I just purchased the 1500 today and your video answered all of my questions, thank you!😊
Thank you so much for breaking down the differences and similarities of the the Cannon 1300 & 1500. I have been trying to figure this out and wasn't having much success until I found your video. Still can't decide what I'm going to do, but I'm leaning toward the 1300.
Thank you so much for this great review! Most helpful...more than reading the reviews I've seen!
Thanks for the helpful and concise, side-by-side review!
I really appreciate how you explained this. I needed the info just as you explained.
Great video ! straight to the point and answered all my questions which ultimately led me to buy my 1300. thank you sir !
This is a brilliant and to the point review, thank you so much!!!
Great video, you covered all the important bits. Also, I love your outro - comparing the print speed on the way out was actually super helpful. Looks like I'm sticking with my 1300 for the foreseeable future.
Canon screwed up, the CP1500 is a flop. The CP1300 is perfect and needs no improvements. What were there thinking????
great video!! it was very intuitive and helpful! thank you
very well explained. It hit every aspect of the decision making process. Thank you sir
A very good review and comparison of both!
Nice video! I have a 1300 and was wondering if I should upgrade and now I think I'll keep the one I have! Thank you!
super helpful! I love how unbiased this entire review is. i decided to go with the 1300 because i like having the ability to print via USB, i don't always have a c cable lying around
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for this excelent review, very useful & helpful
Thank you for your upfront opinion. It sounds as though the 1300 may be a smarter purchase
Thanks so much for your in dept review on this items. I was wondering if the two had charging capability?
Ordered the 1300 after this review, many thanks.
For me, the battery was a fraction of the price on the 1300, and the pop up screen and buttons was a bonus.
Thank you for this video I found it very helpful.
This was so helpful! Thank you so much!
You're so welcome!
I am glad I saw your video...I just got my 1300 today, and I am relieved that I made a good choice! Thanks!
You won’t regret it. Enjoy !
Hi, do you use the 1300 with a Windows 11 computer?
I used it with a Windows 10 and it worked well, it should work with 11 as well but I have never tried.
No
How it's so far? How many pictures you print and dose still have ink
Thanks
Thanks for this very good review. I will just stay with the 1300. I thought the 1500 "satin" would be really satin but I see they just replaced the pattern 1/2/3 from the 1300 with "semi-gloss" and "satin" in the 1500 but it does the same thing.
Thanks for your help!
Thanks for this review and confirming which one I want! I have an older version, 900? and have decided on the 1300. Definitely prefer the buttons and tilt screen!
Good choice!
Just got the cp1300 for 50€ second hand with paper included!
An excellent review which is very well organised and well delivered. It is useful for me as I have been wondering which to get. On the basis of your review, the CP1300 looks the better option, particularly at the lower price. One question - how is the CP1300 set up? You show the CP1500 set up and say it is easier, but how is the CP1300 set up?
Thanks! The setup of the CP1300 is very similar to the CP1500 apart that they won’t show you any QR code to scan. It’s not the most intuitive but once you did it, you won’t have to do it again.
Thank you, quite helpful.
Thank you for doing this. You covered everything I would want to know. I was surprised to find that for me, the older 1300 is the one I want. I prefer the older USB port, the extra buttons, the tilting screen and definitely the ability to zoom in, (who konws why they decided to get rid of that function in the new one).
Problem all small usb like Mini or micro gets wobbly with the time and lost connectivity. Even usb a has that Problem.
USB c? Has not that Problem even after years of use
How about the paper photo? I heard that cp1500 can’t use kp180in
Great video I still want the 1300
Thank you for this video. I just did an event (I'm a photographer) where I had a photo booth and was printing out images as took them. I borrowed a DNP printer which is way more expensive than these printers. While I don't print photos on site often, I was looking at the selphy to purchase so I'll have my own in a pinch. A lot of the differences doesn't apply to me as I will be using a computer and Lightroom to view and print photos. Speed is the most important thing. It's hard to tell on the video but I think the 1500 is about 10 seconds faster. Night not seen like a lot but when you have people hovering over you, waiting for photos. I want that extra 10 seconds. So I think I'll get the 1500. The DNP printer I borrowed prints in less than 20 seconds per print total. Compared to almost a minute per print with the Selphy printers
Your DNP printer is definitely more suitable for a pro gig like yours. You also need to think that it could take about 20 seconds from the moment you press print on your computer to the moment the printer starts it’s job.
