 🥺
Is there an app you need to download? You just said click print when each are linked to the wifi. Just checking.
hahahah i love the part of "buy me a coffee". Love your videos, thanks a lot!! I saw your videos when i bought my nikon d5100 looong time ago, and now when a get my canon cp-1300. Wish you the best!
Does it matter if the image is JPEG or RAW?
Is It possible to set printing in less glossy Mood? Which Is the effect of a less glossy setting for this camera?
Which app is the best to print on cp1300 from android phone? Any ideas?
Thank you!! Im going to get one now!!
He didn't make it
Very nice practical demonstration of any photo printer 👍👍👍thanks !💙💛💜
Thanks!
great review Gordon!.thanks for sharing..leave a mark on your house..staycon..
Its stuck on "buzy" after i pressed print. My phones says printing several, how do i clear printing??
Which is better between this one and the Kodak PD450W?
Hi
How many pictures can I print per cardriges
Thank you in advance.
Very Good review! Thank you.
Hey, how do you clean the printer if you don't have cleaning cassette
Put it in your dishwasher.
Hi Gordon, I got the printer today. Have you tried to print some black and white images? I set the printer to B&W but when I print some B&W images the final result looks a bit pinky if compared to the original. How did you optimize it for B&W? Thanks much.
B&W can be hard to do on a colour printer, especially as there's no separate black pass on this. I'd try experimenting with turning the photo to B&W on your device before printing, as well as trying the printer's own B&W mode, and again with both.
Thanks, Gordon. Previously I printed a photo that was already in B&W in the device. So, I started playing with the Color Adjustments in the printer by bringing down the reds and overall I got a better result.
Good tips, thanks! B&W can be a tricky thing, glad you're getting better results now!
Does your screen turn off after a while, mine does not, display is always on.
Can u connect the printer to a computer to see the photo bigger
Do you have to use their provided paper? Or will any 6x4 photo paper work?
Also how many Prints would you get from one ink cartridge?
You have to use theirs - it's not an inkjet. The paper and ink ribbons are made for each other.
cp1300 you know how to fix when it has images taken from a usb stick but the usb stick is no longer in there and the images are still on the cp1300 with no usb stick in ? as it wont take any new images from usb stick or even do the wifi either be greatful if u know how to get the images of the internal cp1300 memory
Such a great review. Thank you
Thanks!
I've got low dpi and can't think of a reason as to why. Please advise!
What happens when you are trying to print a picture and then it says cannot connect with printer what do you do? It worked the first time we tried now the printer doesn’t connect with my iPhone
That was really helpful, many thanks.
You're welcome Greg!
Thanks for the great video, I'm not thrilled w the borders on the pictures, if I was to cut them, would that jeopardize the prints?
You can trim them without any issues. You can also print up to the edge I think. Don't I show some prints with and without borders?
