    Thank you so much for breaking down the differences and similarities of the the Cannon 1300 & 1500. I have been trying to figure this out and wasn't having much success until I found your video. Still can't decide what I'm going to do, but I'm leaning toward the 1300.

      Canon is a pretty stupid company with occasionally non-annoying products! I wish their products would improve 10%, not get worse by 10%.

    Thank you for doing this. You covered everything I would want to know. I was surprised to find that for me, the older 1300 is the one I want. I prefer the older USB port, the extra buttons, the tilting screen and definitely the ability to zoom in, (who konws why they decided to get rid of that function in the new one).

    Thank you for this video. I just did an event (I'm a photographer) where I had a photo booth and was printing out images as took them. I borrowed a DNP printer which is way more expensive than these printers. While I don't print photos on site often, I was looking at the selphy to purchase so I'll have my own in a pinch. A lot of the differences doesn't apply to me as I will be using a computer and Lightroom to view and print photos. Speed is the most important thing. It's hard to tell on the video but I think the 1500 is about 10 seconds faster. Night not seen like a lot but when you have people hovering over you, waiting for photos. I want that extra 10 seconds. So I think I'll get the 1500. The DNP printer I borrowed prints in less than 20 seconds per print total. Compared to almost a minute per print with the Selphy printers

    • @printerinsider
      @printerinsider  Рік тому +1

      Your DNP printer is definitely more suitable for a pro gig like yours. You also need to think that it could take about 20 seconds from the moment you press print on your computer to the moment the printer starts it’s job.

    An excellent review which is very well organised and well delivered. It is useful for me as I have been wondering which to get. On the basis of your review, the CP1300 looks the better option, particularly at the lower price. One question - how is the CP1300 set up? You show the CP1500 set up and say it is easier, but how is the CP1300 set up?

    • @printerinsider

    Thanks for this review, very useful. I've been using Sephy printers for the last 10 years and it's always a big moment when the new one arrive. On the surface nothing has much changed, but i'm starting to believe they updated some internal components when I see the printing time, and that's what makes the big difference in the long run.
    Things that where flawed in the last models :
    - paper feeding system that weakens with time
    - color accuracy (tends to be softer and less saturated compared to original files)
    - no way to have a permanent color fix preset in the app or printer itself
    - instable wifi / app connection for long batches
    Does this model takes external batteries like old models ?
    Thanks

    Thank you for the awesome review. I was debating buying the 1500 because it’s on sale on Amazon prime but I think i really want the 1300… I have one currently but it’s no longer working. The screen says canon and won’t go past that. Do you happen to know if that can be fixed?

    • @printerinsider
      @printerinsider  Рік тому +1

      Hmm.. If the printer will not move past the Canon screen, it could mean there is not enough power or there is something wrong with the printer itself. You can try unplugging the printer from the power and pressing the power button 10 times while the printer is unplugged. Once the power button has been pressed 10 times, you can plug the printer into a different outlet and then you can try turning it on again.
      If the printer will still not get past the Canon screen, it would mean there is something going on with the printer's hardware.

    Thanks. I will DEFINITELY avoid the 1500 thanks to you! That is terrible what they did to the interface+display. Yikes. It's hard enough to use already! But still, good.
    I have to maintain mine regularly clean the rollers and occasionally take it apart to pull out ink plane gunk.
    But yeah it really looks like the 1500 has nothing to offer. The 1300 is easy to take apart- did you tear them down to see if they are the same inside?
    That would really really really be worth knowing. The 1300 has a problem when it gets old the tolerances give and they start eating the ink planes. So it might be worth transferring the 1500 innards to a 1300 if no changes were made to the printing mechanism!

      There are not many 4x6 photo printers out there. There is still the Epson PictureMate PM-400 but it has not been updated since 2015. Same goes for the Kodak Dock that has been released in 2016 and is still selling.

    physical buttons are nice to have but it's not a deal breaker and as for the zooming feature surely you can do that sort of thing on your mobile phone or computer, you don't really need your printer to do it for you, although it would have been nice to still have the tilting screen on the cp1500. Overall they seem to have similar features and the print quality is excellent on both machines

    Hey i need a response immediately please. A seller on amazon has this marked as an inkjet printer. Is this a mistake or does canon make an inkjet version of this printer?

  • @kike5537
    @kike5537 Рік тому +4

    You have also this satin finish in the CP1300 and even more, you have 4 types of finish in the CP1300, glossy one and three different patterns for non-glossy finish. Selphy CP1500 has glossy finish also but only 2 patterns for non-glossy finish, attending to the product manual.
    I don't understand this product, same prices if not more expensive but less functionality. Someone at Canon's marketing department thought it was a good idea to give less for same or more money. It's our responsability as customers to get informed before buying products to get the most for our money.

    • @printerinsider

      Thanks for the info! Indeed Canon didn’t invest too much effort into upgrading this printer apart from the esthetics. I suspect that one of the reasons is that there are no real competitors.

    I should mention that the 1300 is a good printer, but does need twice-a-year maintenance. If Canon improved the physical mechanism, probably making it 10% bigger, it could be a truly great little printer! They crammed too much function into a small case I think they just need to use better materials (metals) for the printer mechanism and make the printer a little bigger so youc an clean it + keep it going longer. They shouldn't care- their money is made on the ink carts anyway.
    In any case if you're good with electronics don't be afraid to take this guy apart. It's pretty easy to deal with, clean, etc. Q-tips and rubbing alcohol go a long way.