Are you still able to print mini prints with the 1300? I have the 910 and it's now not recognizing that there's ink in it. I am constantly printing 3x4's and 2x3's The 910 lets you do that. That is an option I must have.
Great review!
Thanks for your support!!
I worry about older tech being phased out/not supported - Do you think that's worth considering when comparing these two when you're looking for some longevity out of it? Considering the 1300 is six years old?
I just ordered the 1500... unfortunately, I'm just not watching this video. Best Buy only had the new one. I hate that the old features were removed... I would have loved to zoom into the picture and have external buttons. I hate when they remove things from updated devices. This sucks
Yeah I have to agree, it's always weird to see old features being removed.
Can you please explain what is used for ? Thanks

Hello, I have a trouble with 1300 with a dark line running across one side of the photo. I have seen it's a common problem / design flaw. What about 1500, is it still present? Thanks
Fantastic review! Will likely go with the CP1300 if there is no difference in quality.
Thanks for this video.
can i use these printer to print a sticker that can stick or they can only print photo, thanks!
Great, thank you
Thank you so much for your wonderful review 👍🏻, I think based on the video I probably would go with CP1300, but I have two questions please: 1- is there any problems with the app for CP 1300, I heard some people complaining about the app and they can not print from it and there’s no update in the App Store 2- how much is the ink and how many photos can I print per ink? Many thanks again
That's a good choice. I only used it with an Android phone and it has always worked. They are selling different ink packages depending how many you want to print. You can check the links in the description to check on Amazon. If you search there is also non original inks that are sold. The max I saw is 108 pictures with one cartridge.
Thanks for this review, very useful. I've been using Sephy printers for the last 10 years and it's always a big moment when the new one arrive. On the surface nothing has much changed, but i'm starting to believe they updated some internal components when I see the printing time, and that's what makes the big difference in the long run.
Things that where flawed in the last models :
- paper feeding system that weakens with time
- color accuracy (tends to be softer and less saturated compared to original files)
- no way to have a permanent color fix preset in the app or printer itself
- instable wifi / app connection for long batches
Does this model takes external batteries like old models ?
Thanks
Thanks for your comment! Yes it takes the same exact external battery as the cp1300.
Please, if anyone can answer, what is better to take C P 1300 or CP 1500, given that different shops offer them with a very small difference in price?
Great review thanks. Good to know about the satin finish!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you 🙏🏻 you are so great thank you very much❤❤❤
HI.
I followed the video with interest even though I don't understand the language well.
I would like to buy.
I'm confused.
Is the 1500 or the 1300 better?
Thanks if you can give me a hint.
Greetings
Is it possible to print without the app after you connect it through Wi-Fi?
Thank you
Thank you 🙏
Thanks!
i had an older one and I had problems with the paper managggement, it was very often stucking or not recognising original paper.
Thanks man
Do you have to have wifi for these printers to connect to your android phone? I've called cannon and they didn't give me a straight answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Does the CP1500 accepts an external battery as the CP1300?
What about the extra protective layer the new cp 1500 prints as a final touch on the photo ? Cp1300 applies it as well ?
Does this mean it uses extra ink?
Hi, how many prints per cartridge (4x6)
Thank you. You have a nice cat.
Can i print passport size photo
Thanks, I just ordered the 1500 upon your vlog. Here in Germany it costs 127€
This is very close to the $180 Canadian that I payed for mine. Enjoy!
@@printerinsider 😊 As I am Junk Journaler, mostly going to use the satin finish with the grids :) which I cannot create on any other printers, only after working with an other app on the pics.
the cp 1000 paper work on 1200 and cp 1300 ؟
Great!
which prints faster?
Dose the cp1300take batteries
Is it possible to print the sticker on cp1500?
Hello, is there a free app for cp1300? Can I make a collage, put filters etc?
Thank you for the awesome review. I was debating buying the 1500 because it’s on sale on Amazon prime but I think i really want the 1300… I have one currently but it’s no longer working. The screen says canon and won’t go past that. Do you happen to know if that can be fixed?
Hmm.. If the printer will not move past the Canon screen, it could mean there is not enough power or there is something wrong with the printer itself. You can try unplugging the printer from the power and pressing the power button 10 times while the printer is unplugged. Once the power button has been pressed 10 times, you can plug the printer into a different outlet and then you can try turning it on again.
If the printer will still not get past the Canon screen, it would mean there is something going on with the printer's hardware.
Thank you so much. I will definitely try those steps later. I know I did try a few things before but it’s been awhile. I miss using it so hopefully this works! Have a great day!!!
Can i print id pictures from 1300?
hello, can the battery of the canon cp 1300 shelphy be used in the cp 1500? Is it compatible or does it use another battery model?
It’s exactly the same battery
There is a big format fot this type of printing ? I love no inks concept
Can you also recommend a 3 in 1 printer thats also really good for photos?
I just used a PIXMA MG3620 that can print documents, scan and also print pictures. Quality wise it's great the only downside is connectivity. It took me some time to be able to set it up properly so better get one from a place you can return it in case you have too much troubles connecting it to your computer or phone.
A question does the charger have to be in at all times or can you charge it and then leave the cord and bring the printer with you? Like does it have a built in battery?
It does not have any built in battery. Canon is selling one separately, check Amazon link in description
Hi. Is it both need power cable to operate this printer?
Yes unless you buy the compatible battery, then you won’t need the cable.
Multumesc foarte mult desi nu stiu engleza am inteles destul de bine ca este mult mai bun cel vechi 1300 decat cel nou .Cel vechi are si mai multe butoane de reglaj setari ,plus are 2 intrari micro si usb pe cand cel nou are numai usb c plus ca display nu este rabatabil
Has anyone had any issues with the printer saying wrong ink wrong paper ? It worked when I used it then the next day it says that …? I went to buy a new one and the new one did the same exact thing ! ANYONE ? I’ve reset it numerous times changed the paper ink , anyone know what to do,???? PLEASE
What is the paper and ink used in CP1500? what can you recommend for a quality vs budget. thanks
I know that there are some third party paper and ink but I never used those. Check link in description for the Canon kit
Can i use Canon KP108 for Selphy CP1500? or strictly or PR-108?
What's the difference between KP108 and RP108? sorry. i need help.
I have the selphy CP 1300 in white and I rather that one than the newer version. I used it at a church fundraiser and we made good money with it. Noone complained about the quality.
The quality of both of these printers is great and hard to beat at this price point.
At the event did you feel it printed at a good enough speed to keep up with the people waiting?
Hi, I prefer the features of the older 1300, but I can see complaints that it doesn't work with windows 11. Did you try it with a PC running windows 11?
I didn't try, my pc laptop has Windows 10. I guess I should upgrade to 11 to be more up to date when reviewing.
@@printerinsider Okay. Thanks for the quick reply.
Hy Friend! I used cp1300 with Windows 11 on last weekend. I printed 100 picture with 2 different cp1300 and everything was OK.
@@sugabor3257 thank you very much. Did you need to install drivers, or did windows 11 just work with the printer straight away?
@@clivebushnell8428 If I remember correctly, I did not install a driver. I just plugged it in and windows recognized it. It is certain that there was no need for tricks. ;)
It's interesting that other reviews say the older models tend to be better than the newer models.
Even after printing many times with both, I still can’t notice a difference.
I'm looking forward the 1300. My question is, can I print from my cellular IPad, or will I still need WIFI?
You can connect your iPad to the on board wifi network of the printer itself.
The CP1500 does not have drivers for Windows 7. Plus it appears there is already a firmware update for the printer. Mine did not connect to a Windows 10 pc either.
Hmm, my laptop is on Windows 10 and it worked without having to download any drivers.
@@printerinsider I figured it out.
I wanted to connect via USB cable but that wasn't working on anything.
To get it working 'on' Windows 10 I had to connect the CP1500 to my wireless router using WPS. Once the printer connected to the wireless router I could add the printer to Windows 10 giving it the IP address assigned by the router. Everything is happy now.
It won't work on Windows 7. They didn't write drivers for Windows 7.
Thanks.
did you use the battery too?
Unfortunately I never purchased a battery since I mostly print at home or in places where there is always an outlet near.
what photo printer 4x6 do you recommend? not canon bc i seen theres more?
There are not many 4x6 photo printers out there. There is still the Epson PictureMate PM-400 but it has not been updated since 2015. Same goes for the Kodak Dock that has been released in 2016 and is still selling.
@printerinsider will the kodak dock still print from a Canon camera ?
I have never used one yet.
@@printerinsider It's a shame there's not much competition for this pocket sized format. There should be also USB-C PD support
@@jan.tichavsky I agree, having to carry the huge power brick they included is not very convenient.
What size sd card can it use?
It uses a regular size one, not the micro SD.
From the Side by side comparison, it looks like the 1300 has slightly better picture quality. If you look at the window in the background youll see the 1300 has more detail because the highlights arent as completely blown out. You can see the bars.
Thank i go for 1500 🙏🏻💕
increíble como las empresas sacan el mismo producto solo para subir los precios.
Is this better than Fujifilm wide printer?
I never had one but if you are talking about the Instax wide printer then these will provide a much better image quality than any Instax printer.
Great review.
Can cp1500 work on power bank supply trough USB C?
And does sp1300 have own battery inside?
Unfortunately neither of these can run trough USB power or have a battery integrated. They do sell some knock offs batteries on Amazon but I don't know how well they work.
@@printerinsider Thanks for the answer.
Then how do you charge the printer or do you have to keep changing it?
is this battery powered or plug and play?
The battery must be purchased separately.
Good video test, but you forget to talk about the speed of print ! the cp1500 is more eficiency with about to 40 sec, than 47 sec for the cp1300. small detail but when you a lot of pic, it is importante !
You have also this satin finish in the CP1300 and even more, you have 4 types of finish in the CP1300, glossy one and three different patterns for non-glossy finish. Selphy CP1500 has glossy finish also but only 2 patterns for non-glossy finish, attending to the product manual.
I don't understand this product, same prices if not more expensive but less functionality. Someone at Canon's marketing department thought it was a good idea to give less for same or more money. It's our responsability as customers to get informed before buying products to get the most for our money.
Thanks for the info! Indeed Canon didn’t invest too much effort into upgrading this printer apart from the esthetics. I suspect that one of the reasons is that there are no real competitors.
I wanted to get the cp1500 for non glossy finish but liked the extra buttons on the cp1300. thank you, now I know that the cp1300 has even more options for a non-glossy finish. can you please tell me what other finishes are available on the cp1300 ?
@@printerinsider I would love a version with 13x18 cm or 15x20 cm papers for bigger prints. There are other options for that like DNP or HiTi, but too expensive for home use
@@nats92lilac I answered you with link but for some reason UA-cam deleted. You have the detail in the english manual, page 40. You can access online to the PDF of the manual for the CP1300.
@@kike5537 thank you so much!
Hey i need a response immediately please. A seller on amazon has this marked as an inkjet printer. Is this a mistake or does canon make an inkjet version of this printer?
Which do you suggest to buy?
If you can get a 1300 for a lot cheaper than a 1500 then you should go for it. Apart that, it's up to you to decide if the usb-a port, more buttons and adjustable screen of the 1300 is more important than the more modern look, satin print option and bigger screen of the 1500. At the end of the day the end result is the same.

I bought the CP 1500 and im disappointed with the print quality. I dont know how you did to have superb photos like that ( took with a phone ? Editing ? ) because mines are very dark, a blue ish tint and blurry...
That may be more the quality of the picture itself. Check your camera settings and try using a different camera.
physical buttons are nice to have but it's not a deal breaker and as for the zooming feature surely you can do that sort of thing on your mobile phone or computer, you don't really need your printer to do it for you, although it would have been nice to still have the tilting screen on the cp1500. Overall they seem to have similar features and the print quality is excellent on both machines
is there any driver cp1500 for windows xp, pls help, thanks
stop using xp it isn't safe
Дякую!
Set playback speed to x1.25
You’re welcome.
The screen? Gimick because most use is on pc or Smartphone. And there was in the past fixed screen and moving screens.
The biggest Pro for canon selphy Printers are the paper and ink!
Even after 10years they use the same paper and ink cartridge. That means no Sold out of it and you can get it.
Man photo printer other companys dont sell thier ink and paper anymore after 2-3years.
Canon does it and even in a cp1500 you can use the same stuff and can buy it
You're supposed to select based on what kind of paper you're using photo paper comes with them qualities not the print I believe that's you're problem you're supposed to select it based on what kind of paper you're using
